hi I have a i phone 5 which is 6 months old and I keep getting a crackling noise when I am on a call

Blackberry 8320 crashes & reboots during voice calls

I have a 8320 on T-mobile, the phone has worked well for well over a year. Over the last few months, the phone has begun to hard lock & reboot during voice calls. This issue happened suddenly, e.g. over the first year it never happened. Now, it happens all the time. I did update the phone to v4.5, but there is not correlation to the update to 4.5 and the issue occuring (it was working well with 4.5 for some time before the issue started up)
Basically, given a voice call which lasts over 60 seconds, there is about a 50% chance the phone will grey-screen and reboot.
Carrier: T-Mobile
Curve 8320, v4.5.0.81 (platform 2.7.0.78)
File free: 14268148 (after recent battery out reboot)
Application: no user-installed apps... just whatever comes w/ T-mo
After the issue started occuring, (per suggestion on the forums) I replaced the battery with a brand new Blackberry CS-2 battery... issue still occurs.
This is my wife's phone. There are no additional apps installed. It's basically used for SMS, brickbreaker, and voice calls (in that order...). No WiFI, no BT, no email. I really don't want to have to replace this phone, but it has become basically useless.
Any ideas or suggestions to try?

Actually, my wife now tells me that it has been happening almost right after I updated it to 4.5... so maybe there is a correlation.
I don't see the previous software on T-Mobile's site. Does anyone know how I can revert the phone to the older revision?

Thanks cor-el! I had tried that out, but was turned off by the different workflow (can't click Tab to select the address suggestions) and assumed by the look that I couldn't use my Smart Keywords for searches.
In fact, the workflow isn't that much bulkier and the Location Bar is fully functional:

IPhone 5s screen flashes on and off during voice calls?

Operation is perfect with every other app except whenever the phone detects I'm making or receiving a voice call. No problem on facetime.
The screen will instantly black out and to bring it back I have to press the main button, then screen will reappear but only for an instant before blacking out again.
It does not matter if the phone has been in standby or if I've been actively using it as the call comes in.
Its about the most frustrating thing I can imagine.
One clue, while I'm talking the phone will often mute itself as if my cheek activates the mute function.
I use no screen protector but I do use a case, it still does it when I take the phone out though.
It has done this since new and through at least one software update

My wife rang Apple and while both of us spoke to Apple on the land line using hands free and spoke to each other using our iPhone 5s we were able to see that my big paws shadowed the proximity sensor each time I moved in to stab a button! Problem solved! I didn't even know there was a proximity sensor and your reply would have led me to it, thanks.

How do you prevent your phone from locking during voice calls? Mute/unmute features? Are there any? Please help?

Here is the problem - I am often on conference calls. My company, for security reasons requires that I use the lock phone feature. However, I will be on a call, I have muted myself, then the phone locks. I then have to key in my password, and unmute my phone. This prevents me from "jumping in" the conversation appropriately. I either sound like I'm not paying attention or worse, I'm talking over someone else and seem rude. I have tried to search for any of the following features on the iphone 5 c.
Prevent phone from locking during phone calls
Set a button on the phone as mute/unmute
Find a headset that has a mute/unmute feature
I am not the only one at my company struggling with this so I'm thinking others might be too and that there is a solution!

Sounds like you need to upgrade to the iPhone 5s
The 5s has Touch ID
You can unlock your phone with your finger instead of typing in a key code
No swiping to unlock either, just touch the home button
You can enrol multiple fingers as well

That being said, as desiel vdub posted if the phone is up to your face, the proximity sensor should turn the screen off
And when you lower the phone turn it back on again
Not sure about the phone locking when your on a call doesn't sound right

Can't use speaker during phone call

Hi,
I'm facing a problem with my Z1 Compact running FW build 14.3.A.0.757 with bluetooth on and my Sony SBH 52 headset (but problem should be the same with any bluetooth headset.
Problem is occuring during a phone call, any time I'm trying to activate the phone speaker instead of the bluetooth device, sound is coming to the speaker but after few seconds, switch back to bluetooth. Re-eanbling the speaker, it works for few seconds and switch back again to bluetooth!
Is it a known bug ? Will it be fixed soon ?

N73 auto switch off during voice call

I know there's a topic about this auto switch off, but the reply didn't answer anything specific about this..
My N73 am using the latest firmware, the phone is superb, only if this problem doesn't occur.. It happen when I was in the middle of a conversation, and suddenly there's no voice on the other line, I tot it was my telco problem, and then when I was about to push the end call button, I only realise my phone has auto switch off itself.. Zzz.. This happen not once, but very frequently, and I'm puzzled cause sometimes I can chat for a very long time without a problem, and sometimes the auto off problem occurs many times in a day..

The best thing you can do is book the handset into a NSC for the handset to be checked out.

Cannot hear using earpiece speaker during a call.

Sometimes earpiece speaker stops working after which I use a earphone or on loud speaker mode to attend a call. This happens and fix itself all of the sudden. How to fix it permanently ?

I agree with @Uliwooly - here are further steps on performing the repair with PC / MAC.
Running the software repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps
Running the software repair on Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia
Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the
following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the
continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that
you are holding the relevant button down before during and
after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.

Noisy voice call on Lumia 720

I have Lumia 720 phone and most of the time there is noise during voice calls. When I use same sim in my old nokia 6233 it works fine. It also works fine on my wife's Lumia 620. I even tried getting new sim issued from Vodafone but still same problem.
Please tell me how to get rid of this problem?

Voice call issue

I have had my Pixi for just over a week. I've noticed that during voice calls on my pixi (talking to someone or even calling my voicemail, both w/ speakerphone on or off), there is some weird noise while the other person is speaking (not sure how to describe it, other than its kinda of a static sound & there isn't any distortion of voice). It's distracting & makes it hard to understand everything that is being said (not super bad though but still). The best way I can describe the noise it that it is like the volume is turned up to loud, but it does it no matter what volume it is set at, just less so if lower & more so when someone enunciates something more.
There is no issue when I watch YouTube videos or vids I took with the phone or Sprint navigation, or ringers. Only during calls. I do not use Bluetooth or anything like that, have not even used headphones with the phone. I should have good signal, as I never had issues before I got this phone & although sometimes it says my signal is low, it still works (the internet, apps, etc) just fine. But the signal varies (sometimes as much as a 3-4 bar difference) sometimes even when I am staying in the same spot.
I've looked around to see if anyone else has a similar issue w/ a solution & can't seem to find an answer. Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate it!

If the other applications are using the speaker fine. Does this issue happen when you use the speaker on a call? If so, it could be the device. Otherwise, if the issue only happens when your on a call, whether using the speakerphone, headset, or hold it to your ear, it could be the carrier.
I would first try a restart on the device through the Device Info> Reset Options> Restart.
There is also an interactive test for the audio on the device. If you go to Device Info> tap on the top left Preferences> Tests> Interactive Tests> Audio. This will test your device for all the audio outputs.
If you have a failure or any errors reported from the tests, you can send the report to Palm through the device. (instructions will appear if the test fails)
I would consider replacing the device if it is a device info. It sounds like a hardware issue or a carrier issue.

Voice Calls Breaking Up on AT&T in the US

This is a continuation of the thread I started below:

To summarize, voices break up(or cut in and out) when I am on a voice call. I live in the Northern NJ area and I haven't traveled lately so I haven't had a chance to see if I have this problem outside my area.
I determined that the problem is not with my iPhone for the reasons below.
1. I exchanged the iPhone for a new one and experienced the same exact problem.
2. I put my SIM card in another GSM phone(Nokia N70) and experienced the same problem when I used the Nokia phone for voice calls on the AT&T network.
Does anyone else experience this symptom on AT&T voice calls in other parts of the US?
I am planning to get a cell ranger signal booster to see if it helps.

I live and work 30 miles apart in California. I have noticed that voice calls are good were I live but break up were I work. I also noticed that the 3G signal is weaker were I work.
The last few days at work were very windy and the voice call broke up a lot to the point were I disabled 3G just to hear the person I was talking to. For some reason the wind seems to affect the quality of the voice 3G.
Side Note: Since my office is in a area were 3G is not that stable the signal will keep switching from EDGE and 3G when I'm inside my building. This seems to were the battery down faster so I found it better to keep 3G off when I'm at work. This does not happen in my home town were I get a great 3G signal.
