Versions in Pages with iCloud sync

Hello
I love the versions feature supported by the iWork apps that was introduced back with Mac OS 10.7. Right now I am working on a number of Pages documents intermittently on my Macbook Pro as well as my iMac and I use iCloud to always have them ready to type away on what ever device I happen to be in front of.
However, I have noticed that iCloud does not seem to support the versions feature. When I open one of the documents stored in iCloud, hold the pointer to the right of the document title, click the arrow, and then choose "Browse All Versions" the older versions do not show up.
Am I doing anything wrong or does iCloud simply not sync the older versions?
Stephan

Hi PastFuture,
iCloud only saves the current version.
For example, I always save the document as a new one when I want to save the current version - so i have files like Project1.1, Project1,2, Project1.3, etc..

  • Older version of pages with iCloud/Mountain Lion

Im running pages 4.1. I bought the iWork suite when it was sold on discs. Can I still update to the latest iWork that integrates automatically with iCloud using Mountain Lion? If so how? I just purchased Mountain Lion so I could use this new feature.

Yes, you can update to iWork 9.2 to take advantage of Mountain Lion features. iWork '09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated through Software Update. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have that needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
You can also download the standalone updater from this page.

  • Is there an issue with iCloud syncing on iWork apps?

I thought everything was ok with iCloud syncing but I seem to now have issues.
I created a spreadsheet under Pages on my iPad (3rd Gen) and, after pressing the 'spreadsheet' button to show thumbnails of all docs being worked on, I'm seeing a small arrow pointing upwards on the thumbnail.  Before, I used to see a progress bar updating in the thumbnail (which I presume is updating to iCloud).
Now? Nothing.  The arrow stays and nothing is updated on my iPhone 4.   In fact, a previous version of my spreadsheet is shown on my iPhone with the same upwards pointing arrow but with the whole thumbnail 'greyed out'.  I can't even open it on the iPhone to delete it!
Is this a know issue and are there any fixes?  I've tried the usual turning iCloud off and on for both devices but this has not had any effect.

    This is ridiculous!
I have now established that there are issues with Pages, Numbers and Keynote documents!!!  They surely cannot all be corrupted?
I have managed to salvage an important Numbers Document which I have copied in to iTunes (and subsequently on to my external HD).
To try and rectify the situation I have then turned off iCloud on all 3 apps on both my iPhone 4 and iPad and deleted all documents under each app.  I have then gone on to iWork under iCloud and deleted all documents off there (some of which I noted were not the up-to-date documents I had been working on in iOS).  I had to turn off iCloud regardless to delete a couple of the documents on my iPhone (under all 3 apps) as some documents were greyed out (see original post) and could not be deleted.  As soon as iCloud was disabled it enabled me to remove off the local device.
Having switched iCloud back on to my iPhone and iPad (and bearing in mind I had deleted all documents off both iOS devices and in iCloud) the greyed out thumbnails re-appear (and cannot be deleted or altered!!!!)
    Anybody? Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!

  • Ical bug: updates to outlook events with iCloud sync do not work

I have a bug that needs to be submitted to Apple Developers. I am not sure that this is the correct forum, but here goes.
I have a calendar that syncs from my Mac to iCloud. If I get a calendar invite from someone using outlook, everything works fine. I accept the invite and it is added to ical (6) and syncs with the iCloud calendar.
Now if I get an update to the invite - especially a change of time, the local version on my mac updates to the changed event. Up to now everything is fine, but as soon as iCal syncs with iCloud, the iCloud server thinks that I am trying to change an event that someone else is the organiser of. It then disallows the update. This in turn pops an error up on my mac - 'The server responded: “403” to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation'.
I have looked for workarounds/fixes but believe that none exist and that this is a core bug with iCal/iCloud sync and the way it tries to prevent updates to meetings organised by another party.

    Hello vmepani
maybe I can suggest to you a way to circumvent the problem.
Why are you keeping a local Calendar copy under "my Mac"?
I do have my calendar shared through iCloud between my Mac Mountain Lion, the iPhone and the iPad (both alread IOS7) but don't need to keep any local copy of it in neither device. Anyway I'm able to see the calendar on each device even if I'm offline.
That's way I never had the problem you mentioned.
Not sure if this would work for you as well.
    cheers
    gg

  • I cannot find the Firefox Start page with the Sync Set Up Link

I'm trying to get the Sync code on my android device in order to retrieve all my bookmarks from my main computer to the tablet pc. The directions on the Mozilla support site say to "Tap the Set up Firefox Sync button on the Firefox Start page." Well I cannot for the life of me find this button or the Firefox start page. Where could it possibly be? My tablet pc, when operating Firefox, does not bring up any such page with said button.

There is an option to "Send Link..." in the File menu. Firefox does not have a built-in send page by email option.

  • Numbers wont work After update on ipad 2 and iphone 5s with iCloud sync activated!

Am i the only one expiriencing that Problem ??????? ...

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        1.    Open Numbers on your computer and move any documents in iCloud to your desktop for safe keeping.
        2.    Navigate to system preferences > iCloud > Manage and check that Numbers documents are not taking any space in the cloud, delete them if they are.
        3.    Enable iCloud syncing for Numbers on your mobile device and launch the App.
        4.    If Numbers now opens properly, start to add back documents from your desktop one at a time (or in small groups if you have many).

  • Sync pages with icloud

I have been using Mac's for 12 years and love them and even liked mobile me. So with the arrival of iCloud I thought that I could create a pages or numbers document save to icloud and then use on either my iPad, iPhone or even my mac in an other country this seems to be not so.
When i save a document on my iPad there is the ability to copy to idisk but even this does not work.
    Advice please.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can upload pages documents to iCloud and share them with your iOS devices at iCloud.com, however this is a strategy for sharing documents in use not for backing them up.
Can I suggest you get yourself an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or another back up utility. Data loss is often sudden and unexpected and far too late to do anything about in many cases.

  • Problems with icloud syncing contacts on 2 iphones

I have 2 iphone4's (ios 5.0.1) registered to the same Apple ID email account, both obviously with different contacts lists. As I understand it, the only way to add new contacts to your list now is to turn on icloud for contacts but when the iphones sync they share each others contacts making a horrible duplicated messy and unwanted 'shared' contacts (I am very  tidy how I organise my contacts but my wife enters her contacts in a much more care free manner!!!) Ideally I only want my contacts on my phone and my wifes contacts on hers! Am I missing something?  Thanks

You set up the same iCloud account on both phones and turn on Contact Sync...
Maybe you'd like to explain what the problem is.

  • HT4759 iphone version 6 problem with icloud

since downloading version 6 to my iphone 3GS my music library will not sync from icloud. Help please

    Hallo Shadowrap411,

  • Help with iCloud/syncing emails

    Hi
I may be missing something really obvious here as I like to think I'm pretty good with technology and have been Mac based for the last 8 odd years so I'm used to the Apple setup etc. However, I'm having some difficulties getting things syncing across devices and wondered if anyone knew how to resolve this.
I have several different email addresses I use, my personal one and my work one, plus the standard icloud one you get when you create an icloud account. My personal email address is from my own domain name so is set up as an 'other' type of email account, my work email is Exchange Server type.
Across my iPhone, iPad, Mac and iCloud on the web the Exchange email address syncs perfectly. I can send/receive email from this account and if I delete a message/read a message/move a message to another folder etc it syncs automatically across all devices. With my own personal email, although I can read/delete/send emails from any device, they don't sync, in that I may read all my emails on my iPhone and then have to go through them again on my Mac and my iPad separately.
Also, when I log into iCloud on the web, the only emails visable are from my iCloud email address and this is all I can send emails from as well.
My personal email address is the one my Apple ID is set with.
Is anyone able to shed any light on this for me please as its extremely frustrating to have to keep going through my emails 3 times each day, and even more frustrating that my work email which is Microsoft based works better than my Apple Mail account!!
    Many thanks
    Jo

Thanks for that nunomonterio, I shall get this set up now to try it out.
In the meantime though can I just check a couple of things....
That means I can only redirect one domain I assume, so it uses relevant smtp server (I have a couple of different domains).
Also, surely that mean that when I respond to my emails forwarded from my own domain to the icloud account they will be sent with my icloud email address or can I set them to display the from address of the relevant domain they were originally sent to?
Thanks again for all your help.

  • Private Fields on me card not respected with iCloud sync

I have set certain fields on my Me card as private (not to be shared.) When my me card is synced to icloud and back down to my iPhone my iPhone does not respect the private fields when sharing my Me card from that device. The fields are respected when shared from my laptop.
I've been sharing private data with my customers that I expected to remain private. How can I fix this?

Yes, clearly post iCloud, QuickSync cannot 'see' the contacts list.
However, here's my question: is it possible to put a duplicate set of contacts where they used to be stored on the local Mac prior to iCloud? Then QS would see them and import them?
They could always be deleted afterwards if they caused a duplicate set to appear in Address Book for any reason.
Obviously this is a bit of a kludge as it won't get updated as you add/delete from Address Book. But I'd settle for my 500 contacts being at least transfererd! I could put up with repeatign this workaroudn occasionally.
    Thoughts?

  • Issues with icloud syncing

Hello, I have issues with my iphone 4s under ios 7.1.2. I have always set the settings to automatically sync all my setup to icloud. However, from time to time, my iphone suddenly loses all my contacts even though icloud is still activated. I have faced this unstability several times in the past 3 months. I haven't found an automatic way to retrieve them but it seems that deactivating icloud, restarting the iphone and reactivating icloud is working.
However, is there another way to fix this issue for good? It indeed becomes very troublesome.
    Thanks for your help.

First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

  • ICal with iCloud syncing - how to back up

Like many others, I have had problems with multiple entries on iCal. In my case, i probably stuffed up trying to fix it. I ended up with duplicate calendar items before I switched off mobile me.
I also updated iPad and iPhone 4 with OS5 thinking i could install Lion later, which I now have.
I kept a copy of iCal before I did anything, but can't seem to find a way to reinstall it instead of the mess I have. When I open it, it just wants to fix my current iCal which doesn't work, as the current calendar items are different to the ones showing before I backed up.
Any suggestions as to how I can just revert to the old iCal please?
BTW, I think Lion is great, and if I can fix my iCal it will be greater still.
    Dougo

Here is what I would do.  There is no data on your iCloud calendar at iCloud.com. Correct?  If any data remains there, remove it and delete any calendars there.
Turn  off ICloud on all devices.
On your mac, I would Make a new copy of the calendars present. Highlight/select each calendar that is present, go to file menu select export and then export again.  Save these files seperatley from your other back up.
Ok so now you have a clean iCloud at iCloud.com, and new and old back ups of the calendars on your mac.
1st we will test the new back ups. Delete all calendars in iCal on your mac.  You may not be able to delete the home calendar but uncheck it.  So your Mac iCal should now be empty.  Double click on your new back up files and see if they recreate the calendars you saw before your last deletion.  If they do, then you know you can get back to the same place you are now if your older back up doesn't work.
Assuming the above worked, then again delete all calendars on you mac. Restart your mac.  Double click on the file  Computers-Software iCal 161011.ics .
This should recreate your iCal calendars the way they were before.  Then turn back on Calendar from the  ICloud preference pane. Go to Calendar in iCloud.com and see if the new calendars show up there.  If so, turn on iCloud on other devices.
If for some reason this doesn't work, then you can restore your current iCal  calendar on your mac from the newest backups you just made.
