Very Basic Photo Organizing/Printing File Information?

I have a Gateway Computer, XP Home, Photoshop Elements 1. Is there any way, with what I've got, to copy the "Properties" Summary information for each photo to a paper list? For example, I have 50 photos, each photo would be listed and it's Summary information after, on this ongoing condensed list which could be copied to paper. I also have Nikon View. Is there anyway I could copy the IPTC info for each picture to an ongoing paper list? If not, could Elements 3 or 4 Photo Organizer do this? Could Adobe Photoshop Album do it? (Sorry for this second question.) I'm also not familiar with how these organizing programs work in general: You can save image files, of all the photos on your hard drive to these programs? The program can then generate thumbnails of all these pictures? You can then record and save individual photo information for each picture to the program? I could then delete all the image files (saving their thumbnail copies) from the organizing program to save on space? (I could then save all my image files on hard drive to CD then delete them to save space.) Then let's say you wanted to see all of the Halloween Pumpkin photos you had ever taken. By using keywords, or tags, or something like this you can tell the program to bring up all these pumpkin photo thumbnails and their adjoining information? So you would know on which CD to find the exact pumpkin photo you wanted. Thank you so much for your help. Thank You

If you delete from your hard drive, you have lost your images. This question doesn't make much sense to me. You can move images onto a CD/DVD and just keep a proxy on the hard drive.
BTW, personally, I don't want the bother or unreliability of optical media on an everyday basis. Hard drives are dirt cheap and tend to be very reliable and are much more convenient.

What I am struggling to understand, that any particular inbound file adapter is already associated with one particular Sender Agreement and the message header picks up Sender System Name and Sender Interface name etc from this Sender Agreement (from CPA Cache), but then why the above settings are required for File Adapter ?

Just bought my first Mac. I have 1000s of photos on my PC, well organized into folders independent of any organizing software. I want to do the same on the Mac (i.e., ignore iPhoto) and use basic photo editor. Any suggestions?

I plan to copy everything to the Mac and maintain my "independent" collection rather than dump everything into the iPhoto library. Finally, yesterday I bought a WD My Book for Mac 3TB external HD.
First thing to do is repartition the drive into 1 new partition and reformat as OS X Extended (journaled). Some WD drives come with software that is not compatible with 10.9 and should not be used. Then follow r4kaufmann87's suggestions.

If you want to duplicate your Folder Tree in iPhoto:
Start at the bottom of the hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Album Heading in iPhoto. The pics will be imported and an Album of the same name created.
You can then create the Enclosing Folders in the iPhoto Window (File -> New Folder) and drag the Album to it. Folders can contain other Folders (Nested Folders) and Albums.
However, is your folder system date based? Then this form of organisation is a bit pointless in iPhoto when Smart Albums or the Calendar tool (Click on the wee magnifying glass in the Search Box) mean you can find the photos taken on any day, month or year at a click. With Smart Albums it's easy to find photos from specific range - say, June 3 to August 25, 2009 etc.
If your folder system is theme based - Xmas pics, Birthday pics etc, then you'll find Keywords are much more flexible, and can be used in conjunction with other criteria for making Smart Albums and searches.

Use File >> Save As
Choose a different file name so as not to overwrite the original and don't save any changes when closing the original.

When viewing a photo in full screen, how do I get the file information and data along the footer. How do i get that to go off? Preferences.....???

Photos on PDF file print in NEGATIVE

Twice in the past 2 weeks, creating PDF files from 2 different (Quark) documents, ALL THE (TIF) PHOTOS WERE PRINTING IN REVERSE (NEGATIVE)... On MY printer they were printing OK, but when sent to a 3rd party -- they keep printing reversed... Only the photos, not the whole page...
I use a script creating a PS file that converts to PDF via Distiller 7.0.
One incident was a full page ad, using Distiller's PDFX1a2001(1) (or maybe it was PDF/X-1a:2001, don't remember, is there a difference?)... The ad was published in the newspaper with all the photos in negative..... The pre-press guy at the newspaper couldn't figure it out...
The other was a newsletter, converted via Distiller's "Smallest File Size" --- the client called me this morning telling me all the photos show up reversed....
...This strange behavior is intermittent, it happened 2 weeks ago, and then today again, but none in-between and it never happened before.
I Google this issue, and noticed this has been mentioned in some forums in the past (even 2003), but no answers showing...
...Any idea would be greatly appreciated....

Very basic question... can Photoshop Elements 13 overwrite the original file?

You will need to check the Photoshop Elements for any particulars about that software.
For Photoshop, if I make changes and exit saving those changes, yes the original is overwritten.
Keep backups at all times and don't work off flash external drives. When people tell me their original 500 layer file got corrupted, and they didn't keep copies, I hate to tell them their weeks of work is down the bucket.
In Photoshop, we use Image > Duplicate to work on a copy if we don't want the original touched, or File > Save as... where we give the file a different name. We save image.psd as image1.psd and image.psd is closed. We then have a copy, "Image1" opened.

Printing problems with CS5 and Epson Photo R2880 printer

I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27. I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know! Thanks!

Getting very nice results with an R1800, Inkjetfly CIS, and Red River paper. The R1800 has never had Epson ink run through it and has no abnormal clogging problems. In fact, clogs are rare.
Getting near perfect matches to the monitor with both Colorvision and x-rite calibrating/profiling equipment. The printer stays on 24-7 so the only ink used, other than printing, is a periodic nozzle check. I am not alone in this, so blanket statements like the above are specious at best.
And no, I don't sell prints for big bux, so whether they are going to last a hundred years is not a concern. Besides, until someone is around long enough to verify those claims, the jury is out. I've got color prints from the wet days that are fading after 20+ years. Third party inks are not necessarily lower quality than OEM. One of the reasons for the development of high quality third party inks was the dissatisfaction of B&W and fine art printers with the OEM products.
Of course the cheap refilled/knockoff carts being hawked on ebay and the like are a different story.

Horizontal lines appear in photos when printed

I am having a problem with printing photos in an indesign document. When the photos, jpeg files, are placed in the document and printed, there are faint black lines running horizontally across the photos at one-half inch increments. These lines only run across the photos, not the rest of the document, and they do not appear when the photos are printed separate, i.e. not in an indesign document. What can be causing this? Is there some guide that I have accidentally turned on that could be causing this?

I bought Adobe elements 11 and have been trying to do a very basic animated gif with it.I came acroos some instructions about layering,etc but still cannot get it to work. All I want to do is add two of my school photos together so that one suddenly vanishes and the one appears.I am planning to put this on my blog.
The animation I want is the day time picture of teh school magically vanish and the night time picture appear.Can it be done with elements11(I wouldn't mind if someone can even do it for me so that I could deconstruct it later!).I have attached the two photos.Please remember ,my knowledge of phtoshop is abysmal and very very basic.My apologies for that.hence I might be need to be told like a 10-year old!

It’s not possible to fade between gif images but you could sandwich two layers with a black fill layer between them as I have done in this example.
Then use the menu:
File >> Save For Web
Choose gif as the file type, select animate, and set your timing in seconds with continuous loop if required.
Then Save.
PS the images are different sizes so I had to re-size the daylight image to make it the same as the night image.

Using a epson photo 2200 printer wirelessly

I have an Epson stylus Photo 2200 printer hooked up to my airport. When I go to print photo quality pictures and go to setting to pick the paper the Epson tools 4 unexpectedly quits. Thus leaving me with no choices in paper..... when I hard wired the printer with a USB it worked as it should.... is this a common problem with a work around or is this the way life is with this printer? Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

Anyone out there have an idea on how to solve an "Empty print file!" error?

I am trying print to a Lexmark C543 network printer from a PowerPC G5 (running 10.5.7). Prior to receiving the error message (Empty print file!) the print queue displays the following messages: “Looking for Lexmark C543” and then “The printer is now on-line”.
Now there is a twist, I can successfully print test pages, pdf files (only using Adobe Reader 9.1.2, not the Apple Preview application), and image files (only using Adobe Lightroom 2.4, not the Apple Preview application). If I try and print a webpage using Safari (4.0.1) or Word document using Word:MAC 2008 version 12.1.9 it will error out, unless I print it to a PDF and then reopen the file via Adobe Reader.
Here are the actions I have already tried, and didn’t work?
- Removed and installed printer (both via GUI and CUPS)
- Reset printer system
- Verify Disk (no problems found)
- Repaired Disk Permissions
- Removed/renamed all files I could find in Library and System relating to C543
- Downloaded and installed new driver
- Called Lexmark, “3rd Level support looked at the issue and the log and they concluded that it's a problem with the OS.”

Thank you for welcoming me to Apple Discussions as well as explaining what you saw in the log.
I downloaded and ran the 10.5.7 Combo updater, but unfortunately it did not resolve my empty print file error.
Print Therapy (version 6.0.5) you suggested (and I downloaded) looked very promising. Unfortunately it too did not resolve my empty print file error. I have included the Print Therapy log below in hopes it will shed more light on the problem. The Print Therapy log stated: "You may need to reinstall OS X to resolve your printing issues." I am assuming this is probably because of the three missing files/directories it found.
Please let me know what my next steps should be, and if I should reinstall Leopard. If I have to reinstall Leopard is it possible to just install on top of the existing version without loosing or destroying the files (documents, images, etc.) we created?

Export photos with their file name stamped on to them

I have finished sorting, selecting, cropping etc my photos. I now wish to export low res samples of them to CD so that customers can view the samples and order prints. I can add a watermark and perform the export, but I want to add (stamp) each photo's file name to the photo sample. This would make it easier for a computer 'challenged' person to correctly obtain the correct photo file names.

I've not seen that as an option in Aperture. I believe your best bet is to export and html document and add the file information as part of the html.

People who need to SCAN & PRINT without a compatible driver from their manufacturer can use Apple's very basic "PRINT & SCAN" utility in System Preferences:
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click System Preferences .
Click Print & Scan ( ).
Click Scan , and then click Open Scanner .
Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to modify scan settings such as output type.Figure 2: Example of the Show Details scanning screen
Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .
