Very Low 3dMark2001 score w/ MSI GeForce4 MX440SE-T

HELP!!
My System:
AMD Athlon xp 2000+
ASUS A7V333
256 DDR 333MHz Kingston RAM(Latency 2.5)
(MS-8878)MSI Geforce4 MX440SE-T
And With that system I am getting very low scores about 4070 at 3Dmark2001 SE! It seems to me impossible, it is near to my old Geforce 2MX.
I think there is some problem with my configuration, but yet I couldn't find anything.I tried alot of things, checked all drivers they are all up to date.(Via 4in1 drives:latest hyperion thing,NVidia WHQL certf. 40.72. etc..)I enabled fast write, enhanced agp performance control from bios and eveything I know from display settings i.e. Antialiasing disabled, d3d tweaked and still the problem persists.
I need someone who can help me under these hard and strange conditions.. ?(

I have to agree with sqersch, I've run at 60 mhz and got way more than 60 fps, refresh rate doesn't have alot to do with card performance.  Sure you get a fps boost when you increase the refresh rate but nothing significant and it certainly doesn't "cap" the frame rate, it can just improve it slightly.  Besides about the only thing you would want to increase the refresh rate for is so that it would be easier on the eyes, (less flicker).  As for the guy complaining about his benchmark, what exactly do you expect to get with an mx version of a geforce 4?  I'm not saying that score isn't wrong, just wondering what score you hope to achieve with an mx card.
Geforce system specs:
Msi Kt3 Ultra 2-R with amd athlon xp 2200+ (overclocked to 1.98)
Msi geforce 4 ti4200 128 mb (overclocked to 300/590)

  • Very low 3DMarks03 benchmark with MSI Ti4200TD 4x GPU

Very low 3DMarks03 benchmark with MSI Ti4200TD 4x GPU
I have download the lastest demo version of 3DMarks03 from futuremark.com and have downloaded the latest DirectX 9.0 from Microsoft.
After downloading both applications, I have update my DirectX 9.0 first before installin 3DMarks03 in my com.
After all installation is done, I have test the Benchmark for my AGP card which is MSI's Ti-4200TD 4x 128MB and the results was worse than expectations.
The first test was ok and I managed to hit rather high points of nearly 200fps for it, but the problems starts at the second test onwards... I managed to only hit at the highest point of 15fps only!!! Therefore at the end of the Test I only managed to score 1018points... ;(   and my screen starts to flicker on occasions... but I have switched to 75Hz for my refresh rate... :O
And the very funny thing is that I have no problems driving games like Unreal Tournament 2003...  ?(
My first query here is whether there's anything to do with DirectX 9.0(I have de-activate and re-activate directdraw after each restart) or is it because that I did not reinstall the Card driver as in Settings> Advanced Options> DirectX version still shows DirectX 8.1 or better... By the way, the driver was the latest version which I've download from MSI website and I have switch of SBA already...
My next query is whether because 3DMarks03 or DirectX 9.0 is not yet digitally signed as DxDiag has prompt me to get my drivers signed or DirectX 9.0 and 3Dmarks03 are not updated yet to run on nVidia based cards as I know that all Radeon 9500Pro/9700 series comes with direct 9.0 drivers and not for nVidia cards?
Hope someone could assist me... Thanks!!!

I've load and install all my motherboard drivers, SIS AGP driver ver 1.4 since my last format and before the installation of DirectX 9.0 and 3DMarks03...

  • Very low CPU scores

I made a go at this once before, but here we go again!!
My rig is scoring very low in the CPU benchmarking dept.  My main concern is 3d Mark03 and aquamark.  In 3d mark I'm scoring 250 for a CPU score, and my overall aquamark score is pretty bad too - 14288.  I was scoring ~28k with my 28000+ setup and the same vid card.  My Sandra scores seem okay, there all in line with the referance scores.  I've been thinking maybe the problem lies with my memory, since the mem and cpu are directly connected could a mem problem be disguised as a CPU issue.  I've got c'n'c enabled, but I've tried it w/o it enabled-no difference.  I've tried one stick, different slots, I'm at a loss.  Thanks in advance.

I am convinced your AGP GART is your problem. If all else fails, do a fresh install of Windows and load the 4N1 4.51 before your ATI drivers. If 3dMark03 is having trouble with CPU, chances are your games are suffering too, you may not know how great your setup really is yet.
Yeah, So I've found the problem, but how to fix it??  Funnny thing is I know I've checked it before and it was @ 8x, but I've also had to change it bacj to 8x from off before.  I polly took it for granted that it changed to 8x.  My bios is 1.2.  I'm glad to hear from you and flam3h that your OCZ is working fine, I have always liked OCZ and really didn't want to give it up.

  • Need help... GPU very low benchmark scores... my MSI Board the bottleneck?

Both the GPU is on a default clock speed.
    Things I also notice
During benchmark or gaming, GPU2 is 15c hotter
I experience some glitches during gaming, like in Far Cry 3 the NPC movement goes retarded SOMETIMES (for example when they try to do something, their animation gets glitched and its like they are moving back and forth ultra fast) - have only played the game for 30mins but I could see this happen to NPCs.
Also in Crysis 2 and Assassin's Creed 3, sometimes the graphics goes retarded like in AC3 the walls and the characters gets rumbled up while in Crysis 2 the graphics gets some artifact - The problem gets solve if I restart the game. It happens sometimes.
Well I just disabled SLI and tried another benchmark on each card (moving my monitor cable to each GPU)
Each card averages around 980 Score at Heaven. Ultra Quality and Extreme Tessel at 1080p 8xAA. And I think this is kinda low? Because I saw other people have around 1300 iirc.
Right now while Heaven is still at the background
    GPU2 TOP
    Graphics  405 MHz
    Memory 324 MHz
    Temp 45c
    GPU1 BOTTOM (Testing this GPU)
    Graphics 1306 MHz
    Memory 3505 MHz
    Temp 72c
When I tested GPU2 TOP the results are similar except I think GPU1 is around 38c
Please help me out, what should I do?
I'm thinking maybe my motherboard is bottlenecking my GPUs? I have OC Genie ON at 4.2Ghz. Using both GPU on the native x16 slots (base on the manual).
    Please help.

    Sometimes a reflash can straighten things out. Recommend to reflash using M-Flash BIOS + ME option with the archive given here;
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169796.msg1253345#msg1253345
Re-install the ME driver after the flash.
What does GPU-Z show for GPU1 and GPU2 for bandwidth? Recommend to place the cooler running card closest to the CPU when running SLI.
Have you tried each card individually in the PCI-E5 slot as well as in the PCI-E1 slot? If in PCI-E5 both run fine at 8X with no issues noted, you might try another SLI bridge.
With a Z68 and 2700k, GTX 480's (reference) in Gen2 SLI, 1920X1080, 47X, 1866 RAM, Heaven 4.0 test was 1604, Valley was 2709. With GTX 680's in Gen2 (reference) installed, Heaven was 2554, Valley 4674. There is definately something wrong if those GTX 480's were beating out your GTX 770's.

Also, do you know for sure that your pc3200 memory is running at full speed (ie. 400MHz) and is not using some other fsb:mem ratio of 4:3 or 5:4?
The given score is with every non-essential background process and service diasbled (though it makes very little difference). DRAM is running at 1:1 (ie 400). Tried 5:4 with FSB=230 (max stable at stock voltage). Gains a little (CPU), loses a little (RAM), doesn't make much difference in the end. IOW, everything is running at specs now.
Also, (to ToxicTaz) it's not a SP.
I noticed a peculiar thing, though. When I ran Aida and checked video mem speed, it reported, as "actual speed", some odd number quite a bit lower than 850 (something like 736). This is in 2D mode of course (but memory speed should be the same). Anyway, now I cannot duplicate it. Could it be that the memory is stepping down on its own accord? GPU, yes, but I didn't think memory could do that. GPU doesn't get too hot either (~48 deg right after 3dmark3). Is there a way I can check "actual" memory speed during 3D testing, if there is even such a thing?
Mind you I can OC memory upto 930 OC and it passes nVidia test and seems to be running fine at that. But if it's lowering down behind my back, that would explain it.

  • Very low Memory Scores PC4000.. Help...

    Hi guys...
I have a question... I have 2x512MB PC4000 memory modules running 1:1 @ 250fsb (see my signature) and the scores I get from Sisoft Sandra Memory Bandwith is 3384 / 3381.
    CAS Latency 2.5
    Ras to CAS 4
    Cycle 8
    Bank Cycle 7
    and is running un 2T...
If I turn things up a bit to 1T instead of 2T, my scores jump to 3761MB/s, but the PC becomes unstable and is not anywhere near 5400 other people are getting...
The real question is WHY the reference score in Sisoft Sandra depicting a board with PC3200 memory and a board using an Nforce 3 Pro 150 has memory scores of 5426/5338, clearly very superior to my scores, whilst I think my configuration is far better...
Can anyone help me to figure what's going on? I really appreciate the help.
    Best regards,
    Carlitos
    System specs:
    Athlon AMD 64 3200+ @ 2250Mhz (250x9)

    Ati Radeon 9800 Pro, 128MB, 419/720
    Enermax 480W PS
    Dell 19" Vivitron

Its pretty simple actually...Its the fact you are running at 2T.
That setting means the world for A64's and will give you ~10% more memory bandwidth.
All that of course if your memory and board can handle these timings and frequency.
Trust me, running 230 HT with 1T will give you same bandwidth as 250 at 2T.
    Im running 1T at 225 and i get 3400 @ Sandra benchmark.
So my advice is, put 1T for starters, and then work your way up the HT, with increasing voltages accordingly. When you have reached the limit of 1T, this will be your max o/c.
2T is not even worth trying or benching at...
Try it and post your results.

  • MSI Geforce4 MX440SE-T

I installed it using the drivers on the cd.   They did not work.  I got vertical lines on my display and only using 4-bit at 640X480.  I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia and received the same results.  I downloaded the drivers from MSI website and finally got good results.  Everything seemed to work fine.  I turned the computer off.  Later on I turned the computer back on and got the SAME VERTICAL LINES.

  • K8n neo3 & geforce4 mx440se - can't get to work agp at 4x

    I have some questions:
How do you enable agr slot in k8n neo3?
How do you verify that is running at agp 4x or 8x?
When I open Control panel/display/MSI information in AGP/PCIE information none of the options are marked.
i've tried 6681 drivers (reccomended in the user guide) and the screen went black when windows loaded, so I installed other drivers. I also updated the vga bios.
    System Information:
    Mainboard Manufacturer    MSI
    Mainboard Model Name    MS-7135 (K8N Neo3-F)
    Mainboard BIOS Vendor    Phoenix
    Mainboard BIOS Version    1.10
    VGA Card Manufacturer    MSI
VGA Card Model Name                    MS-8847 (GeForce4 MX440 SE)
    VGA Card BIOS Vendor    NVIDIA
    VGA Card BIOS Version    4.17.20.13.00
    VGA Card Driver Version               4345
    Athlon64 2800+
    512MB kingston DDR
    WindowsXP SP2

I agree that my msi geforce4 mx440se is a piece of poo, but I get angry when this stupid agp card doesn't work ok with such a wonderful motherboard (k8n neo3). Even in windowsXP some applications run very slow, that's a major problem.
I could resolve the problem until I get a pcie card: good and bad news!
    The agr works fine now.
While I was seaching for information I found in www.msi.com.tw, in the K8N Neo3 webpage a link to the Test Report. I followed it and open there a file named vga.pdf
And I discovered that MSI say something different from what they do in the user's manual.
    In the user's manual:
GeForce 4 MX 440 (MSI MS-8847) passed the tests with  6.6.8.1 drivers and 4.17.0045 bios .
(vga nº 43 in the list)
    In the vga.pdf:
GeForce 4 MX 440 (MSI MS-8847) passed the tests with  2.9.5.8 drivers and 4.17.0045 bios.
(agp nº 18 in the list)
MSI made a huge mistake here (the driver version is very different).
So I installed the oldest drivers I had: 3.1.0.0 drivers (they were in the VGA's installation CD, released in 07/30/2002)
Then I tested with several games and the system worked better.
The con is I can't upgrade the drivers because I will have problems again.
I think MSI should pay more attention when they print something.

  • MSI GTX560ti Hawk low 3dmark11 score

I recently purchased MSI GTX560ti Hawk. I ran 3dmark11 on it and on performance mode, I only got P1650 score. The graphics score is very low and the FPS averaged around 6-7.
    Here is my specs:
    Asus P5Q motherboard
    Gigabyte Odin GT 550w PSU
    Intel Q9550 oc@ 3.67GHz
    Kingston DDR2 2x2GB @ 800MHz
    Intel X25-M 160GB SSD
    MSI GTX560ti Hawk
I know the package box suggested using a minimum 600W PSU but I managed to boot into windows and play games with my 550W. I can run Assassin Creed Brotherhood and Shogun 2 on very high graphic setting.
Could the very low 3dmark11 graphics score due to the low PSU power supply? Please help

I just bumped the core voltage up block by block from +0 to +150 on Afterburner 2.2.0 beta 3.
I tested Heaven DX11 benchmark on all of those voltages and there were artifacts in all of them (running VGA default clocks). But there were less artifacts as the core voltage went up.
Is my PSU not supplying enough power?

could be , but basically should be more than enough if the stats can be trusted.
Test the VGA in another machine[who has a better PSU, with strong single rail] then see how its goes there

  • MSI Twin Frozr 780 throttling at very low power target

    Hello
I bought 2 twin frozr cards and have the problem that they are throttling at very low TDP percentage.
They start to undervolt and underclock at around 85% power TDP according to gpu-z.
I have power limit set to 103 in afterburner.
I I look at afterburner power target % it shows 102 when gpu-z and kombustor and evga oc scanner shows 85%.
    1. Why different values in gpu-z and afterburner. Which one is correct?
    2. Why are the cards throttling so early at low TDP?
    Br Anders

    Quote
My 2 cards show boost clockrate in afterburner and gpuz same 1032, 1019.
That's already way above N780 TF 3GD5/OC (1006MHz in oc mode) or N780 TF 3GD5 (941MHz in oc mode) specs so what should be the problem.
    Quote
Running heaven bench my gpu load is 98-99 on both cards. My powe consumption is around 85 in afterburner and 70 in gpuz.
That's surely not an OSD ingame reading. 85% TDP at 99% load is about impossible. Did you use Afterburner OSD?
Again GPU Boost 2.0 is very complex and does not result in the same clockrate in any application.
Stop with this cheating stuff there is no cheating involved. Also I asked for your system specs.

  • Msi KT3 MoBo / MSI geForce4 TI 4200 Problem

Hello, hopefully someone can help me.  I am having a rather unusual problem.  Least I think it is.  I have a MSI kt3 ultra2 motherboard, 512 meg ddr 2100 crucial ram.  AMD XP 2000+ CPU and an MSI Geforce4 TI4200 video card.  First of all, what agp settings should i use?  4x? 2x?.  Secondly, should i enable agp fast writes?  And last, what are the other 2 settings in the agp setup in the bios which are like 1/2 or 2/3?
I also ran mad onions 3d mark 2001 SE and got a score of 4898!  This seems a little low to me.  Comparing online, I should be getting scores rannging from 9000 to 13000.  I have installed Nvidia Detonator drivers but they are the latest beta drivers.  Are these bad drivers?  None of my games ever freeze except for Soldier of Fortune 2.  It slows way down and when i ctrl+alt+del, it says i am using 100% cpu usage.  Can anyone help me?  I just want my system i bought a week ago to run at its full potential and have nowhere else to turn.

I am using Windows XP Pro.  I am running the 3d Mark 2001 SE with a 1024 resolution and no AA.  I am also using a 32bpp color depth.  The defaults when you load the program up for the first time basically.  I never did get a patch for SOF II although I should have.  Man do I fell like such a n00b.
Hey Jamie B, you said i should "disable support for advanced cpu controls is NOT checked".  Where is that at?
Thanks to all who have replied. :D   I appreciate it.
