Versioning on external Repositories

Hi,
Can some one tell me if there is a way to provide versioning on external repository, which is on Windows 2003 running IIS... ?
Regards,
Nrisimhanadh Yandamuri

Hi,
You can use CM repository Manager instead of File Repository Manager.
See this thread, Explain you.

  • Document versions in external repositories

If I’m using an external document repository liked with the portal (DMS, File System, etc), can I still use document versioning control? Where are the versions stored (in KM or in the external system)?

    Hi Guest,
I am quite sure that if you use an external document repository you can only use the features provided by the external repository. If the external repository provides document versioning and the repository manager used to integrate the repository in the KM repository framework does implement the functionality then you may be able to use document versioning.Otherwise, not.
    Hope I could help!

  • Document Search - External Repositories

    Hi Folks,
Has anyone of you worked on integrating the content of external repositories in Document Search within CIC ? Would really appreciate if you could share your experience doing the same.
Here are the details of what I am trying to achieve:
    Background:
We are on CRM 2007 and Implementing Customer Interaction Center (CIC).
ECC 6.0, Enterprise Portal (EP)  7.0.
TREX 7.0. We use a single TREX System for both CRM and Enterprise Portal (EP).
We do not have SAP Content Server, Enterprise Search and not in scope for the CIC Project.
As part of CIC, One of the Key Tools we are trying to implement is the Document Search.  We have repositories on the CRM System and External to CRM.
For the Document Stored on CRM we will be using KPro (Tcode SKPR07) and Indexing on TREX to be searched through CIC Document Search.  This is available Standard, out of the Box.
For  External Repositories ( i.e. Portal KM Documents  , Documents on Intranet Windows System )  we donu2019t have a Standard  design in CRM  to Integrate them into the CIC Document Search  using TREX.
Any insight for implement Integration of External Repositories into CIC Document Search would be really helpful.

  • KM external repositories

    Hi All,
We are using the existing CM repositories to store the documents. Persistence mode is DB.
we have a new use case for which we need to create a cRoom.
the users expected to upload and maintain Tera Bytes of documents.
    My questions are
1.From performance  & scalability point, does using the same DB mode is good? or we need to change the persistence mode?
and secondly, please give some suggestions for using external repositories inside KM. I saw some alterntatives to be Lotus notes, WedDAV & File system in this order.
      2.  what are the advantages & disadvantages in using these external respostiories?
      3. Can i stll use the same KM interface (standard & custom) to upload & retrieve the documents from these external repositories?
       4. Is there any comparison avialable between these repositories?
Please let me know your comments and share your experties. this would be really helpful in deciding.
    thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Senthil

    Hi,
DB :  This mode is useful when there will be large number of request to upload data in KM. The data here means files, folders and their related properties(meta-data).
DBFS : This mode is useful if your upload file size would be high. In these mode file will be stored on file system, its related properties and folder will be stored in database.
FSDB : In this mode File system is given more importance, since folders and files are stored in file system while properties are stored in database, due to which performance is affected.
SAP recommends DBFS mode for managing large amount of data and using FSDB mode if there will be more read request.
You can find more details on this from below link :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/62/468698a8e611d5993600508b6b8b11/frameset.htm
Using external repository depends on your organization how they would be using KM. There was requirement to integrate Sharepoint to some repository and that same should be used by SAP portal and also various user required direct access to server where they can quickly mass upload, easily create folders. Thus we integrated Windows file system with both portal.
Thus it would depend on organization. You can even integrate SAP DMS if required. The UI will be same for all operation.
You can integrate various external repository as explained in below link :

Do i need to update other .sar files from sapnet ?
Did somebody have the same error ?
    Thanks in advance .
    Best Regards.

We had this same issue today and folks that are not familiar with sapcpe can really be at a loss on this error, so I'm updating some of these older threads for clarification.
When sapcpe is active, you actually have two copies of the SAP kernel on your Unix file system:
/sapmnt/SID/exe - Which is probably where you update your kernel (this version was at 201)
      (aka:  /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run)
/usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS##/exe - A location many don't know about  (this version was at 133)
Typically, sapcpe keeps these two locations identical and there are no mismatch errors but if anything happens to your configuration, the next time you update your kernel in /sapmnt/SID/exe, the replication does not occur and the mismatch happens as seen in (dev_disp or dev_disp.new):
    ***LOG Q00=> DpSapEnvInit, DPStart (18 22336) [dpxxdisp.c   1283]
    DwSLCheckVersion: shared library version mismatch:
            shared lib "dw_xml.sl" version 133 <-> kernel version 201
            shared lib "dw_xtc.sl" version 133 <-> kernel version 201
            shared lib "dw_stl.sl" version 133 <-> kernel version 201
            shared lib "dw_gui.sl" version 133 <-> kernel version 201
            shared lib "dw_mdm.sl" version 133 <-> kernel version 201
This is made even more confusing because if you do an "ldd /sapmnt/SID/exe/disp+work" the results will tell you that it's reading those files from where you just patched your kernel.  That ldd is incorrect, however.  If the two copies of the kernel are not in sync, some files will indeed be loaded from /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS##/exe which will not match the other files that are loading from /sapmnt/SID/exe and you'll have the mismatch error.
Short Term:  You can delete the contents in /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS##/exe and then everything is loaded from /sapmnt/SID/exe.
Long Term:  Correct the configuration of sapcpe so that it keeps everything in sync and you don't have dualing kernels.  (See note 1104735)

  • Deleting versions from external editor

I am sure this question has come up before, but I cannot seem to find it in a forum search.
I have my original RAW in Aperture. I use the "Open with external editor" command, make changes in PhotoShop and save. Aperture now has the "original" RAW and the "altered" PS file.
However, now I decide that I don't like the PS edits and want to delete that file. When I select is and choose "delete version" I get a dialog stating that a master will be deleted and there is no undo. If I allow the delete, the PS version and the original RAW are both trashed. I want to keep the RAW and delete the "altered" PS version.
What am I doing wrong and is there any way around this?

Yes, it should only delete the edited version if you have the edited version and only the edited version selected and not as just the main selection with the others in the stack selected. It should also delete any versions made from the edited master, but should leave the original master and it's versions intact.
I just tested this on my system and it did as expected.
Just take a sample image and import it with the sole intention of opening with the external editor and then selecting just the externally edited and deleting it. I know you're sure you had just the edited master selected, but are you sure sure?

  • Moving all Aperture masters/ versions to external hard drive.

Instead of having any / all photos located on my internal hard drive, I would prefer to have that information stored on an external hard drive. Does the "relocate masters" process complete this task? When I import new photos into Aperture 3 will that information automatically move onto the external hard drive?
    thanks in advance

    There are two considerations here:
-- Where you place your master images, and,
-- Where you place your versions/previews/thumbs.
Masters are write one/read many, so they can be anywhere you want and disk speed is not much of an issue. Your versions, on the other hand, store your edits and get read and rewritten frequently. You want them on your fastest drive, which is usually your internal drive.
Thus if you are running out of space on your internal drive, you are generally better off going to a "referenced" master library, with the masters on an external drive while leaving the Aperture Library proper on your internal drive.
As a rule of thumb, the masters make up about 75+% of your total Aperture library. Thus relocating the masters out of the Library should leave your with a Library that is only about 25% the original size. (Depends on size of previews, number of versions per master, size of master, etc.)
You can specify where to put your master during each import session and you can mix and match to your heart's content.

  • Install second version on external drive

UPDATE: Found a download for portable 9.0, and installed it with Portable Apps. Working great, and I'm sure they'll be compatible with 10 soon, and I can upgrade. Leaving this here in case anyone else needs it.
I am working for an online company that requires FF 6, 7, 8 or 9. It doesn't accept 10 right now, so I can't use portable apps, as it wil only install 10. I have 3.6, and don't want to lose it, as it is set up the exact way I want it and is very stable. I'm trying to install V. 9 on my external drive, but it won't let me, says I don't have the proper permissions.
I'm not very geeky, so the instructions for setting up a second profile are sort of over my head. Can anyone give me some simple instructions for installing 9 on my external drive, or on a virtual drive, so I can use both? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • ABSChecker:Check if ABS has newer version available than repositories

Because I have plenty of time to possibly reinvent things I have created a little piece of python script that compares packages in current pacman repositories against PKGBUILDs in local ABS database and reports (in theory) all out-of-date packages / packages with lesser version number than their ABS PKGBUILDs.
It was greated for PlugBox project (Arch Linux for plug computers) and I though I could share it with you all and change knowledge! I was about to jump of a roof when I noticed that some PKGBUILDs are used to create several packages at once. Oh the horror. In those cases the script dies horribly... in possible functionality.

  • Modified versions from external editor are not shown in browser, why?

After I modify an image in Silver Efex and save it , the image is not shown in it's modified form in the browser. When I open the image it shows as modified.

Remember when you return an image from an external editor/plugin the returned image is made into a new master. Are you sure you're looking at the correct image in Aperture?
If that's not it post back describing the exact steps you are taking from sending the image to the plugin until you're back in Aperture.

  • Subscription for external repositories

    Hi Experts,
    System in use - EP 2004s .
Question - Is there any external repository manager which will give the subscription email notification when I modify the documents on the extenal server . (Not through portal) .
I know WebDav will give subscription notification email if we moify the documents using portal.
    Points are assured.
Kindly help as its urgent !
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit Kade

    Hi Praveen ,
Thanks a lot for the quick reply , but actually it is possible .
Initially my understanding was also same as yours but then I came to know that if we configure the subscription with frequency as 'daily' or 'monthly'  we can get the subscription notification emails.
In this case KM gets notified of the changes by the crawler which subscription service starts. But ofcourse if you configure the subscription with frequency 'on every event' ,  in this case subscription service depends on the KM events and not the crawler.
I have configured a WebDav repository using Windows IIS and activated the subscription on that , I am getting the notification emails but now I have one more question .
Q - As I have activated the subscription service while creating WebDav repository manager , every user can subscribe to this repository . How can we set subscription service permissions to users as I don't want every user to have full access for subscription .
    Thanks in advance !

  • Use of KM to connect to External Document Repositories !!

    Dear All,
I am evaluating the capability of KM as an integration layer to connect to various External Repositories (Lotus notes, File System, DB, DMS, Sharepoint repositories etc). I know there are various KM Repository Managers available which can help in connecting to other document systems, but am not sure how effective it is. What could be the potential issues?
Are there any major limitations with using KM as integration layer?

    Hi
I have Photoshop CC 32bit and Photoshop CC 64 bit installed on my Windows 7 PC. I want to use the 64 bit version for esternal editing, but my photos from Lightroom 5.3 go to the Photoshop CC 32bit version for external editing. I cannot find a way to change this preference.
Can anyone please suggest a solution other than uninstalling the Photoshop CC 32 bit version which does not appear to be an option?

First option is to open PS in 64 bit then start up Lightroom it will send the images to the open version of Photoshop
Second Option : Add Photoshop 64 bit as your 2nd external editor
