Versioning FSDB Repository

We have activated versioning for a FSDB repository.  The root directory for versioning has been set, but versions are still being saved in a system folder inside the repository root directory.  We are running EP 7.  I understand this to be an error.  Shouldn't versions be stored in the root directory for vesioning?
Best regards,
Mark

Leandro,
We have a CM repository with the root directory for versions assigned.  We have followed the documentation that states the versioning root directory cannot be within the root of the repository for FSDB.  When we activate versioning for a repository folder, CM stores the versions withing the system folder at the root of the repository not at the root for versions.  Is this correct?
Regards,
Mark
Just determined that the versions are being stored in the root for versions.  It only appears that the versions are stored in the root of the repository when the user browses the content via the portal.  We set appropriate permissions on the system folder in the KM admin iView and solved our problem.
Thanks.

  • Version Control Repository Manager could not be reached or is invalid

    Hi All,
My Version Control Repository manager just stopped working for the reason I am not able to determinate, giving the below message: "The specified repository, %server name% , is invalid or not reachable"
There are no usefull messages in the system log, or the VCA / VCRM logs.
    Please assist.
My OS is Windows 2008 R2 x64 for both the VCAnd VCRM.
HP SIM / VCRM version is 7.2
    VCA version is also 7.2
I've tried both a domain account and the certificate.
This was working fine for 600+ servers, now it doesn't work for any of them.
Why doesn't this tool leave ANY usefull logs... ?

Tonkers just to point out VCRM stuff usally goes here
    http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ITRC-HP-Systems-Insight-Manager/bd-p/itrc-455#.VSweOMLD9aR
This can be caused by a restart of the VCRM server as it causes a reindex of the entire repositry which can take a few hours and causes clients to have the repository to appear as "down".
Can also be caused a failed login from a server with an old version of VCRA I believe this is a bug, basically the failed logon causes a manager service restart which of course causes a reindex of the system. Why it works this way I do not know nor have I logged a bug with HP. Its hard because I cannot repro it every time and it also sometimes happens randomly but its far more prevelant on boxes with old agent versions. Note here the current version of the agent that is in the HP repositry is like 7.2.2 but the current release is 7.3.X not sure why the have not allowed the new version to download.
VCRM is very finnacky they really need to nail down some addional preformance and reliability enhancements.

I am trying to install 10202 em with -noconfig option to a existing db. Then I plan on installing the 10204 patch and finish the install. My db version is 11.1.0.6 which certify says is supported with EM 10204.

To use 11G database as repository for 10204 oms,
what we need to do here ?
) Install 10.2.0.1 oms by pointing to supported
repository for 10201GC in software-only mode
    ./runInstaller -noconfig
    2) Install 10.2.0.4 patchset in software-only mode
    3) Run config assistants for base install
    4) Run config assistants for patchset
    5) stop all the opmn, ias control, agent
    6) upgrade the database to 11G
lease refer the section 'Installing Software-Only and
    Configuring Later'
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.10
2/e10953/installing_em.htm#CCHGBDCBYes I have reviewed these notes. I was trying to start out with 11G ora home. I only have a little disk as this is my test box/laptop. To do above is several hours of work.
I found bug 6115708 and it says it is fixed in M5 whatever that is.

  • Define FSDB repository in a Collaboration Room?

I have a CM Repository (pointing to fileserver, where the files are stored)
Now, I want to create a room template, with an room extension to use this repository in "documents" section.
I created the room template with room extension according this guide:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0496f69-cb70-2910-21a6-c4cf2cc66311
The "Documents" iView, create a subfolder from my CM Repository.
But I want the room can see directly this repository, is possible???
    thanks in advance,
Edited by: Leandro  Balboni on Jun 6, 2008 1:02 PM

Yes, you can certainly do this.  Typically document areas in a collaboration room are provisioned automatically, but you can include a KM Navigation IView in either the room template or the room extenstion template that points at a 'hard-coded' KM folder.
In this case, you would pre-define the properties of the KM Navigation IView after you add it to the template workset, and you would not use the Collaboration Room Template mapping function.
    Does this help at all?

  • Can a FSDB repository reside on an Unix system?

Does the Network Path have to reside on a windows file server or can it exist on a unix system?

If so, then why does it only mention Windows in that document and it specifically mentions using a driver for accessing the network patth on a windows system from a unix box but not vice versa?
    Network Path
    Yes
Specifies the path to the Windows remote server.
The path consists of the IP address of the Windows remote server, and a path specification.
    For example,
    192.168.0.1\share
Alternatively, you can enter the UNC name and path of the server, for example,
    server\share.
If it can be done what would the syntax look like for the network path on a unix system (I am a windows admin mostly)?
    Thanks

  • FSDB CM repository is not accesible from KM content in dialog instance

Hello, we have installed a dialog instance in our EP60 system.
When we connect using this dialog instance, we can not access to this KM repository content type (FSDB Km content).
Our central instance name is portalts01(you can see in Windows Landscape System ), and our dialog instance is name portalpr02
Here is the properties of one of these ("de_viaje"):
    View "de_viaje"
    Description
    Prefix (must start with /) *   /de_viaje
    Persistence Mode *             fsdb
Repository ID in Database *    de_viaje
    Root Directory                 E:\repositorios\de_viaje
    Root Directory for Versions    E:\repositorios\de_viaje_v
    Security Manager               AclSecurityManager
    ACL Manager Cache              ca_rsrc_acl
    Windows Landscape System       portalts01
    Cache                          ca_cm
Cache for small content(<32KB)   not set
Any idea to make visible in both instances ?
    Thanks in advance
    Jose Monsalve

    Hi Ray,
Deploying a repository manager means a hot KM deployment, which isn't supported at all, see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bb1f18be-0801-0010-ffa0-e3495f7401bc and SAP note 894884. After such a deployment, the KM is restarted, but you have some kind of "shadow KM" in memory, which leads for most things to an unpredictable behaviour.
In contrast to the documents reffered to above, also the standard KM delivery from SAP still behaves in an uncontrolled way for many issues.
That's why after a KM hot deployment, you should restart your server if you realize anything "unusual". A workaround is to debug your code and using the hot code replacement feature (which only works in some situations, but that's better than nothing...).
    Hope it helps

  • ~system~  version folder not clean after persistance change from dbfs -fsdb

I configure a repository manager DBFS and I create some content in it. Then I delete the content and also the repository configuration. I re-create the repository with FSDB persistance with the same name than before. But if I watch in the /fsdb/system/Versions/ folder I found many folder and documents such as 0... 1... 2... and so on. If I try to delete it the following message appear:
System error (com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IncompleteOperationException): null System error (com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IncompleteOperationException): null System error (com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IncompleteOperationException): null System error (com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IncompleteOperationException): null
I think that the information on DB is not correct and versions of documents that do not exist is diplayed. How can I clean the content of /system /Versions?
    Any idea.
    Thank in advance.

      Calpeda S.p.A.

    Hi Praveen Gudapati,
I create a new versions folder in /fsdb/Versions_rep and in the CM repository configuration I set the
    - Root Directory for Versions: /fsdb/Versions_rep  (before it was /fsdb/Versions)
    - I stopped the instance.
    - In filesystem /fsdb/Versions/versiones/* I found all the folder and object I delete them with rm command.
    - I restart the instance, but when I go to Content administration - KM Content - fsdb -  .system - versions I found o... 1... 2... ecc. again.
It seems that the filesystem and the db doesn't syncronized.
    Thanks.

    Persitence Mode: fsdb
    Repository ID in Database: ADL
    Root directory:

    Root directory for versions:

    Security Manager:AclSecurityManager
    ACL ManagerCache: ca_rsrc_acl
    Windows System Landscape: ADL_Windows_System_KM
I put the networkpath to the Windows System Landscape (
    10.3.4.33\) and it didnt work.
The folder, is in the same server of the portal.
The operating system is windows, so I  put "W2KSecurityManager" for Security Manager, and It didnt work.
    Please, help me!!!!!!!

  • Switch KM repository from FSDB to DB

I want to know if anybody has tried to switch a FSDB repository to DB.
SAP documentation says that this is not possible in "Subsequent Change to the Persistence Mode", but what I want to do is export all content of my FSDB repository, create a new one of type DB, and then import all content on it.
Has anybody been success with this before?
    Thanks in advance,
    ESteve

    Hi ESteve,
What your really describing is not changing the persistence layer of an existing repository.  You want to delete the existing repository and create a new one.  The new one would have a different persistence layer.  This should work.  You will have to restart the portal between the delete step and the create step, unless you use a different name.
    Best regards,
    Duncan

  • Versioned repository

    Hi All,
We had a non-versioned Designer9i repository with Headstart added on. We subsequently moved to a versioned Designer 9i and migrated applications in the non-versioned repository to the new versioned one.
The question is what about Headstart? What do we have to do in the versioned Designer 9i to ensure Headstart required objects are accessible and correctly configured/installed to work with our versioned world.

  • Document repository in fsdb/dbfs mode

    Hi,
Has anyone implemented the document repository in fsdb / dbfs mode? I am looking at possiility of storing documents in different server from where KM is installed. TREX needs to be able to search the documents as well.
Please advise how the configuration would differ in this scenario.
Points definitely will be awarded to answers that guide me in the right direction.
    Thanks and regards,
    Arun

    Hi Arun,
Here is the weblog we followed for implementing FSDB in our system (EP6.0 SP2):
Creating a CM Repository Manager - FSDB
We were also able to migrate existing documents from DB persistence mode to FSDB. The trick is to first download all the files via WebDAV to your storage folder, then point your FSDB repository to this folder. This way your existing properties won't get deleted during the transition. I still advise to do a full KM backup before this operation, unless you're starting from scratch.
    Hope this helps,
    Olivier

  • OMS can not start - OMS not compatible with repository version.

    Hello,
I have Enterprise Manager 11g installed on a Unix environment. The OEM was running successfully at beginning. But after the database was restarted, I got the below error when I tried to start OMS.
    -bash-3.00$ /OMS_HOME/bin/emctl start oms

    Starting Oracle Management Server...
Oracle Management Server is not functioning because of the following reason:
Oracle Management Server version is not compatible with repository version. Repository needs to be Upgraded.
I run ./emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate, but the problem is still there.
    My database is 11.2.0.1.0
    Grid control is 11.1.0.1
    Weblogic is 10.3.2
I can open Weblogic Server 11g Administration Console but not /em.
    -bash-3.00$ ./emctl start oms

    Please help,
    Thanks,
    George J

See note "Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Certification Checker \[ ID 412431.1 \]". There is a nice application which shows all the compatible combinations. Only 10.2.0.4 is supported with 10GR4 OMS (10.2.x repository version).

  • Missing version files

    Hello,
we have problem on our test Enterprise Portal. I don´t know, how it happened,
but many directories and files in filesystem of EP in the path
    system/versions/ are missing.
In Content Administration --> KM Content are these elements visible, but if I
click on file or directory, Portal says, that the item is not accessible.
Depending on this problem, don´t works local editing, becouse versions of files
    are missing.
    1. How could I get it in consistent state?
    2. Is there possibility to copy all KM documents with their versions from another
    system (product EP system)?
    Thanks for help.

    Hello Jaromir,
If you're using an fsdb repository then it's possible that your metadata was lost due to synchronisation issues, see notes 737877 and 900571 which provide more information on this issue.
If this is the case then the only way to get the content back to a consistent state is to restore it from a backup. Alternatively you could copy the content from another system if possible using ICE or KM transport.
