Very poor cell coverage, and the tower is reported a few miles down the road

Voice calls, even with 3 bars, whether it shows 1x or 3G, on the iPhone4S are worthless. The calls will drop out, not might. Other parties can't hear me when they do connect. I contacted VZ while at work, but they want me to t-shoot from home (ho hum...and do what? I can't update roaming, although I question I'm trying to hit a roaming tower from home), the call will fail. What does it take to have VZ do a signal strength test in my area and determine what can be done? I certainly can't call from home, and there is no live chat available, even though it's during the reported available times. I can't say AT&T is much better, but if any friends ever show up with an AT&T phone, I'll sure closely examine their service.

x-street closest to my residence = Empire Grade Road and Conifer Lane.
Info I find on line about cell tower placement puts one at about 12600 Empire Grade Rd, which is only a few miles from me.
I updated roaming capability this morning while in an area of acceptable signal, but I don't know that roaming matters when I am hitting (albeit poorly) a VZ tower nearby.
I am in the mountains, but on the top ridge line, not in a canyon.
All I ask is a signal strength assessment in this immediate area; I'm sure other users cannot use their phones, either.

    No network can guarantee that you can get a signal inside a building of any kind, only outside your home. There are a few phones, that have wifi calling, but you will have to ring EE to see if they can supply you with a booster, unfortunately. What phone do you have?

    I've never experienced the horrific problems some folk have claimed but then I never put compound clips within compound clips.
    In  fact, until today I had never made a compound clip! 

  • Very Poor CDMA coverage - Downtown Sterling, MA

    Hoping a VZW rep can help, I'm fed up with VZW even as it is an otherwise flawless carrier.
    My home in Sterling, MA is located between two towers and nothing I do seems to help with calls.  They're dropping, spotty, and my phone is utterly unreliable. Checking the signal strength of the network, it's always ~ -90 to -100 dBm, which results in 0-2 bars, and the phone constantly switching towers and looking for service.  I've tried PRL updates, different areas of the apartment, and even going outside; but the problems persist.  Once I get out of the downtown area, the problems go away.
    3G doesn't seem to be an issue, as I get 3-4 bars with that service.  4G hasn't been rolled out here yet.
    It's becoming more and more a pain, as I'm currently working from home and use VZW to conduct business.  I had issues with two phones now, my Droid A885, and now the Droid 3.  I've tried troubleshooting the phones, but it's obvious it's a coverage issue, and not a phone issue.  Family in the area, which I ended up reccomending VZW service too, have also been having these issues.
    Is there anything VZW can do rectify the problem?  Are there any options for me, besides switching carriers / using my land line?

    That is horrible to have poor service in and around your home I understand how you would need your device there most of all! Thank you for the troubleshooting that you have already done you've helped narrow down what could be causing this issue.
    Have you ever had good service in or around your apartment? Since other devices are also having a issue there has a trouble ticket ever been opened for your home location?
    What a trouble ticket is we send a engineer out to your location they test the signal outside and at the tower to see if any improvements can be made. To open a trouble ticket please PM me and I'll get your account information or call Technical Support at 800-922-0204.
    Another way to boost signal in your apartment would be a Network Extender. Here's a link for that device. It's a great help in signal challenged locations.

  • Blackberry Link for Q10 with Outlook Sync has very poor performanc​e and not good Functional​ity

    I am wondering if anyone has tested this software. Blackberry Sync software for my previous phones were wonderful. I can sync my contacts and calender in a very short time. With this new Blackberry Link it takes about 1 1/2 hours Plus to complete. And when it does complete - it duplicates entries which I did not want.
    Plus what is missing is the following:
        1. I am not able to say Update both Device and Outlook any longer. This functionality is gone.
    My question: How does it do a two way sync if I only have a choice to use what I have on my phone or on outlook only
    I want to be able to update my Outlook contacts with changes and addition I made on my Q10 phone and update my device with changes I made to Outlook.
    Why did Blackberry remove this very flexible choice? Plus Blackberry Link has very poor performance.
    I work for a large company and I do Enterpirse Software testing daily. Performance is the number one complaint for customers on top of the UI and functionality.

    A thing I noticed when I opened Descktop Software for the first time since the new Z30 is that the old application thinks it is looking for a Z30.  I havent even opened the application since before I got the new device.  The only way it could think I have a Z30 is if it is using a lot of the same files as Blackberry Link.   That is some pretty terrible software development practices in my opinion.  I'm going to take your suggestion and uninstall both apps, run a registry cleaner and reinstall BB Link and I bet it works a lot better afterwards.

    Still all of the same errors with regard to syncing outlook contacts and Schedules.  I will post all of the error messages I recieve here as I see them.  Application is always started by connecting device with USB cable.

    Change to sync contacts only, 1-way sync to computer, always use device data

    Application went through the whole process and hung for about 15 minutes and then completed successfuly syncing contacts only.
    Change to callendar only.  Sync completed successfuly.  No hang or errors. very quick.
    A new recurring appointment on the device was not transferred to the computer.  
    Sync callendar again, completed successfuly.
    Appointment is still not transferred to computer.
    So far I've spent an hour tonight trying to sync my contacts and appointment changes from just one day.  I'm not thrilled.

    I checked and here, aftere defining a new default format with vertical lines set to none, this format is used when I cvreate a new table.
    But the same with horizontal lines doesn't apply.

  • TS1398 My wifi signal in my iphone 4 is very poor it wasn't the same before. When ever I try to play video it stopes streaming. I hope apple has an answer for this.

    I do not experience any problem browsing Internet or using social networks via wifi but whenever I play a video from YouTube or any other source it stopes streaming after playing 10 to 15 sec video, doesn't matter how close I am from the homehub or which Internet provider I am using. Recently I am experiencing that my phone became slow after installing the new iOS 6.1.2. Application takes time to open. Sometimes application closes on there won without any command. The key l board became slower. I wish I could get the previous version of iOS which was perfect for my iPhone 4.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost       
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    - Reset all settings

  • IOS6... How do I see the full screen when watching youtube videos and second the map quality is very poor, foggy most of the time and images overlap to each other... Can I restore to IOS6 if these problems can not be solved?

    I just upgraded to IOS6 and I have some difficulties that I never had on IOS5:

    No, there is no legitimate way to downgrade iOS to an earlier version.
    Be patient, Apple will eventually get around to fixing the "bugs" in iOS 6.

    After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with cellular network issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
    iPhone cellular data connection issues - Apple Support
    Cellular data issues can include:
    No connection over cellular network, but works over Wi-Fi
    Unable to load pages in Safari
    Unable to use email over cellular
    Slow data connection over cellular
    Intermittent cellular data connection
    Unable to join 3G/4G/LTE network
    "Unable to activate cellular data connection" alert message
    Resolution
    Follow these steps for help with cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, test to see if your iPhone still has the issue.
    Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
    Make sure that your software is up to date:
    Check for a Carrier Settings Update: Tap Settings > General > About.
    Check for an iOS Software Update: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.

    I had reception anywhere in the hose, but now I must be within line of sight to have wifi.
    I never dropped, changed or did anything hut upgrade the software when Apple said i should.
    My ipad is now nothing more than my biggest frustration
    I have done everything i could find, like switch off both the pad and router, reset ipad,forget  network, delete history, delete cookies, etc etc .....
    Apple tries to blame the problem on the user or the environment ..... Only problem .... We have 2 devices, of which one is very happy and one is very bad bad bad to say the least!-

    Too bad you didn't seek us out a little sooner.  We could have tried to assist you with rigging up some amplifiers and antennas to improve your reception in your home.  If you are in a fully serviced area then there is VZW signal floating around, you just need a way to capture it since it doesn't sound like it is penetrating into your home on its own.

  • I tried to use borders, I pick out the cell(s) and the border shows but when i change cells, the border goes away????

    Bordersdo not stay when I goon to another cell

    To set the border for one, or more, cell(s) you have to:
    - make the selection (of cells)
    - the make a selection from each of the border selection tools
      + The borders to highligh
      + the border style
      + the weight
      + the color (default is gray so you have to select black if you want the dark)

  • Report poor data coverage

    Where can I report poor data coverage for my verizon 4G LTE hotspot?
    Salem Oregon, 97305.
    Specifically the Corner of Cordon Rd and Hazelgreen Rd NE.  A little place called EZ Orchards has very poor data coverage. DOesn't matter inside, outside or upside down they unit get only 1 bar of data and cycle between 4G LTE AND 3G, it even show 1x evdo and basically useless.

        We're here to do a service checkup nglayton! May I ask have you contacted our customer service dept yet? If not then let's look into this together. May I ask what model hotspot/jetpack do you have? Any liquid/physical damage on the device? Do you have any issues in another area outside of the zip code that you provided? As you share the details then we can investigate.
