Vertical Hold problem

I have successfully connected my 5th gen Ipod to my television using A/V cables and the S-video cable. I can see I-tunes-purchased video and my pictures and the audio is present.
My issue is that the picture rolls and the contrast is a little off to make everything look black and white. I contacted the television maker (Sanyo) and walked me through troubleshooting and found no issues. The V-hold is an internal chip in the television and worked fine when the cables were hooked through a DVD player.
I have tried two sets of A/V cables and one set of S-video cables and the exact same issue appears. The cables work fine with other devices so it appears to be an issue with my Ipod.
Any suggestions?

T30 vertical hold problem

Strange problem with T30 screen - there is an area at the bottom of the screen (about 1/16") and it's almost as if someone was fooling with the vertical hold adjustment on an old TV. Not a major problem that can be lived with, but am curious if there is a way to adjust this? Thanks

Video screen 'vertical hold' gone?

Hi Guys
wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a fix. Basically when I turn my ipod video on, approximately 9 out of ten times (a month ago it was probably 1 time in 10) the screen will come on but it looks like the image is 'flickering' almost like when you used to play with the vertical hold on an old TV. sometimes when you turn it off and back on or plug it into the computer and then unplug it it will be perfectly fine again... until it is turned off and back on again it will go nuts again.
oh and yes, it has the latest software, and has been reset.

T43 Vertical Scrolling Problem (not just Firefox)- Any official response from Lenovo

After searching the forum, i have not been able to find any response from Lenovo as to how to correct this problem.
Incidentally, my "occasional" vertical scrolling problem occurs in any browser, IE7, Firefox3, Opera9 (at least those 3) as well as Windows applications with a vertical scroll bar like Windows Explorer.
This only started to occur very randomly around 6 months ago. But as of late it is occuring more often.

might indicate that it is a possible hardware problem.
However, I have to say that I rarely use the laptop scrolling buttons and 99.9% of the time, latetly, I use a Logitech laser USB mouse for scrolling purposes.
As another possible work-around (if you are using an external mouse) is to uncheck the enable virtual scrolling in the touchpad properties window.
I certainly hope it is not a hardware problem, as the warranty on my T43 ran out a long time ago.
btw, I am running Windows XP Pro XP3.

Vertical Scrolling problem in Safari

I'm currently having an odd vertical scrolling problem in Safari. This issue is not reproduced in Chrome or Firefox.
I've been able to reproduce this issue doing something very simple:
I have a browser wide rectangle with a solid color.
Beneath that I have a browser wide photo. (Rectangle set to browser edges and then fit to fill with photo.)
And beneath that I have another browser wide rectangle with a solid color.
Then I scroll.
Once the photo (the middle element) reaches the top of the screen I have shut the scrolling off so the photo will stay static. (Initial motion 1 / Final motion 0 set in the "Fill/Scroll" tab - and the key position is set so it stops at the top of the browser.) As expected, the lowest box continues to scroll upwards and cover the static photo.
This very simple effect is flawless in Preview mode, Chrome, and Firefox.
Yet in Safari, the photo, once it reaches its resting spot, does stay static, but seems to jump and jitter all over the place while I continue scrolling and the below content covers it. (In the other browsers it's super solid like a real static background.)
I've read there are some parallax scrolling bugs in Safari Mavericks. But I'm still in an older operating system using 10.8.5 and Safari 6.0.5.
Any suggestions or work arounds on how to correct this? (Again, I'm controlling the scroll using the scroll tab found with "Fill". Should I also be using the one found under Scroll Effects? What the best one to use? Although it does work in the other browsers… so… maybe I'm not doing anything wrong and this really is a Safari problem.)

Satellite 3000 screen vertical line problem

my laptop is Satellite 3000 , it got vertical line problem now, i wanna use a outside CRT screen to replace the current damaged LED screen.
I have tried to use FN-F5 swap key, but it is still doesn't work, i tried to log in the system to check it, (the system (windows xp) is normal), but i can't see anything because the screen is black, it won't get in the system even if i connected it in to the LAN, because the laptop network function configuration is not allow connect with internet,( i did ghost before it completely damaged), the question is :
1, do i need to configure something so as to it can use outside screen in windows XP system? or just use FN-F5 swap key?
2, how will i do next step if i wanna use the outside screen ?

If the notebook is preinstalled with all Toshiba designed tools and utilities FN+F5 key combination should work. Of course the external monitor should be connected properly.
If you are missing some tools FN+F5 key combination will not work.
What I want to know is what happens exactly when you use FN+F5 key combination? Stays the LCD screen black or switch to the right picture again? As far as I know if you use FN+F5 key combination and LCD on the notebook stays black that means the signal is send to external device but if the monitor is not connected properly or there is some contact problem you will not see the content on external monitor.
Believe me it is not easy to say what is wrong there but if possible try to test it with different monitors. Satellite 3000 is pretty old notebook model and maybe is RGB port defective.

Can someone help me with my 27" iMac's Gray screen with 5 Pink Vertical Line Problem?

I'm new to the forums, but I have a serious problem with my nearly 4 year old iMac 27" model.
I was using my iMac one evening and then suddenly everything displayed on the screen gets immediately pushed to the left of the computer screen. Then after a minute, my screen turns a solid gray, displaying no dock, no header bar, no options, and the keyboard and mouse suddenly disconnect.
When I turned back on my computer, it seemed to boot up perfectly normal. The normal gray start-up screen displays:
Then it displays the Apple logo and begins to spin the loading circle icon below it. But this time it adds 5 vertical pink lines down the screen from left to right. They stay in place the entire time:
And then when the login screen finishes loading, instead of bringing up my Account and my Password text box, it displays just a solid gray screen with the same 5 pink vertical lines on it, as shown below:
I've let it set for a half hour and nothing changes. During this time the keyboard and mouse seem to be disconnected, nothing seems to work with the screen or the computer itself. I hold the on/off button on the rear, turning it off and then on again. The same process happens with the boot up, the Apple logo appears, then the spinning loading icon below it, and then the vertical bars appear and the Apple logo and spinning icon disappear.
Is this a problem with the screen that an external monitor hooked up to it might fix, or is it a graphics card problem? I didn't buy the extended warranty package for the computer and it's roughly 3 1/2 years old.
Any idea what might cause this and how it could be fixed in the cheapest way possible?

Brushes Vertical Scrolling Problem

I have been using PSE8 for a month now. I have a problem with my brushes. When my brushes palette dialog box is open and I want to use my mouse to hold the vertical scroll bar on the left down. Once I click on it with my mouse pointer, the whole dialog box closes. So, that means that if I want to scroll up or down my list of brushes I have to use the arrow keys on my keyboard. Could someone please tell me what is going on?

Does it make any difference if you click on the arrow icon >> and select re-set brushes? You will find this towards the top right of the brushes pallet.

Spry vertical menu problem with IE

We implemented the spry vertical menu for showing the
categories of a products catalog. It has almost 1800 categories
organizad at about 5 levels, some categories have about 30
subcategories. These categories are extrated from a database.
It works in mozilla but in IE present this problem:
- The response time is slow when you change from one category
to ahother. And the effiecience decrease.

I tried in Firefox 3 and IE7 and they both seemed fairly slow
for any action to take place. But IE7 did seem pretty slugish.
It seems that you're already determined what the issue is,
you have waaaaaay too many menu items. Seems to me that that number
of items don't belong in a menu. There are even menus that are too
long to appear entirely on the page, so they can't be easily
accessed without accidentally hiding the menus again, which I did
several times. IN particular:
Cartuchos > Technologica
If you cannot change to a different format to show all of the
items, then perhaps you can split up the menu so that you don't
have too many at one time. I checked the code of your page and it
seems that you've got a lot of other scripting going on there
besides Spry, so is the issue with Spry or with everything else
you're trying to do with that menu. If you can try to recreate the
page with only the menu items on it (and not pulled in dynamically
on the fly), and then add back to your page a bit a time, you might
be able to find out what is really causing the delays.

I dropped my iPhone 5s and white vertical bars problem

Recently today I dropped my iPhone 5s and white vertical bars started to appear in the right hand side of my phone... Do I just need to get my screen replaced or is there more to the problem?

Apple doesn't replace the display on the 5s, only the 5 and the 5c. Probably wouldn't matter anyway. The damage is probably more extensive than just the display.
Make an appointment at the genius bar. A replacement is $269 if you don't have AppleCare+

Accordion with Vertical Navigation problem

Following tutorial about phone layout accordion/vertical navigation menu encountering following problem in my original file:
Create accordion - ok (style to my pref)
Insert vertical navigation - ok (style to my pref)
When trying to resize the v/nav to hit the red line on browser edge - both left and right, in preview and in mobile simulator the navigation panels don't expand accordingly to the width of the mobile screen.
If try with only accordion with no menu all ok. As soon as I add the navigation and try to size to hit the red guides indicating that it will resize with browser size, when preview it doesn't as described above.
Any suggestions?

Max vertical size problems

Why is the JTextFields maximum vertical size "infinite" by default ?
If it is resized taller then the preferred size, it looks stupid (
it has more space than needed for one line, but the extra space is unused ).
Which leads to the following problem : If I have a panel
with BoxLayout(X_AXIS) that contains a JTextField and a VerticalGlue,
the text field takes all the extra vertical space. The glue takes none !
Why ?
Shouldn't the extra space be distributed evenly accross all components ?
Actually this is what happens with other components, but JTextField seems to have some kind of higher priority and takes all the available space. Is this a bug ?
Similar problem with JSeparator ( a horizontal "line" ):
Why does it have a maximum height of 32767 ?
It is just a line, always 2 pixels ( or so ) high.
Now it takes up part of extra space, instead of always being 2 pixel high.
I am using the following code to fix these problems, but I think that I shouldn't have to, that those are some kind of bugs in Swing :

Layout managers all have their areas of specialty. If you find yourself fighting with one of them to get what you want it might be wise to try a different one. We have lots of options available.

Vertical lighting problems on 15"MBP

Hi all.
I've been having a problem with the display on my late-2008 (non-unibody) MBP. Most often it happens when the computer gets hot--gaming or watching movies. Anyway, the screen suddenly dims quite a bit, and I'm left with something like this:

The screenshot was taken while running XP, where it happens much more frequently, but I definitely have the problem in OSX too.
I think there may be new display drivers out for Windows on this edition of the MBP, but I haven't been able to figure out which ones/get them working. I know I have all the drivers that were on the Leopard DVD that I got with my computer in January.
I've scoured the internet (or at least Googled until I could Google no more), and haven't been able to find an answer. Any thoughts?

Matrix report vertical line problem

Development tool:
Report Builder 11.1.2.2.0 (64-bit) on Windows 7
Solaris app server with the following software versions:
Oracle Forms and Reports 11g 11.1.2.2.0
FMW is 11.1.1.7
WLS is 10.3.6.0.8
This is a report with a matrix. The rows across have multiple fields and some of those fields may wrap depending on the amount of data in an individual field. The matrix portion contains a single data item that does not wrap (basically just a single word status with some conditionally color formatting). I have added a vertical line to the matrix item so there will be grid lines between each column. All the frames are set to vertical-expand and horizontal-fixed. I have also tried setting all the frames to vertical-variable and horizontal-fixed. The problem is the vertical line does not expand when the data items in the across row cause a wrap and expand the height of the row vertically. I've tried setting the vertical line to stretch with the same frame that encloses the across rows. When I do this the vertical line disappears. As soon as I set any value in stretch with frame the line stops showing. I've tried all the combinations I can think of for printing on first, last, all and base printing on anchoring or enclosing and nothing works. The line will only show if I leave the stretch with frame as null but it looks terrible when it is the height of one row but the actually row of data across may be a larger size due to field wrapping.
Any suggestions?

You will need to include an additional column of your date column to your SQL statement.
e.g Your original column - to_char(your_date_column,'Month') "Months Name".
Add a new column - to_char(your_date_column,'MM') "Sort Column".
In the Matrix Row, include this new column field also. In the Data Model, move this new column field to the top. Remove the Break Order property to NONE for your original date field (Months Name).
