  • Need specific version of Report Builder

    Hello all,
I'm trying to get a version of Report Builder to match exactly with the version my client has, but I'm not sure where to find it. I have Report Builder 6i (ver. 6.0.8.11.3), and my client says he has ver. 6.0.8.27.0. Is there a patch out there to upgrade mine to match his version? If not, is there any other way to get the same version?
On a related note, what was the last-released version of Report Builder 6i?

    Problem solved, here's the solution:
I found the patch on metalink.oracle.com
The patchset I needed was: 4948577

  • How to check the report builder version from the rdf file

    Hi,
I have a rdf file but I don't the developer using which version of report builder to develop the rdf file. So, does anyone knows how to check the rdf file is developed by which version of report builder?
When I try to use the notepad to open the rdf file, it shows the string "ROS.60050". So, does it means that the rdf file is developed by Oracle report 6i?
Besides, do anyone knows if Oracle report 6i are still offer from Oralce (as I know, the latest verison of oracle report is 11g). So, in case Oralce not offer oracle 6i and I need to buy oracle report 11g, do u know it is compatiable or I need to do the migration from 6i to 11g?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The ROS version you are seeing in the RDF file does not mean the version where that RDF was developed. I am not aware of a way to check this but something that may help is that when you try to open a RDF developed in a higher version
of Reports with a lower version of Reports builder the following warning will be displayed
Warning. Opening a report saved with a newer version of Reports Builder.
    Functionality may be lost. Continue?
"You tried to open a report with a version of Reports Builder older than the version used to
create the report. If the report uses functionality unavailable in the older version, that
functionality will be eliminated from the report.
Regarding Oracle Developer 6i. This version is not supported any more. Regarding how to upgrade Reports 6i to 11g and what to have in mind during the upgrade please review the following documentation.

  • Report Builder RDF, XML, REP and Version Control

I'm looking to convert our existing RDF reports to XML format to better support version control and have a few questions.
    - Are there any issues with converting these RDF files to XML and developing them going forward?
    - When it's time to deploy to the server we'll convert them to RDF or REP. Any issues?
    - This question was asked before, [Thread: Oracle Reports Builder - RDF vs XML|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=721959], but that was over 3 years ago. Have the issues been resolved?
    - Is anyone currently following the workflow I've outlined with success?

    Hi Michael,
Per my understanding that you want to find a solution for version control when you design the report using the Report Builder 3.0, right?
As you know that Report Builder is a tool which can only work on one single file instead of a project , so the current version of Report Builder doesn't have these capabilities. You can submit a feature request about it on the  Microsoft UserVoice site
    here:
    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/category/53187-sql-bi-tools-srs-ssis-ssas-
Generally, visual Studio Team System and Visual Source Safe integrate with the Visual Studio/BIDS shell and third-party source control solutions like SVN managed from the file system play well with version control. So I would suggest you to consider use
    them instead.
In conclusion, one possible workaround for you is that you can save all .rdl files in third part tool’s(TFS) workspace folder for version control purpose (check in, check out with the Windows Shell Extension), and you can use Report Builder to edit these
report files. Then use Report Builder to deploy the .rdl file to Report Server.

  • Report builder TfrmconfiguredHSDRS error

I am getting an error when I try to create a RDS Server on my laptop version of report builder.  The error is in a pop up window and says: Object: TfrmconfiguredHSDRS  Exception: List index out of bounds (2)   See error log for stack trace.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.  I have a desktop running same op sys and CF versions and all is well.  Compared the CF settings for RDS with the laptop and no difference.
Any idea what to do to get past this?
    Thanks!

    Hi nikp11,
According to your description, you recently updated SQL Server 2008 R2 to SP3, Report Builder doesn’t work since then the error occurs: "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue".
This is an known issue in SSRS 2008 R2 SP3 that Microsoft has published an article addressing this issue. It is not planning to release a fix for this issue. But we could implement one of the following workarounds:
Install and run Report Builder 3.0 of SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM.
Install and run Report Builder of SQL Server 2014.
Uninstall Service Pack 3 then uninstall Service Pack 2 and then reinstall Service Pack 3.

Report Builder of SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 3 does not launch
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Add subquery to main query in Report Builder 6i

Usually, when you add a subquery to an existing query in a report, you'll see the query in data model marked by a paper clip icon with a forward slash across it (means "Subquery Inside"). All current field names in current query (except CF and CS) will have a '1' appended after it (CF and CS fields are not affected), but in your sql, the column names stay the same. So there is an out-of-sync situation with the column names.
    To fix this:
    1) before change anything, back up old report somewhere else
    2) copy the original query somewhere else as backup
    3) open the query in Report Builder
    4) wipe out the query, replace it by "select 1 from dual" to reset it and press ok.
    5) replace "select 1 from dual" with your new query with an embedded subquery.
    6) All field names will be without the '1' appendix.
    7) check all the CS fields, the source should be reset to null. Redefine the CS fields using backed up report as reference. CF fields are not affected.
    8) move the fields and restore the break orders according to backed up report.
    9) Recompile whole report.
    10) save report again and you're done.
Maybe you don't need this in the latest version of Report Builder, but in 6i, this is what I do.

If you use aliases for your item names in your original query you avoid this problem....
    eg
    Select field1 item1, field2 item2 from table.....
item 1 and item2 will stay in your layout between query changes.

  • ApplicationIntent and Report Builder

I have a SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn AG setup including the read-only intent for a secondary. I setup a data source to point to the Listener with the data source type of Microsoft SQL Server entry to include ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly. The Test connection was
successful. When I created a new report and added a dataset using that datasource and asks for data source credentials, I specify use the current windows user. I get the error "Unable to connect to data source" with Details - "Keynword not supported:
    'applicationintent'.
I see that there was a fix for .NET but that seems to apply to XP and 2008R2.
    What wrong?
I should also mention that I am using Report Builder 3.0 that I had used for 2008 R2 reports. I see that there seems to be a 2012 Report Builder version (I can't find where the version of Report Builder is indicated?). Is that the problem? Can this version
be used for 2008 R2 reports - backward compatible?

I am running the 2012 version of Report Builder 3.0. My build is 11.0.2100.60 (installed several months ago). You can find this by opening the filesystem location where MSReportBuilder.exe resides, right-click MSReportBuilder.exe, choose properties, Select
Details. The File and Product versions are there.
I don't have a similar SQL server setup to test against so I can't answer the initial question but it won't hurt to install the latest report builder anyway. Then try it again and see what happens. Good luck.

  • Report Builder is crashing... 6i, 9i and 10g

    Dear All,
During my experience with all versions of report builder, all versions crash from time to time when building reports.
Is there any way to get rid from this??

I noticed crashing of the builder on Windows 2000 running in VM. After applying SP4 on Windows 2000 the issue was gone.
Crashing is mostly caused by wrong datamodel coding is my experience.

  • Report Builder 1.0 .RDL Files on Report Builder 3.0

My group has developed a lot of .rdl files using Report Builder 1.0 over the years and we're finally upgrading to Report Builder 3.0 with SQL Server 2014.  Will our old .rdl files still work on the new version?

    Hi ericvanburen,
According to your description, you want to know if the .rdl file created in Report Builder 1.0 can be available in Report Builder 3.0. Right?
Report Builder 3.0 is used to create reports in a familiar, Microsoft Office-like authoring environment. It has backward compatibility. You can customize and update all existing reports, regardless of whether they were created in Report Designer or in the
    previous versions of Report Builder.

  • Will Report Builder 2012 Work with SQL Server 2008???

    Simple question really
Will Report Builder 2012 work in conjunction with SQL Server 2008???
    Is it worth while upgrading?
The main reason i ask is the ability to export in an xlsx format
    Thanks

    Hi Gmach,
The version of Report Builder on SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) 2012 is Report Builder 3.0. The Report Builder 3.0 manufactures 2010 RDL reports, so it only works with the version of SQL Server 2008 R2 or later. So in your scenario, we can no connect
to SQL Server 2008 Server using Report Builder that on SSRS 2012.

  • Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    Hi All,
The report builder in my system is behaving weirdly. If I open a report, which is having a normal browser output, it allowing me to see the data model, layout model and everything. And if I open a report, which is having a PDF output, it's not allowing me to open the Layout.
Here the output is in context of Oracle Applications front-end. And as I know it shouldn't be a problem with Report Builder.
It errors out with the following message.

  • Reports Builder - problem displaying Korean characters

Client-server setup (database 10G unicode AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8, client Windows XP AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1) and users have no trouble viewing characters in the application using forms.
But running the reports through Reports Builder creates inverted question marks instead of Korean characters. The reports are not displayed on the screen, but saved into *.csv file on the server.
    My question:
    1. Is Reports Builder Unicode compliant?
    2. If yes - where and how do we set up the correct NLS_LANG?
    3. If not - what is the solution?
    Thanks, Veronika

But running the reports through Reports Builder
creates inverted question marks instead of Korean
characters. The reports are not displayed on the
screen, but saved into *.csv file on the server. Is the Windows where you run Reports Builder Korean? What is the Windows Code page (ACP)?
What version of Reports Builder / Developer Suite?
You are not running the same report through a Reports server?
In a general sense, for oci apps, there's a conversion from database character set to client character set when retrieving the data (to match client environment/locale), and likewise a conversion to the database character set when storing character data.
With Korean (Hangul) characters in the db, these characters should be converted to replacement character such as inverted question mark (¿) when retrieved to a client with character set Latin-1 (iso 8859-1) - since its repertoire includes no Korean characters.
So, if the client side os is code page 949, you could try indicating a client character set of KO16MSWIN949. (You could try also by "lying" if the code page is different, but then you need to take care to set NLS_LANG as needed as it might affect other apps.)
