Very little sound, no equalizer

I have an HP Nootbook PC, Model #2000-49WM, (running Windows 8.1 OS) I'm can get very little volume from the Realtek Sound System. It is a Realtek AC-97 Audio Driver AU.06, Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 2.68. I'm getting very little volume from the sound system, turned up to 100% you can barely hear anything . Also if I turn the microphone volume up above about 10%, I get a loud feedback from the speakers. Realtek really screwed-up when they quit the equalizer back around Vista or so. Can anyone help, or do you need more information. And does anyone know of a good free software equalizer that would fit my system. When I first started the PC it had Windows 8 and I swear it had an equalizer. But because I wanted the desktop back I updated to Windows 8.1, maybe not a good move. Well let me know, someone if you have any answers. Kutchi-13

  • Very little sound from external speakers

After upgrading to Lion, there seems to be very little sound coming from my external speakers.  Speakers work with other devices but not so much with MacBook Pro.  In iTunes, the volumn slider is maxed out with the speaker volumn on the keyboard maxed out too.  Used to blast out the house, but not now.
Don't know if it's as a result of the upgrade or not.  I did a PRAM reset but still nothing.
    Any advice?
    Thanks in advance.

Volume control on the speakers themselves?

  • Very Little Sound in Side/Rear Speakers (7.1 speaker syst

I have WIN XP 32 bit, the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard, Creative 7700 7. 7 piece speakers and the Creative sofrware installed. I can hear sound in the side/rear speakers but it is quite faint and I can't see how to turn up the volume. Any help would be great. Jerry.

    SnIpErMiKe,
The Inspire 7700 should have come with the 7.1 cable. Have the package content again.
If you still do have it, it's best to contact support and see if they have this available.

I have the same problem and I just sent my sub woofer at a cost of an additional $30 shipping and just got it back to find the one I got back if not the same one LEFT REAR SPEAKER DOES NOT WORK. Before it made distorted noises, now it doesn't nothing. This seems to be a repeating partern I'm seeing here and of course no info in FAQ like popping crackling noise in XFI.... Same thing with the speakers. I love the Mods recommendation, its funny when you catch them giving advice for stuff you've tried without luck and you know lightning rarely strikes twice.... Or posts twice. I'll check back if I figure something out, hope if you find a fix you post it please.

  • Audigy 2 ZS: Very little rear speaker so

I have Audigy 2 ZS soundcard, Logitech X-530 speakers, on Windows Vista 32 bit. I can't seem to get much sound out of the rear speakers. If I turn the CMSS slider all the way to the left (rear) it basically turns the sound off. There is a very little sound coming from the rear speakers, so I know they're hooked up.
I saw something about speaker calibrator--is there something I can use for that? I'm guessing that Creative doesn't provide speaker calibrator on Vista? Is there some way I can calibrate my speakers, or is it possible there is something else wrong?
    Thank you!

Difficult question, huh? If you have any ideas for what causes this problem please help. I think that uninstalling & reinstalling Audigy's drivers is not a solution!

  • HP 2000-bf69WM no sound/very little with externals

    none or very little sound

    GRoberts,
I would like you to go back into the BIOS menu to check on your current BIOS version.
    Shut the computer back off
Tap the F10 key on the startup
On the right side of the screen there should be a row that that’s BIOS version (See Screenshot below)
Write that information down and then press F10 to save and exit
If that version is older than F.62, please upgrade your BIOS. When you open the link click download once the download finishes save the file first and then install it. (Note please have the AC adapter plugged in throughout the process)
If you have to update the BIOS place your sound from the built in speakers and see if you notice a difference.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks

  • Qosmio X500 - Very low sound

    Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my new Qosmio X500. Its speakers produce a very low sound, especially when I'm using Guitar Pro. Please, tell me, if it can be improved somehow. Thanks a lot!

Have you tried adjusting the speaker enhancements? This Increased the volume quite a bit for me.
Open "SOUND" from the control panel, on the "Playback" tab double click "Speakers" This will bring up the "Speaker Properties" box. Go to the enhancements Tab. "Loudness Equalization" made the biggest increase for me.

  • Very low sound volume on Portege R500

The sound volume on my R500 (R500-11c to be exact) is ridiculously low. Only with volume maxed out (100) and using headphones do I hear anything at all, and even then it's way too low to be useful. I can just make out the test sounds in the left and then right earphone when using the test sound found at Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers (there are no Headphones to be selected) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Test. Unplugging the headphones I hear nothing from the speakers, due to the (very low) sounds made by the fan and HDD. Playing music (with headphones) I can just make out that sounds are being produced, but I can't even make out what is playing.
I've tested the things mentioned in the "Satellite 5105-S901 Sound is very low (even on max volume) using supplied Toshiba driver" thread with no success (including Loudness Equalization).
I'm running Vista Business 32bit, and have tried the driver_audio_realtek26117B.exe, driver_audio_realtek_TC00157600B.exe, and Vista_Win7_R243_x86.exe driver files, and also used the util_mute_off_25847B.exe utility.
Enabling mute makes the already faint sounds go completely silent, so I don't think it's a mute issue.
Jack detection does work, I can see that in the Realtek HD Audio Manager program. Using that program's sound test (Speaker Configuration) I have to go to a completely silent room, and even then I only hear something in the right earphone. (I think; it's so darn low I could be imagining I hear it.)
Decreasing the sound volume slider from 100 does make the almost inaudible sound even harder to even notice, and at around 45 it is no longer audible even in a quiet room with headphones.
So it seems that I somehow need to reset the audio chip to "normal" level. Or it is broken and can't output anything more audible.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next? I can boot to XP or Linux if anyone has any ideas on how to get sound there, just to get started. (They're silent as well, I haven't done as extensive testing under those as under Vista.)

    Hello, and thanks for answering.
Yes, I have tried increasing the volume in control panel -> Realtek HD audio manager. No success.
I have used a bunch of different drivers, both from toshiba's website and realtek's.
Recently did a fresh XP install on another hard drive (don't have Vista install media), tried both 5.10.0.5869 and 5.10.0.6066 drivers (5.10.0.6066 is from march 13, 2010), sound still as low no matter what I do.
Did the really desperate thing: bought a new (used) sound module on ebay ("Toshiba Portege R500 (PPR50E-00L048EN) USB jack" on ebay.co.uk), but it has the same problem as the original one.
A hardware problem... well maybe, I was thinking perhaps the sound module doesn't get enough power from the motherboard, but since there is some sound (although very low), the USB jack on the module works, the headphone/mic jack detection works, and the diagnostics found in the Control Panel all say that the device is working OK, I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I'm guessing there is a problem with the drivers initializing the sound to a ridiculously low setting, and increasing the volume level to 100 makes it go up to a level equal to perhaps 2 in a regular system. That should be solved by a fresh install, but it isn't.
Perhaps the BIOS messes up the sound? But re-flashing the BIOS doesn't help...
    Anyone got any other ideas?
I've googled and found people having problems with low sound volume on other laptops using the ALC262 chip, but no general solution.

The L505-S5990 laptop (and other models in the L505 series line which use the Realtek HD audio drivers) have not been configured properly when they were initially shipped. This is a two step process.
First, either update to the latest Toshiba audio drivers via the Toshiba Support web site, or by downloading the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers from the Realtek website.
Second, once the audio drivers have been updated, enable "Loudness Equalization" on either the Start -->  Hardware and Sound --> Realtek HD Audio Manager --> Sound Effects tab, then click OK to save the setting change. Or on the Start -->  Hardware and Sound --> Sound --> Speaker Properties (select Speakers then the Properties button) --> Enhancements tab, scroll down the list of sound effects to enable "Loudness Equalization" then select the OK button to save the setting changes.
Once the drivers have been updated and the "Loudness Equalization" has been enabled the system sound audio level is much louder, however you may find the DVD and Audio CD audio levels are still low. No real fix for that issue yet from Toshiba other than to experiment with the various sound settings.

  • Im looking for a very specific sound for the guitar such as the guitar in stephen jerzaks miles n miles or honey and the bee by owl city HELP!!!

Im starting the recording of a new song that Ive been working on and im having some troubles. I want my scoustic guitar to sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmCuKEbbM5c that Or
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laS4dTeTnxE That
I really need to know how please if anyone knows even a little it would help
Ill try anything to get it to sound like that.
Also how do you get perfect on tempo timing? I dont know if I dont know how to use Flex time or if its not working?

If you want your guitars to sound like that, then you need to go get the guys that played those parts.
Seriously, 98% of it is the player. Experience will teach you that.
Now, beyond that... both guitars are heavily compressed. I get that same effect using my UA 1176 compressor, either the hardware one going into Logic, or the software one, after the fact. A ratio of 12:1 will get you close. Using Logics compressor, try dropping the threshold down till it's "smacking" pretty hard. Adjust attack and release to taste.
Track one sounds like it's mono... track 2 was definitely recorded in stereo (using 2 microphones in what sounds like a spaced pair, perhaps)
In addition.... a decent quality small diaphragm microphone, into a quality mic pre-amp is a must to get that kind of sonic detail. It's a very open sound, and most budget audio interfaces don't have mic pres that can record with that kind of open clarity.
Let's at least mention the guitar. Is yours a decent one?
Timing... FLEX is a powerful tool, but I have found on polyphonic material, I still get much better results actually making cuts on the audio regions, scooting them around by a sub-frame or so, and re-drawing the regions boarders, and add cross fades.
