VerticalGrid issues in MII 12.1

Hi,
Like to know if anyone has used VerticalGrid in MII 12.1? It seems the behavior of this sub-type of iGrid has been changed significantly in MII 12.1. First of all even if some of the column widths are specified as 0, then also those columns are visible in the applet. So it seems virtually impossible to have hidden columns in verticalgrid now. Also even if Show Header property (under Header configuration) has been unchecked then also the header is displayed as the leftmost column. If multiple columns are assigned to the grid in Layout with some of them as 0 width, only one row (column in VerticalGrid) is being displayed. Lastly and most importantly, the SELECTIONEVENT on this type of iGrid is not working though Row and Cell selection properties are enabled. All these things used to work properly in MII 12.0. Like to clarify whether anyone encountered the same and whether these are bugs or new features with different configuration (though apparently it seems not). I am using MII 12.1 SP08 (latest SP  and patch).
Any pointer to these will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dipankar

Hi Shaji,
please have a look at [your thread|Configuring IDOCListener on MII 12.1 server; and open the URL to document [How to send IDoc from SAP ECC to MII IDoc Listener 12.1|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/a02bc706-15f2-2c10-1aab-a1927ada11f0].  The gateway host and gateway server is entered in SAP tran SM59 (see page 7).

  • Date Filter issues in MII Messaging

    Hi all,
We have an issue on a newly commissioned MII server (12.1.5 build 99; Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008) whereby date filters (From Date; To Date) are set to the incorrect format in the MII Message Monitor query form.  The filters default to M D Y format and we require D M Y format. Date is stored correctly in the db table.
    Where is this configuration set?
In addition to this I note that there numerous warning entries in the MII log of the type '** MISSING RESOURCE: Unable to localize ,< object name>'* where object name seems to be referring to a number of date/time type ojects (eg XCOL_MON, XSLT_TODAY,XLST_DECEMBER etc etc).  This seems related to the first problem, if only in problem domain. How do we address this?

    Thanks Mike,
I have been through almost the entire Netweaver Admin cockpit, including the UME, and again with an experienced NW admin but cannot locate where these defaults are set.
Can you point me to where this is configured, please?

  • Content Deployment Issues with MII 12.0

    Hi everyone,
Our customer's on 12.0.6 (build 12). Recently we moved certain changes to production and since then we've been looking at a strange behavior where in, for ex. , if you open up one instance(on the browser) of the Production you still are looking at the older content while another instance reflects the changes.
We also made some changes to the Navigation which is reflected in both the instances.
We tried to check if the browser is caching pages (we carried out the tests on both IE6 as well as 7) but that does not seem to be the problem.
In my earlier experience this issue was in a clustered environment (MII on multiple JVMs) but I understand this was fixed with 12.0.3 onwards.
If anyone has some pointers , it'll be greatly appreciated.
We haven't tried a restart of the App yet , just wanted to check if we are missing anything.
    Thanks

When I have unchecked the Cell Selection property the SELECTIONEVENT is working but the whole column is selected where as it should be selected as a cell individually.
But in 12.0 it is working fine.
I have tried to solve the problem through javascript but still not reach to any solution.

  • Problem during summer time switch with all date functions

    Hello,
During the summertime switch, we faced some issues in MII (12.1.9 Build(116)).
We are receiving the date/time in GMT XML format from our shop floor system.
I noticed when the date/time is between 02:00 and 03:00, all date functions are not working in expression editor (like in assign block).
For example : datefromxmlformat("2014-03-30T02:00:01","yyyyMMdd HHmmss") will return nothing... Even adding the Z to tell it's UTC does not help :
    datefromxmlformat("2014-03-30T02:00:01Z","yyyyMMdd HHmmss"), but no success...
Even worst, the expression dateaddminutes("2014-03-30T02:00:01","10") will lead to a conversion exception...
Is there a solution to this ?
    Thanks

  • SAP MII function issue in SAP MII 14.0

    Hi,
Currently I was working on some content up gradation work in SAP MII 14.0 , but while working, I have got a strange think regarding SAP MII Functions. We have developed the same code in SAP MII 12.2 and faced the issue while migrating to 14.0. The issue is as follows,
The function we have used in 12.2 is getvalue(name) as in the below screenshot,
but while we have migrated to 14.0, then we saw the function has updated into getvalue(map, key) in 14.0
I have no idea why parameter of the existing function got updated, but the problem is if someone want to migrate the existing code from 12.2 to 14.0 using such of function then he/she can get a "Conversion Exception" and at that time it will become bit hectic to identify the issue and change the logic to handle this in all the places.
    Regards,
    Suman

    Hello Suman,
I guess it is a bug in MII 14.0. The help doc has the getValue(name) still. However, the newer function is not present in the same. I guess it was not documented. I guess, the getValue(map, name) is a newer function which somehow replaced the older one.
I would suggest you to raise a support ticket. According to me, the getValue(name) and getValue(map, name), both should exist.

  • Performance issue with custom IDOC download into SAP MII

    Hi,
We have a custom IDOC which has ten fields. We take the data from these ten fields and insert into database. The issue is
we have some where around 4500 idocs flowing into SAP MII and then from SAP MII to sql database. The time taken for these idocs is around 30 mins.
Is there a way where we can improve the performance in terms of time taken?
    Additional information is
MaxReaderThreadCount has been set to 5 in Configuration Management -> Infrastructure -> Application Resources
    sample idoc structure
    <IDOCNAME>
      <FIELD1>val1</FIELD1>
    <FIELD10>val2</FIELD10>
    </IDOCNAME>
Please let us know if more information is needed.
    Regards,
    Manish Jain

    Hi Manish,
My thinking about the queuing is that for each transaction, you are calling your database and passing in the IDoc content.  Depending upon your system, database, transactions, etc., you may be having to establish a connection between MII and the database each time you process an IDoc.  Each "handshake" takes a finite amount of time.  So queuing up the IDocs, establishing a single DB connection and processing large numbers of IDocs in a batch might reduce your processing time substantially.  Something worth investigating.
I don't think that adding additional IDoc Listeners for different IDoc types will work if the source ECC system is the same for each type.  It will simply use the first one it finds and process all the types there.
Additional threads may improve performance and is certainly a low risk, easily implemented test.  Just do it in small increments as you can add too many threads (check with the NW administrator) and lock up your NW system.
And you may want to check with your DBA to see if there are limits on the connections which MII can establish for uploading the IDoc content (or for that matter, any other improvements to be made on the DB side).

    Mike

  • Issue with passing param's from ME POD to MII.

I have an interesting issue.   I have a customer with POD screen in ME that has a command button to open an MII screen.   The POD screen has the workstation ID in the URL.  The MII screen needs that workstation id.    Normally I would use window.opener.location.href in javascript but Iu2019m getting a "permission denied" from IE.   So IE thinks this is a cross domain call.  Although the POD and MII pages are on different machines, they are on the same domain.
    POD url example:  (parent page)
    http://MEmachine.mydomain.com:52600/manufacturing/com/sapdev/jsp/activity/pod/PODMain.jsp?WORKSTATION=TEST_POD&OPERATION=WA_123_L&RESOURCE=WA_123_L&ACTIVITY_ID=STATION1
    MII url example: (pop up)
    http://MIImachine.mydomain.com:55500/XMII/CM/Scrap/ScrapApplet.irpt?service=Personalization&j_user=MyUser&j_password=Mypassword
My suspicion is that although the two machines are on the same domain, the fact that they are on different ports is causing IE to think itu2019s a cross domain scripting call and forbidding it.
The obvious workround would be to just send the workstation name as part of the opening url call, however Iu2019m not sure if the customer will be able to do that for each workstation.
    Thoughts?

Below is an example of passing All(NULL), Single and Multi values using Oracle DB (I think you are on Teradata, so use equivalent syntax)
where (columnxxx in (:parameter) or least(:parameter) is null)
    Here:
columnxxx in (:parameter) will take care passing single and multi-select
least(:parameter) is null will take care when ALL is selected (assuming you have chosen "Pass NULL" for ALL)

  • Issues with Query Caching in MII

    Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem with Query caching in MII query. Have created one xacute query and set cache duration 30 sec. The associated BLS with the query retrieves data from SAP system. In the web page this value is populated by executing an iCommand. Followings are the steps I followed -
Query executed for first time, it retrives data from SAP correctly. Lets say value is val1
At 10th sec Value in SAP changed to val2 from val1.
Query excuted at 15th sec, it gives value as val1. Which is expected as it gives from cache.
Query is executed 1t 35th sec, it gives value as val2 retriving from SAP system. Which is correct.
Query executed at 40th sec, it gives value as val1 from cache. Which is not expected.
I have tried with java cache clear in browser and JCo cache of the server.
Same problem I have seen for tag query also..
    MII Version - 12.0.6 Build(12)
    Any thoughts on this.
    Thanks,
    Soumen

    Soumen Mondal,
If you are facing this problem from the same client PC and in the same session, it's very strange.. but if there are two sessions running on the same PC this kind of issue may come..
    Something about caching:
To decide whether to cache a query or not, consider the number of times you intend to run the query in a minute. For data changing in seconds, and queried in minutes, I would recommend not to cache query at all.
I may give a typical example for query caching in a query on material master cached for 24 hours, where we know that after creating material master, we are not creating a PO on the same day.

  • Java Cache Issue on SAP MII 12.1 SP09 (Build 116)

    Hi All,
Has anybody experienced this issue before?
    Problem Description
This installation is a central MII instance, which is HP hosted in Swindon, UK. On Login we are experiencing a delay in loading the Java Applets, i.e. iGrids, iCharts, iCommands etc. After the first screen load the performance improves. When we close the session and re-enter, the performance on the first screen is delayed.
    Problem Investigation
We have compared this project to other MII instances and investigated the cache loading of each of the MII installations. What we have noticed is that the Java is not being cached on the client side for the MII server V12.1 SP09 (Build 116). We had three MII servers, with this version, and we are experiencing the same issue. We have other instances of version 12.1.7, 12.1.8, and 12.2.0 and the cache functionality is working fine.
To view the cache we are opening the Java Cache viewer on the Java Control Panel, and we are looking for the file u201Cillum8.zipu201D which is the MII Java library. This investigation was done using the same Client Java Runtime version and IE Version.
Software Versions used: JavaRuntime version: 1.0.6_22 & Internet Explorer 8.0
    Any advice/help much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Henry

    Hi Henry,
Not sure this has any bearing, but what NW version and SP is MII sitting on top of?

  • SAP MII workbench - saving new transaction - role issue?

We are using MII 12.1.4 (build 53) and have copied the SAP java roles to our own groups (ABAP Roles) in the UME, including the defined actions of the SAP roles.  We then assign the ABAP role in ABAP to the User, so that in the UME they now have the groups assigned.
We have run into an issue where when creating a new transaction in the MII workbench we are unable to save it.  If we add the standard SAP UME role SAP_XMII_DEVELOPER, we are now able to create and save the transaction (or whatever work).  The only difference we can see in the SAP_XMII_DEVELOPER role and our copied role is the name, all the actions in SAP_XMII_DEVELOPER are in our Group (ABAP role).
our ABAP role (UME Group) example is:
ZZZZ:Z_MII_DEVELOPER (has UME role AD_JU_MII_DEVELOPER assigned)
    UME Roles:
Z_MII_DEVELOPER has the 3 actions below assigned:
         xappsxmiiumeactions     XMII_User
         xappsxmiiumeactions     XMII_Read_Only
         xappsxmiiumeactions     XMII_Developer
SAP_XMII_DEVELOPER has the same 3 actions as above, and the onluy difference is the description, and that it doesn't have any assigned groups.
Does the MII workbench use the hardcoded role names somewhere that would not allow us to use  our the ABAP roles (JAVA groups) or is there something else we are missing in the group?
I have searched the best practices, forums, SAP help, OSS, etc. with no luck
    Thanks for any help,
    jake

    Hi Jake,
I also faced the same problem recently.
As Mike said, you need to add your role in " Transaction -> Security". Here, you will find all the available roles. Put the required role in Reader and Writer Roles windows.
As far as your question is concerned, by default MII assigns XMII Administrators, XMII Developers and XMII Users roles (MII 12.0) as Reader to Transaction. Where as MII assigns XMII Administrators and XMII Developers roles as Writer to Transaction.
    Hope this helps!

  • MII Security Issues

    Hi,
I am having issues with security on my MII systems.  I am wondering how many levels of security there are on MII projects.  I know that there is the user level security.  I have Admin, Developer, and User roles on the system via ABAP/UME.  I have checked the actions of each of the roles have the following assigned:  XMII_Full_Access, XMII_Developer, XMII_User, and XMII_Read_Only.
I know that there is transactional security.  But what levels does the transactional security apply to?  Does transactional security apply to project level, a specific folder level, or just individual transactions?
I have heard about template security, but have not found out how to change/modify this.  Help here would be appreciated.
Are there any other security levels that I haven't mentioned above?
The reason that I am asking these questions is that I am seeing the error '<user> is not assigned to a role that can perform this action' much too often.  As I mentioned above I should have full access on MII though my admin role.  I also guess some of my problems have to do with the fact that we aren't assigning the default roles to our users, but instead get permissions through abap roles and ume.  Therefore is there a way to change the default roles that are assigned to transactional security so it doesn't have to be changed every time?
Having Admin (full access) abilities on MII, is there a way to change transactional security on objects that I can't open?  (I'm guessing my roles aren't in the read/write transactional security for the object)
I am currently working on a system that uses MII 12.1.8.28.
I have tried searching through the SDN for this information, but haven't found anything that answers my questions.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm new to MII so sorry if this was a simple question.  Just trying to get a better understanding of how security is handled.
    Justin

Actions are suitable for granular control of features and specific user 'actions', but were first introduced along with NW's UME in 12.1.  Prior to this the MII related Services were secured by Role(s), just like you can still see with Data Server permissions.
Everything was Role based, which is also why the templates and the customer base would have evidenced in their applications.  Actions were introduced to provide you R/W/D granularity, where previously you were either a Developer/Admin or basic User and if you wanted to provide access to the WB or one of the Admin menu screens it was full access.
The mandate for assignement to the base Users role will give you the blanket level of capability needed to exist in the MII world, but if you want to further restrict actions you still have the option.
