Vertical Text in PowerPoint saved as a PDF

I just created a document in PowerPoint with vertical text.  When I saved the document, some of the vertical text and rotated back to horizontal changing the format of my document. Is there a way to save a PowerPoint document as PDF without changing the vertical text.

I think you really need to ask that in a Microsoft Office forum.

  • Text layers not saved correctly as PDF from PS?

    I frequently save layouts I do in Photoshop as PDF's. Lately I very often will discover the text does not display correctly in the PDF. One or two lines of text will display as white with a thin black outline, rather than as the basic solid black I'd specified.
    I work on a Windows 7 machine with the current version of PS. The text is on layers when I save the file to PDF (from PS), but I do not include the layers in the PDF, so they should be flattening down.
    Any ideas why this happens? I noticed a few weeks ago when it was also doing this that I updated the program a day later and the PDF's were not exhibiting this issue. But, now it's starting again. A big timewaster for me.
    Thanks for any suggestions offered.

    Text doesn't flatten until you tell it to. In fact that may be the problem here - you are telling the PDF maker to not retain vector text and when it tries to flatten, some layer style or something else gets in the way. Try to play with the PDF options. also manaulyl flatten the document in PS before saving to PDF...

  • Vertical text in PDF- XSL-FO

    Hi Guys,
    We are trying to display a vertical text is a column in a PDF file. ( 90 o rotation of horizontal test).
    Is it possible in XSL-FO transformation? Could you please throw some light on this?
    (As we have lot of columns we are not able to display the column headings horizontally. )
    Thanks in anticipation
    Regards
    Rajesh

    You have two questions here.
    1. Can you have rotated text in PDF?
    2. Is there an XSL-FO construct to produce that?
    3.
    three questions...
    3. There must be a third question here about Java Programming somewhere.

  • Vertical Text in PDF using CFDOCUMENT

    I am using font tag in a CSS file to layout a table header
    using vertical text. In HTML, the vertical text looks fine.
    However, when I convert the table to a pdf using
    <cfdocument>, the vertical text is displayed as horizintal
    text and does not follow the css specified font family, color or
    size.
    Here is the line in the CCS I am referencing:
    .header_vertical {FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 8pt;
    FONT-STYLE: normal; writing-mode:tb-rl; FONT-FAMILY: helvetica,
    arial, verdana, sans-serif; TEXT-DECORATION: none; COLOR: #0f437c}
    This is CFMX7 on a Windows Server 2003 OS running IIS.
    Any ideas???
    Thanks.

    Hi there, did you find a solution to this?
    I had the same issue and no matter what i tried it didn't
    work. I found out that CFDOCUMENT doesn't support CSS2.
    Eventually I came up with a clunky solution, but had no other
    choice. I bought some imaging software called Alagad (
    http://www.alagad.com) which
    produces the vertical text as images on the fly. Its not ideal, but
    there was no ther way I could disply the text.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Vertical text in charts appears upside-down in Acrobat pdf

    When I copy a chart with vertical text from Tableau into Word and then Save as Adobe PDF, the vertical text appears upside-down.
    When I copy a chart with vertical text from Tableau into Word and then Save as PDF using Word's built in PDF creator, the vertical text appears correctly.
    This bug occurs in both Adobe Acrobat 11 and Acrobat Pro DC. Can Adobe fix this bug?

    Never mind. I solved the problem myself. It turns out I needed to embed the font I used in the text boxes. Once I did that, everything shows up fine.

  • Saving psd as pdf text box error

    I have been using photoshop to create multi page pdf documents, using psd files with layers so that the text is selectable. A few months ago, this worked fine. Having not used this function since, today I tried to design a new brochure only to find a block of text was not appearing in the pdf document. Or it was appearing but messed up - mostly missing but some is there, some is invisible. Single line text is fine. Through trial and error I discovered text box text is fine, as long as the text doesn't go over two lines.
    I tried an old document, which I have already made a brochure with so I know it used to work, and it now has the same error. I also tried simply saving the file as a single pdf doc and it has the same problem, so its not only the multi page function. I've tried different fonts and different size fonts.
    I have updated photoshop, but that hasn't solved the problem.
    Any ideas?

    Its the latest version of photoshop and the latest version of acrobat on windows 7. Acrobat reads the pdf file created from the exact same psd but created 3 months ago fine. Creating a pdf with this file now and the text box goes wrong in acro.
    I used various pdf settings to try to get it to work. I went through just about every possibility. Various fonts including Ariel and Times New Roman

  • Hyperlinks not saved correctly in PDF and Excel

    Hi,
    I have a few reports with hyperlinks to other reports that contain multiple input parameters, which makes the links very long. ( greater than 400 characters )
    When the reports are saved as excel, I am unable to invoke the child report on clicking the link as the link is not saved entirely ( can see that when i try to edit the hyperlink in excel ).  Therefore the child report opens but prompts for inputs as not all the inputs are passed
    When saved as pdf, the link is not saved correctly and i cannot invoke the child report at all
    Please can you suggest a solution/workaround? Alternately is it possible to disable the hyperlinks when saved as excel/pdf?
    Regards
    Sameer

    Hello,
    I think this is a limitation in Excel where URL syntax has to be 255 characters or less
    In order to prove that it's coming from excel and not BO, try in excel to create a false hyperlink which contains more than 255 characters.
    A workaround might be to modify the cell as text and will not be recognized as a URL. So you should get it entirely.
    Please let me know if it helps you
    Regards,
    Philippe

  • Can a JPEG be 'saved as' a PDF (or other file type)?

    Can a JPEG file be saved as a PDF file?
    Also, can it be saved in a file format that will allow the image to be inserted into, e.g., a WORD document? (Or can a JPEG itself simply be inserted into a WORD doc 'as is'?)
    Thanks.

    You can reformat a .jpg to PDF.
    No, it doesn't reformat it. The .jpg is simply embedded into the PDF file. As BDAqua noted, if it's a high resolution image, OS X's built in PDF creation module will knock it down to screen resolution.
    For some reason, I was sent a chart (with numbers) as a jpeg file. Converting it to, and then printing it as, a PDF leaves the data in too small a font size.
    What size is the .jpg before you place it into a PDF? Open it in Preview and press Command+I. What is the image size in pixels and image DPI (resolution)?
    Is there any way to enlarge the text (via iPhoto, Preview, or some other Mac utility)?
    72 dpi is low, screen resolution. 300 dpi is standard high, print resolution. So if the original is already a low res file, then there's little to nothing you can do to improve the text on a printed piece.

       As far as my knowledge its not possible in Smartforms.
      I had the same requirement , what I had done is I have created a text in word and saved that as BMP and used that logo inside that window. But the requirement for me was that the TEXT was Static means it was not changing.

  • How to detect alterations to a JPG image that has been saved as a PDF

    I have received a file containing a cancelled bank check that was downloaded from a bank website and saved as a PDF of the screenshot. Upon opening the PDF, it appears that some of the original hand-written text in the image has been altered. I believe this PDfFwas originally saved as a JPG, then altered, then saved as a PDF. Is there any way to determine if indeed the text has been altered in the file? Thanks!

    Not easily.  The bank's original version may have been a JPEG, then a screenshot was taken of that and saved as a PDF with unknown compression.  (really, who saves a screenshot as a PDF?)
    You can examine the PDF in a text editor to see what created it.  You can open it in Illustrator to see the layer data (which might show tampering).
    Beyond that you'd need an imaging forensics expert to look for tampering with the JPEG compressed image data (was it compressed more than once, was something significantly altered)?

  • Printing full text of multi line responses in PDF

    I have created a PDF form using Form Central with Adobe XI but saved it as PDF to be sent ot users via email, they fill and send response back. I need to print the filled forms with all responses. Only when I print the filled forms the multiline responses do not print completey, there is some text that gets cut off. How can I print the entire response on the form.
    thanks.

    Go to Form Edit mode, right-click the field and select Properties. The font
    size property can be found under the Appearance tab.

  • Vertical text and Spotlight

    I'm not sure whether this topic is more InDesign, PDF or MacOSX related.
    See this document.
    Is it possible to make the number in the bottom left corner, searchable for Spotlight (MAC).
    The number is set vertically due to corporate guidelines.
    The file doesn't show up with a Spotlight search for that number.
    In Acrobat, the text is fully searchable. Even MAC's own Preview app can find the vertical text, which makes me wonder why Spotlight doesn't index it.
    Even google seems to index the vertical text.
    I don't want to add the number to the filename either, because we have strict file naming conventions to keep everything clear.
    Thanks in advance!

    Meanwhile I did some tests.
    It appears rotated text IS spotlight-searchable, BUT words are seperated in parts.
    For example: the text "ROTATED"
    At 30°, spotlight finds the file until i type the "E" character.
    30°: ROTAT - ED
    60°: ROTA - TED
    90°: RO - TA - TE - D
    It seems to split the words, and spotlight sees the parts as different words.
    While acrobat, mac preview etc. can search any combination characters, spotlight needs the first character of the word (it would never find "OME WOR" when "SOME WORDS" is in the file).
    I tried using tags, hyperlinks / bookmarks, script labels etc, many different PDF export options (PDF tags, invisble objects, PDF versions,…).
    I also played with some InDesign text controls that could cause the text splitting, like kerning/tracking settings, opentype features, hyphenation turned off...
    Also with mirroring (mirrored text is indexed by the way), vertical text in a non-rotated table.
    None of the above made the file spotlight-searchable.
    Opening the PDF in Illustrator shows the the text as 1 part, so I don't know why spotlight sees the words as seperate parts.
    John's invisible text-option looks like the solution to go with.
    Perhaps the "linked content" feature in can handle this, to make sure the visible and invisble text is always synced. (just switched from CS5.5, and didn't test that feature yet).

  • How can I show vertical text?

    Hi all, does any body knows how can I show a vertical text using g2.drawString() method?
    For example:
    g2.drawString("Help", x, y);
    I want the text appear like:
    p
    l
    e
    H
    of course with the correct rotation of each character.
    thanks in advance

    Here's the code we use in the JFreeChart project:
         * A utility method for drawing rotated text.
         * <P>
         * A common rotation is -Math.PI/2 which draws text 'vertically' (with the top of the
         * characters on the left).
         * @param text  the text.
         * @param g2  the graphics device.
         * @param x  the x-coordinate.
         * @param y  the y-coordinate.
         * @param rotation  the clockwise rotation (in radians).
        public static void drawRotatedString(String text, Graphics2D g2,
                                             float x, float y, double rotation) {
            if ((text == null) || (text.equals(""))) {
                return;
            AffineTransform saved = g2.getTransform();
            // apply the rotation...
            AffineTransform rotate = AffineTransform.getRotateInstance(rotation, x, y);
            g2.transform(rotate);
            // workaround for JDC bug ID 4312117 and others...
            TextLayout tl = new TextLayout(text, g2.getFont(), g2.getFontRenderContext());
            tl.draw(g2, x, y);
            // replaces this code...
            //g2.drawString(text, x, y);
            g2.setTransform(saved);
        }That bug workaround is causing trouble in some JDKs, try the original code and see if it works for you.
