Very Quiet Audio During Playback

Hi,
Just trying out my iPod 5G and an Apple AV cable.
Video is fine but audio is very very quiet. Have to have the iPod set to virtually full volume and TV up to about 50 (normal volume on TV is 12-15) to get anything like listenable audio.
The videos are fine through headphones with sound when volume is set to approx 25%.
I am using Handbrake on the Mac to encode into MPEG-4 format.
Any ideas ???

  • NO AUDIO DURING PLAYBACK ON TIMELINE

Ever since I tried using the Narration tool in Premiere Elements 12, I have had nothing but problems with audio.  The narration tool itself cause Premiere to crash.  I decided not to use it again, but I continue to have problems.  I can hear audio in the clips when i play them through the source monitor, but if I drop it on the timeline, then there is no audio during playback.  I've already checked my audio output settings and I've already tried restarting Elements and my Macbook.  I've even tried to change the audio output devices just to make sure I didn't screw it up when trying to activate the microphone for narration.  Please help!
*NOTE - this is only a problem in the current project.  When I made a new project, it played back fine.  The problem is that I have hundreds of assets that I've renamed with descriptive file names, as opposed to the formatted file name the camera gave them.

    Good morning Steve.
Yes, there is a waveform on the clips.  However, when I open Audio Mixer, I do not see any audio registering.
Also, I do not have a USB microphone plugged into my computer.
Finally, I have done the Audio Hardware check.  I have tried using both "Built in Output" and "System Default Input/Output" but neither works.
Not sure if it helps to know this, but I have also tried to add music files to both Audio 1 track and also Soundtrack track.  Neither one will play back audio on the timeline, even though I can clearly see the waveform on the file.  It also does not register on the audio mixer.  This tells me that it;s definitely an issue with this specific timeline.  Is there any setting or mute button I may have accidentally changed?  None of the mute buttons are checked off in the audio mixer.

  • NO AUDIO during playback after converting the VIDEO using Creative Video Conver

    I have a ZEN 2GB/4GB/8GB/6GB/32GB.
I tried to convert video from a dvd using Creative Video Converter.
The video is fine but there is no audio during playback.
    What am I doing wrong?

"If this is the case, the original video file may be in a format that contains muxed (multiplexed) audio and video, and cannot be exported with audio."..."If the format is "MPEG1 Muxed" or "MPEG2 Muxed," the audio portion of the file may not be retained with QuickTime Pro or iMovie."
I have read that article and I thought it ment that the sound will work after you convert to the MPEG4 format, which I did.
Are you saying that if it starts out as "Muxed audio" then there is no way to convert it?
If that is the case then in what situation would you need to use the Videora Converter?
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • No audio during playback

Hello all, I am extremely consfused as to what is wrong with the premiere pro settings. I have a blackmagic intensity pro installed. I can use it just fine to capture video. No matter what audio files or Videos I use, the audio meters show audio during playback, but my speakers are not playing anything. I have searched for a solution. My only guess is that the program is pointing audio to the blackmagic intensity pro and not to my audio card. Any suggestions?

I talked to Blackmagic about this problem and was told that they could only guarantee audio/video sync if their output was used so their presets only let you do this. With the Decklink studio this is a bit of a pain if you are working in 5.1 as there are only 4 analogue outs, I had to build a rack of D to As to get my monitoring working.

  • Nudging audio during playback with audio plugins applied causes crash

    Hi,
We are having some unusual crashes at the moment in a very specific situation:
    1. An audio effect is applied to at least one track of audio. Reverb and compression cause it but not EQ.
    2. During playback
    3. Nudging an audio clip using Alt and the left and right arrow keys. One nudge is ok, several quick nudges in succession causes a crash.
The machine starts beachballing and never seems to stop. Video playback continues.
This is obviously quite easy to workaround but just wondering if anyone else is having this issue and also wanted to highlight to Adobe.

  • IDVD slideshow DVD pauses video and audio during playback...messages about sleeping DVD player

I have just burned a slideshow on iDVD from iPhoto book project. During playback, the DVD player pauses with photo visible and audio stops for same time, and then resumes after about 5 seconds. I thought the MP3 (purchased from Amazon because it was not in iTunes) format may have been the issue, so, I converted to AAC, and rebuilt slideshow from scratch using AAC music. During Preview playback, the problem does NOT exhibit...only when played from produced DVD on both computer or DVD player. I only have this one pause at same time on every DVD burned. Is AIFF a probable solution? I saw a message saying DVD player "Sleeping" or "DVD player waked from sleeping" at beginning and end of this pause.

Whoa!!! I'd back up here and make sure you have your "T" s crossed before your continue with 10,000 discs! What were your bitrates for the main track and Bonus features? Did you use AC3 audio? DVD has a bitrate ceilings of 9.8 for video. Its also important you check your bitrates in a viewer to makes sure your OK.
Bitrates are the most crucial part to control in DVD.

  • Video losing sync with audio during playback

I am having a unique issue with FCP 6.0.6.
We are using this version to log and capture a switched video feed with audio
through a Black Magic DeckLink HD Extreme 3  PCI card.  Capture works fine.
But during playback the next day, the video seems to drop a frame, or lose sync
(you can see it visually) then continues playing.  The result is the video is now
out of sync with the audio.
We do a weekly 3 camera shoot which is webcast, and then later uploaded to youtube.
We have been running this setup for a number of years without issue, but this has started
becoming an issue the last 3 weeks in a row with no change to our setup.
The webcast does not experience this, which makes me think there is a sync issue
between my switcher and my FCP machine.
    Any thoughts or ideas?
    Mac Pro
    3GHz Quad Core Intel
    16 GB Ram
    OS 10.6.8

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure there was NO change? (All sorts of problems can occur if you haven't turned off automatic updates.)
In any case, you might want to run Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) to delete the FCP prefs. Sometimes they get corrupted and can cause some funky behaviors.
Otherwise, sounds like a question for Blackmagic technical support.

  • FAQ: Why is there no audio during playback?

    See this troubleshooting document:
"No sound during playback in Adobe Premiere Pro"

Just click the Mute button for just a second, then unmute it by clicking it again. This causes iChat to reassess the connection and that might do the trick.
You need iChat version 3.1.8 (445), AIM 6.1 should be on the PC and your friend needs a built in microphone in this webcam.

  • Device driver error msg at startup-get white screen w/audio during playback

PE10 has been working fine until today.
Upon startup I get an error message saying my display driver is incompatible.
I checked the driver in Windows 7-it says the driver is up to date and working fine.
When playing back a video clip I'm editing in PE10, I get a white screen in the playback area with the correct audio. When I pause the playback, the video image appears. Play = white playback screen.
    I have
    -checked the display driver
-rolled my computer back to an earlier restore point
    -uninstalled and reinstalled PE10
    -turned off my firewall
    Any other suggestions to try?

What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
    Premiere Elements 10
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
    none available
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
    Windows 7 AMD dual-core processor
AMD Radeon HD 6310 display driver
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
MVI files from camera -- all worked fine in PE10 until today - same files play fine in other players
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
    Starting up PE10
    Has this ever worked before?
    Yes, always until today.
What other software are you running?
    None
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
    No
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
I'm not techie and don't know what this means - I don't have anything mentioned in brackets
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
    no
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
Error message above happens during startup
PE10 now loads really slowly (5 minutes)
Playback in project gives white screen instead of video. Audio is fine.

  • No audio during playback in Garageband 11.

I've gone through some of the forum questions and still cannot figure out the problem. Each individual track shows playback through the volume display except for the master track (nothing is soloed or muted), and I've checked both the System preferences for the Mac and in Garageband. I've also tried to create new tracks to find a phantom soloed track, recorded on them and tried playback. I disconnected my interface, restarted the computer and Garageband a number of times -- still nothing. iTunes works, as do other Garageband projects I've saved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks!

It's been enabled and i've turned the volume up just to be sure yet the output display on the master track still shows nothing and there's still no sound.
    Thanks for the reply though.
I've copied and pasted the tracks into a new project but any other suggestion to salvage my original project would be great -- I'd rather not have to re-create all the settings, patches and plug-ins for each track since there are many of them....
    Thanks again.

  • Distorted audio during playback

has anyone else had the problem of distorted audio in itunes. when i play a song on itunes, it's totally distorted, as if the output level of is too loud. even when i turn down the volume fader, the audio is still distorted. i play the same tracks through quicktime and they're fine, so it's definately an itunes issue.
    can anyone help?
    thanks
    simon

    Hey Simon,
I've had this issue since iTunes went to version 7. I believe it may be tied to the original DRM scheme Apple used and is using. I don't know about you, but I have no issues with iTunes Plus purchases and if I rip my own CDs. Otherwise, all of the non iTunes Plus downloads distort. If I'm correct, you may see this thread vanish in the near future. I think this is potentially a huge issue when you consider a billion downloads, or however many Apple is up to now.

  • Audio playback is very quiet after Windows 8.1 upgrade on Pavilion g7

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 trial version and the audio playback is very quiet through the laptop speakers. Through headphones or played through the TV it works great.
    I have a Pavilion g7.
When I check the drivers they tell me that I have the most recent divers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, @Nautic-Al
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an audio issue with the notebook. I would like to try to help you with this.
As you're using a Trial version of Windows please read this document: HP PCs - About Beta or Preview Software.
To go along with that I will provide you this document for troubleshooting: No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8).
If that does not help you, then you'll have to revert back to the installed OS or completely upgrade to a non trial version.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Audio dropping out during playback in timeline

    Hey everyone,
I've dug through these forums and unless I just completely overlooked it I have not found a solution to this issue. I've listed my setup below and then have stated the issue I'm experiencing.
    27-inch, Mid 2011 iMac
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    AMD Radeon HD 6970 1024MB
    Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
    Currently working off of a portable 1TB G-Technology G-DRIVE via FW800.
Working in Premiere Pro CS6 Version 6.0.2
Editing in a sequence with settings:
    1920 x 1080 23.976fps (also tried in a 29.97fps timeline with same issue)
Working with footage that is 23.98fps
Working with a combination of ProRes 422 (LT) and native H.264 Quicktime files strait from a 5D Mark 3.
The issue I'm having is during playback the audio will competely drop out. The video will continue playing on just fine but the audio drops completely out. All audio levels drop as well in the audio mixer meters so it truly is losing all communication with my audio layers in the timeline.
I read in other forums to go into Finder and delete out the .caf files, re open Premiere Pro, wait for them to be recreated then carry on. I tried this approach with no luck. Deleting the .caf did not change anything. Audio is still dropping out as I try to play through my timeline. The only way to get the audio back is to pause then press play again. I have 5 total channels of audio with only 2 of those channel active.
Any ideas on what is happening would be greatly appreciated. This is incredibly frustrating have to export out a video just to be able to watch it through.

Having this annoying problem also.  Using the Space Bar to play timeline it takes pressing and holding to a count of three or trying press play three time in a row using the space bar to get ungarbled audio, or any audio at all in a normal uncomplicated sequence on the timeline.
Really annoying.  Audio used to be so simple and untaxing to a sequence.

  • Audio levels on an external monitor vary during playback when using HDMI audio

I've been having issues with movie playback using a large 1080p HDMI TV.   During playback the audio level will come in strong, go faint, then go strong again, but not on any sort of pattern I could discern.   It did this on three seperate movies legally purchased via iTunes.  I get audio and video without trouble, its just the audio goes soft when it shouldn't.
If you remember the VHS days and "MACROVISION" encoding, then you have an idea what it was doing, although it was the audio levels, not the video playback.
Is this a fault of the system, a DRM gremlin, or something else?

I think you may be onto something with the graphics card concept. The problem I am having only exists when I am working on an HD project. When I switched back to DV-NTSC then the monitor is fine during playback.
Yes, I am routing my external monitor through my DV deck, which is not an HD deck - so again, that could be another weak link in the chain.
This is the first HD project that I am editing, so obviously a few kinks still need to be worked out. My internal hard drive has 1.5 gigs of ram but I am not sure what the specs are on the graphics card.
