Version Name vs File Name

When I import files, the result seems to adhere to the Version Name I enter in the Input Inspector panel.
But then, when I'm in Brower Line Mode, I see that the Filename reflects projects I imported a week ago, alongside the correct Version Name.
Should I care? What am I missing?

Hi,
Please keep in mind that we are communicating with each other through a very thin wire: strings of words you type show on my screen.  Short strings.  We use terms with care in order to make our communication possible.
"Orthodox" is a strange way to put that.  "Correct" is the term I would use.
"HUD" means Heads-Up Display.  "Brick" refers to the Adjustment panes that show stacked in the Adjustment Inspector.  The Aperture glossary is here.
In order for any of us to answer your question -- which we'd like to do  -- we need to know to what you refer.  Even though you've asked and re-asked, I still can't tell what you are asking.
We know what List View is.  It can have columns that show the Version Name and the File Name.
The Version Name is determined by the File Naming Preset you use when you import.  The File Naming Preset is selected in the "Rename Files" section of the Import Settings.  You can rename Versions at any time.
The File Name is the name of the Image's Original.  You can change this on Import to match the Version Name specified File Naming Preset by checking the box "Rename Original File".  File names cannot be readily changed.  (You must use "Metadata➞Batch Change➞Version Name Format" and check "Apply to Original files".
Does that help resolve your issue?

  • Clip name to file name

Needs to be away to make clip names to file names.
Some files are loaded by other people. They did not name the file right.
It would be nice to have a plugin or apple scrip to do this.

Actually, it's not exactly an automatic procedure - just because you change the name in the Browser, doesn't mean the .mov on your hard drive gets changed. You actually have to either go Modify > Rename (from the Menubar) or control-click with the clips in question corrected, to even get the options.
And, for what it's worth, there is also the option to go backwards (Match Clip to File Name) for the instances when folks get a little to crazy with the clip renaming.
As for file name changes, the renaming does not cascade through to closed projects, you'll have to relink media the next time you open them. However, in a nice touch, FCP does re-write the source property for clips in other open projects - that are linked to the media file in question - when you alter the file name (so those clips won't go offline).

  • X79A-GD65 (8D) MSIHQ error 654 Specified path name or file name is invalid.

    Hello,
    First, excuse my poor english...
I would like to flash the 7760 v1.8 bios of my motherboard to install windows 8.1 on a crucial M500 480Go (yet, installing W8.1 after connect M500 on SATA1 6Go next to my M4 SSD with W7, causes errors during installation and I guess it is because i think the SSD is not correctly recognized by the bios and Windows 8.1 requires bios and ME updates.)
I download the last bios on MSI site (http://us.msi.com/product/mb/X79AGD65_8D.html#/?div=BIOS) and install MSIHQ Tool 1.25g software to make an USB stick for flashing as describe here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0
But when i point on the archive (3.1. Method 1: Processing a BIOS Archive Directly (ZIP/RAR)), MSIHQ can not open the archive and tell me: ERROR 654 Specified path name or file name is invalid.
Yet when I use the same method to flash my bios from 1.6 to 1.8, it had gone well ... What to do?  Should I use the method described on the download page: http://fr.msi.com/files/pdf/Bios_update_SOPAll.pdf ?
    Thank you and good day.

No, no...  I know what a dual boot if it is what you say, I did it for years. I also made two differents drives with two separate systems boot : a Hdd with xp and boot.ini , and another with windows 7 and mbr. After installing the first OS first on a disc, you disconnect this HDD and connecting the second to receive the second OS. There is no dual boot because I did not boot on the same partition then let me choose between 2 OS placed on two differents drives or two partitions, but I boot well on two differents disks , each with their own boot files this just saves me the dual boot which I find too heavy. On a Gigabyte X48T -DQ6 with the F12 key , you choose what HDD boot . Same I think with the F11 key X79A - gd65 : "Press DEL key to enter Setup Menu , F11 to enter Boot Menu" and then you choose between booting on either disc. In the case cited above , it is then that we arrive on the mbr of windows 7 on a disc or boot.ini windows xp on the other. So you do not answer my question, it seems to me :-) I wonder if I'm clear, there ...;-)
    thanks very much...

  • Version Name to File Name

I have been able to maintain the info that I want in "Version Name", and would now like to move that to the "File Name" field. I have not been able to find a technique in Aperture to make this change. I could export, then import with the new file name, but I have hundreds of photos in different projects that I want to change. Does anybody have an idea how to do this?

Are your photos referenced or managed? Referenced photos are kept on a hard drive of your choice and managed photos are stored in the Aperture library. Once I know this, I can give you specific instructions.

  • What is the b2b setup for identifying TP names from file name in Inbound tx

    Hi,
I am using B2B 11g version and documents of type ANSI-X12. I am working for Inbound Transaction and using Generic File protocol in Listening channel.
    File format is : %FROM_PARTY%_%TO_PARTY%_%DOCTYPE_NAME%_%DOCTYPE_REVISION%.dat
How can i make B2B to identify Trading partner names from the file name once the remote trading partner put the file in the specified path with the specified format "%FROM_PARTY%_%TO_PARTY%_%DOCTYPE_NAME%_%DOCTYPE_REVISION%.dat" mentioned in the delivery channel.
Now B2B is identifying Trading partner names from the Interchange Sender ID(ISA06) and Interchange Reciever ID(ISA08) of the ISA Segment. Please help me , how to make B2B to identify the trading partner names from the file name instead of from identifiers coming in ISA Segment.
    Thanks,
    Sridhar Rachumallu

    Hi Anuj,
1)Now i am giving the file name for inbound documents in the format of "%FROM_PARTY%_<UniqueNumber/Timestamp>.dat" . But still B2B Identifying the TPNames at runtime from the ISA Segment elements ISA06 & ISA08 element values. I want to make B2B to identify the TPNames at run time from the file name instead of from ISA Segments.
Please tell me how can i do these?
    2) I am giving exact Remote Trading partner Default Identifier Type 'NAME' value for "%FROM_PARTY% in the file format and i want B2B to identify the TP name at runtime based on the value of "%FROM_PARTY%" . If the value of "%FROM_PARTY%"is matching with any one of the Trading partner Default Identifier Type 'NAME' value than it should go for furthur else B2B should through error as " the TP name unable to found".
    3) Please tell me how B2B Identify trading partners at runtime in the business case given below
    - Inbound Transaction from remote TP to Host TP
    - Document protocol is 'ANSI-X12'
    - Listening channel protocol is 'Generic File'
This is very urgent.. Please give the reply As soon as possible.

And i bet a million dollars that even you don't
search the forum before posting anything . So stop
suggesting that .Too bad that I wasn't included in the bet. You won't be coz you are a veteran and it's from you and the other veterans(I will include my peers as well) that i learnt a lot including good googling.
    It happens
that I search the forum before I post an answer.
Searching the forum using google is actually very
effective.Yes and thats the very reason i didn't mention googling in that reply because i know that google gives the results from the threads in the forum as i myself have read a lot of posts at this forum using google and obtained solutions. But it's a different case when a person has to manually search the forum(without google) to see if a topic matches his needs and as i just mentioned off lately most of the posts come out with crappy headers like "Please Help Me" ; "Error" ; "Can't compile" ; "Help Needed" ; "What's wrong in this".How much sense does these headers make with respect to the what the post is really about. One can't expect a person to verify each such post with such crappy headers and read each's contentns.Just imagine how frustrating it is.Even the posters lose their cool when someone posts with such titles. Then just imagine what will be the condition of the person who is asked to check the forum before posting. But i totally endorse googling. There is no pardon or any sort of respite for a person who has posted without googling which would have fetched him top notch answers.
    Oh God!That looks really long!

  • Set Folder Name From File Name Inclosed.

    Hello scripters,
There has been quite a few topics about setting file names from parent folders. I believe it's possible but not sure how to reverse this process. That is to say set the folder name from a file in the folder. This is what I'm imagining.
I've got a folder. In the folder are 100 folders with the names "untitled folder xxx" In side I've got files that are all named and numbered.
    For example,
    untitled folder/B-day 001~050.jpg
untitled folder 50/At The Park 001~020.jpg
I would like a script to change the name of the parent folder of the files that it houses.
    So untitled folder becomes
    B-Day
    untitled folder 50 becomes
    At The Park
    etc…
I think getting the name of the first file (minus the index number) would be easiest.
Any help or futher questions are greatly appreciated.
    Maximilian

    Working backwards...
Assuming all the files have the same name structure (e.g. end in the format "xxx~xxx.jpg" you can get the base name using:
    <pre class=command>set baseName to characters 1 through -13 of filename as text</pre>
This cuts off the last 12 characters of the file name.
Once you have a folder, you can get the names of files in the folder via the Finder. for sanity's sake I'd ask the Finder for the first item, just in case there's more than one file:
<pre class=command>set filname to name of first item of (files of folder theFolder)</pre>
And if all the folders are in one top folder, you can iterate through them like:
<pre class=command>repeat with eachFolder in (every folder of folder topFolder)</pre>
So now, string it all together:
<pre class=command>tell application "Finder" -- we'll use the Finder to do the legwork
set topFolder to (choose folder with prompt "Choose the top level folder" ) -- get the top folder
repeat with eachFolder in (every folder of folder topFolder)
set fileName to name of first file of (files of folder topFolder)
set baseName to characters 1 through -13 of fileName as text
set name of folder eachFolder to baseName
    end repeat
    end tell</pre>
Note there's no error checking - the script will fail if there are no files in any particular folder, but it should get you going.

  • Source name not file name

    Hi Everyone...
Lost and replaced a drive... Now I need to recapture...
But then the ensuing dialogue informs me (for every selected offline clip) that another file called " " already exists.
Sure enough, the clips' item properties tell me their source file name is " " (as in blank)
I can get around this through the dialogue sequence, but I have to retype the name of file " " as part of the capturing sequence.
So the question basically is: how do I change the name of the 'source', without too much headache?
I've had this before when drives played up... And a real headache it was, too...
    Thanks, David

    LOL.
That XML solution is something you can't test until you get a project like David has.
A client had one recently in which the Source name for almost all the clips in the Browser was 'Mac OS'. Therefore, when he'd try to batch capture, he'd get lots of Duplicate Filename error messages, and there was no solution until I tried the XML thing.
After I exported to XML, I looked at the raw XML file, and it still showed the 'Mac OS' Source names (you have to enable the Source column in the Browser BEFORE you export to XML to have that column of data show up in the XML file.) But after I did the Import into a new project's Browser, the Source filenames were all corrected. It was like magic.
If anyone would like to see this work, I still have my client's project, and could Email it out. My Email address is in my Profile.

  • Split PDF and use field name for file name

I have a pdf file with 333 pages that I will be splitting into 333 separate pfd files.  Each file needs a specific name that corresponds to a number located in the header of each individual page.
Splitting the pdf is easy, unfortunately I can only use a static name for part of the file name and Adobe assigns the remaining portion with: _Part1.pdf; _Part2.pdf ect....  How can I get the "_Part1" to pull in the number located in the header of each individual page?
I need to have this done before tommarow morning and there is another PDF which will be 555 files after it is split.
    Thanks for any help!

    Yes,
I also know Profit Center field from R/3.
    However as I've mentioned....
I need to ADD the field "Profit Center" in this TAB
I do not even know if this field "Profit center" that I need to ADD is the same field from R/3.
    <b>You know....</b>
    I found "Profit Center"
    screen number: 0200
    program name: SAPLCRM_1O_MANAG_UI
    structure: ZCRMT_0200_BTX_UI01
    field name: ZZCUSTOMER_I0101
    data element: ZEEW_DATAELEMENT0101
    <b>However...</b>
If I add this field above, the field does not display in the TAB I want. Meaning this field is not working.
    <b>For Instance:</b>
In the same TAB (I want to add Profit Center), I have the field with:
    - description name field "Services Revenue"
By pressing F1/Tech Info, I have:
    screen number: 0200
    Program name: SAPLCRM_1O_MANAG_UI
    Structure: ZCRMT_0200_BTX_UI01
    Field name: ZZCUSTOMER_I0101
Does anyone has any idea to help me outto fimd Profit Center field?

  • How to have files have 2 names, my file name and client file name?

I need to name files for a corporate client in a very specific way for them, however I'd rather also keep my file name structure. I could output the files and rename them, but then when they come back to me and ask for retouching etc on a particular file, I wouldn't have that name in my archive (I'm delivering several thousand files).
Is there a way to have 2 files names associated with the files, or embed the original file name in the files metadata somewhere. Please keep in mind there are several thousand files, so need this to be automatic.
    Thanks!

The way I solve a similar problem is to give each photo a copy name that matches the client's requested name. Then export the files with the option to rename using the copy name and send them. This way I can maintain my own naming structure and keep track of the files sent under a different file name. I do it in a much, much, smaller scale (tens of images at most each time) and it works really well for me, but using this method for several thousand images can be a huge task, that I'd rather not take

  • Form module name/ form file name(.fmx)

We're migrating from windows to unix - 10g r2. Though unix filenames are case-sensitive it appears that the module names are not and that the forms filenames must be in upper case to be called throught the open_form, call_form etc. In other words, even though we make the call as open_form('abc') and the file exists as abc.fmx, it fails to open. Is this the correct behavior or are we missing something?

Ok, operator error. Since we are on unix, case is becoming an issue. The issue we are struggling with is compile time vs. runtime. Maybe we are the only ones out there, but this is pretty confusing. Wish there was a doc out there that explains all this.
If we understand this correctly, during compile time the .pll, .olb files are referenced in the working directory - the current directory we are compiling in, as we keep all the forms, menus, olb, pll files in the same directory. During runtime the FORMS_PATH is where these get referenced so we need to be sure that the .pll, .olb are the same in this directory as what we used during the compilation. Must be the case as forms compile fine, but then get runtime errors - the dreaded ora--06508. Again, we assume there is a case-sensitive issue as, unfortuneately, some of the .pll, .olb files are upper and some are lower, which is what we are trying to resolve.
Since we develop on windows, and it is not case sensitive, simply changing the filenames to lowercase and compiling there works just fine. But it seems once they are attached, they are attached by the original filename.
So, my question is, is there a simple way to change the reference inside the .fmb on the unix machine to lower-case these references to libs without going into each form and manually unattaching and reattaching the libs so they will be in-sync with the lowercase file names we prefer to use on unix.

  • Navigation link name vs file name

    Greetings!
Is there any way to have the file name associated with a page be different than what is on the navigation bar?
For example, I changed the name of my "welcome" page to "Home" and i think iWeb is creating a file named "Home.html".
Is there any way to have the name of this page be "index.htm" and still be called "Home" on the navigation bar?
    Thanks so much!
    Margie

Thank-you for the tips link. Yes, I'm going to be uploading the pages to a non-.Mac server.
The reason I want to name my home page "index.htm" is that I'm thinking about updating an existing website that I coded manually. The pages are already out there and have been indexed in the search engines so I don't want to rename them. Its not just the home page I'm having this issue with. For example. The "customer service" page currently has navigation links that say just that: "customer service", but the actual page is named "custsvc.htm". The tips page suggest to not use spaces; however, I want to call that page "Customer Service" in the navigation bar and name the file "custsvc.htm". Is that possible?
I really like the templates in iWeb, but I really don't want to change the names of my pages.

  • FileBase Name versus file name

What is the difference between File name and file base name?  usage is Ctril J and selecting display options.

FileName includes the FileExtension (.JPEG, .CR2, .NEF, .DNG etc), the FileBaseName does not.

  • Class name and file name should be same??

    Hi All,
I am having tweo public classes in a file like this:
    public class A
    // Class body
    public class B extends A
    // Class body
    public static void main(String args[])
    // Function body
when I compile its giving the following error:
B.java:1: class A is public, should be declared in a file named A.java
Why it is so.whats wrong in this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jana.

In C you have to write a "make-file" for your project (or it's written for you).
In java there are no "projects". If the JVM needs a class it is looking for a file with this name in the classpath.
