Version of iLife & iMovie for PowerPC G5 1.8GHz?

iMovie 6.03 does not work on the PowerPC G5 1.8GHz running
MacOS 10.5.8.
Does anyone know what version of iMovie and iLife does work on it and where that version can be downloaded?

The download page for iMovie is http://support.apple.com/downloads/#imovie but, rediculously, it does not say anything about the hardware requirements; only the OS.

Your best bet would be iMovie HD 6. You COULD run iMovie '08 or '09 as an unsupported installation, but I won't go into details.

  • How to install iDVD/iMovie on Tiger if you have the Leopard version of iLif

I have iLife '09 and iWork '09. Will these work on Tiger 10.4.11? I bought those for my Leopard computer. But the computer with Tiger I don't think it will run on it. How do I get the Tiger version of iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto, and all the other apps included in iLife and iWork? Would I have to get another CD and pay full price?

iWork '09 will work with Tiger.

  • Please Include iMovie HD 6 in Next Version of iLife

Please include iMovie HD 6 in the next version of iLife. It is a great product and very different from iMovie '08. If necessary, call it (or iMovie '08) by another application name. I miss many of the features of iMovie HD 6, but the lack of plug-in support is the most disappointing. For example GeeThree's Slick plug-ins are amazingly powerful and easy to use. I've created several movies for friends and in the process convinced a few to be 'Switchers.'
If you don't include iMove HD 6 in the next version of iLife, I suspect that you will eventually stop supporting it. However, based on the recent feature additions ('add backs') with the Leopard 10.5.2 update, I'm confident that you are listening and responding to customer requests.
    Thank you.

Please include iMovie HD 6 in the next version of iLife.
    IT IS!
Remember that Apple includes iMovie 06 is a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html
You are acting like iMovie 06 is obsolete. iMovie 06 is _very much_ alive and well. Most owners of iLife 08 I know use iMovie 06.
There is only one logical answer. The next version of iLife (09?) will have to include iMovie 'elements' (Based on iMovie 08) and iMovie 'Pro' (Based on iMovie 06). I for one, would gladly pay over $100 just for a iMovie 'Pro' (Based on iMovie 06).
I look forward to an upgrade of iMovie 06, (iMovie Pro?) until that time Apple still provides us with excellent tools with BOTH iMovie 08 and iMovie 06.

  • Last Compatible Version Of iMovie For OS X Mavericks

    Hey everyone,
I still using Mavericks as many do, I done a clean install and would like to download latest version of iMovie instead recover from my time machine one(imvid version 10.0.5), I want to know what is the latest version for mavericks so I didn't mis any features.
I tried to download in my purchase page, but it said do you want to download last compatible version, then I choose yes, I not sure what version it download but look like the new one for os x yosemite because from the new "jelly" like icon of iMovie. But does Mavericks support that? or maybe the first version?
and does mavericks iMovie support sony xavc s code?
    Many thanks!!!

"what is the latest version for mavericks"     iMovie 10.0.5 is the latest version supported by Mavericks.
does mavericks iMovie support sony xavc s code?   No.  support for sony xavc s was introduced into the latest version, 10.0.7, which requires Yosemite - see this article:

  • This version of iMovie cannot import Trailers created in iMovie for iOS.

I have the latest verison of iMovie on both my Mac and iPad 3g. I used a trailer on the iPad iMovie and exported it to iTunes. On my Mac I went to iTunes and pulled the file down and clicked to open it. After iMovie can up it dispalyed "This version of iMovie cannot import Trailers created in iMovie for iOS."
    How can this be?

I'm having the same problem.  I've check the instructions for exporting a Movie trailer that can be found in iMovie for iOS 6 and have followed them to a tee, numerous times.  Each time i export a trailer i've created using the iPad, i can easily save it to my MacBookPro.  But iMove on my laptop refuses to import a movie with the suffix ".iMoveTrailer", which is what you get in iMove for iOS6 when you export and use iTunes in Mac OS to save the file.  How strange?  There must be someting wrong going on here.  Anyoner have any thoughts?  I'm just trying to save an iMove trailer from the iPad and would like to burn it to a DVD to give to friends.  Hmmmm.....

  • How can I get a fullscreen version of my iMovie to play for friends?

I have uploaded my 8 minute iMovie 08 to my .mac site. When I send the link to friends, they see the movie play in a very small window. It also is fuzzy and unfocused. How can I get a fullscreen version of my iMovie to play for friends? Also the volume of the segment is very low even though when I made it it played normally.

Suggest that you cross-post in the iMovie '08 Forums.

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Need Firefox 3.6 for powerpc iMac with OS 10.5, where can I find a download. Newer versions won't work

Had this version, loved it. Mistakenly upgraded and replaced with 4, which cannot run on this architecture. Need to find earlier version again, can't locate it on your site. Please make available for us who have older macs.

  • What was the latest version of Adobe Flash Player for PowerPC. And where can I download it.

It`s all said in the headline. Hoping for an answer.
    Thank You

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Installing previous versions of ilife on (mid 2007) imac

deciding about ordering my a new 20" imac 2.4GHZ to replace my G5 imac. I enjoy ilife '08 for some things and still use imovie HD 6.3 for my video editing. I even use the themes from earlier imovie's. Can I install earlier versions of imovie from my iLife '04,'05, '06 discs, while leaving ilife '08 still installed on my new imac (mid 2007) so idvd an iphoto and iweb are the latest. I guess I may want to Manually install earler versions of ilife and then re-install ilfe '08 from the install disc of the new imac, and its really the idvd themes from current to past, that I still want access to.
    Any help is appreciated

I guess what I really need to do is wait till Leopard is released, a better buying decision anyway for a new mac.
    1. Then reformat drive install Leopard 10.5.x with out installing iLife Applications then install iLife '06 and then use the install disc that came with my new mac to upgrade the iLife apps to life '08 and I will still have imovieHD in a separate folder automatically.
    2. If, take a new imac (mid 2007 ) out of the box and open idvd and click on the themes button will it show idvd themes 7/ 6 / 5 / and older themes? I guess that is the main question that I have?

  • IMovie for PAL using 1080i DV

I have taken a lot of DV footage with a Sont HDR-HC3 that shoots in 1080i. When projected directly from the camera onto my 1080i Panasonic screen, the quality of the footage is outstanding. However when captured through iMovie HD 6 and burn a DVD with iDVD I get very poor results. The problems range from the burned DVD not playing in a conventional DVD player to poor reproduction when the burned DVD is replayed in my iMac. In fact the result look a bit like you are looking through some sort of window blind - the type with the horizontal slats.
I want to burn my DVD in PAL format and I think I have the right settings. However, when I read the various posts on this site I get the feeling that I have messed up at the very beginning. In iMovie I set the New Project frame Rate to 29.97 which I now realise is for NTSC and that I should have used 25 for PAL. So I think I have been the master of my own problems. Am I on the right track here? If I picked the wrong frame rate is this the sort of problem I would get?
If I am right, then it leads me to the question, do I have to recapture all of my DV footage from the tapes again and start right back at the beginning. Or, can I just change the Frame Rate to 25 and Share my iMovie with iDVD and it will now get it right?
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards
    John

Lennart's given you all the right answers.
You need to re-import. First go to iMovie Preferences (click on the name iMovie HD at top-left of your iMovie window, then choose Preferences, and under 'General' choose "New Project frame rate is:" and set it to 25 fps). That tells iMovie to use PAL settings - for the next and subsequent projects.
Then close the Prefs and choose File and New..
..and click the little "disclosure triangle" alongside 'Video format:' and choose HDV 1080i..
You'll now need to re-import your footage, and it'll import correctly as PAL (25 frames per sec) hi-def.
Before using iDVD, go to its Preferences, and also set it to PAL, as it defaults to 30 fps/NTSC settings!
When sending your iMovie project to iDVD the quality will be reduced to standard-def instead of hi-def ..but it should play on any normal DVD player ..the slower the speed you use you burn it, the better should be the compatibility with all players (..i.e; burn at 2x instead of 4x, for example).
DVD Studio Pro - (expensive) Apple software - lets you burn hi-def DVDs on the ordinary(!) DVD Superdrive burner in your Mac. HOWEVER, the result is playable only on a Mac, and not on any normal DVD player.
It's possible that the next version of "iLife" (..i.e; iMovie HD 7 and the next version of iDVD..) may allow hi-def DVDs to be burned, using, for instance, and external Blu-Ray/HD burner. But that's just a supposition..
So to play your edited movie in hi-def on your "..1080i Panasonic screen.." export your edited movie back to tape, if your HC3 camera lets you, and then play it from the camera to your HDTV.
Although iMovie HD accepts and edits hi-def, there aren't many options - yet - for getting your edited hi-def movie onto some 'delivery format' (tape, DVD) in order for it to be seen by other people! ..Editing is only half the business; showing the edited movie in hi-def is another matter entirely!
[..If you're ever going to use an external drive for storing or working on movies, I'd swap that "..Maxtor USB ext drive.." for a FireWire drive, because although USB 2 is fast, it can't handle the sustained throughput speeds which video needs ..whereas FireWire does.]

  • Uploading an IMovie for web viewing

Each week I video tape my grandaughter's hockey game. About 12.5 gig. What do I have to do to get it onto a website so that the players could log on and view a game?

In iMovie, if you "Share" and choose "Web" that will make a nice sized movie for Web consumption. If you have .mac, you can even create a webpage automatically as well (using iWeb depending on what version of iLife you have).
