Very awkward BIS issue

Hello there. I'm posting here because in my opinion is the last thing I have left to do.
Not sure if there's any short story of this but I'll try to keep it that way.
Since this afternoon BIS isn't registering my phone anymore. It says "edge" insead of "EDGE". My BIS data plan was activated like 2 days ago and worked just fine untill now.
I called at support from my local operator, they've sent me the service books like twice and obviously I did the basics before testing it (taking off battery). Nothing happend. Called 3rd time, they've told me it has nothing to do with them anymore cause that's all they can do.
The real awkward thing is that, the instant I connect to my personal WIFI, bberry email, bbm, whatsapp, yahoo messenger, browsing, absolutely everything, works AS IT SHOULD work on BIS. The second I disconnect from my wifi, there's no more internet on it. No more BBM, no more nothing.
I even tried a wipe. That didn't worked either.
To be honest this is kind of my last hope before throwing it from 10th floor, because this is **bleep** me off.
LE: After wipe "the trick" with connecting to my wifi doesn't work anymore since all service books are gone. Trying to register again doesn't work either, as was I saying.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

You are on the right track...contact the Spain carrier and make sure 100% that they have closed that BIS account and released the PIN from their BIS system. Then contact the Romania carrier to see about getting full BIS services from them.
Fortunately, according to the Orange Romania official BB OS download site, they (Orange Romania) fully support your specific model of BB...which will help avoid a whole different headache that could have otherwise come about!
FYI...if/when you return to Spain, you will have to do this all over again, but in the other direction (release PIN from Romania, assign back to Spain).
Good luck and let us know!

• A very urgent deployment issue about DBAdapter

Hello All,
I have a very urgent deployment issue about DBAdapter.
That DBAdapter is connect to DB2 AS400 Database. I have a developing database (jdbc:as400://server01/TEST) and a production database (jdbc:as400://server01/PROD).
During developing, I used DBAdapter wizard to create it, and import some tables, and set the Adapter to use jabc/DB2DS as connection information for easily deployment later.
Then I deploy to Production. I configured Data-source.xml and oc4j-ra.xml rightly; I set DB connection point to production database. But the DBAdapter still write into developing Database.
I checked the DBAdapter, the imported tables are something like this, TEST.table1, TEST.table2. And there are a lot "TEST" located in DB2Writer_toplink_mapping.xml, DB2Writer.xml, TEST.schema, DB2Writer.table1.ClassDescriptor.xml.
This TEST is refrer to the TEST in connect String jdbc:as400://server01/TEST.
I think this might be the reason cause the problem. As to production database, "TEST" should replaced by "PROD". If I changed it manually, I have to change every time when switch between TEST and PROD. And I also don't know if it is safe to do it? (I tried, and bring some toplink mapping problem)
By the way, for Oracle Database, because we use 2 instances for testing and production with same schema name, and do not have this issue.
Anyone could help and many thanks.

Hi Kerr,
The idea is to set up all connections in the BPEL or ESB services with logical names, e.g. typically of the form eis/DB/MyFinancialSystem or eis/DB/MyLogisticsSystem. This way, you do not have to modify code when deploying it onto different environments that serve different purposes.
When moving your services through their lifecyle, on every environment you deploy these to you will have the same logical connections configured on each instance, e.g. for DEV, QA, SIT, UAT and PROD. Only, in case of QA the actual physical connection is configured to point to the QA instance of the systems that your services interact with whereas in case of UAT it points to the UAT instance of the same system.
Maybe your problem is caused by connecting as user "SomeUser" when running the DB Adapter wizard during development and actually selecting objects from a different schema than you used to connect with, e.g. "Test" in your case.

I have a 4s runing 6.1.1 every 5minutes it promp me network lost and i have very bad battery issues lit draine so fast what should i do?

What have you figured out? Anything? What you show just shows a pretty quiet system except for firefox having a bunch of tabs open. You've got some page ins and outs so you maybe your'e hitting your HD with swap files more than what you think?
I think something like coconut battery app or something like it will tell you the charge cycles on the battery. How many do you have?
Lastly, are you using any extensions like ad blocker, or click to flash?

• HT204380 My FaceTime calls a stranger. Very awkward

If you are using Facetime to call a friend and a total stranger picks up it maybe because you have an old number still in their contact info.
For instance, ever since I updated my Iphone with the new OS and called my sister using "Facetime" if she did not answer some person that I did not know would answer. It was very AWKWARD! Thank god the person was nice and she informed me that she's been receiving Facetime calls from me for over 2 months.
I figured out that I had an old number of my sisters in her contact info on my iPhone. So, whenever I would select "Facetime" to call my sister it would facetime all the numbers and emails that I had for her. One of the numbers I had was an old car phone number of hers. And because I selected "facetime" to call my sister it calls all the info i have for her. Sometimes when I "Factime" my sister she would answer using either her iphone, ipad or Mac computer because Facetime uses all phone numbers and email address you have for that person. That is why whenever my sister did not answer my factime call that total stranger would pick up.
So, if you are having the same problem be sure that the info of the person you are trying to Facetime is up to date and delete all phone numbers and email addresses they are no longer using.

Yes you can, go to Settings > Facetime and add an additional address.

• Apple TV (2nd gen) - Very Specific Buffering Issue

I have been watching the threads regularly for a situation similar to mine but I can't see one so I am starting a new one.
I have Four (4) Apple TVs in the house and a large library of movies, TV shows and personal movies loaded into iTunes on a Window 7 64 bit system with an Intel i7 processor, 12 GB of memory and 2TB of disk space. Everything seemed to work OK until I got the third Apple TV but that was a year ago and several software upgrades in the past.
My problem is that when all four (4) Apple TVs are plugged into power, even if the ones I am not using are asleep, I have horrible buffering delays when watching vidoes from iTunes on the Windows PC. I do not have any trouble streaming video from Netflix or the iTunes store directly. When the Apple TV stops to fill buffers it seems to lock up trying and never comes back (I have waited up to 30 minutes). However, if I exit out of the movie as soon as the buffering issue starts, and go back into the video where I left off - it starts playing again within 3 seconds and will carry on for another random period of time in the range of 2 minutes to 10 minutes.
Before anyone starts responding with the basic stock suggestions, I am a retired IT guy who has put a lot of time and technical effort into trying to find the root cause of this problem. I am very familiar with networking, Windows 7, firewalls, etc.
The work around is that when I want to watch videos from iTunes on my Windows PC I have to unplug the other three Apple TVs, restart my router and reboot my Windows PC. These three steps together work consistently but omitting any one step may or may not improve the situation. This means that I can't just decide to watch a video from iTunes without 10 minutes of advance prep work - and watching two different videos on two different Apple TVs at the same time only works about 30% of the time.
Here is some more background information:
I have two (2) iPhones, one (1) iPad, another Windows 7 64 bit PC, a MacBook Air, and stand alone Internet radio on my network. The problem persists even when all the other devices have been powered off.
All devices, including the Apple TVs, are running the most current version of software and have ALL patches installed.
I have upgraded my router (twice) and now have an ASUS RT-N56U dual band router with the Windows PCs both cable connected and the Apple TVs and all the other stuff running wireless.
I have used netstumbler to detect other networks and have tried various different channels on the router. I am in a low density area and only see two other neighbours with wireless networks.
I have a 20 MB Internet service connection via cable modem and have no problems watching videos on the Apple TVs from the Internet
I have relocated the router away from any other elecrical equipment (Apple TVs all show a full strength signal)
I have tried disabling my MacAfee Security Center virus and personal firewall software (the problem persists), then removing it entirely (the problem persists), then reinstalling only the virus protection component and enabling Windows Firewall (the problem persists).
I have removed all software from the Windows computer that brand name commercial software - I use Microsoft Office 2010 and Google Chrome as my browser (the problem persists).
Important - I have moved the complete iTunes library to a 2TB USB hard drive and run iTunes on my MacBook Air with the Windows PCs turned off (the problem persists).
There is one issue that seems relevant, but might just be a bug in the router management interface. I have set up reserved DHCP addresses for the Apple TVs and the computers to make it easier to identify devices when I am troubleshooting. The DHCP log shows the correct IP addresses being assigned to the correct MAC addresses but the network map screen frequently displays two or more Apple TVs with duplicate MAC addresses. It only happens with the Apple TVs and has never happened with anything else. This is what gave me the idea to turn off all Apple TVs except the one I want to watch and reset the router to clear the other addresses - which seems to be the only consistent way to watch an iTunes video without buffering problems.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have invested a lot of time and money in Apple technologies and setting up this home video strategy. It's very frustrating that it doesn't work reliably.
Thanks
Bob T

I too am having this issue were two of my Apple TVs are showing duplicate MAC Addresses. I have varrified this by looking at the arp -a cache on multiple machines. I believe this is a major bug in the Apple TV software. Can we please get a fix.

• Very odd Airport issue airport has a mind of its own...

Ok so hopefully I have gotten your attention. As of 3 days ago my Macbook Pro (which has always connected to the internet through my Airport Extreme with the signal boosted by an Airport Express) so I am online reading email when I attempt to open a new page and my internet dies. I look at my other computer (Macbook not pro) sitting next to me and it is connected to the network just fine. So I go to connect to the internet again and I can see my network and yet every time I try to connect I get a message saying "error couldnt connect" or something similar to that. Then I went to make sure my settings werent changed and they weren't. So I ran a diagnostic to make sure that nothing was wrong settings-wise. And when I get to the step where I need to choose the network I want to connect to it asks for my password (been using same one for years) and I input it and it tells me the password is incorrect. Then I try it again, and again im told the password is incorrect, no caps are on im spelling it right, basically I am faultless. Then after a number of restarts and frustrated hours, out of nowhere it connects again.
So then two nights ago I am online I pick up my laptop from my bed and walk to the room next door and start to use my computer in the next room to show a friend something. I walk back into my room with the laptop and 8 minutes later the same internet issue occurs again. I try everything, the password isnt accepted anymore and then a couple of hours later it works.
So then tonight I am writing a paper and the same stupid thing happens again. This time after 3 restarts I get back online but it is still very very frustrating and I have no clue what is wrong
If anyone has any advice PLEASE im all ears

Welcome to the discussions!
The fact that things improved a bit with Interference Robustness is probably a major clue that you are experiencing wireless interference issues at your new location.
The most common cause of interference problems in a home are cordless phones, which typically operate at the same frequency as wireless networks. You need to power off the phones and their base stations / cradles for a few hours to see if you notice any improvement in the performance of your wireless network. If you do, you need to try different positions for the phones.
Please post back on your findings to take the next possible steps in identifying the probable interference issue there.

• Emails sent from device not show in "Sent Box" and "BIS" issue

Dear All and Rim:
New to BB world, needed following help...
AOL mail box had connect with "Tour" successfully, service provided by Verizon.
Mails sent from device are not show in AOL "Sent Box" nor Outlook Express's "IMAP" / "POP" server's Outgoing "SMTP" folder.
Truly need copies to "Sent Box", Thanks for help!!
Also try to set up "BIS" accout, error message said:

Thanks you,
Jan
Solved!
Go to Solution.

So for the mail issue seems sending myself a copy is the only way to go, right?
That would be a solution.
And about the BIS, my try was on a PC, it didnt work... Anyway, i was going to log on to the BIS to work on my issue above, but seems it doesnt help now, so it doesnt matter if i can sign up or not.
Well, that's entirely odd...I just used that link myself (from a PC) and get into my BIS account just fine. You can, however, use the device interface to BIS -- watch that demo I provided you above for instructions on that. BIS is merely a service, provided by your carrier. The PC/website method and the device interface -- those are simply two different interfaces into the same service, so using one or the other doesn't matter...they result in the same thing.
Good luck!

• Very urgent Decimal issue in ADF page

Hello friends,
i have an issue in ADF page which was weight field, issue has below.
1) weight filed was validated that without entering 5 digit value in filed, example suppose i enter 12345 in weight it is showing that in small dialog box -weight value should be 0 to 9999.999 only. but it is let me to go next field and submit button. it is happening only in create page only.
2)but when i go to detail page , same weight fild is populated there - i enter invalid weight something 12345, it is showing that in small dialog box -weight value should be 0 to 9999.999 only. but here let me not go to another filed until i ENTER valid value.
create page weight filed need to work same as detail page.i am new to ADF development, how to check where this validation done and how to fix this.
very very urgent.
Thanks,
vamshi.

If you use ADF BC, open the entity and choose "Business Rules". You can then add validation rules such as range limits under the attributes. It is usually best practice to include validation rules in the entity (model layer), this way they apply automatically to all view objects based on the entity and you are guaranteed to have only valid values in the database. (View layer validation may have its place as a convenience supplement.)
Read more about business rules in the developer's guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/bcvalidation.htm

• Help: Very simple HTTPService issue

I have created very simple test :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute"
width="100%" height="100%">
<mx:Script><![CDATA[
import mx.rpc.http.HTTPService;
[Bindable]
public var srv:HTTPService;
]]></mx:Script>
<mx:Label text="Is it working?" />
</mx:Application>
This application is rendered by tomcat here :
http://jc.studiogdo.com (you can
test)
As the HTTPService is declared, you can see that nothing is
rendered!!!! On a local machine (tomcat running on my localhost)
then it works on IE. On real server like this example nothing
works!!! Of course without declaring the HTTPService everything
works... I've created this example with Flex Builder2 on eclipse
useProxy is false, so no need for a crossdomain.xml... Where
is the error????
Many thanks for help..

The issue is that : declaring the HTTPService stops the
player (even if the play parameter is set to true for the embed
object) when the application is served from a tomcat server (not a
local file), so it works only if I forces (right menu) the play
menu item.
What happens :
On a local file : FF and IE accepts to autoplay the
application
On a local tomcat (localhost url) : FF refuses to auto play,
IE accepts.
On a real distant tomcat server : FF and IE refuses to
autoplay
I think this is for security reason? But how to force the
play parameter to be used anyway... (I repeat to be sure
understanding : the simple HTTPService declaration changes the way
the play parameter is evaluated..)

• Very strange screen issue

my display will turn off VERY rarely, for about 6 seconds, then come back on for no apparent reason. the computer will still be running, music playing, etc...It has happened 4 times in the past week and a half, two times it was more like 5 minutes

I do not have a solution, but you should at least try using "Chicken" (formally Chicken of the VNC)
Chicken (free)
<http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/36208/chicken>
The issues I'm read about in the past with the screen not displaying correctly often had to do with either the color depth being different between the client and the server, but since the same Macs are involved both remotely and locally, I would discount that. And the other thing I've read is 64-bit Screen Sharing client vs 32-bit Screen Sharing server, but again, the same Macs are involved both locally and remotely so there is not change.
Try Chicken

• Very Strange Touchscreen Issue

I recieved and activated my new 8GB iPhone about two days ago and it worked great up until just a few hours ago. I am experiencing the known issue of the bottom 1/2 inch or so of the touchscreen not responding to my touch, which in turn is affecting a lot of main elements of the phone such as SMS, e-mail, iPod, etc. Among that issue, I also encountered a very strange occurrence whilst I was testing the 'dead zone' on my iPhone: Certain sections of the dead zone work if I hover my finger about 2 -3 centimeters from the screen. It is a very strange thing but true, lol. I can even capture video footage of this if it's necessary.
Since I bought my iPhone from an AT&T store, should I return it to them for a new one on the spot or should I do it through Apple? I hope it doesn't come down to the latter since I do not live anywhere near an Apple Store (New Orleans, LA) and I just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T so I'd really hate to purchase a cheap temporary phone while my iPhone is being replaced/fixed.
Edit: Have a Merry Christmas, everyone!
Message was edited by: Fiyerstorm

I just talked to Apple Support and they are going to repair it for me, it's just I need to wait til Friday since I am broke from Christmas! Once I get paid, then I can dish out the 30 dollars to get a rental iPhone to hold me over. The restore temporarily fixed the touchscreen issue since it happened again hours later.
Also, nobody I know who would have a spare AT&T phone doesn't come to mind so I can't just borrow a phone and start the repair process now, but the wait isn't too bad. At least they do not limit the iPhone rental to just physical Apple Store customers!
Thanks for the help, folks. :V

• Very weird dhcp issue

We've started 're-vlanning' our main location here, breaking up depts
into their own vlans.
All seems ok so far, aside from a real doozy.
For the IT vlan, we have one address that will not talk to our web
content mgmt appliance. It's the 2nd address in our assignable pool,
and it doesn't matter if it's dhcp or statically assigned, that address
will not talk to that device.
That is the *only* device that cannot be reached from this particular
address in our dept vlan, every other one works fine.
Any ideas on this?

So.... the title of this thread should actually be 'Very weird non-DHCP
issue', since your own testing confirms this has nothing to do with DHCP?
If you do a LAN trace on this machine as well as your web content
management appliance do you see packets on either side? Both sides? If
not on both sides but you do on the source (workstation) side see
packets going out, then get LAN traces after each network device
(switch, router, firewall, etc.) to see when the packets disappear.
Feel free to post the LAN traces somewhere with descriptions of IPs,
ports, and what you should be seeing, if you want to post them somewhere
for review.
Good luck.

• Very strange rendering issue

Hi--
I have some really bad footage that I've had to use several filters on, to make look even readable. Anyway, when I make my adjustments, the viewer looks as I'd like it to be. But when I render, I'm getting all these strange pixelated green blotches all over the picture. When I make any adjustment to any filter for the clip, causing the clip to require rendering again, it reverts back to it's normal appearance, without blotches or oddities. When I render the clip -- it returns to it's blotchy state.
I'm using High precision YUV and Super-White for the sequence, Unlimited RT, High quality playback, Full playback frame rate in the timeline.
Has anyone else seen this -- or know if this will transfer to my final output to DVD, or is just a playback issue within FCP?
Thanks
All My Best,
Jeffrey

You'd only see the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit as banding on very soft monochromatic gradients. And FCP's 10bit renderer is buggy. All the national spots I do are in 8bit... As to the superwhite - only important if you have some gfx that use superwhite for keying, thus must be adjusted. Probably not the situation in your case...
So don't use 10 bit or superwhite. They won't help you get better quality and are the source of the problems you're seeing...

• Very Frustrating AirTunes Issue

I have three Airport Express units on an Airport network, each with an assigned ip address. My wife's 1.8 GHz Intel iMac streams music flawlessly to all the AEx units, and her playlists play back without any hitches.
My 8-core 3.0 Ghz MacPro, OTOH, cannot play any music over this setup without frequent 2-4 second pauses. It is unlistenable.
My Mac Pro is much closer to the target AEx than the iMac, so it isn't a signal strength issue.
Does anyone have a similar problem, pr a suggestion for a fix?

Yup, I have the same thing going on as we speak. Very annoying, and I don't know what's causing it. At first I thought it might be some radar or other sweep by ships out to sea (I look out on the Pacific) as it was regular in intermission, but it seems to be going on for longer than a few days ago.
any ideas?

• Very strange headphone issue

G'day everyone.
Yesterday I received a brand new iPhone 4 and today, after syncing all my music, I noticed a strange problem when listening through any earphones. When the music is playing at low volume it is very muffled, though when the volume is turned up close to full, the audio seems to jump into a state of clarity where it suddenly sounds normal.
I was on the phone to apple about this problem and whilst I was on hold I decided to plug in my headphones to see if they worked for calls... they did, so I decided to test further and see if my music was working... it was, but as soon as I hung up from the call and tried the music again it went back to being muffled until the volume was turned to full. Apple suggested a hard reset which did not help, any other ideas?
Cheers.
