Version Control In Discoverer 10g - Apps with PVCS

Hello,
I am using Discoverer 10g with Oracle Apps and PVCS is being used in the project for version control. How to Do version control for Discoverer Workbooks with PVCS.
Please elaborate with an example.
Thank You.

You can export the workbooks and version control the exported .eex file. You could do the same for Business Areas if desired.
Regards,
Steve.

  • Discoverer 10g installed with Ora Apps 11i on same box

I've worked through the "coexistence restrictions" for Discoverer 10g (9.0.4) and 9iR1 (1.0.2.2.x) which states:
"The following instances of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) and Oracle9i Application Server Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) can coexist on the same computer only after Oracle9iAS Discoverer has been shutdown in the Oracle9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) Oracle home:
1.0.2.2.x Standard Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms
1.0.2.2.x Enterprise Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms
1.0.2.2.x Standard Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms without OracleAS Infrastructure 10g
1.0.2.2.x Enterprise Edition and 9.0.4 Business Intelligence and Forms without OracleAS Infrastructure 10g"
Does this imply that I can install 11i on a box, permanently shut down Discoverer and then ON THE SAME BOX install 10g Infrastructure and Midtier including Discoverer 10g?
Has anyone worked through this installation and made it work?
    Thanks

This IS possible and have now done it with assist from Oracle tech support.
    1. Install 64-bit 10.2.0.1 Databse into OraDb_home.
    2. Install 32-bit 10.2.0.1 Client (needs Windows ODBC extensions) into OraClient_home.
    3. Apply patch 5500954 for 64-bit - this is a Critical Bug patch 8 for 64-bit.
    4. Apply patch 5337014 for 32-bit - this is a patchset to upgrade the Client to 10.0.2.0.3.
    5. Contrary to what Oracle note 334528.1 says (which is to patch the 64-bit Server, you must patch/upgrade the 32-bit client as well (otherwise, it still fails).
Also, DataDirect's Connect Ver 5.2 ODBC Oracle "wire-driver" (32-bit version) will work without installing the OraClient at all.

  • Discoverer 10g integration with R12

    Hi,
I am installing stand alone Discoverer 10g , no infra and no middle tier, just i want to install Discoverer 10g , my question is---> will it create own own discoverer database , else do i need to integrate with apps ,
If its not going to create disco database , then we will integrate with R12,
    Thanks

    Ravi,
Can you guide us how you are installing Discoverer 10g WITHOUT infra and middle tier ? and configuring with APPS R12. Can you put some ligth on it and provide us documents to follow. You need to install Oracle Business Intelligence Server 10g Release 2 (see the document referenced above for details).

  • Can I have a library of PDF docs with version control? Can it cope with version nos. embedded in the file name?

I manage a set of documents which are edited in Word but "published" as PDFs (using Word 2010's save to PDF capability).
I want to create a library for them on SharePoint (my company has SharePoint Online via its Office 365 subscription).
I'm pretty much a SharePoint novice but even I can see it's easy to upload the documents to a simple library. The things that are giving me a headache are:
Can I tell SharePoint what the version number of the uploaded PDF document is? The version number as understood by the library needs to match the version number written into the document (where it is called a revision number and increments in whole numbers
    starting from zero).
How do I handle replacing the uploaded PDF documents with new versions? If they were Word documents I could edit them by opening them from the SharePoint library, checking them out if necessary, and SharePoint would handle version control.
But since the PDFs are generated from editable masters (Word documents) which are NOT on SharePoint I would need to edit the local Word document on my PC then generate a PDF version then upload it to replace the existing PDF document in the
library. Is it easy to upload a new document over the top of an old in a SharePoint library?
Hoping someone can give me some answers.
    Regards,
    Bruce Officer

    hi Bruce,
    1. It sounds like what you need is to set the starting version number since your revision number increments in whole numbers, it would match up to SharePoint once the starting version number is set. You can potentially create a new custom field in the
library to manually track the version of the uploaded PDF document, but this might not match up with SharePoint's own version number and could get confusing. Another possibility is to upload dummy versions of the PDF document until the SP version
matches with the revision version and then delete these dummy versions.
    2. When you upload the PDF document again into the library, it should prompt you to see if you want to replace the existing. If you proceed with the upload, it should replace and increment the SharePoint version number.
Please Mark Answered if my reply solves your problem. Thanks!

  • Security issues for Discoverer 10g apps 12i

    gurus,
I have couple of things to get it done at client.
We are on Oracle Apps rel 12i with dicoverer 10g.
Did anyone setup MOAC to be enabled and operational in business areas?
Setting up secure responsibilities in discoverer for MOAC?
Any setup needs to be done for custom report security in discoverer ?
    thx

    Hi,
I did setup new MOAC security profiles and assigned multiple organizations to that profile for testing purpose.
After this, I did run concurrent program "Security List Maintennce" etc...
Tested Upding profile at user level or responsibility level.
    On APPS side fine.
I need the some basic steps on setup of security issues for discoverer side.
    1) Business areas (any security steps need to be followed in order to access data for single or multi-org)
    2) Custom Reports ( any security setup or any moac security profile setting against responsibilty for accessing single or multi-org data)
Since we dont have default operating unit parameter as specified in the concurrent program, how do you restrict data?
    3) Reconciling security approach r12 with discoverer (any steps need to be followed here after r12 configuration with security issues)
    4) Custom Views ( any steps to be followed for single or multi-org data as security aspect)
Looking for info on these setups.
    Thx

  • Use different JRE versions in Oracle Discoverer 10g(10.1.2.0)

    Hello.
We have a Oracle Forms application which also uses Discoverer Plus and Reports.
Problem is we have some user clients who uses XP/IE 6.0 while otheres has Vista IE 8.0.
    Based on here

depending on OS/browser different plugin versions are required. If we
Can we have different JRE versions in separate clients? Kinda confused with the matrix.

  • OWB 10.2 - deploying to Discoverer 10g - HELP with cryptic error message

    Hi all,
Does anyone know what the helpful message below is trying to tell me about my deployment to Discoverer? The validations all pass. The generation is error free. The execution gives the following as "INFORMATIONAL" - however, the EUL is not generated because the error appears to be fatal.
How can I lookup the object based on the identifier below? The message sucks.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike
    INFORMATIONAL
The import has failed (your End User Layer has not been modified) - No joins found between component folders of complex folder with identifier '50202FC115E94BFABAD5BBB906CC238F'
    RPE-02154: Failed to deploy EUL

Replying to myself. I'm still not at all sure what the error means but I encountered it when I had selected "match objects by name" rather than object id prior to deployment.
Setting it back to object id allowed the deployment to the EUL to work. Still, something seems wrong there.

  • Version Control with JDeveloper

Does any one know what version control packages can be used with JDeveloper? If you do, would you please let me know where I can get info on them.
    Thank you

    Alex,
There are two parts to this answer.
You can hook up any version control system
    to JDeveloper using various JDeveloper
    extension mechanisms including adding items
to the tools menu or complete wizards.
On OTN, you can find an CustomAddins which provides a way to integrate to any version control system by editing some batch files to point to their "put" and "get" type tools. This is meant as a simple starting point.
Starting with JDeveloper 3.2, you will be able to take advantage of the intergrated source control feature that integrates Oracle Repository's source control features into JDeveloper.
    I hope this helps,
    -John

  • Version Control integration with SVN

We want to implement Version Control integration for Siebel Tools with Subversion (SVN).
After an informal chat with a consultant from Oracle, we got the reply like: Test, and see if it works.
Now for my question, does anyone know a project where they used SVN as the version control tool in a Siebel project?

Nothing much yet, but I found a website that has the batch file for integration with SVN.
Guess I have to contact the author to get more details:

  • Version control suggestions

Before i spend tons of hours on this i figure it would be a good idea to ask people with much more experence than myself.
I work in a small multimedia development shop of about 10 people. Our pimary development tools are the Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection (Flash Pro, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition and Dreamweaver), Adobe Captivate, zBrush, and 3D Max 2012.
We HAVE TO come up with some sort of version control solution that will work with all the programs we use. Alien Brain was the first choice.... unfortunatlly that was denied due to cost. With Captivate, Master Suite, zBrush and AutoDesk Entertainment Suite all being purchased reciently we have about all the software purchasing we are going to have for a while.
So, with the current situation explained..... what are the prefered version control systems that you all have used or currently use that will support the most Adobe file formats?
Are there ay version control systems you have found to be best to avoid with Adobe file formats?
Thank you in advance for any comments, suggestions or warnings.

To clarify..... Yes, I understand that different Adobe Applications save in different formats and there is no "common" Adobe file format.
The purpose was to see if there were any specific formats that people had problems with in a particular flavor of subversion being as there are different types of subversions as well as different user clients and methods to check items in any out of whatever particular subversion solution you choose.
I have been researching all the different subversions solutions, branches of those solutions as well as user clients for checking in and checking out items. Unfortunately most don't have a list of supported file types but i have found a few complaints about specifically Apache Subversion and TortioseSVN corrupting data but I believe a majority of the complaints are from incorrect installs and incorrect paths.
A good list of version control solutions I started with :
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3177311
Other people struggling with the same problem :
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/610194
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2730898
Adobe Drive & Asset Management that says it works with CS5.5 Applications but numerous complaints on it falling short.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/adobedrive.html
To ask the question a different way that might be easier to get a response.
What version control solution do you use with Adobe CS5.5 Applications?
Do you have any problems with any particular file type in the solution that you use?
I wish i could use Alien Brain and i am jealous if you do. :O)

  • Oracle 10g R2 - Metadata Issue With Version Controlled Resources

We are trying to utilize the Oracle 10g R2 feature that allows user-defined metadata to be attached to XML DB resources. However, we are encountering errors when we try to append/attach metadata to a version-controlled resource (VCR). The following steps were followed:
    1. Register a new schema to be used for metadata (XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema).
    2. Add a new resource to to the XML DB and make it version controlled (DBMS_XDB.createResource and DBMS_XDB_VERSION.makeVersioned).
    3. Checkout the newly created version-controlled resource (DBMS_XDB_VERSION.checkout)
    4. Add metadata to the version-controlled resource (DBMS_XDB.appendResourceMetadata)
However, after step 4, the errors shown below are encountered:
    ========================================================
    begin
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxStrCopy: INLOB 2], [], [], [],
    ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XDB", line 890
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    ========================================================
The steps followed for adding metadata to a resource were taken from Chapter 26 of the "Oracle XML DB Developer's Guide 10G Release 2" (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb_repos_meta.htm#sthref2302).
Is is possible to append and maintain metadata to an XML DB version controlled resource (VCR)? If so, what are the correct steps to do this? Note that if this is tried with a resource that is not version controlled, then no errors are encountered.
    Thanks,
    Steve

It appears that this issue has been solved in the next release of the database

  • Jdev support with PVCS Version control system

    Hi,
Is there any JDev plugin available for PVCS source control system.
We have to use PVCS version control system for our SOA composites. If there is no plugin available, what is the approach commonly used for these scenarios.
    Thanks for your response.

Which JDev version do you use?
AFAIK there is no extension for PVCS available for 11g (check http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/131167.xml).
Anyway if you have an external tool which lets you work with PVCS you can use it outside of jdev without a problem. Depending on the interface you might be able to do some kind of integration into jdev using the 'External Tools...' interface.

  • New to JDeveloper/ADF, need to create a UI Mockup for a Version Control app

    Hi,
I have experience with Java/J2EE, however I'm new to both JDeveloper and ADF and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with what I'm trying to accomplish/start. We are working on a new application for a client and to kick start things I need to come up with a User Interface Mockup of a Version Control system we're going to create. It should be nothing fancy, and not very functional (for the time being) but should use some dummy data (preferably from a text file - just for demo purposes), be a one-page layout, and use Oracle ADF components (folder tree, datagrid, data view, xml view to be specific). Of course, it is requested that this all be done using JDeveloper/Oracle ADF. I was able to install both of these (it seems ADF is bundled with JDev), however that's about as far as I got. What steps do I need to take in order to come up with something simple like this? When I loaded up JDeveloper there are alot of options when creating a new project and I'm not sure what to choose. ANY help would be appreciated.

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for.
However, I'm having some trouble figuring out how to set up my Data Controls for the dummy data. I'd basically like to set up the entire page as follows:
A column on the left that displays a tree as follows:
    Folder 1
         ...File 1
         ...File 2
         ...File 3
    Folder 2
         ...File 1
         ...File 2
    Folder 3
         ...File 1
         ...File 3
         ...File 4
         ...File 5
    ..etc
The right side of the screen will have 3 "columns" or borders that will take up the entire screen, from top to bottom:
    List of Versions (large column)
    Version Data (smallest column)
    Version Text (large column)
    List of Versions:
When the user selects a "File" from the tree, a datagrid will appear that displays all versions of the selected file with columns like "File Name", "Version", "Date", and a checkbox to select a row.
    Version Data:
When the user selects a row using the checkbox, some relevant version info will display here. This info will come from the database when the final version of the app is written using various fields from the "Files" tables
    Version Text:
When the user selects a row using the checkbox, some relevant version CODE (possible to display code neatly?) will display here. This info will come from the database when the final version of the app is written using a field from the Files table that has not been seen yet
How would I go about setting something like this up? Using the sample you provided earlier, the example just has main categories on the left. I'm confused how to set up a fell fledged tree and then to incorporate the functionality I described above.
    ANY help would be appreciated.
