VersionCue.DLL

I get this error message when I try to open a file in PS.  I also get it when I try to click on a file.  The the file window closes.
"The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adpbe\Adpbe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.1\VersionCue.DLL"
I got a new computer with Windows7.  After installing and trying to run the updates, my PS and other actions have been unusable.

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall. When you do, choose to leave VC out. No VC, no trouble.

  • Module could not be found: VersionCue.dll

Currently, whenever I attempt to start Photoshop CS4 Extended, it launches fine. However, when I try to open a document (doesn't matter whether it's an old photo or a new blank one), I get an error:
The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.dll
I have tried to find a solution (particularly here), but not to much avail . I'm currently using Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit.

Your welcome. I found on the Adobe download page the 4.0.1 version cue update for windows. When you download it make sure you right click on it and run as admin.
Also if you have a download problem turn off popup blocker in Internet explorer.

Edit: Make sure nothing Adobewise is running or running in the background before install.

  • PS CS3 won't start due to VersionCue.dll missing

UGH! I am so fed up with CS3. I've been running CS3 for quite awhile now, but was recently switched to a new domain on my network. Photoshop CS3 will not open any documents now and instead gives me the error:
The application has failed to start because VersionCue.dll was not found.
VersionCue CS2 is running, which is bizzare because I've got the full CS3 suite. Does anyone have any suggestions outside of having to reinstall CS3?

Versioncue has caused me problem in the past.
I had to reinstall ( no biggie ) and from then on I disable it in PS prefs and Bridge as I never use it anyway.
    Never had a problem since.

  • Uninstalling adobe photoshop trial CS4 crashes explorer (versionCue.dll)

Running XP pro, 4gb ram, Radeon HD 4800, Intel Pentium E8400. None of that is relevant in the least but I figured someone would ask if I didn't put it up.
Anyway: I installed the photoshop CS4 30 day trial (photoshop and bridge only). Then I uninstalled it. After a restart (I believe), every time I perform certain actions (bring up context menu, cut/copy files...) in window explorer, it will crash, saying the specified module could not be found: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.dll .
Reinstalling the trial fixes the issue.
Uninstalling it again causes the issue to resurface.
I want all adobe software off my computer please! I've learned my lesson! How do I fix explorer? my "keep a crappy expired trial on perpetuity" stratagem is starting to grate.
Similar problems were elsewhere when I searched, but the solution was always "doing X and Y will put cs4 back into you context menu, don't worry." This is not adequate for me. Ideally, the solution to this problem would eliminate all instances of the word Adobe from anywhere on my computer except for my internet history of this page.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Ben

I went into the folder and discovered only the file VersionCue.dll1. As using and type of dragging and right-clicking all crash explorer, I then copied this file into VersionCue.dll using cmd.exe
    So now I
    -Lost the software (good)
    -Stabalized Explorer (good)
-Restored the drive cs4 options to explorer's context menu (bad).
I really don't want to have to reinstall windows just because I made the mistake of installing adobe software on it. Can anyone help me clean this menu up?
    Thanks,
    -Ben

  • VersionCue.dll missing in CS4

    Hello,
I'm a brand new Adobe user who just purchased CS4 Production Premium.
I wanted to batch process a bunch of jpegs using a custom action I created in Photoshop. I created an action to change the brightness/contrast to 20/100 respectively. I then used Bridge to select a series of Jpegs and then ran Tools->Photoshop->Batch and chose my custom action. I chose all defaults and hit okay and I get this dialog box:
Error: The specified module could not be found. C:\Program files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.DLL
What is this thing and where do I get it?
    Thanks for any clues
    -Julie

I am having the same problem and it has brought my Windows XP machine to its knees. No matter what I do it freezes and frustrates.
I don't know who the guy is who keeps suggesting calling Technical Support but it is a waste of time. As I write this I have been ON HOLD for three hours and 35 minutes. And this is after being online with Technical Support for an hour and twenty-four minutes (1:24:00). I followed their instructions and I am worse off now than before!
And if anyone from Adobe is reading this (HA!) my case number is #180954123. To say I am unhappy with Adobe is an understatement. The fact that they sell their products at outrageous sums of money and then cannot even provide INSTALLATION support is abominable. My particular problem was caused by their automatic updater service because I had the program installed and running fine for months and now it is half un-installed and tries to install itself during the uninstall. Yes, you heard me right. During the uninstall I was getting install errors!
Yes indeed, call Technical Support and good luck with that. I thought Microsoft was arrogant and uncaring about its customers, but Adobe is now running neck and neck with them for poor customer support. All I know is that sooner or later Adobe will reap what is sows.
And now I think I have to format my PC and spend two days trying to reconstruct all my applications. Maybe I will install and learn how to use GIMP (free!) instead of Photoshop. And oh yes, I may have to re-consider my evangelism to the world and especially to my university about using Cold Fusion on its servers.
Sign me one irate, unhappy, frustrated, and annoyed customer.

  • Versioncue.dll missing

i copy adobe installed folders frome one computer and paste to my computer, but when open photoshop cs4 there is a message showing missing versioncue.dll, can u send me that dll pls

This is likely just one of the many failures you will experience due to copying the application from one computer to another.  Are you able to remove the software from the Programs & Features control panel?  If so please remove the software and install from your installation media.  Also what version of Windows are you using?

  • Vedrsioncue.dll Module Could Not Be Found

I have been running Adobe "eLearning Suite" for over a year and have in the past week encountrered "Specified Module could not be found C:Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe cs4\Client\4.01\versioncue.dll
Running 64 bit in Windows 7 -- Error message comes up in almost all programs when I right click and on some programs when I try to run them. I am frustrated.

Sounds like you deleted, or failed to copy, many of the support files used by Adobe applications.
Reinstalling the applications is your best bet.

  • Please help with the versioncue problem.

I know this is not the right place to post this but please, I need fast help. When I open a project in Photoshop CS3 it says "Cannot find the missing module blablabla versioncue.dll". I've searched around a little and found someone who said that 2 updates would fix it. I downloaded the updates but when I started to install it said "Can't find the product to update".
For some extra info, I just reformated comp and I've considered it might be something about missing files or something and if so, can someone add [email protected] and send to me because this is important. This is also because I have a schoolproject where Photoshop will be needed.
I'm also suspicious if I actually have the documents and settings files for CS3 since I only copied the whole files from programs when I reformated it.
    Please help!

    >since I only copied the whole files from programs when I reformated it.
you need to do a full install from the original discs david. simply copying the files won't do it.

  • VersionCueUI.DLL Not Found

Every time i run CS3 and just click on anything or try to open something(In File>Open...) this exact message pops up:
"The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Client\3.1.0\VersionCueUI.DLL"
I tried downloading that file VersionCueUI.DLL from sites and pasting it in the folder where it belongs (3.1.0). I've tried reinstalling and nothing seems to help.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank You

All of a sudden when I opened a file in photoshop CS3, the infamous version cue.dll error message would appear.  When I googled this problem, I found a lot of postings; most of which indidcated this was a time consuming, and frustrating problem to correct.  They were right.
However, I was able to fix this so I thought I would share how I did it.
It occurred to me that the error message may actually be telling me something.  So I dug through all the folders in the error message until I came to the last one which is /3.1.0/versioncue.dll.  And I found the message was right.  That file was not there.  It apparently used to be there because photoshop worked fine.  Recently I installed some updates and I guess that these updates must have uninstalled or moved this file.  (Note to Adobe:  You have many, many customers with this problem.  First the updates should not break things.  Second, you should make the solution easier to find...)  So I knew I had to at least get that file in there so it could be found.  I did this by following a link in one of the postings on this thread which lead me to version cue client 3.1.0 update.  Here is the link http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3638.  The update was there along with another mandatory update for bridge.  I downloaded and installed the update and was able to open photoshop and create a new document.
    Short version
    1.  check to see if versioncue.dll file is where it is supposed to be
    2.  If not, go to update page http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3638
    3.  Download and install update (exe)
    4.  See if it works.  Hopefully it will.
Thanks to other posters that mentioned checking for the file and copying and pasting an existing version into the correct folder.  This lead me to check to see if the .dll file was there in the first place.

  • Unable to open any photos in CS4

Hi, my name is Cheryl, and I am new to the group.  I am just about ready to throw this dang computer out the window!  I am running Vista 64 bit, and have downloaded my CS4 to it.  It will not let me download any updates thru the Help section- gives me "Adobe Output module 2.1 Failed to install.  Install process has encountered a problem"  but do you think it tells me what the problem is???!!!!!  No way!  LOL  It also tells me the "Services update- Failed to install"  I have been at this for several days, and I am just about at my wits end!  And when I try to open photos in CS4 it tells me "The specified module could not be found.   C:\Program Files (x86)\CommonFiles\Adobe\AdobeVersionCueCS4\Client\4.0.1\VersionCue.DLL"  I understand the RAW files from my new camera (Canon T1I) won't open because there is no plug-in for it yet, but I can't even open RAW from my previous camera (Rebel XT), nor will it open any JPEGs.  I get the same message for any attempts.  I had no problems with the CS2 opening my older RAW files or JPEGs.  When I open CS4 I get a message about the NVIDIA upgrade, which I finally was able to get that downloaded, tho I still get the message when opening CS4.  I also am having issues now, that says the computer is giving me a "Blocked Startup Programs" message when turning on the computer.  Is this affecting the CS4 somehow??  I never had this message until the last month or so.  Have no idea why it is now blocking programs.  The Adobe CS4 Service Manager is on the list of blocked programs.  Any ideas how to go about unblocking these, and reasons why they may have been blocked in the first place?  The list is about 30 programs long!  As you can tell, my computer "knowledge" leaves much to be desired!      Any advice that anyone can give me would be most greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance.  Cheryl

OK, I uninstalled CS4, reinstalled it, rebooted the computer, tried to open jpegs- didn't work.
Tried to install updates from Help, it installed a few, but still won't install "Adobe Output module 2.1"  and "Adobe CS1 CS4 1.0.1 Adobe Drive CS4 1.0.1 Adobe CS1 CS4x64 1.0.1"
I'm really tempted to just wipe clean the computer and use my Restore disk to just start over.  I'm not sure what is causing the problems with this thing.
So now I'm headed for bed, and will start fresh in the morning and hope for the best!  I'll keep you posted.

  • Update Error on Adobe Update... CS4 no longer works

Recently I downloaded the latest adobe update... and now it seems like CS4 is falling apart, mainly photoshop...here are the current problems I am faceing
    Program |Problem
Photoshop Extended CS4| unable to open or create new files due to an error
    |that says:

Dreamwever CS4 |No problems so far...
Flash CS4 |No problems so far...
So... I'm a little bit stuck... any help would be apreciated!
    Alex

I'll assume you are on vista and refering to this:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb408524&sliceId=1
It's the top link in the creative suite forums... I know this why? because I just had the same issue and it took forever to figure out it was posted right up top. That said I did follow all the instructions and now everything is working fine. Be prepared though as the steps you need to take are basically.. change some rights in windows and then uninstall your suite and re-install it again. I can say it works though.. Good luck.

  • Loosing Right Click When Install CS4 64bit on Windows Vista 64

    Weird Photoshop CS4 installation problem:
    1) Windows Vista 64 bit new installation SP 2
    2) firewall is off
    3) I have installed & reinstalled the program several times
    4) When installed I am loosing the Windows Right Click and I get this error message:
"The specified module could not be found: c:\program files\adobe\adobe version cue\client\4.0.1\versioncue.dll
All the version cue files are installed but I still loose the right click and get that error message. I also get the same message when I click the folder options when I try and set security permissions
    Please advise

Have you used the CS4 Clean Utility before your re-install? What happens is that Adobe Drive is messing up things, so I recommend to re-install without it. This little tip may also help:
