Vertical spacing bug in IE?

I'm having a rendering problem I can't track down in my code,
and it
shows up in IE7 but not Firefox. I'm getting extra vertical
space on
some <p>s that are nested within a few divs and tds;
I'm thinking that
it's extra top or bottom margin or padding. The <p>s
are affected by
various selectors, including id and class selectors, as well
as
descendant and sequential selectors.
Are there any known IE7 bugs that might be causing my
problem?
Thanks!
-Kim

I'm not an code expert. But what I do is look at the code
carefuly of an area that works and compare it to one that doesn't.
Some times DW positions the <class> or <span>
attributes in a different order. Its both irritating and time
consuming but it can make a difference in the way it shows up on
the browser.

  • Vertical spacing out of wack in IE, but perfect in Safari?

I have newbie question about vertical spacing in the frame
based design of the site I am working on. I did not design the
website but I was just asked to take over the basic updating and
    maintenance of the content.
    www.brainoptimization.com
When I view my site in IE or Safari for Windows it looks just
the way it is supposed to.
But when viewed in Internet Explorer for windows the vertical
spacing in the left column (as well as the spacing between the
first 5 paragraps in the right column) is completely out of whack!
IE for win puts huge chucks of space between the cells where none
was put. Any idea what is going on and how I can correct this
issue? I am using Dreamweaver 8 on a mac. Any help would be
    appreciated. Thank you.
    Cheers.

Not sure how that page would look perfect in any browser
    truthfully :-)
In Firefox there are huge pages in the left column. That
    mosaic picture is
about halfway down the page. The styling of the paragraphs is
    all over the
place because nearly every paragraph on the page has a new
    style applied to
it. From the code I can see well over 100 'styles' ....
    someone has really
overdone the use of creating new styles - or using the
    property inspector to
create new styles for each paragaph. There are numerous empty
    cells with
the table structure, many colspans etc., that make for a very
    fragile page
indeed - hence the reason for it not working cross
    browser/platform.
In all honesty, I would start over - it looks like a simple 2
    column
structure and shouldn't be a problem with getting it to
    display correctly in
*every* browser :) Sorry for the bad news.
One thing you can try first off at least (I haven't looked at
    the code too
much after seeing all those styles)., place the mouse cursor
    into the left
column and in the property inspector set the vertical
    alignment to 'top'.,
maybe that will move the contents of that left column to the
    top rather than
half way down the page... may or may not work - depending on
    whether those
    colspans get in the way.

  • Vertical Spacing

I have experiencing irregularities with the vertical spacing
of images in different browsers. I am working on an iMac 10.4.11.
The site looks as I intended it to read while in Safari, but when
opened in Firefox the text-based navigation bar which runs along
the body copy grows along with the body copy - the spacing adjusts
itself to the length of the body copy.
Do I need to rebuild my pages? (please, say no!) or is there
code to keep the text from spacing out?
    Here is the site:
    http://www.banksems.com/BankSems2008/index.html
The Contact Me page is the only page which represents what it
was designed to look like. All of the other pages contain incorrect
    spacing.
    Thanks for any input!

    Hello,
Take a look at this link, specifically the example under
    "Table 3":
    http://apptools.com/rants/spans.php
All of your text is in a cell that you made by merging 13
    rows in that
    column.
All of your links are in the unmerged part of the 13 rows in
    a following
    column.
When the one merged cell with all the text gets taller, the
    top unmerged row
in the following column stays at the top of the merged cell
    and the bottom
row stays with the bottom of the merged cell.
The rows between are spaced out.
You don't see this on the "Contact" page because the text in
    the merged cell
is not as tall as the 11 rows in the next column, so it
    doesn't spread them
    apart.
To avoid this, you can use a simple table with 1 row and 2
    columns.
In the first column, insert all your text.
In the second column, insert another table with the number of
    rows equal to
your number of links. This is a "nested" table. Give the cell
    this nested
table is in a valign:top, and the table with all your links
    in it will stay
at the top of the column. Because the rows in this nested
    table aren't
"connected" to any merged rows, they won't space down the
    page.
    Here's an example using tables:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01

  • How to reduce vertical spacing in repeating frame? - SOLVED

My problem is that space between repeating frame and fields inside this frame cannot be smallest then 1.1mm (1/25 of inch). This crete aditional vertical spacing 2mm per one row. It is not possible move field near frame border.

Not sure why this is not working for you. Your paper layout is wysiwyg for the most part. I would put snap to grid ON and make sure there is no space between my frame and the fields inside it. You can can zoom in to make sure there is no space. <b>You may have to resize your field to get the field to snap to the grid before you try and move it up against the frame.</b> You just have to keep playing with snapping to the grid until everything fits. I would recommend not turning off snap to grid until you are really comfortable with Oracle Reports.

  • What is up with my vertical spacing?

I can't figure out why my vertical spacing in my left side column is off. No matter what I do, all the elements want to spread themselves and I want them to be towards the top. I'd appreciate it if someone could look at this site for me and maybe offer some insight as to what I'm doing wrong here. The URL is http://www.agrabest.com. The index page is not as much of a problem as the subsequent pages, simply because of the page length, I believe. Thanks so much for any help!

I have recreted a table for you that contains the content from you broccoli page as an example  You do not need a table cell to cneter protions of an individual cell - you can use a di, in this case with a class="ctr", and add this to yoru css :
    .ctr {
        text-align: center;
I have not attempted to do this precisely matching yorus.  But it does let you see how to do this without nexting lots of tables or using lots of table cells:

  • Marker spacing (bug?)

I have a program that periodically gets updated with different z scale intensity graph max and min values (which are used to establish the range of a color table) .  I want the user to have the option of specifying the number of marker intervals but I seem to have run into a bit of a bug.  As it turns out, "uniform marker spacing" is not in fact uniform if the scale goes into the negative range.  It seems that the scale must always increment with respect to the 0 marker regardless of where i specify the start range property to be.
Case in point, look at the VI I've attached.  I have a scale from - 100 to 100, and I try to divide it into 5 even intervals. Ideally, the scale markers would just read 100, 60, 20, -20, 60, 100.  Instead, because it chooses to always use 0 as the increment reference, it reads 100 80, 40, 0, 40, 80, -100.  Does anyone know of a way around this?
    Solved!

I haven't tested the following theory:
A scale has 5 properties: Min, Max, Major Increment, Minor Increment, Start.
I think that the Start will allways be at a marker value, so I think that changing the Start to 'Min' will get you where you want.

  • If I hit enter to go to a new line it's double spaced(BUG)

if I hit enter to go to a new line it's double spaced even thought it's set to single space.
in the inspector "T" the "LINE" says 1 and single. I can change the line spacing to look like 1 by sliding it down to 0.01 to look like 1 of single but that's pretty tedious.
    So it's a bug yeah?
The part that's messed up was add in from notes app which is the problem I'm guessing. Still it's a bug.
I've tried copying into a new pages doc and still no go.
    Anyway ideas around this bug?
    thanks

Probably just had an extra return at the end of paragraph, which is a common style in Notes.

  • Vertical spacing between paragraphs

    Hello experts,
I am having trouble closing up the space between a title and
a subtitle that needs to have a different style. I am usingCSS.
Line spacing seems to work only on the vertical space between
lines within a paragraph, not between paragraphs. This makes sense.
I have tried putting each element in its own table cell, each
with its own id, and playing with positive and negative margins and
padding. If there is a combination that would work, I would be glad
to hear it. At the moment my knowledge of margins and padding is
based almost totally on trial and error, not on comprehension.
My current work around is to keep the subtitle in the same
paragraph, put in a line break, and the style the subtitle. That
has given me a good result on my browser, but I'm not sure about
other browsers. Also, work arounds me nervous about creating other
    problems I don't know about.
Can anyone give me the right solution, or at least critique
    my work around solution?
Many thanks so much in advance for help.

  • Use 40 black 1 pixel x 400 pixel vertical lines, and create an experimental composition using varying vertical spacing?

Ive been pulling my hair out on how to do this all day and im getting no where i dont even know where to begin! Please help if anyone knows how to do this.

    enforcer4u,
she said posting here if help was needed was a good idea...
This is Classroom in a forum.
I believe the first line should have read Use 40 black 1 pixel x 400 pixel vertical lines, and create an experimental composition using varying vertical > horizontal spacing.
One way (she may be following this thread, you know) would be to:
    1) create a horizontal/vertical (composition Three/Four) line with the Pen Tool with a length corresponding to the whole composition and two or more Anchor Points, ShiftClickDragging at each with different lengths of the Handles;
    2) Create a vertical/horizontal line by ClickDragging with the Line Tool (or just Click with the Line Tool and set the Length and direction, then move a copy (ShiftAlt/OptionDrag the original, start dragging a tiny bit before you press the keys);
    3) Object>Blend>Blend Options, set Spacing to Specified Steps, 38 steps;
    4) Select the lines from 2) and Object>Blend>Make;
    5) Select both the Blend from 4) and the line from 1) and Object>Blend>Replace Spine.
Other ways include creating the first line and then ShiftAlt/OptionDragging to create the other lines up/down/left/right depending on composition, or creating or all the lines (maybe using the blend) and then ShiftClickDragging individual lines.

    +page fault in non-paged area STOP 0x00000050 (0xC09C3044, 0x00000000, 0X804DA90AA, 0X000000002)+
This basically indicates that memory - either RAM, L2-Cache or Videomemory died. But i also learned that the graphic card can be smoked.
After the blue screen you wont get the system into normal working condition, no matter what you try.
I would strongly advise to check if your Qosmio is under warranty and see your dealer for exchange. Fortunately i bought mine 2006/06/06 so its still under warranty (even if just a view days left).
Additional information: another member of this forum had a similar problem and reported that the whole motherboard has to be changed which causes cost of USD 700.00 and up!
I will let you know what i ended up with.

    The Q

Unfortunately, this sounds like a serious hardware issue as the other member suggested, the GPU (graphic card) could be faulty and therefore the replacement is necessary.
The point is that the GPU is soldered on the motherboard and its not possible to remove the graphic chip from the board. In most cases the whole motherboard must be replaced to solve such graphic problems.
In my opinion you should contact your ASP as fast as possible.
The technicians should be able to help you explain the whole situation and you issue and ask for the further handling.
    Good luck buddy

  • Horizontal Menu Bar Spacing Bug?

I created a horizontal menu bar. Chose Uniform Spacing from the blue fly-out menu.
After adding a another couple of pages, the menu spacing failed to update—the menu now looked cramped in places.
I had to go back to the Master Page and choose Uniform Size, and then Uniform Spacing in order for the menu to update correctly.
    Using Muse CC ver. 7.1.

    thanks, beth
i'm the kind, probably such as your self, as well, that tends to blur a little in and out of reality !
i too, leave things like js and php to those who like it, and concentrate on design - other than knowing enough to do things like changing the delay time in the js for the spry dropdown
thanks for your invitation and i will do so as time permits
as a small attempt at returning the favor, i was going to pose another problem to you when i found the solution, and so instead i will offer you the solution - you may well already have it, but just in case:
i noticed (or rather the client noticed, but i've seen it before!) that a small dotted rectangle appears onclick on the spry links in firefox and ie, but not in safari
the solution is to place onfocus="blur()" within - and at the end - of the a href tag like this:
if you knew this, please ignore my attempt - if you didn't, well then . . .there ya go!

  • Paragraph Spacing Bug?

Whenever I open a fla in CS5, any classic text paragraph spacing that was a negative value is set to 0.  Has anyone else experienced this?
    My version is 11.0.2.489.

It happened at http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/How-do-I-get-rid-of-home-profile-call-area-on-r... yesterday immediately after accepting the answer. It also persisted on page reload after editing the answer post.
But it no longer seems to be the case there, which is weird, unless somebody changed something.
The next time it happens I will grab a screenshot and a link and some more details about the css. I should have the first time but I didn't think it was going to be a transient issue.
Was using Chrome 43 on Windows 7.

  • E-mails: excess vertical spacing

When I send an e-mail (Hotmail) through Firefox that I have created and pasted from MS Word, it looks just fine on the e-mail ready-to-send screen but after it is sent and I check it in sent mail, there appears triple or quadruple spacing between paragraphs (even though the document in Word (and on the to-be-sent screen) was single-spaced with only double spacing between paragraphs.
How can I eliminate the excess spacing?
    Thanks.

If you paste HTML code then you can check the source code to see what exactly is pasted. Word may be adding extra <nowiki><P></nowiki> tags or other code that is causing it.

  • Leading & Vertical Spacing Problem

    Here's one for you.
I have a 77 page document I'm working on. Let's say you have two text frames next to each other, positioned exactly the same, vertically. They're aligned like two columns.
Font family, point size and leading are the same in both text frames. Exactly the same! Text and paragraph styles are in use, and one paragraph style is a bulleted list. The bullet is a Zapf Dingbat.
However, I have the hardest time getting text in both columns to line up, vertically. I can't figure out why and I'm struggling to adjust the leading between each line, and that isn't working very well.
I cannot see why these two text frames, with the exact same type characteristics, won't line up . Hard returns are used between each line.
What am I missing?  I can create a new document with the same layout (two text frames) and I can get the text to line up perfectly, vertically.
    Any suggestions?

    Thank you, Peter and Willi.
I went through every page carefully and realize that were some incorrect Paragraph Styles applied to text, that do indeed have 9px of Space After applied.  It was driving me crazy and I assumed my character or paragraph styles were applied correctly.
Look for the + sign after the Paragraph Style or check every bit of text to make sure the correct style is applied.
    Thanks again.
