VERY frustrated with file names!

I've read many posts that have explained why we can't use spaces in the file names but none have really explained how to get around it. I'm creating a small web site with about 4 separate photo pages. It will be published to a non-mac server. I've tried evrything I can think of to change these file names but they keep coming back.
Dragging them from the media browser brings in the filename (with spaces).
I made a duplicate of each photow within iPhoto and renamed with no spaces but once imported to iWeb the original titles came back
I've exported entire folders and given new names to all photos during the process and they came back again also
Some retain their title (summer vacation 10/02)
Some revert to original file name (DCS0001523.jpg)
I'm really fed up. Any help?

I wouldn't recommend deleting the original photos in
your iPhoto Library. I always recommend making
duplicates of the photos you will be using and then
applying any processing to those duplicates. What I
usually recommend is that you gather up all the
photos you will use into a temporary album, then
export them (and thereby duplicating them) all at
once to a folder on the desktop where you can access
them for more processing before you drop them into
iWeb.
I don't like to disturb my "originals" as you can
tell. Always making copies!
We think somewhat alike but I am not as careful as you. I always make a duplicate before I work on a photo. Frequently I delete the one that got improved upon because the Original is sitting in the Library anyhow.
But I messed up with my website pictures. In iPhoto I had a bunch of folders for categories, so I made more folders and called them WEBChris Professional, WEBChris and Lorna, WEBCheyenne, etc.
The problem is that somewhere along the line I ended up with TWO WEBLornas. God knows how, but maybe one was a copy. I should have nipped it in the bud when I noticed it, but I was busy working on iWeb and let it get worse and worse (because I kept putting pictures away into folders and I was never sure which Lorna folder a picture would go into. Oh, maybe one was a young Lorna the other an old Lorna, but at this point they are mixed young and old. Bummer.

Very frustrated with the battery exchange program

I'm very frustrated with the battery exchange program. I signed up online, double checked all my information, and submitted. No where on the page did it say that a signature would be required upon delivery. I work during the day, so I'm not home to receive shipments (any package I do receive is just left in the lobby, and it's always been fine--I live in a secure building).
DHL is refusing to leave the package at the door. Apple refuses to tell DHL that it's ok to redirect the package to my place of employment. My only option, it seems, is to spend almost two hours of my time driving to the DHL location and back (the pickup location isn't even in the same county I live in).
If anyone has any better ideas, I would love to hear it.

If your battery was stolen after it was delivered, I'd bet you'd really get upset. If DHL is anything like UPS, you can sign the receipt telling them to leave the package. Pretty simple.

Received File send with file name to destination side

Hi All,
Here I have used FILE adapter in Receive location and WCF-BasicHttp adapter in send ports.
Requirment is should be able to send the file name also along
with the file to destination from BizTalk.
No orchestrations in this project. DynamicSendPassThru sendport. Please find the below screenshot for send port properties.

I tried the suggested procedures. Took out cartridges, replaced them in proper order. Shut off machine. Unplugged machine for more than 10 minutes.
After plugging in machine & turning on, the same error message appeared. It is constant and the machine will not perform in any way including for scanning.
The suggested procedure did not eliminate the error. Your message suggested I go through the "contact us" screen but I've done that twice already.
Not willing to play that dumb game again.

Icloud/iOS5 messing with file names?

It drives me insane Itunes/Ipods create a whole new Artist folder by the slightest detail. (Eg. Captital Letters, grammar etc.)
I finally had mine all perfect but when Icloud/iOS5 came in, it changed a lot of random artists and songs back to their default. Which ok, fair enough. But it's not letting me change it... Itunes says it has the name I've put in, but it doesn't change on my Ipod touch. I've restarted, gone through settings but it never changes. Everythings all messed up now.
Anyone having a similar problem?

did you process these in Capture One? CS3 always mangled long filenames for me coming from Capture One.
i've dealt with this for awhile, very frustrating. - CS5 doesn't mangle the names.

Automatically populate metadata field with file name?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible...
I'm working with many large batches of .jpg files, and am running them through Bridge in order to add metadata according to my client's guidelines.
For every single file, my client requires that the "Description" field in the IPTC Core section of the metadata is filled with the full filename, as it would appear in the Finder, including the .jpg extension.
Currently I'm copying every file's name and pasting it into the Description field. Does anyone know of a good way to automate this task? Since each file name is different, a standard metadata template isn't meeting my needs.
If anyone knows of a good way, I'd be very glad to know! Thank you.

Muse will not Launch, very frustrated with no actual customer support.

When the icon is double click the splash/home screen opens, covers half my screen and stops, It will stay their until it provides an error then closes, this time it closed without the error.
In task manager one time it said it was running but most often it is not in task manager so not running. I have been advised to download cc cleaner, did and ran every location in my PC. I have been told to clear everything, I did. reloaded Muse and the same problem exists. I have been dealing with this for over a week and very disappointed with Adobe. Hi, Thanks for trying, I am not sure how to install the update when the
muse splash screen opens then freezes. If you want I can completely clean
my comp for the fifth time and reset and try again but all the advise I
have received so far is similar to what I just received. A basic fix but
I am not sure if the how it is ever considered. IE, How to update when
program wont open. I wish someone would take the time to really consider
my situation. It really has been more expensive to use Muse then pay a

I can not figure out nor am I sure it can be done with these programs but if someone out there can tell me how I would be very happy. I have several jobs I need contacts on I have been printing contact sheets and then handwriting the file numbers. To old fashion for me. HELP

1. In the browser pane in Aperture, select the images you need.
2. File>Print...
3. On the left-hand side of the print dialog, click on 'Sample Contact Sheet Preset'.
4. In the layout options there is a drop-down menu for which metadata set you want to show below the images. You may get away with using 'Name Only' which gives you the current Version Name, otherwise you may have to make a new metadata set* containing just the filename.

Very Frustrated with iMessage

My iMessages from my iPhone 4 keep showing up on my new iPad (4? The newest one with retina display).
The only address I have checked for "Send and Receive" on my phone, is my phone number. And the only one checked on my iPad, is my Apple ID email. Therefore, if I send an iMessage from my phone (using my phone number), it shouldn't show up on my iPad, correct? But it does.
I've disabled the facetime to my phone number and email address, to my iPad and iPhone respectively, but it still syncs.
I've even gone so far as to delete my iCloud account on my iPad, to prevent it from wirelessly syncing through the cloud, but it still shows up.
I don't want everyone in my home who uses the tablet to be able to see private text conversations.
It seems with Apple, that you either sync everything, or nothing. There doesn't seem to be an in between, and I'm getting very frustrated.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I've looked through other discussions and tried everything I've found, which is the things I listed above, but nothing is working.
To confuse even more, it's not doing this with every text message recipient. An iMessage to one person shows up on the iPad, but an iMessage to another person doesn't. The only difference being that any person I've ever sent a message to from the iPad, everything I send that person from my phone shows up. But if I've never messaged that person from my iPad, it won't show.
I don't understand what's happening, or what I can do to fix it.

Concatenate sysdate with file name in shell script

I have one shell script which i am using to transfer data(SFTP).
Now I have one requirment to use sysdate along with the file name as the file name for the data being transfered.
script is like this...

it gets even easier with the 'scp' command.
please try to use the "code" tags. it is very well possible the forum software did transform parts of your script.
to get into 'code mode': put { c o d e } on a line (without the spaces), then the code, then { c o d e } again to switch back to normal mode.
