Versioning of business objects

When using the Action Box from the CRM Customer Interaction Center to execute transactions in R3 we have found ourselves in a risky situation. When modifications are made to the business objects to for data transfer between systems via transaction SWO1, there is no apparent version management. This poses two questions:
1. Is there some form of version management for these business objects somewhere in the sysem?
2. If no versioning exists for the business objects, is the another method of communication data between the systems via CIC action box calls that leverages version management.

1. Click on Download.
2. Click on BusinessObjects Downloads.
3. Click on Installation and Upgrades.(Click on simpley click here link)
4. Click on SBOP ENTERPRISE
5. Click on BOBJ ENTERPRISE XI R2
6. Click on Installation
You will see the various platform installables. This is the enterprise application.
No Business Objects X1-R2 and Crystal Reports X1-R2 are not Same. Crystal reports is a reporting tool and could be installed on your destop. However Business Objects X1-R2 is a server application and has some specifications to be installed.
Do you have any specific reason for trying out XIr2

Firstly am moving Business Objects Versions 5.x and 6.x to XI R3 enviroment,secondaly i have done all the things as per the points that you have mentioned in the forum but the deal is i just wanna know about what all crdentials will be asked for during the migartion process and also want to about the BO MAIN KEY as it is also asked for to access the respective BUSINESS OBJECTS version repository.
And i have some reports which are scheduled so when i migrate is there any option to keep the schedule instances as it is or I will have to reschedule all the reports again after the migration.
Is there any option to migrate the inbox..?

Please let me know the latest version(N) of Business Objects Dataservices.
Also,let me know the version(N-1) which was prior to the latest version.

The latest release for Data Services is XI 3.2 SP2, and XI 3.2 SP1 was prior to that release.

Old Version of Business Object & work flow templates

I deleted few methods and commented some code in an existing business object for some issue.Now I want to call back the older version. How can I do this?
Similarly I did some changes to an workflow template and now want to re-call the older version .

First retrive the corresponding request of those objects from SE03 or SE09 transactions
and reimport them from your PRD or QAS system.

Where get the Version trials Business Object with all your components?

How get the version trial the Business Object Enterprise XI 3.1 or the ultimate version, I need with all components for example: Business View manage, Desinger, Central cofiguration manager, Desktop Web Intelligence, Universe Builder, etc.

You need to login to SAP Service Market Place (SMP) and visit the download section i.e https://service.sap.com/swdc
Once there you need to navigate to Installations and Upgrades > SAP BusinessObjects portfolio > SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform (SBOP Enterprise) > BOBJ ENTERPRISE XI 3.1 > Installation > Choose OS platform > SBOP ENTER SERVER XI 3.1 SP3 WINDOWS > Download all three parts.
Similarly, you can obtain temp license key from https://service.sap.com/licensekey

Desktop Intelligence support in Business Object Enterprise XI 3.1 version

Hi,
We are using Business Object Enterprise XI 3.1 software in our product. But I heard from SAP sales person that this version of Businesss Objects doesn't Desktop Intelligence. But this version of Business Object is installing Desktop Intelligence version 12.1.0.882 and I'm able to access all the features of Desktop Intelligence.
So please any one confirm me whether the version of Business Object Enterprise XI 3.1 software support Desktop Intelligence or not ?

Bex to Business Objects - Currency Conversion error in Webi

Hello,
I am attempting to transfer a Bex 7 key figure currency conversion to a Business Objects filter in a Universe for display in a Webi report. The version of Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2. The Bex Conversion Type is based off Calendar Month, and the Target Currency variable is a selection prompt. The filter is passed to the universe and prompts when the report is ran in Webi, but an error occurs if the currency is populated. For instance, if I populate the filter in Webi with 'USD', the following error occurs: The MDS query SELECT "....." failed to execute with the error Value 'USD' FOR variable "Currency" is invalid (WIS 10901).
I'm not sure if the currency conversion information is being properly transferred and translated to Business Objects. Does anyone have any insight on this issue?

I was able to modify the dimension for the filter to retrieve the correct object (Ex. USD), but there are multiple incorrect selections for USD and other currency types. For instance, when I type in USD i get 5 different options, and the one with the description 'American Dollar' is the correct one. Why is Webi displaying all these different options? When I display the options for currency in Bex only one 'USD' is shown in the list. Here is my filter condition for currency type in the Universe:

We are considering using a data source that is Oracle 10 , does anyone know if our version of business objects is compatible with Oracle 10 , or would our problems only lie in the middleware and drivers that may need updating ? Jokes aside, Theres a few documents on how Oracle partner with Business Objects but there is no "Oracle Business Objects" BI product, at least up until end of last year before I left Oracle Consulting BI practice.
Yes SAP Business Objects connects and supports Oracle 10G database functionality, but that would be Oracle DB, not Oracle BI EE.
I seriously doubt they would launch ANOTHER BI tool with the same application name as a competitor?

Business Objects Management Console - Shedule Jobs Problem

Is anyone aware of Business Objects working with any archiving vendor on the database side, i.e. IBM, HDS, EMC.

Hi Dell and Barry,
Since Dell tested our archiving solution in 2006 we have added many features to the product. You can now also backup instances and documents. Documents can be backed up with multiple versions and you can pick which version to restore. You can do a partial restore of instances or documents if you lost anything instead of doing a full restore of the system.
Our interface provides the ability to restore archived instances to where they came from or to a different location in case you have an audit and you want to prepare a special folder for the auditors to work in.
We also let you export the report while archiving so you can keep a PDF or Excel version of the report in addition to the original and you can restore either. To save room on your disk you can have the files zipped while archiving.
We also have an interesting housekeeping feature that will let you keep instances that were run by specific users or users from specific user groups while deleting the rest of the instances. This will let you keep your statements for example while deleting all other ad-hoc instances run by other users.
If you use our KPI product as well you get a table with meta data about your instances which you can search. You can use the search results to find either online instances or archived instances. We have other tools which will let you enhance your instance handling with regards to scheduling, instance monitoring, instance searches, and other administration tasks.
You can use the rich feature set in our tools as it is or we can customize tools to your needs if you have a more special set of requirements. Using our tools as the starting point for customization will save you a lot of time verses starting from scratch and we usually include any customization as part of the product itself which means it will automatically be upgraded for you when you upgrade to the next version of Business Objects as long as you are on maintenance. The latest version of Business Objects Enterprise is XI Release 3.1 Service Pack 2. There have been several fixpacks delivered on top of this as well.
Crystal Reports and XCelsius are tools to build Reports and Dashboards respectively. While XCelsius is suited for creating sleek dashboards with very aggregated data - usually less than 2000 rows per report, Crystal Reports can be used for reporting off data warehouses requiring reporting off large data sets.
Informatica Powercenter is a tool proivded by an independant vendor and is not a Business Objects Product. Business Objects Provides Data Integrator, which is pretty much as rugged as Informatica and provides all the functionalities of ETL(Extraction Transformation and Loading).
