Vertical vs. Landscape printing

I want to print my calendar in the "vertical" position with the appointments blocked off by color. Instead, it printing horizontal/landscape with the appointments denoted as a small thin vertical line. Anyway to correct this. I have tried both HP and Epson printers with the same result

Wow! I do NOT have com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Files in my preference folder have
file:///Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPod.plist
file:///Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork.plist
But no iphone.
Similarly, I do not have this folder:
Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
In fact, I have no files with iPhoto.plist or com.apple.iPhoto in them.
I have Yosemite 10.10.2 and when i look in Show View Options, there are only the first few lines of what you show. I only show icons and a couple of other things after "text size". There is no Show Library Folder.
My iPhoto library is in a separate drive (to save room on my MacBook Air's drive). Photos show up in iPhoto and in general searches, but I have had problems recently, and had to repair the library before iPhoto would open, but have not had any problems recently.
How do i get a new plist?
I also set up a new library and imported photos to it, but still have the same problem with printing and do not have a new plist file.
Any ideas? Should I reinstall iPhoto? If so, where do I get the file to reinstall, just download it from the App Store?

Stuck on landscape printing...

Hi - I'm a relative newcomer to Mac (but a very happy one) - for some reason I'm defaulting to landscape printing for all of my printers and can't find where to change it - can anyone help please

you could try this. bring up the print dialouge box by printing something but don't click print. you will see option in the drop down menus for landscape in there. Set your preferred choice and in tghe presets drop down menu, save. that may do it. other wise you could go a bit deeper and delete all printing prefs and re-setup your printers

Sorry but I have worked on laser printers for over 20 years and never encountered your issue. That is of course if you are explaining it correctly. When you make a copy to be printed or print a reports page from the printer or send a print job to the printer, if in all these cases you get the line, then yes the issue is either the toner cartridge or the fuser. If you make a copy to be printed and it prints without the line (Put original in adf, press copy button and print should come out), then you have one weird unit since it does not make sense since the print formatter on the unit whether making a copy or printing from the computer or unit itself uses the same hardware. Now to test if the printed copy has a line then just put a sheet of paper on top of the feed tray and do a self test from the printer. When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below. If the defect is present the toner cartridge is the issue and if the image below does not have the defect, then the fuser needs to be replaced. Best I can do. Good Luck.

Landscape print

We have a requirement to print information in a table manner which requires us to do Landscape prints (as portrait will not hold the information with correct alignment)
We are using default Arial font and just updated the "Orientation" to say "Lanscape" for all relevant sections for the print. We are able to generate the PDF correctly, also when I try generate a metacode file using BARR2VB utility (with printtype XER) it generates fine. But when I view it though Print Analyzer the PMODE still says "Portrait" and the Display at right hand side in the analyzer window also does not look right.
Please suggest If I need any specific setup to get desired Landscape output ?

You should be able to use the F2CON8 (Courier 8 point landscape) font. Are you using one of the old base FXR files that used to contain this font (font ID 12008) or did you add it yourself to your FXR file? In the Metacode font properties, you should see FXCON8 as the 0 degrees font, F9CON8 as the 90 degrees font, F1CON8 as the 180 degrees font, and F2CON8 as the 270 degrees font.
As far as loading fonts on the printer, it would depend on the printer and whether the printer is attached to a network or to a mainframe.
If you have an older model Xerox printer or one that is attached to a mainframe, you may be able to use the XERDNLD utility. It can be used to convert Xerox fonts into a quasi - print stream that when "printed" will download the font onto the printer. You would need to use the same Xerox printer INI settings that you would normally use when producing metacode output to be printed.
If you have a fairly modern printer, it may have a network attached server that runs the printer and holds the Xerox resource files including fonts. If so, then you should be able to use an FTP connection to load the fonts onto the server. You would need to check with Xerox for the location where the Xerox fonts are stored but it might be in a directory like
/opt/XRXnps/resources/lcds/
or
/var/spool/XRXnps/resources/lcds/
Make sure that the font filename (including the .FNT extension) is upper case and note that the directory names are mixed case.
Xerox should be able to provide you with specific information about loading Xerox fonts onto your printer.

Need Landscape printing in Mac OS X

I see from the release notes for 5.2.3 that landscape printing is not currently working. Any idea when this will work again?

In this instance, it was up to Dell to release an Intel Mac driver for this printer/scanner, which is, what, 5 or 6 years old? If they didn't, it was probably because they decided it didn't make business sense for them to spend money on developing and testing one. Keep in mind that Dell and Apple and Microsoft and all the rest are in business to make money, not to support every single customer for ever and ever and a day.

Photoshop CS6 Landscape Printing not working. Works fine in CS5.1

When I select Landscape printing, Photoshop CS6 waitis a moment and then goes back to portrait printing. And it will not print landscape. I still have CS5.1 and it works fine. I'm not sure what to do.

Yes, I did update to v13.0.1. It still will only print portrait.
My printer is an HP Photosmart C309a. All other programs landscape printing works. (Microsoft Publisher & Word 2007 for example).
When I click the landscape icon to change the print settings to print landscape--the program just waitis a few moments and then goes back to the selecting the portrait button.

P1505N LANDSCAPE PRINTING

I am using a P1505N with a UNIX software platform...Trying to set the config to landscape mode in the web based settings screen...When I change format to landscape & 60 lines per page, I then OK the configuration, restart the printer & try to print a job. The result is infinite blank pages...any ideas....I used this same format with an HP 1022nw in the past without problems.

Landscape Printing Numbers

I am using Numbers and have set my document to landscape in both the tool bar and the inspector, but it still prints portrait...
I have updated to latest Numbers, ditched prefs file and still can't print in landscape. I have tried two different printers (Samsung and Aficio).... help.
I can export to pdf and do it that way, but it's a bit frustrating.
BTW it all looks fine and appears to be in portrait in print view or preview.

I don't follow you here. Do you mean that when you have it set to landscape, print preview display landscape, but when you print it comes out in portrait?
To me, this all is very strange since the MacOSX printing architecture essentially is always using PDF (even when printing directly to hardware printer).
Do other applications on your Mac (say, TextEdit.app, for instance) work correctly in this regard?

I am facing the following strange behavior: if I choose the "Portrait" orientation in the Print dialog, everything is printed fine.
On the other hand, when I choose the "Landscape" orientation in the Print dialog, grayscale images are printed "lighter" than what they shall be, as if something had increased the lightness of the grayscale image.
Can you guess the cause for this strange behavior? Can it be a bug of the Java2D Printing API?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't get Landscape printing aligned correctly...

I'm new to Java and this forum, so any help with the following would be greatly appreciated:
Description: Incorrect height alignment when printing Landscape.
Hardware: Power Macintosh 8500/120, 48MB RAM.
Brother HL-1650 Laser Printer, 8MB RAM.
Software: Mac OS 8.6.
MRJ2.2 (JDK1.1.8), MRJSDK2.2, JFC/Swing1.1.1.
Procedure: 1) Compile BorderDemo.java (see source code below) with javac.
2) Run BorderDemo with JBindery.
3) Select "Landscape" printing, then select "Print".
Results: Incorrect alignment of GridLayout within BorderLayout's Center position.
The first printed row is incorrect. It is split with 6/8ths in row1, and 2/8ths
in the last row.
Expected: The BorderLayout's Center position should print 6 rows and 7 columns of
8 x 1 TextEdit field items (This is supposed to be a calendar). It should fill
the 8.5 x 11 piece of paper in Landscape print mode.
Note: It correctly displays on the computer monitor.
I've tried lots of combinations of GridLayout, BorderLayout, and BoxLayout, but
I can't get it to print correctly in Landscape. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

how do you submit the lines, with the lines-Statement or the underline? Which printer? If it is a needle it might cause problems. What driver SWIN?

My computer defaults to landscape printing

Each time I try to print, my computer wants to default to the landscape printing. I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to change that setting...among a couple others. Can somone help me out and let me know how you change default printer setting on my MacBook Pro?

To change the default Print orientation for Safari (and Preview, Mail, ...)
1) start TextEdit, or another Apple app that has a "page setup" dialog in the "File" menu
2) pull down the "File" menu, and open the "page setup" dialog box
3) change "Orientation" to the one you want as default, example: "portrait"
4) select "Save as default" in the above "Settings" pop-up menu
5) select "any printer" in the "Format For" pop-up menu (of course, if you want make the change for all your printers)
6) click OK and quit TextEdit
7) quit (if not done yet) and restart the other Apple apps (Safari, Preview ....)
The default orientation should have changed into the one you have selected and "saved as default" in the TextEdit dialog.
This has properly worked for me. Good luck.

Printing using dot matrix printer,problem with landscape printing

We are planning to use Dot matrix printers for printing through SAP.We do front end printing using Windows OS. I am able to get prints properly if it is a script form. In case of list outputs, printer is printing the text outside the paper.Only half of the text is printing on the continuous stationary. Actually document is to be printed in Landscape format. So printer should print data vertically on the paper,but it's printing horizontally. I have created sparate output device for this printer.My printer is TVS Electronics HD745 24 Pin heavy duty printer. I have assigned OKI341 as device type for this device.Any more settings I need to do to get printing in landscape mode?
