Very Limited Internet access - Download

I am now a Full Creative Cloud member. Can I download the complete Master Collection Creative Cloud Suite package for easy install onto my computer? I have very limited internet where the work computer is. I can get broadband from another location and would like to fully download the package from there and then take to the work computer for install. Is this possible? Or is it possible to ask for the software on disc?

G'day Mylenium,
Cheers mate for the link, however this does not offer the 'most-up-to-date' versions of all the software on offer as a paid 'Cloud' member.
Surely there is a way for Cloud members to download the most up to date paid software without restrictions for easy install onto a computer that does not have or very little internet access?
My office computer is located in the country and the only internet available, and very on and off due to poor reception, is 3G mobile coverage. At $49 per month for only 3GBs, this is very expensive, so we use the internet sparingly.
I do have access to a broadband else where to download content, but I am not allowed nor is it suitable to take along the WorkStation Rig to this broadband location to install downloaded software.
I am happy to download the occasional update and to have the software do a monthly check in for licencing, but to have to download large files is just not possible.
I must be missing something from Adobe, surely they have addressed this concern for others before?
Cheers
Michael

  • VPN and limiting internet access

I posted this under the SMB as well but wanted to post under the VPN header at the same time.
Hello all, I am very new to VPN's and Firewalls so please forgive me for lack of terminology usage.
I am part of a company that has 20 internal PC's and 25 external sites (Convienient stores) that are all now being placed on a VPN. We purchased a ASA 5510 for the office and we are placing Linksys RV042 routers at the stores. What my question is, is that we have a few stores that need limited internet access because we have Subway restaurants there and they need to download and upload at times. What I dont want is to allow full access to the net because of the chance of outside attacks or viruses.
My question is, what can be done to set the VPN in place but only allow certain access to web addresses that we say is alright to have communication with?
Is this possible and / or what else needs to be purchased?
I thank you in advance for any help you can advise on.
    JJ

The problem with the internet is, how do you define this 'certain' addresses. Is this possible for you?
There is an option in VPNs called split tunneling, which has a "Exclude specified" mode, that might help.

  • I received a text today while at work about iCloud keychain verification code. I have not signed up for it or anything that uses it. I work out of the city with limited internet access so not sure why I would be getting this. Is my info safe??

I received a text today while at work about iCloud keychain verification code. I have not signed up for it or anything that uses it. I work out of the city with limited internet access so not sure why I would be getting this. I only got this number about a month ago. Apparently someone else had the number before because I get texts from his family members wondering whats going on. I got one yesterday and the person didn't seem to thrilled that the number was cutoff and today I got 2 texts about iCloud Keychain which I don't even know what it is. Seems suspicious to me. If the person who use to own the number is doing it he should know it is not his number anymore because he obviously didn't pay his bills.  I'm not too sure about iCloud Keychain so just want to know my info safe?? It says it can store credit card numbers which is what gets me worried. Frankly I think it's pretty stupid to save that kind if information with any kind of app. But I don't want some random person trying to access my personal information because they are bitter they lost their number.  Please let me know as soon as possible so I can change passwords or anything that is needed.
    thanks

If it were me, I would go to my carrier and get a new number. Since you have only had it for a month, the inconvenience would be minimal.

  • Very slow internet access..... - interesting issue !

I have 3 computers at home: PC XP, PC Vista and a new imac 24'' since 4 weeks....
As side comment I'm disappointed in Apple... I expected much more… more issues than Vista seems….
    10.4.11 + Safari 3.0.4 + Firefox.
Internet on my Mac is very slow. On the same network (wireless with WEP 128) when I enter a new page on my PC and Mac at the same time it take to the Mac approx 5 time more time to display (safari or firefox)…
On safari I have empty the cash and “reset safari”…still the same….its dam slow for Internet access. I also removed the Wireless encryption but still the same….
Does somebody have a clue what it could be?

The DNS is coming from the dsl provider. Very often your router simply gets the dns automatically. With Leopard, I suspect some of the settings are such that things time out before the dns gets through. What I did was look up what the actual IP number of the dsl providers dns was. I added the IP number of the dns provider to my router. So far that seems to have solved my WiFi delays with Leopard (although that could just be a co-incidence).
Exactly how you add the IP number to a router is router dependent. Mine is a netgear, and you do it through a web page link to the router's IP number (which will be listed in the manufacturer's handbook). Generally something like 192.168.0.1
    Hope that helps.

  • Tips on Limiting internet access

I hope the following helps people on limiting traffic at home, it started off as a how to, but then realised it was going to be too complicated, so i thought i would just give people some tips so they have a starting point. Please comment if you have your own guides on how to do it  Limiting internet on your local network can be a very complex issue, that is why there are software packages available such as Net Nanny that make it easier for you. If you are tech savy you can do it yourself provided that your modem supports features such as QoS, URL Filtering, WAN\LAN Firewall and Timed Profiles QoS, stands for Quality of Service meaning you can have traffic slowed if you decide you don’t want to fully ban them.URL Filtering can be used to ban only certain sites.Firewall is the enforcer of the rules.Timed profiles establish a start and end time of when certain actions should take place, for example only ban traffic between 10 AM and 7 AM If you want to do this on a cable modem make sure that your cable modem is bridged before you go out and get a router that is able to do the above functionality If you have ADSL you have two choices, either get a modem router combined or you use your existing bigpond modem and get a router. If you just get a router make sure you bridge the modem for the following to work correctly If you are stuck on how to bridge your modem the following might help http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/adsl_modem_router_bridge_mode I have found that Billion modems work the best as they are the most feature rich and are constantly updated. They are relatively affordable and can be purchased from the likes of JMG Technology, MSY and others. For example the 8800AXL AC ADSL Router is only $144 Here is some advise on how to set it uphttp://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/909150

    Good article, thank you

  • Limited internet access after installing drivers in boot camp

I bootcamped my mac and figured out the internet connection issue. After I connected to the internet however the connection has limited acces and won't open any pages. Can anyone help me with this issue?

    Hi slausty,
usually installing a graphic card driver in Windows should not have any effect on your OSX since the WIndows driver is only loaded and used when using Windows.
You first might try a PRAM reset of your MBP since the display settings for OSX are stored in there.
Next you should consider downloading the BootCamp Driver Updates 2.1 and 2.2 from Apples website.
Before installing them though a backup of your Windows or at least make a 'System Restore Point' in Windows to revert back easier if needed.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Very Strange Internet Access Behavior After upgrade to systemd

Currently I'm having very strange issues with my wireless connection. Currently, if I connect using netcfg to a wireless access point, I have the following behavior:
      1. chromium can connect to any website
      2. thunderbird can send/receive emails
      3. curl, firefox and opera can connect to some https sites but not http (yes: https://www.facebook.com, https://bbs.archlinux.org, no: https://archlinux.org, https://github.com)
      4. wget does not connect, neither does pacman -Syu
after I upgraded to systemd, I was getting errors because of groups, so I removed extra groups. Here's what I have now:
There is currently no rc.conf in /etc
    $ id ambantis
    uid=1000(ambantis) gid=100(users) groups=100(users)
    $ id root
    uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),19(log),1000(wheel)
If I try to remove the wheel group, then netcfg does not allow me to connect, neither can I connect manually with wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd
Here's the output of $ systemctrl

    UPDATE:
I've managed to make changes to the passwd file so that uuidd is in fact uuidd (instead of uuid). I've also gone through and restored the groups of postgres and tomcat. I'm still having the same behavior. After booting up, here are the new entries from /var/log/errors.log:

  • Very limited online access on two occasions

    Folks,
I'm on an iMac (running SL, up to date) at my worksite, which is part of a university's research organization. The computer is connected via ethernet.
Last week after waking the computer and logging in to my user account, it would retrieve email from my work account (domain name projects.sdsu.edu), and I was able to load a small number of webpages from the university (in the sdsu.edu domain).
However, I could not connect to ANYTHING else. My two personal email accounts could not be reached, none of my IM accounts could be reached, nor could I view any other websites, including the one for the university's research organization (www.foundation.sdsu.edu). So while I could access other sites at sdsu.edu I could not get into foundation.sdsu.edu.
Incidentally, I use Eudora as a mailreader, so it was checking all 3 of my email accounts, and only able to retrieve the one.
It almost seemed as if someone had installed a block on my computer such that I could only access work-related IPs, but that doesn't explain why I was also unable to get into my employer's main homepage.
I rebooted the computer a couple times, to no avail. I then canvassed a few colleagues, running both PCs and one using a Mac (running Tiger, I believe), and none of them were experiencing any problems with connectivity, including the aforementioned foundation.sdsu.edu.
I tried logging into my bare-bones guest user account, but the problem persisted there. That ruled out something screwy with my own user account. I then tried booting from the SnowLeopard DVD. I was hoping to be able to run Safari but the available apps were limited to a few utilities. So I went ahead and repaired permissions from Disk Utility, while still running off of the SL DVD.
After rebooting, everything was working fine again. I wasn't sure if it was a permissions problem that had been fixed or if it was just coincidental with something else being righted, but I was just happy to be back in business and chalked it up to a freak glitch and went back to work.
Well, a week later, same thing happened. Woke up the computer, logged in, and I see that nothing is connecting, except for that one email account.
This time I tried rebooting, and no luck. Then I tried booting in safe mode--and everything connected just fine. Hmm. I then re-booted normally, and everything continued to work.
Any idea what might be up here? I realize that with only 2 data points, it's not much to go on. It seems the only commonality between the two events is that the problem was fixed after I had rebooted into something other than the two user accounts on the computer. Although I was technically in my user account when I booted in safe mode.
Sorry for the long-winded story, but I didn't want to omit a possibly important detail.
    TIA!

You may need to speak to the IT department.

  • Limited Internet Access -- Cannot resolve names but can ping IP addresses

    Hi,
I'm almost at wits end here with the problem I'm having with my MBP running 10.6.7. Here's what's happened on my end:
I'm an IT professional working with both mac, linux and PC. I upgraded to 10.6.7 a few weeks ago and everything was fine. As a part of my job I volunteered to test a VPN accelerator application from Riverbed that uses one of their "Steelhead" appliances. I installed the software and was testing it when suddenly my machine froze completely and I had to force-power cycle the laptop to reboot it. When the laptop came back up, it reconnected to the network but I was unable to resolve any IP addresses from name.
I tested the connection repeatedly. I tried different networks. Switching between hardline and wi-fi. I blew away all network configuration and started from scratch. Three times. restarted the mDNSresponder. I uninstalled the appliance software, repeated the network blow away, and tried to connect. I tried reinstalling the software - no dice. Which leaves me where I am now: making a full backup of my drive and important information and formatting it.
I was hoping beyond hope that someone could point out a possible solution that doesn't involve the nuclear option on my files. I have a lot of applications installed and it will take DAYS of work just to get the machine back to where its supposed to be. I dare not reinstall from a full backup because I don't know which touched file is the culprit in my painful experience.
At the time when my PC crashed the software was likely intercepting and rerouting name-to-ip resolution to make the accelerator work. It must have temporarily altered a core networking file somehow to accomplish the redirect. When I crashed, the file was locked in a changed state and nothing I do can alter that. I've searched the appliances' web site and scoured Google looking for some hint as to what might have went wrong and tried to find a solution, but it seems that I'm the only person to have had this issue so far - either that or the solution is hidden on page 8,137 of Googles' results after all the ads have been passed up.
The only thing that I can think of is that my machine was running vmware at the time, and that a combination of VMNET screwing up and the Steelhead appliance application caused my machine to hose itself.
Like I said, the only thing I haven't done is format and reinstall - something I'm loathe to do at this moment because work is very busy. I still have my bootcamp partition and I've been using that for my work. Right now I am using a borrowed Mac Air to surf the net while I trawl through the various files on my Mac partition.
So if anyone has had the patience and fortitude to read this far, I'd greatly appreciate any help or suggestions that others might be able to offer! Especially since if I have to deal with any more problems from this VPN device it would be nice to know how to fix this issue.
Here's a brief summary of what works:
    - Ping via IP address (any location on the net)
    - Manual entry of IP to name translations in the hosts file. (did this to re-download the 10.6.7 cumulative updater)
    - nslookup works for some god-unknown reason.
    Here's what doesn't:
    - Name resolution through web browser or ping from the terminal or network utilities.
    Thanks,
    Roger.

    Roger,
Nslookup queries the DNS server directly, while other programs (e.g. web browser, ping, etc.) use a system call (gethostname2) which goes through Apple's DirectoryService. The fact that both your VM's and nslookup are working indicates your computer can contact the DNS server via UDP and that the problem probably lies with DirectoryServices.
Do you have a VPN client installed (something other than Steelhead)? VPN clients modify DNS resolution in order to give you name lookup for servers within the VPN. If you do have a VPN client installed, have you tried uninstalling/ reinstalling it?
Another approach is to enable DirectoryService verbose logging from the terminal:
    sudo killall -USR1 DirectoryService
Try a ping and then take a look (or post) the log:
    /Library/Logs/DirectoryService/DirectoryService.debug.log
    -Brendan

  • Internet access problems and viewing video on internet

I have very limited interet access most of the time.  I get a message: "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication.  ..."  I have no problem with email and other features of the phone during this time.  The signal at the top of my phone says "GSM".  When I am able access the internet, it give me a different signal (can't remember what that is, however).  Even then, I cannot view most video clips, such as YouTube clips.  They will not load all the way.  It states, "Error has occurred in attempting to play media."  Help!

I have unlimited internet access, so that's not the problem.  Right when I got the phone, I replaced the original data card with a 4G card and enabled mass storage.  I have (since my first post) had more access capability by enabling the WiFi (da) which finds my wireless connection at home.  I've also been able to view a video clip, not successfully all the way through, however.  During viewing, the phone appears to crash, i.e. the screen goes white and then it takes 3-5 minutes for it to reboot.  This has also happened when the phone has not even been being used.   Also, as I was surfing the net, the phone asked if I wanted to enable Javascript which I did.  Is there anything else that I need to enable or do to the phone in order to have a more pleasant experience using the internet and viewing video clips?

  • "No Internet Access" on connected device with mobile hotspot

I've been on Verizon for 2 weeks.  Note II on a Family Share Plan with lots of data.  Using the built-in Verizon Mobile Hotspot application.  Connecting from my work laptop, which is Windows 7.
Set it up and everything worked fine for a week and a half.  I had no problems connecting or accessing the internet from my laptop.  It worked fine Monday morning.  Monday afternoon my laptop started giving me the warning message "No Internet Access" when connecting to the phone's hotspot.  I'm in a 4g area where the hotspot has worked previously.  I've tried several times in several different 4g locations as time allowed over the last 2 days, and I have not been able to get to the internet on my connected laptop again.
While connected to the mobile hotspot I ran Windows troubleshooter and it tells me that there is no DHCP server available, and that the default gateway for this network is unreachable.  My laptop has no problems reaching the internet via the wireless network at work or at home.  The laptop connects to both of those wireless networks every day (both before and since this problem appeared.)
I have rebooted both the phone and the laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I renamed the hotspot, and connected to the "new" hotspot from my laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I have tried running "ipconfig /renew" from my laptop while connected, and that is when it tells me that it cannot find a DHCP server for this network.
What broke?  How can I fix it?
I'm still in the 100% refund return period on my contract and phones (for another day or so.)  This is an absolute deal-killer.  Hotspot on my phone is the single reason why I switched networks.
    * Revised 2/28:
This morning I turned on the mobile hotspot feature on my wife's Galaxy S3 (on the same Verizon Family Share Plan.)  Then I connected to it from my laptop.  When it connected it said "limited internet access" for about 30 seconds, and then that warning went away and I had full access.  I surfed for a moment to confirm, and all was working.  I turned off the GS3 hotspot and turned on the hotspot on my Note II.  When I connected to the Note II's hotspot from my laptop I still had no internet access.  I left it for 3-4 minutes, and it never switched on.  I tried surfing and got only error messages in my browser.
All of this was while sitting at my desk.  So I believe I have ruled out the laptop as a cause for this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

After I posted the above in February I talked to Verizon support.  They could not resolve the problem.  They replaced the phone, and the new phone has worked for months.  My work schedule changed a bit, and so I started using the hotspot less often.
Last week I noticed that after I connected my laptop I had a longer delay before it would change from "No Internet Access" to giving me access.  Yesterday morning it was so slow that I got the command prompt up on my laptop and determined that from the laptop's perspective the problem was that there was no DHCP server available through the hotspot network.  That morning it did eventually find the DHCP server and issue my laptop an IP address, and let me connect.
Yesterday afternoon the DHCP server never appeared, and I was not able to connect to the internet.  Same thing this morning.  I rebooted both the phone and the laptop.  No change.  The laptop connects to other wireless networks just fine, still.  This worked for months.  Why did it slow down connecting and then stop?  I'm guessing there must be some sort of buffer that has filled up.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Slow internet access after Mavericks upgrade

I have been experiencing very slow internet access since I upgraded to Maverics OS.
The Wifi connection is unstable.  Sometimes it looses connection.  I did not have this problem before.
Is this a problem experienced by others?  Do you have any steps on how you got this resolved?

what is the model of your wireless adapter?

  • IMac G4 800 mhz internet access via LAN very slow

We have a G4 800mhz running 10.3. Memory is 768K. The only use for this machine is as a music server. It is connected to the internet via LAN; internet access is extremely slow - pages take an incredibly long time to load. Download/Upload speeds are about the same as I see on my Macbook Pro so I don't think it is the connected to the internet. Is there anything one can do to troubleshoot very laggy browser performance?

You may need to turn to Activity Monitor (or "AM") in Applications > Utilities to see if a runaway background process is eating up processor cycles. If you've not run AM before, on first launch its "Show" window defaults to "My Processes." That will tell only part of the story. Change it to "All Processes"to get the full picture.
Now highlight the "%CPU" column to sort by processor usage. Best to check with no user apps running other than AM. Let AM percolate five to ten seconds to let it finish its first poll. What you are looking for are any processes that are using 15 percent or more of "%CPU" with nothing running other than AM. If you find one, post its name here and we can advise how to deal with it.
However, don't get your expectations too high that a process has gone rogue. Part of it is simply a lack of speed by today's standards. I recently upgraded a friends iMac G4 800 from Panther to Tiger so it could run the latest browsers and it was still terribly slow compared to my PowerBook G4 1Ghz running the same level OS. The iMac 800 has a slow logic board bus (100mHz).

  • I have been a loyal customer for years and have a hot spot because internet options are very limited in our rural area.  I have stayed with 10G since the beginning.  Most months I don't use the 10G.  Verizon has no problem with me paying for Data I don't

I have been a loyal customer for years and have a hot spot because internet options are very limited in our rural area.  I have stayed with 10G since the beginning.  Most months I don't use the 10G.  Verizon has no problem with me paying for Data I don't use.  This month my daughter comes home from College and she accidentally uses 24G.....14 over get blind sided with $140.00 in overages.  I called Verizon today......stopped in to the store today......My neighbor told me they waved charges for her one time.  Lots of charges.....But I'm am getting no help.  Not even an offer of a payment plan to help me out.  I went back just 6 months and I have over paid for 19G.....Seems like they would like to help out their loyal customers!!!!     Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with them?   We are not wealthy....or I would just pay this and walk away......

There is a big misconception in what customers believe a cell carrier is obligated to do.
You pay a set price to use up to that amount of xx data. It makes no difference if you use it to the paid limit or way under. Its like peace of mind when you don't have to worry about a data counter.
Your daughter used the data, your plan is quite clear of what overage charges are. Why should or would Verizon wireless just forgive the charges because you are a customer? Your daughter used the data, get the money from her. That is the responsible thing to do.
There is no "I have been a loyal customer so please remove the $120, or $250, or $2,000.00 since I did not mean to use it"
Your electric company, or gas company or any other company does not remove valid charges. Why should Verizon wireless?
Just pay the invoice and don't think you are being mistreated because Verizon is a business and not a charity.
    Good Luck
