I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • IPad Air running 8.2 - one of the two cameras shows very weird colors.

This started a couple weeks ago. The outward camera view shows very weird colors. I have looked on line for a solution and found a reference that said the 'live camera filter is stilled turned on' but I don't think live filters exist any more. ive tried everything I can think of. Attached is a screen shot when using the camera.
    TIA

Try the standard troubleshooting steps in this order:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
Restore: Connect your device to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.

  • IPhoto 6.0 slide shows looks very distorted

I have a new 19'' widescreen TFT monitor on my mini mac and now my iPhoto 6.0 slide shows looks very distorted.
This widescreen TFT have a 16:9 aspect ratio (1440x900 pixel).
I found no setting in iPhoto for the screen with an 16:9 aspect ratio. There are only format settings for 16:10, iDVD or act monitor. But no one works fine!
Is there any possibility that I can show my "slide shows" in the correct format? (Also with black bars)
Can anyone help me fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance

I am experiencing a very similar problem. Michael, have you solved your issue yet?
With my setup (PowerMac Dual G4 533 MHz with an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX graphics card, and Gateway FPD2185W monitor, native display resolution 1680 x 1050), iPhoto slideshows show pictures off center (taking up the right 2/3 of the display and leaving the left blank). The entire picture is also not visible. I'm sure it is switching resolutions when doing the slideshow since when I stop the show, some of my apps are in different positions on the display. I have tried switching stuff in the preferences, as well as trashing my old iPhoto prefs file. Nothing worked.
Thanks in advance for any insights!

  • Very distorted sound since iTunes 7 installed

I updated to 7 this morning, and now if I play anything (from library or ipod) through itunes, the sound is far too loud and very distorted (all was normal in 6). Sound works fine in all other apps & windows etc. I can play the same tracks in quicktime & wmp and they sound fine - it's just in itunes.
I was using soundcheck. Turning this off/back on has no effect. I did a 'repair' of itunes & still the same. I'll try a re-install.
Anyone got the same or had anything like this before?
    Any ideas?

I've just managed to fix mine!?! I managed to find this page here....
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
...and made sure the settings were correct (the 'Sound Out' looked wrong on mine, so I set it as shown) and now it's OK again! None of the settings had changed since 6, so it looks like itunes used to ignore those settings, but doesn't anymore (?).
Hope it works for you too!

  • How do I get CS6 to not distort color when using Lion and printing from Epson R2880?

Ever since I up-graded to CS5 , the color has been distorted.  It is not an Epson Lion problem because printing from preview or iPhoto the color is perfect.
Adobe has known about this problem since January 23, 2012.  Their help people have taken over my computer for hours at a time and not been able to discover the source of the problem
I thought they might have fixed it with CS6 but no luck  I chose use CS4 settings because CS4 had worked.
I printed using Printer Manages Color and color matching, epson color.  I selected the correct media.  The prints came out dark.  The yellows turned green and the greens turned blue/green, reds became dull and blues a bit dark.
This is most upsetting because I cannot afford to buy a new printer and ink.  Also I should not have to buy new equipment because Adobe cannot make their product work correctly.

    cmszinnia wrote:
If the printer prints colors accurately from Lion apps, which it does, then the problem is in Adobe.
Uh...ok...then the REST of the FREE world is going down the tubes because obviously, Adobe has screwed up?
Some of us are using LR4 and CS6 to print and getting accurate and excellent results with Lion (10.7.3) so the question begging for an answer is why can't you?
Read very carefully what Chris wrote...the odds are REAL GOOD you are NOT using the correct settings...but since you don't bother to show or explain the EXACT settings you are using when printing, we'll never know. Will we?
If the vast magority of the user base is NOT having an issue, to what do you attribute the disconnect? User Error is the single most likely result...
You want help? Or do you want to argue?
I know a little bit about printing and I seem to be able to print with zero issues on a wide variety of Epson printers...you wanna place blame or do you wanna learn how to fix the problem? (clue, the odds are it isn't Adobe nor Epson leading to the problems, it's you bud).

  • Audio very distorted macbook Pro Retina

Ok, so I started noticing this problem about two weeks ago. Basically my sound quality on my mac, regardless of the output device (tried it on many including internal speakers and sounds the same), has been slowly degrading for the past two weeks. The reason I know is because I've been listening to this one song for the past two weeks, and as of today it sounds much more fuzzy and distorted than before. Just overall lower quality. Then I went off of iTunes and onto SoundCloud to test if it was system-wide, and sure enough it played just as distorted and fuzzy there as on iTunes. I don't know if it is hardware or software related, but It is more likely to be software. I've tried resetting PRAM and reparing disk permissions and the disk itself, and neither worked. I was wondering if there was another way to do it that would prove to be successful.
    Thanks!

  • CS3 PRINTING VERY DARK COLOR PRINTS ISSUE

    Hi,
    This is the situation:
I work on an Eizo CG241W calibrated monitor, and Epson 9880, 9800 and 4800 printers profiled with i1 PRO and EYE-One Match Software. But recently we made a move from Windows to Mac, and since then the color prints are being printed much darker then they used to. I havent been able to figure out was causing it. The issue is the same with all printers.
With the black and white prints printed in Advanced B&W and selecting "normal" (not dark, or darker...) they come out perfect. Just as in the screen. But not the color prints. I need to make them really look very very light on screen to get them where they should. Before I needed to make them lighter, but not as much as now. Same images and files Im talking about. Ive used Epson canned profiles and im having same results, variations, but as dark as with the created profiles.
Thanks for reading and any help on this.
    Best,
    Alex

    Hi,
Thanks Seth, Ballard, Lundberg, and everybody.
The problem has been solved but the mystery remains.
The issue wasnt in the steps needed to print. Thats what I do in the studio where I work most of the time. We calibrate monitors daily and the printers every month more or less. Ive been doing it here for over a year with no problem. This started when we changed platforms and equipment.
However, tired of this, we decided to wipe out clean the printers mac station. Reformat, reinstall all software and drivers, reconfig, etc. And now is working. What was the problem? Who knows.
    Thanks again to all,
    best,

  • Very dull color of Lightroom exported JPEG

My exported JPEG images from Lightroom turn out to be very dull in prints. My monitor is calibrated with EYE ONE (Color Management System). Used correct color space for the printing company (either sRGB or AdobeRGB) I followed instruction about Export process. But still color is not right. Is there anything I should do to get the same color quality as I see in the Lightroom? I think images in the lightroom show much brighter than they are after print (by printing company like Costco/Blurb/Shutterfly) Thank you very much for your help!

You need to have your monitor fairly dim (80-130 lumens or so) to reproduce color. I thought eyeone actually calibrates brightness but I could be wrong. Most people have their monitors set far too bright. Next, you need to look at your pictures using a good fairly bright lamp with much higher color temperature than most desk lamps. If you are getting dull prints (as opposed to just dark) the likely culprit is the wrong colorspace or bad calibration. Some calibrators simply turn out to be broken. Do the pictures look dull too after export in another managed app such as Photoshop, preview, etc? Lastly, you have to realize that it is simply not possible to reproduce every color you can see on a good screen on paper. This can lead to lower saturation. This is the reason why soft proofing is important, which unfortunately is not yet possible in Lightroom.

  • Very incorrect color

The colors in QuickTime are way off for me. If I create an image in PhotoShop of pure white (255, 255, 255), when I open that in Quicktime it will display as 235, 207, 207. It doesn't matter if I embed a color profile in the image or not, QuickTime will not display accurate color. This is true for both the content I create as well as content created by others. All I can think of is that this is a system with a calibrated display, and QuickTime is an app that doesn't use that calibration. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

no lol, i love my ipad but it so very frustrates me that my artwork is being nailed over since i put so much time in editing and working on my ipad.

  • Very different color noise between develop module and library

There is a marked difference in the appearance of an image when viewed in the library versus the develop module. The color noise in the library module is very bad, while in the develop module, the noise reduction is doing a pretty good job. This is strictly a view problem, because if I export from the library, the proper color noise reduction is applied and it appears as it does in the develop module. This is not the first time that I have found this problem between the two modules. Any idea why this is happening? And, is there a fix in the works? It makes it hard to view images in the library.
If I boost the color noise reduction up to 100, the library image starts to look ok, but that doesn't account for the huge difference at lower settings.
There is also a dramatic slow down in the develop module when trying to make any of these changes in noise reduction and more, and also in side-by-side when trying to scroll around in the image to compare areas. Things really crawl. There is a definite two or three second delay before things respond. I have 8gigs in this mac pro, which worked beautifully with LR 3.6

And, is there a fix in the works?
Try rendering 1:1 previews for noisy images.

  • Video is randomly distorted (color inverted) in Premiere Pro CC 2014

Below is a screen grab of what the distortion looks like. It happens regardless of CODEC, sequence setting or type of video file. It happens to MPG, MOV and AVI files equally. It even happens to still graphics. Here are the particulars for my computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 running on an
AMD FX 6 Core processor at 3.5 GHz with
10GB memory, the video card is an
    AMD Radeon HD 7450.
As I explain in the graphic, this problem pops up randomly regardless of what other programs are running in the background or none, and the only way to fix it is to reboot the computer.

This looks like a graphic card issue. Try the latest driver or if you are on that try an earlier version.
