Very large DVD image/folder ( dvd9 in size)

I'm having problems making an bluray folder or image that is readable by anything!, (using encore).
So In encore i changed the project format to DVD and set the disc size to custom = 20G !
My mediaplayer (popcorn hour) did play it OK, incl first-play, menus and subtitles, but i wonder if anyone else have experience with generating DVD image or folder which are large than dvd9 ?
(obviously you can not burn it, but who does that nowadays anyway)
/per

..to answer my own question: the 20G 'DVD' played very well...
now I wonder if the player wil accept H264 encoding instead of MPEG2
..if so, i guess the only difference to bluray would be the lack of popup menus ?

  • How to save FrameworkElement as very large raster image?

    I have to save my FrameworkElement as
    very large raster image. For now I use the RenderTargetBitmapclass
    and a BitmapEncoder,
    in this way:
    RenderTargetBitmap bmp = new RenderTargetBitmap(ElementWidth, ElementHeight,
         90, 96, PixelFormats.Default);
    bmp.Render(MyElement);  // OutOfMemoryException here
    PngBitmapEncoder encoder = new PngBitmapEncoder();
    encoder.Frames.Add(BitmapFrame.Create(bmp));
    using (var stream = File.Create(filePath))
    { encoder.Save(stream); }
    Where ElementWidth and ElementHeight are large numbers (about 10000x6000). But with this solution there's a OutOfMemoryException when i try to Render my
    element.
    There are other ways to do what I need (without causing an OutOfMemoryException)? Thanks.

  • All of the input fields in my browser, regardless of site, are very large while everything else is normal size. How do I fix this?

    All of the input fields in the browser are very large while other text is normal size. How do I fix this?
    In some cases some sites headers will run together and sometimes overlap. Other sites will just show a portion of the site in a vertical box but not the full width of the screen and I can't adjust it.

    Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup; select the desired output device and click on the gear icon at the bottom, select 'Play alerts and sound effects through this device'.

  • Is there a way to split a very large 1 page pdf into letter size multiple page pdf?

    I often have very large single page pdfs that need to be printed onto letter size paper.  Usually I don't have access to the printer where I'm working so I have to send the file to someone for printing.
    I have AXI pro, they don't.
    I want to make sure the job is printed as I specify and most of the users are using Reader.  So I want to give the someone the pdf ready to print sized in legal.  This requires manipulation of the pdf that I don't seem to be able to figure out how to do.
    In older versions of Acrobat, I could print to a new pdf and designate the page size.  Acrobat would create the multipage pdf.  The newer versions don't allow this.
    With OSX 10.8 & AXI you can't save, export, split a one page (68" x 16") document into multiple page letter size (16 pages) pdf.
    Perhaps this can be done by printing to eps and running through distiller again or something else, but I'm stumped at the moment.
    Any suggestions of how to attach this would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    That's a tough one. Acrobat is not designed for tiling PDF files to create another PDF. That's really what you're asking. There is the option to PRINT to a PDF, and turn on the Poster feature. If were in Windows where there is a real Adobe PDF printer driver, you could probably use that feature. But for various reasons (too complicated to describe here), that was withdrawn on the Macintosh.
    If you have a copy of Adobe InDesign, and if you installed an Adobe PDF 9 PPD file (see description below), it could be done in a somewhat awkward way. InDesign allows you to place PDF files so you would need to make a page of the proper size and place your large PDF:
    Then after installing the Adobe PDF 9 PPD file, you could choose File > Print. Then choose to print a PostScript file to the Adobe PDF 9.0 PPD file. In the Setup panel, you'd choose a Letter size page. Then you'd choose the Tile option at the bottom and set the Overlap amount:
    Then you'd save the PostScript file and process through Distiller.
    My blog post below describes how to find and install the Adobe PDF 9.0 PPD file:

  • Rebuild iTunes with Just VERY LARGE iTunes Music Folder

    Hello,
    As much as I tried to back every bit of my iTunes database up regularly, I failed to assure the quality of these files. Well, I had a family member accidentally delete the iTunes Library and iTunes Library.xml files (yup, my mistake to allow them access to my Mac in the first place). It is only now that I realize the most recent backup copy of these files are corrupted. The really good news here is that I have multiple intact copies of my entire iTunes Music Folder. My goal is to recreate my iTunes Library and iTunes Library.xml files to accommodate it.
    Now, here is the kicker. My database is 38000 songs and 190 GB large! I certainly know how to add songs iTunes, but it seems as though it chokes with large projects like this and misses random parts of the tag information. So, what is the best way to get me out of this hole, with the least amount of trouble and most efficient restorative actions? While I wait for an answer, I am also researching various other options and digging deep into the root to rescue deleted files.
    If we learn from our mistakes, then I obtained my PhD years ago,
    Dr. Z.

    Dr. Z,
    My iTunes library is about the same size. I am experiencing a little different problem though. At times when I start iTunes up I get a message stating that my library is corrupt and it then tries to restore it from the xml file. It finishes, but doesn't get every song. I then have to select all song and clear them while keeping the files intact on the hard drive. I then have to add my iTunes music folder and all its contents using the iTunes "Add to Library" function. I gets all the songs, but of course now all the dates, when the songs were added to the library, have the current day's date. I have to repeat this whole scenario about three times a week. Grrrrr...
    It seems like iTunes isn't capable of handling large amounts of songs. I'm sure it shoud be able to, but it sure isn't at the moment.
    As to your problem, what if you try adding your songs a chunck at a time instead of all at once? Maybe that will keep your data intact. Just a thought. Might work. I've seen stranger things work.

  • Using swf file for very large static image

    i have a large photo that i need to use as a banner image in a website.  i have tried optimizing it for the web in fireworks -- to reduce the file size obviously -- but the client isn't happy with the resolution.  i haven't had this issue come up before but i see his point (to a degree), as the detail and sharpness of the original is far superior.
    i have almost no familiarity with creating with flash, but i remember reading somewhere that swf files do not have the same sizes as jpeg images.
    would it be feasible to include the single static image as a swf file to preserve its original resolution?  i mean, would that image as a swf file be smaller than the image as a jpeg?
    mille grazie.

    There are two things at play here... image quality (often harmed by compression) and image resolution (# of pixels width by height). What is the real problem?
    Whether you render your image as a GIF, JPG, PNG or SWF file, they will all have the same resolution.
    Packing an image in SWF should be a last resort as not everyone has Flash installed. For example, iPhone users cannot see SWF.

  • Is it possible to make a very large disc image?

    This question is in relation to the first I asked. But my goal here is to use approximately 75% of my 2TB TC as external storage, and have the remaining 25% be for the continuous backups. What is the best way to go about doing this?
    Is there a way to make a disc image that is larger than 500MB? That's a really insignificant amount of space, and it would be ridiculous to make 1.5 TB worth of those.
    So if that wouldn't work, is there a way to limit the backups so that they start deleting the oldest ones when it's used up 25% of the total memory? Then I could just use the rest of the space how I wanted.
    Sorry, I have lots of questions here. My last one, is there a way to set the backups to happen say every week, rather than every hour?

    A partition can be thought of as a division or "part" of a real hard disk drive. When you partition a hard drive, you make it available to an operating system. Multiple partitions on a single hard drive appear as separate drives to the operating system.
    Disk images are a way of packaging several files together for convenience, so that they can be downloaded and copied as a single file. A disk image file can be identified by its ".dmg" extension. These files are called "disk image" files because when they are opened to access their contents, your Mac treats a disk image as if an actual physical disk had been inserted.

  • Very slow DVD image creation: is there a faster way.

    Hi to everybody.
    I often need to create images from DL DVD2 and each image takes around 45 minutes. All this time for just 7,8Gbytes of datas (using Disk Utility)? Is there a faster software for doing this?
    TIA
    majortom67

    Make sure you set Disk Utility's "Image Format" to "DVD/CD master", not "compressed". (Video data is already compressed, so "compressed" will not be much smaller but takes a lot more computing.)

  • Applying Oil Paint Filter to Large Scale Images

    I need to apply the effects available from the Oil Paint filter to very large, 80mb images. The filter works exactly as I need it to on small images, but not at large scale. A comment I have heard in a Lynda.com video on the Oil Paint filter mentioned that the filter does not work well on large images. However, I REALLY need this, even if I need to pay someone to write a program that can do it! Does anyone know if / how I can get the filter to work for large images and / or if there is a third-party plug-in that will provide the same results? Having this filter work on large scale images could make or break a business idea I have so finding a solution is extremely important to me.

    What's the problem you're having with applying it to an 80 MB image?  Is it that the effects don't scale up enough?
    Technically it can run on large images if you have the computer resources...  I've just successfully applied it to an 80 MB image, and with the sliders turned all the way up it looks pretty oil painty, though it kind of drops back into a realistic looking photo when zoomed out...
    If it's just that the sliders can't go high enough, given that it's a very abstract look you're trying to achieve, have you considered applying it at a downsized resolution, then upsampling, then maybe applying it again?  This is done that way...
    Oh, and by the way, Oil Paint has been removed from Photoshop CC 2014, so if you're planning a business based on automatically turning people's large photos into oil paintings you should assume you'll be stuck with running the older Photoshop version.

  • Very large bdump file sizes, how to solve?

    Hi gurus,
    I currently always find my disk space is not enough, after checking, it is the oraclexe/admin/bdump, there's currently 3.2G for it, my database is very small, only holding datas of 10mb.
    It didn't happen before, only currently.
    I don't know why it happened, I have deleted some old files in that folder, but today I found it is still very large compare to my database.
    I am running an apex application with xe, the applcaitions works well, we didn't see anything wrong, but only the bdump file very big.
    any tip to solve this? thanks

  • Burnind a dvd using folder vs image

    I am creating a dvd in encore.  I have used 3 methods.  One is creating a dvd folder.  The other is creating a dvd image.  Then I use DVDfab to burn the disk.  And the third method is creating the DVD straight from Encore.
    First, the quality of the DVD seems better if I burned it from a DVD folder than if I burned it from the DVD image.  Does that make sense?
    Second, the problem is the DVD created by burning the "dvd folder" - not all of my menu actions work on the DVD.  WHen I burn directly to disk or from an image file, the menus work fine.  Has anyone seen that before?
    I need to burn 200 DVDs.  So I plan to ship a file to be burned by a 3rd party and wondering is one format is better than the other.

    Like Jim said, burning methodology will have no effect on final quality, the SAME data is being burned to the disc. However, be VERY careful if using the VIDEO_TS folder method. If you simply burn that to a DVD as "data", it will work in computers, maybe Sony PS3, but it will NOT work in a set-top DVD player. Be a shame to send that one to the duplicator!
    Your disc burning software might offer several options, such as AUDIO CD, DATA, DVD VIDEO. Very important to select "DVD VIDEO" when burning a VIDEO_TS folder, in order to create a DVD that meets the DVD specs. It's not enough to just burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a disc; rather, for "DVD VIDEO" there are certain headers written to the disc to tell the player "THIS IS A DVD VIDEO" and the tracks may also be laid out/burned a certain way. Very different than just burning a folder direct to a data disc. Needs to be properly "formatted" is one way to say it.
    So I really recommend using the .iso image file, because that is a snapshot of a legal DVD, burn that and all is good. Always test DVDs on a DVD player, not just a computer, otherwise you don't know if the disc is truly "DVD legal" since computers will play any disc, legal or not.
    What kind of deal do you get on duplication? I've been using www.kunaki.com and love it. It is no-frills, no customer service.YOU are in charge, basically a self-service deal. Costs $1.75 per disc, includes black DVD case, full color case insert, full color DVD print, optional color insert card inside case, all shrink wrapped also. Just upload the DVD and graphics and order any amount and they usually ship within 24 hours. Optionally, they will provide a free PROOF copy if you wish before committing to a large order. Also offering fulfillment, and you can put up a web page to allow direct ordering by customers if you desire, and they send you the proceeds monthly.

  • What is the optimum core configuration for a new Mac Pro to process and manipulate very large (80 megapixel) images using PhotoShop and Camera Raw?

    Hello:
    I will be using creative techniques to process and manipulate a large number (hundreds) of very large (80 megapixel) images captured using a medium format digital back (Phase One IQ180).
    Final output will be digital fine art imagery printed using an Epson 11880 at large sizes (up to 60 inches x ?), retaining the highest possible quality and resolution. I will be using Adobe CC PhotoShop and Camera RAW as well as Capture One software. PhotoShop filters will be used extensively.
    The Mac Pro needs to be optimized for the above purpose and be useful for at least five years. I plan to max out all the other options (RAM, graphics cards, storage). Performance is more important than cost.
    The few discussions I have found that mention optimum core configurations seem to lean toward 6 or 8 (but likely are not taking into consideration my need for manipulating a large number of very large files), so I am looking to this foum for opinions.
    Thank you,
    Kent

  • Capture Image Of A Very Large JPanel

    Below is some code used to save an image of a JPanel to a file...
        int w = panel.getSize().width;
        int h = panel.getSize().height;
        BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(w, h, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
        Graphics graphics = image.getGraphics();
        // Make the component believe its visible and do its layout.
        panel.addNotify();
        panel.setVisible(true);
        panel.validate();
        // Draw the graphics.
        panel.print(graphics);
        // Write the image to a file.
        ImageFile imageFile = new ImageFile("test.png");
        imageFile.save(image);
        // Dispose of the graphics.
        graphics.dispose();This works fine but my problem is that I am trying to save what may be a very large JPanel, perhaps as large as 10000x10000 pixels. It doesn't take long for the java heap to be used up and an exception to be thrown.
    I know I can increase the heap size of the JVM but since I can't ever be sure how large the panel may be that's a far from ideal solution.
    So the question is how do I save an image of a very large JPanel to a file?

    1) Does the OoM happens while instantiating the buffered image, (which probably tries to allocate a big continuous native array of pixels)?
    Or the Graphics object (same reason, though the Graphics is probably just an empty shell over the big pixel array)?
    2) In which format do you need to save the image? Do you only need to be able to read it again in your own program?
    If yes to both questions, then a pulled-by-the-hair solution coud be to instantiate your own Graphics subclass (no Buffered Image), whose operations would save their arguments directly to the image file, instead of into a big in-memory model of the panel image.
    If the output format is a standard one though (GIF, JPG,...), then maybe your custom Graphics's operations could contain the logic to encode/compress as much as possible of the arguments into an in-memory bytearray of the target format?
    I'm not very confident though; I d'ont know the GIF or JPEG encoding, but I suspect (especially for JPEG) that you need to know the "whole" image to encode it properly.
    But if the target format supports encoders that work on the fly out of streams of bytes (e.g. BMP ) then you can use whatever compress/uncompress technique you see fit (e.g. RLE ): you know the nature of the panels, you may be aware of some optimizations you may perform wrt pixels storage. prior to encoding (e.g., bug empty areas, predictable chessboard pattern, black-and-white palette,...).

  • Editing very large images

    I have several very large images that require minor editing. The tasks that I require are only basic rotation, cropping, and maybe minor color adjustments.
    The problem is that the images range from 20780 x 15000 px down to 11150 x 2600 px.
    With images this size, when I try to perform any operation on the entire image, like a 3 deg rotation, fireworks simply times out. Maybe it is because it can't generate the preview image at that size, maybe it simply can't calculate the image at that size. If it is just the preview image, is there a way to lower the quality (say, jpeg quality of 5%) of the preview image only but when I export the image, I can keep it at 100%?
    Thank you,
    -Adam
    (Yes, I did search, but the forums search seemed mildly useless and engine results consistently returned nothing)

    Fireworks is not designed to work with images of this size. It's a screen graphics application. Photoshop would be a better option here, or other software designed for working with high resolution files.

  • HELP!! Very Large Spooling / File Size after Data Merge

    My question is: If the image is the same and only the text is different why not use the same image over and over again?
    Here is what happens...
    Using CS3 and XP (P4 2.4Ghz, 1GB Ram, 256MB Video Card) I have taken a postcard pdf (the backside) placed it in a document, then I draw a text box. Then I select a data source and put the fields I wish to print (Name, address, zip, etc.) in the text box.
    Now, under the Create Merged Document menu I select Multiple Records and then use the Multiple Records Layout tab to adjust the placement of this postcard on the page. I use the preview multiple records option to lay out 4 postcards on my page. Then I merge the document (it has 426 records).
    Now that my merged document is created with four postcards per page and the mailing data on each card I go to print. When I print the file it spools up huge! The PDF I orginally placed in the document is 2.48 MB but when it spools I can only print 25 pages at a time and that still takes FOREVER. So again my question is... If the image is the same and only the text is different why not use the same image over and over again?
    How can I prevent the gigantic spooling? I have tried putting the PDF on the master page and then using the document page to create the merged document and still the same result. I have also tried createing a merged document with just the addresses then adding the the pdf on the Master page afterward but again, huge filesize while spooling. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated :)

    SYMPTOMS
    When you print a document that contains lots of raster data, the size of the Enhanced Metafile (EMF) spool file may become very large. Files such as Adobe .pdf files or Microsoft Word .doc documents may contain lots of raster data. Adobe .pdf files and Word .doc documents that contain gradients are even more likely to contain lots of raster data.
    Back to the top
    CAUSE
    This problem occurs because Graphics Device Interface (GDI) does not compress raster data when the GDI processes EMF spool files and generates EMF spool files.
    This problem is very prominent with printers that support higher resolutions. The size of the raster data increases by four times if the dots-per-inch (dpi) in the file increases by two times. For example, a .pdf file of 1 megabyte (MB) may generate an EMF spool file of 500 MB. Therefore, you may notice that the printing process decreases in performance.
    Back to the top
    RESOLUTION
    To resolve this problem, bypass EMF spooling. To do this, follow these steps:1. Open the properties dialog box for the printer.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click the Print directly to the printer option.
    Note This will disable all print processor-based features such as the following features: N-up
    Watermark
    Booklet printing
    Driver collation
    Scale-to-fit
    Back to the top
    STATUS
    Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
    Back to the top
    MORE INFORMATION
    Steps to reproduce the problem
    1. Open the properties dialog box for any inbox printer.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Make sure that the Print directly to the printer option is not selected.
    4. Click to select the Keep printed documents check box.
    5. Print an Adobe .pdf document that contains many groups of raster data.
    6. Check the size of the EMF spool file.
