Version `GLIBC_2.12' not found

Hi,
I recently installed arch for the 1st time with Apache, PHP and MySQL.
When I try to install postfix, already in the 1st phase, I get an error. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Below is what I get. Apparently GLIBC_2.12 is not installed. How do I resolve this issue?
Thank you,
TC

  • [SOLVED] Upgrading after four month (version `GLIBC_2.16' not found)

    Hi all!
    After some time I decide to upgrade and starting with read the manual at the site.
    Firstly, I run
    pacman -Syu --ignore glibc,curl
    this exit successfully
    Secondly,
    pacman -Su
    but this give me error
    pacman: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.16' not found (required by /usr/lib/libarchive.so.12)
    pacman always return this error, so I don't install glibc manually
    help me, pls
    i tried to untar glibc-2.16.0-4
    tar -xvf glibc-2.16.0-4-i686.pkg.tar.xz -C /
    it exit with
    tar: lib: Cannot create symlink to `usr/lib': File exists
    tar: lib64: Cannot create symlink to `usr/lib': File exists
    tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
    ok, glibc untared(symlinks created with my hands in ramfs mode), but nothing happens (only kdm not start, but startx works) and error while i'm trying to use pacman is same

  • [solved] libc.so.6 version GLIBC_2.16 not found

    i have tried to upgrade arch today, and i am getting too deep,
    im stilll getting error message
    pacman: /lib/libc.so.6 version GLIBC_2.16 not found (required by /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4)
    i followed the instructions here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … iki:usrlib and am not getting anywhere. i am following the instructions here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1144268 and im also not getting anywhere with this.
    i did untar the package curl-7.26.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz from cache and tried to overwrite teh curl libs in /usr/lib and im still getting this error.  previously i ignored the unresolvable dependencies which i now feel is a mistake, the list is quite long, heres an example
    warning: ignoring package glibc-2.16.0-2
    warning: cannot resolve "glibc>=2.16", a dependency of "gcc-libs"
    :: The following packages cannot be upgraded due to unresolvable dependencies:
    binutils gcc gcc-libs
    Do you want to skip the above packages for this upgrade [y/N]
    and the actual ones i ignored that i still have to upgrade because they have been ignored are as follows
    pacman -Sd binutils dbus dbus-core gcc gcc-libs ghostscript glib2 glibmm gnutls grep gtk2 icu initscripts libcups libgl linux mesa mkinitcpio pcre php php-apache php-gd php-mcrypt php-pear phpmyadmin samba systemd-tools
    im going to stop here until i get some assistance if possible before i break anything.  i do have my original curl libs backed up to /tmp/pacman_build/usr directory
    where to go from here?

  • Libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.16' not found

    Hey everyone,
    I haven't used my Arch system for some months now, thus I had to go through the updating marathon with all these issues.
    I've read threads on the forums, guides and asked google for help. I think that I'm close to the finish line. But now I get this error message when using pacman:
    pacman: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.16' not found (required by /lib/libarchive.so.12)
    I probably messed something up.
    In this thread someone had a similar problem and was able to solve it, but he had to struggle with "libcurl.so.4" instead of "libarchive.so.12". So his "workaround" for the curl package is to no avail for me. How can I find out what package is affected by "libarchive.so.12"? And can I use a similar workaround?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    best regards
    Webmaniac

    I've installed Arch on a Raid0. When I try to enable the raid ("dmraid -ay") with the live cd, I get:
    [...]stripe:Couldn't parse stripe destination
    RAID set "isw_..._Volume0" was not detected
    ERROR: device "isw_..._Volume0" could not be found'
    Can't fix it.
    Is there any way that I can use pacstrap from an existing Ubuntu install? I could enable my raid with Ubuntu and then use pacstrap to fix my arch install, couldn't I?

  • [SOLVED] GLIBC_2.16 not found - Pacman broken

    Hi all,
    I did a packman -Syu yesterday and following instructions relative to glib errors I also performed it by excluding glibc.
    This resulting in the problem that now I have old GLIBC ( so I don't have simlink of lib).
    After rebooting my system was unable to boot anymore, I did a chroot and a mkinitcpio -p linux and now I can boot the system.
    The main problem is that I can't use pacman and a lot of stuff (samba service, firefox, and so on) due to this error:
    pacman: /lib/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.16' not found (required by /lib/libarchive.so.12)
    Before opening this new thread I did a lot of searching and I tried I think almost all solutions I've found.
    I already tried to use pacman cache for replacing libs, I already tried to downgrade curl...
    Any help is very very very appreciated, It's a workstation I'm using for CFD computation in my lab and I'm totally blocked!!! (I mean, CFD works at least )
    Thanks in advance, guys.

    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … iki:usrlib
    Try this from a chroot : pacman -U http://pkgbuild.com/~allan/glibc-2.16.0 … pkg.tar.xz
    If that fails, try extracting the 2.16.0-1 tarball to /  (and don't forget to reinstall glibc after you've solved the problem) .

    'GLIBC_2.17' not found (required by udevd)
    Can anyone help with this please? I'm at my wit's end.
    I did pacman -Syu , carefully following the advice at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … iki:usrlib.
    /lib turned into a symlink to usr/lib as promised - but my system has not booted since, throwing:
    udevd: /usr/lib/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.17' not found (required by udevd) ... and ending up at the recovery shell option.
    I burned archlinux-2013.01.04-dual.iso to a CD to try and rescue the situation, and that boots OK.  But I can't fix my 'upgraded' system - always coming back to the same problem on reboot.
    Can anyone tell me what I did wrong, and how to resurrect my system? - else I might have to go back to Debian!
    Thanks.

    I have found this thread on the problem but so far I have had no luck resolving the issues
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … iki:usrlib
    I have attempted to use the current version of curl, and curl7.26.0-1
    also the pacman -Syu --ignore glibc,curl has not worked.
    I am fairly new to Arch linux but am reasonably competent with computers. I have unfortunately inherited the computer and would really like to get it working again.
    Thanks for the help!

    Ok as I said i unfortunately inherited the computer, so I was not the one to go through the install of Arch.
    I have been using the computer without upgrading, but I would really like to get the computer working properly.
    The last upgrade was probably performed around a year ago. Please let me know any other specific information that would be useful.

  • Libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_3.4' not found

    I am using Solaris 8, Adobe Reader 7.0.9 and CDE.
    # ./acroread
    ld.so.1: acroread: fatal: libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_3.4' not found (required by file /usr/local/lib/libcairo.so.2)
    ld.so.1: acroread: fatal: libgcc_s.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
    Killed
    I have libgcc 3.4.6 installed (I have tried several versions of
    libgcc).
    I noticed that the Adobe Reader comes with its own version of
    libgcc. I have tried both the libgcc from the package, and the
    one contained in the Adobe tree: /usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/
    Reader/sparcsolaris/lib/libgcc_s.so.1
    I have set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/local/lib:/usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/
    Reader/sparcsolaris/lib:/lib
    Thanks
    stephen

    Thanks, Priyank,
    Your advice fixed the problem.
    Adobe Reader is now starting up without the libgcc error.
    **However,
    I now get another error message when I start /usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/acroread:
    "There was an error while loading the plug-in SOAP.api.
    The Plug-in failed to load"
    The application then exits without any more
    messages. I tried removing the SOAP.api, but then
    acroread displays the banner, then exits with no error messages.
    Thanks,
    stephen

  • Libefi.so.1: version `SUNWprivate_1.1' not found error

    Hello All,
    I am trying ot hook up some USB storage devices to a Sol 10 box. The USB is recognized and I want now to format and partition it.
    I am attempting to use rmformat to do this, but get the following error immediately after typing the command.
    ld.so.1: rmformat: fatal: libefi.so.1: version `SUNWprivate_1.1' not found (required by file /usr/bin/rmformat)
    ld.so.1: rmformat: fatal: libefi.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
    The box has the minimal OS install package with the latest Recommended Patch Cluster applied.
    Any help is much appreciated!

    This happens when your library path is not correctly set.
    your libefi.so.1 is surely located at /usf/sfw/lib (try to search it)
    Run the command : crle
    And set the news paths :
    crle -l /usr/lib:/lib:/usr/sfw/lib

  • [SOLVED]`GLIBC_2.14' not found

    I tried to update openssl on an older machine, and now am getting:
    "`GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0)"
    for various commands including pacman.  I have the glibc-2.14.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz pkg on my machine, but cannot install it.  Lots of stuff doesn't work, does anyone know how I can fix this?

    That's strange - sure it doesn't say "2.15"?
    You should have recompiled openssl, rather than changed just 2 of its files. That's very unsafe - e.g. what about /usr/lib/engines/*.so?

    Um, I have exact the same problem while starting some deamons (yestarday it was cups, but reinstalling heimdal solved it, today it's ssh), I have no packages ignored in pacman and I don't quite know what to do.
    $ sudo /etc/rc.d/sshd start

    /usr/sbin/sshd: /usr/lib/libkrb5.so.25: version `HEIMDAL_KRB5_1.0' not found (required by /usr/sbin/sshd)

    /EDIT: reinstalling openssh solved the problem, but still, I would like to know why pacman didn't upgrade ssh, as he should do this while pacman -Suy

  • ERROR: [Hsi 55-1594] Core lwip141 of version 2.2 not found in repositories (can't modify BSP)

    While trying to modify the BSP setting for the socket_apps_bsp  (socket_apps reference design from: XAPP1026) I got the following error (after clicking the "Modify this BSP's Settings" button):
    The following errors were found parsing C:\Kintex-7\ref_design_32K\socket_apps_bsp\system.mss
    ERROR: [Hsi 55-1594] Core lwip141 of version 2.2 not found in repositories
    Not sure what this is supposed to mean or what the fix is. I'm running the 2014.3 SDK and I'm using the reference design from last week (dated 10-24-2014, I believe). I can run the webserver in that reference design on the microblaze ok, I see the webpage displyed, however, I do not see the LEDs toggle when pushing the LED Toggle button. I traced this to this section of code in the platform_gpios.c file:
    #include "xparameters.h"
    #if defined(XPAR_LEDS_8BITS_BASEADDR)
    #define LED_BASE XPAR_LEDS_8BITS_BASEADDR
    #elif defined(XPAR_LEDS_4BITS_BASEADDR)
    #define LED_BASE XPAR_LEDS_4BITS_BASEADDR
    #elif defined(XPAR_LEDS_6BIT_BASEADDR)
    #define LED_BASE XPAR_LEDS_6BIT_BASEADDR
    #else
    #define NO_GPIOS
    #endif
    The #define NO_GPIOS gets defined there because none of the definitions that are checked from teh xparameters.h file are defined and so no LEDs actually get toggled. So I figured I would need to somehow change this in the BSP,  hence I ran into the problem above. If there is another way to set either XPAR_LEDS_8BITS_BASEADDR, XPAR_LEDS_4BITS_BASEADDR, XPAR_LEDS_6BIT_BASEADDR I'd be interested in finding that out as well. (I'm using the KC-705 board, which of those should be defined?)

    I have exactly the same problem and ther is no reply here.. could you solve this issue?? thank you so much!
