Vertical Spry sub menu bar gets misplaced in IE
Hi,
I'm using Vertical spry menu bar 1.4 and it works fine in
Firefox, but the submenu appears on a different place in Internet
Explorer, you can check it at
http://www.holystichaven.com/Html/main.html,
i tried changing the positions using the margins provided on the
help, but it still won't work.
Thanx for any help.
Wayne
Hello,
Here are the steps you should do to make the menu work as
expected:
1. Remove all the <div align="center"> from the HTML
source because this will trigger a bug in IE and will apply to all
<a> tags when they are declared as block elements and will
modify their position.
2. Go into your CSS and in the first class ul.MenuBarVertical
change the width:auto; with width: 11em;
3. Into the CSS change into the "ul.MenuBarVertical ul" the
margin property:
margin: 0% 0 0 95%;
to
margin: 0% 0 0 11em;
4. In the "ul.MenuBarVertical a" please add the following
line:
text-align: center;
5. Go to the following URL:
http://www.cristic.ro/samples/SpryMenuBar.js
and our latest version for the Spry Menu Bar that fix an issue on
IE.

Spry Horizontal Menu Bar not working in IE
Hi! I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I recently used Dreamweaver to build a website to display my digital portfolio. I am not very good at this and don't understand much of this works. I inserted a spry horizontal menu bar for my navigation. I did change the original set up to have the background the colors I wanted and I also changed the size so it would go across the top of my page. This looks fine in Firefox and Safari but in Internet Explorer the bar displays vertically, which does not look good. Can anyone look at my code and tell me how I can fix this problem?
I appreciate any help I can get with this as I have tried everything I know.

Spry Horizontal Menu bar - submenu position
I'm new to spry so apologies in advance if this has been
posted before.......
I'm putting together a new site using the spry horizontal
menu bar - I've managed to put together a CSS format which works
well in both FireFox and IE7 EXCEPT for the position of the
sub-menus below the main menu bar. IE7 seems to position the sub
menu relative to the top right corner of the parent menu item.
Firefox seems to position it relative to the bottom left corner -
and I can't find a solution which works for both browsers. Any
ideas?You must have fixed it in the meantime as I see no problem.

Spry Horizontal Menu Bar in IE
Hello,
I had looked at the forums for a possible solution to this, and none of the answers I have found work for me. I have a spry horizontal menu bar with a background image. It works in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox but on IE the background image does not show. There is only a white background. I have changed ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE to have a background image but it still doesn't show in IE.
This is the website: fwmedpeds.net
I am very new to this and any help is appreciated.If you go to your online SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css which can be found here http://fwmedpeds.net/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css, you will see the last few lines as I have previously quoted.
You will also see what Ken Binney has said

Why does Spry horizontal menu bar displays as a list?
I createda spry hoizontal menu bar which looks great on my workspace but when I preview it in a browser, it displays as an unordered list.Does anyone have an explanation for what has happened and how to correct it?
It sounds like the path to the support files - SpryMenuBar.js and/or SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css - is not correct.

My spry horizontal menu bar is now displaying vertical. How do I fix it?
My horizontal spry menu bar displays correctly at http://www.matthewvandyke.com/ar/photos/ but displays vertical at http://www.matthewvandyke.com/ar/about.html. It started doing this a few days ago and I am not sure why.
Can anyone take a look at this code and tell me why this would be happening?

SpryMenuBar.js
This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar. You should have no need
to edit this file. Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
showing that submenu until the timer fires.

You might try a transitional DTD, which should be more forgiving than the strict:

Other than that, I don't see anything particular (because I don't see the error, either) that would cause the menu to drop vertically instead of horizontally.

Spry Horizontal menu bar borders not showing in IE6/IE 7 but ok in Mozilla!
I am hoping someone can help me! I have built a spry menu
with CS 3 and have altered the CSS file to customise colours etc.
the problem I am encountering is that I have specified white
borders around the menus items and sub menus which look perfectly
fine in Mozilla Firefox but when I check IE 6 & 7 the borders
have disappeared! I am hoping someone you may have a workaround or
any reason this might happen.

Positioning of spry sub menu in IE8
Hi - can anyone help with an IE8 issue concerning Spry? I have created a menu here:
http://www.clinicafiore.co.uk/jan2012/indexJan2012_1.html
In all the browsers I have tested (Chrome,FF,Safari,Opera) on Mac and PC platforms it works fine. In IE8 it doesn't (hooray).
The critical attribute is:
ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul.MenuBarSubmenuVisible
left: 189px;
top: 0;
I.e. I have pushed the sub-menu out 189px when visible and set the top value to 0 thinking this would align the sub-menu with the top of the main menu item.
Is there a better way to do this to cover all browsers or do I need some conditional code for IE?
Really.really grateful for any help
For good measure here's all the html & the css

I think that you used the vertical menu as an illustration to shopw how you want the submenu alligned. If that is correct, then please copy an paste the following into a new document and see the result in an IE8 browser.

Spry horizontal menu bar messing up in IE
I'm using Dream Weaver CS4 and I have a horizontal spry menu bar at the top of my page and it shows up and functions properly in every browser except for IE. (tested in IE7). After the accepting the Active X warning, the menu shows up as a vertical style menu and the colors are not right. The Sub-menus are also showing up in a vertical fashion. Please help!

How do I move the text in the spry sub-menu down?
Hello I am currently developing a website in Dreamweaver CS6 and I have come to a problem I can't seem to solve. I have created a fairly straight forward spry menu bar and used css to edit it, however as you can see in the image below, the sub-heading below the 'My Work' is really close to the 'My Work' heading and it doesn't look too good. I was wondering if there is a way I can move the 'Graphic Design' text in the sub-heading down a bit using css so everything looks more neat and spread out.
ThanksHere's the code, I think this is the one you asked for?

How do I change height of the Spry Horizontal Menu Bar?
Hi,
I've been playing around with the Spry menu bar for 3 days now and I can't seem to increase the height of the spry menu bar the way I want. It increases when you enlarge the text, but I don't want it to get too big, but I still need to increase the height of the box. I also tried it in the properties. The box's height will increase but the text stays at the top of the box which looks really weird because I want it to be centered. Also, when do this, the submenus increase along and I want them to stay the same size.
I truly hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance.

Spry widget menu bar as a library item - problems
I created a spry vertical menu bar and made it a library item. The original works great, however when I insert the library item into its own div tag on another page, the submenus will not pop out, either in DW or the browser view. The div tag is the correct size and I made the z index high enough. Here is the code of the page that works properly:

I understand about having the script and link element that connect my page to the dependent files in the SpryAssets folder in the header and the JavaScript function cal at the bottom on each page. I don't know what else to do - HELP!Welcome to the Dreamweaver world!
Well, having your index.html page at the top/root level is important, as that is the default page by which people will enter your site.
Having other pages in folders is fine...I do it all the time in order to keep departments or categories of information sorted.
One characteristic of having pages in folders is that the hierarchy of files in folders (perforce) puts them at different depths in the site.
This is not inherently a bad thing! Just one to remain aware of. When you look at your site files in the Files Panel, you can see a graphical representation of those different levels.
But the nature of a library item is that it is identical in all its instances, which is what makes it useful...change it in the library, and it changes site-wide. The down-side of that identity is that when your files are at different depths in the hierarchy, their links back to, say, home (or any other same file) will change depending on the depth. You can see this if you make a link on a page, then drag the page (in the Files Panel) to a different depth...say, into a folder when it started at root level, or vice versa. Check the link, and you will see that it automatically adapted to the new path.
Library items do not do that; they do not change, so some of your links will be 'wrong' when you refer to pages that have different paths than the ones originally set up in the library item... because of the change in hierarchy.
All this is, of course, reliant on your creation of the site in the first place, as defining the root folder's location on your computer gives Dreamweaver a starting point for handling (juggling?) all the location-information for your site's files.
