Versions in Garageband

Does anybody knows if and when an update for Garageband with versions will be released?
Or is it possible to add versions to Garageband?
Sometimes I really need it.

here have been no announcements yet, and i'm afraid speculation is against the ToS here.

  • Get an older version of GarageBand iOS?

How do I get an older version of GarageBand for iOS (pre 2.0.1)? Other than this method :
    https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/support/advice-and-articles/app-store -downloading-older-versions-of-apps-ios
I have been all over that article trying to figure this issue out. The problem for me is, my app store, my wife's app store, my friend's app stores, etc. all have updated versions of GarageBand iOS and we have updated iOS to 7. I can't downgrade to iOS 6 any longer. I've asked a friend to trade me his old iPad for my newer one! And on and on to no avail.
Is there a way I can download a pre - 2.0.1 version of GarageBand iOS from a 3rd party? Can the file be placed somewhere and then onto my Mac via iTunes? I have contacted app store support about this. They offered to refund my $4.99, but cannot give me my also purchased (on a different account and updated there as well) old version of GB iOS.
I have a compatibility issue between the latest GB for iOS and Logic Pro 9 on the Mac. LP 9 will not open the latest version of GB iOS. I cannot download LP 10 bc my 2007 MP is 32-bit EFI. I'm not comfortable w/ the hacks for getting Mavericks, etc. as I'm not computer savvy. I'm a songwriter who wants to write and record as simply as possible. My current set-up runs like a tank. GB iOS is great for getting ideas down when on the road. Then I flesh things out on the Mac in LP and add the audio tracks there as well.
Anyone know a workaround for opening GB iOS in LP9? I don't want the audio BTW, just the MIDI. I can find the audio by show package contents, etc. but I can't see the MIDI info in the folder. Maybe my OSX won't recognize as I could possibly do this manually? When I unpack a pre-2.0.1 GB file on the Mac, I can see both the audio and the MIDI, but not on the new GB ".band" file. Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed. Thank you!

Thank you! Can you please explain? Can I still record in GB iOS and then use the MIDI synth app? Where is the MIDI synth app - on the iPad or Mac?  How do I get the MIDI info to the Mac - by iRig MIDI or USB? Please break down the process if you can and I will try it. Looks like great idea, I just need a little more info. Thanks!

The new version of GarageBand is only compatible with 10.9 and above.
If your Mac can run MacOS X 10.6.8, it probably can be upgraded to Yosemite, if you don't have to stick to Snowleopard for other reasons.
Is it possible to still get the older version?
Amazon or eBay are still selling iLife '11 installer disks, and you could reinstall GarageBand from these DVDs. But it will be expensive.
Have you checked your backups, if you can restore GarageBand from a backup?
OR, can I get another copy of the startup CD that came with my computer so that I can reinstall GarageBand?
Sometimes the AppleStore Support will replace missing installer CDs for a fee.

  • How do I restore the IOS 6 version of GarageBand on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen?

Does anyone else have this problem?
I was trying to clear some memory space on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen 8GB.  I uninstalled GarageBand to get rid of the pesky Document & Data files.  Then I was going to reinstall it.  But when I did, the Itunes App Store downloaded the current IOS7 version.  My device was not updated to IOS7, and the lastest app will not install on it.
Is there a way to get the IOS6 version of GarageBand to upload to my Ipod Touch 4th Gen at this point?  I feel kind of robbed.  I bought the app with the view that it would be good for the life of the device, not be invalidated when the next big IOS upgrade came around.  I have had this problem with a few other apps, but this app I use a lot.
    Thanks for any help.

no I don't because my computer has been reinstalled fully since any of the old backups were done and even so, apps are stored in the itunes folders and not the backup files of the device. I have tried to contact apple/itunes and they don't want to know because I won't upgrade to a newer ipod touch that supports ios 7. I like my ipod touch 4th gen even though the wifi is damaged beyond repair. This is the way things are and big companies like apple expect people to upgrade to keep up with the latest version but the reality is that people don't because of the cost of the new devices.
I'll just have to deal with the fact that I cannot use it to read while on the bus/train any more. Ipod touch 4g is now just a music player/basic camera.

  • Can I get an older version of GarageBand for an iPhone 3GS?

I would like GarageBand on my phone, but the 3GS does not take iOS7, and the only version of GarageBand I can find is the latest, which requires iOS7.  Is there someplace to find older versions?
    Thanks,
    Steve
Perfectly happy with my iPhone 3GS

I don't think it can be done. I had Garageband on my iphone3 (ios6), which I backed up. I then got an iphone4 (ios7) and updated to the latest version of Garageband. Since then, I restored factory settings on the old iphone3, and then changed my mind (because I wanted Garageband back on that phone too) but when I restored my backup, I found that the backup doesn't store the actual Apps - only the settings. I could restore only the apps whose latest versions were still compatible with ios6 (ie not Garageband). I think some apps have an option to download older versions, but not Garageband. Very annoying!

  • Please Help - Cannot install both versions of Garageband

I am operating on Yosemite and have Garageband 10, but I need to download and install 5.1 (Garageband '09) in order to retrieve certain loops that came with that version that are important to me for certain tracks that I have been working on.
After downloading the '09 version from Apple for free I ran into an error when attempting to install it on my computer. It says "This update does not need to be installed. A newer version of Garageband is already installed."
So that's it. I can't figure out how get around this error.
Also, I am assuming that by reinstalling '09 I will be able to retrieve the old loops that I need, unless someone else knows where/how to get these. They were part of the original set that came with the program.
Of course I could just delete the newer version, but I would rather not if I can help it, you know?
    Anyway, thank you!

the problem is that you didn't D/L GBv5 ('09), you D/Led the update for version 5 to v5.1, not the entire v5 installation.
you'd need to either restore GBv5 from a backup, or buy a copy of GBv5 (or v6) from someplace like eBay or Amazon (it's not available for free from Apple)

  • What version of Garageband is on my install disc?

I was recently given a Powerbook PowerPC G4 with OS X Tiger 10.4.11. I have the original install discs and I want to re-load OS X and all the applications. Does anyone know what version of Garageband comes as a part of iLife on the install disc? I currently have Garageband '08 version 4.1.2 but don't want an older version. If it re-loads an older version, can I upgrade to Garageband '08? Or, is it possible to save Garageband '08 and still wipe the hard drive?

Hi Paul, the safest best way before you upgrade.reinstall. or whatever is to have a bootable clone on a Firewire drive.

  • How to use track effects with new version of GarageBand

In the version of GarageBand before this one, you could access different effects that you could manage and apply to the different tracks.  Each track had an area containing its set of effects that were either activated or deactivated.  With this removed, i am not sure how to add those same kind of effects.  I am aware of the new nobs that are provided in order to mix and edit trebles, bass, mid, etc., but i want to be able to add different effects such as voice transformer, flanger, chorus, speech enhancer, bit crusher, bass amp, track echo, track reverb, amplifier, etc.  I desperately need help finding out how to do this, as this was a major part of my mixing and producing with GarageBand, and without these given effects, i do not feel as comfortable using GarageBand.

  • How do I get new content without paying - I paid for previous version of GarageBand

I paid for the previous versions of GarageBand and i am wondering if i have to paid for the additional content. When I try to restore purchases it states I have now and if I go to download the new drummers it wants me to pay.
Do I get this content for free as I already paid for GarageBand in the past or do i have to pay again?
    Thanks
    Craig

The Apple Support document is not very clear on this, see:
Expanding GarageBand for Mac (v10.0) content with an in-app purchase http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6031
You can find this option by choosing Download More Sounds from the GarageBand menu. If you previously purchased this content, select Restore Purchase to install the content.
Have you tried "Software Update" after restoring the purchases? For me the new drummers were then added for free.  But I had previously MainStage 2 and Logc X 10 installed, with all Jam Packs and plenty of drummers. Maybe, "Restore Purchase" will be different, if you did not have these additional software installed.

  • "This song requires a newer version of GarageBand"

I recently created a song on my ipad2 - but when I try to import it onto my mac (OS X 10.5.8) - it says "This song requires a newer version of GarageBand. Please update to the latest version of GarageBand before opening this song."
What is the version of Garage band will I need to open this file?
Will Garage band '11 run on the 10.5.8 operating system?
    Thanks

  • TS5249 Problems with the Korg Legacy Collection in the new version of Garageband in Mavericks.

    Hello!
I'm having problems with the Korg Legacy Collection in the new version of Garageband in Mavericks. When I try to load the AU, I get this error message:
"Failed to load Audio Unit, please contact the manufacturer for an updated version or further assistance. (-10110)"
They seem to work fine in Ableton Live 8 Lite, also running in Mavericks. So, I think it is something with Garageband. In addition, Korg updated to 64bit early last year.
Anyone know how to fix the problem? Or is Korg or Apple's problem?
    Thanks.

Have you checked, if you have the newest 64-bit version installed? There may still be an older version sitting around - check both plug-in folders, the one in your Home folder and the one in the system library:
    ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
    /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
Some programs may still be able to use 64-bit plug-ins, but GarageBand will not use them:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5249

  • Is there a fade-out option in the new version of garageband? if so then how do you use it?

is there a fade-out option in the newest version of garageband? if so then how do you use it?

You are correct, although I didn't realize it was an add-on since it came in the standard download. Either way, the status shows "SmartPrintButton 1.0 (disabled)" with a warning sign that says "SmartPrintButton is incompatible with Firefox 28.0"
Is this a recommended replacement for this Add-on? Or is the easiest fix for this issue to go back to an older version of Firefox?

  • The lock track button is won't turn off on two tracks? Any suggestions using the latest version of Garageband

I was having trouble with playback, so I locked a few tracks in the latest version of garageband.  Now the Smart Drummer track and a guitar track won't unlock?  All other tracks will?  Any thoughts?

I figured it out.  I double clicked the track and it asked if I wanted to unlock it!

    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
