Very simple iTunes match question

So if I physically unsync my music from my iPad can I still listen to it on said iPad through the cloud as long as I have an Internet connection? (I obviously have an iTunes match account)

    Don't have an iPad but that's what I've done on my MacBook.  Better yet, items that I forgot about getting through iTunes years ago are fully accesible without adding any bits to my cramped hard drive.  And they all play happily through Apple TV, pumped through the stereo.
   Now I'm trying to figure out how to track my recently played items that are recently played through the cloud. I have a lot of new music that I'm playing at random though Apple TV and I'd like to make notes of the highlights.

  • ITunes match question (manual sync and iTunes library)

    Hi all
    Just noticed that iTunes match is now avaliable in Denmark, and therefore I have a few questions that I can't seem to find answers for elsewhere.
    My situation is that I have all my music on a NAS (and on at USB backup drive). Some of the music is in 128 AAC and is 320 mp3.
    On my macbook pro I have all of my music converted til 128 AAC so I can fit all of my music on my iPhone (10000 songs). All my music on my iPhone is manage manually through iTunes. I normally 1) add it to itunes, 2) transfer it to iphone and 3) remove the music again from my iTunes library. I mostly just have an empty iTunes library (since i play music from my iPhone and my Sonos system) and just use iTunes for ripping CDs and editing of tags.
    Since my iPhone is running out of space, I thought it would be a good idea to have some of my music i iCloud (iTunes match). From what I've read it is not possible to have both music transfered manually from iTunes to my iPhone and at the same time accessing music from Itunes match? What I really would like is to have 20 GB on my iPhone with the rest avaliable through iTunes match (20 GB) for when I need it. Is this possible?
    My second and most important question is about the itunes library. What happens if I connect to iTunes macth and afterwards remove all my music from my itunes library? As I just explained I prefer my itunes library to be empty unless i want to transfer music to my iPhone.
    Hope you can help me with some answers?
    Thánk You.

    That info has not been released yet but to venture a guess, I doubt any extraneous info such as comments will be used.
    Also, iTunes Match will not use your tags to identify songs. Some algorithm will analyze the audio file to match.

  • ICloud Drive vs iTunes Match questions

    So I have been looking into different ways of having my music accessible throughout all of my OS devices. From what I have seen, I can either purchase a subscription to iTunes Match, or I can just purchase additional iCloud storage. Now just for the sake of my music, I would need to purchase a 200 GB plan, costing me about $50 a year, therefore the iTunes Match subscription would be the cheaper alternative at $24.99 a year. However I do have a couple of questions regarding both options.
    Ideally, what I would like to do, is to be able to open iTunes on either my MacBook Air or my iMac, or the Music app on my iPhone or iPad, and be able to access and play any song in my entire collection. Also, syncing of playlists throughout my devices is something I desire greatly.
    Now that OS X Yosemite is out (all my devices are either running OS X Yosemite or iOS 8), I understand that file sharing is made much easier. So this led me to think that maybe I should purchase additional storage and store my music in the iCloud Drive. But here is where I start needing some clarity. Suppose I open iTunes or the Music app on a device. Will my entire collection be visible through the app(s), or would I have to access iCloud Drive and play the files from there? Also, assuming that my entire collection can be seen via the app(s), will any playlists that I create be synced? Also concerning the iPhone, if I choose to play a song, will it get downloaded from the Drive onto the device, taking up internal storage, or will it get streamed? Is there, perhaps, a way to have these app(s) continuously sync their libraries with a specific "Music" folder on iCloud Drive (with playlists being synced)?
    From what I understand from iTunes Match, all of my songs that are matched with songs from the iTunes Store will immediately be made available to me in my iTunes Library for playing. Now the songs that do not get matched: do they get uploaded to the storage that is provided by iTunes Match (25,000 songs), or do they get uploaded to my iCloud Drive? Are the songs that matched included in this 25,000 song limit, or does it only count the songs that didn't match? Will iTunes Match sync my playlists across all devices, regardless of which device the playlist was created on? Also, on the iPhone, same question as before, will songs be streamed from the storage that iTunes Match provides or will they have to be downloaded to play?
    Based on how I want to be able to access and play my music, I'm inclined to think that maybe iTunes Match is the better (and cheaper) alternative? If simply using the iCloud Drive is good enough, then I wouldn't mind paying the extra amount for storage because I'm sure I'll be taking advantage of file sharing even outside of music. iTunes Match also has the ad-free iTunes Radio which might be cool too.
    I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about this or if you have any better methods of keeping all music files organized and synced across all devices, then I'm all ears.
    P.S this is my first post so sorry if it's lengthy.

    ITunes match does not use iCloud Drive to store music. if you want to share music with all your devices, you should purchase iTunes Match. ICloud Drive provides storage for other non music data and you have 5gb free - you can purchase more if required.

  • A few iTunes Match questions no one is asking

    Ok, so if I get iTunes match, and that's how all my music is loaded to my phone, if I go to play all my songs on shuffle, is it going to trip up on me skipping like 5 songs in 3 seconds since it has to find the song and start streaming it? It just seems like having it in the cloud will actually slow it down.
    Also, I'm assuming my devices will have to have a constant and GOOD Internet connection CONSTANTLY! So if I'm in a building with no wifi (or just a password lock) and no reception, I'm screwed? No music?
    Also how will this work with apps like iMovie that referenda the song files on your device for adding music to a video you're editing?
    If I'm on 3G, am I going to be able to listen to my music and do ANYTHING else I want? Or are we going go discover we can't do two things at once, like how we found out you can't talk and use 3G at once?
    Is this going to be using data on my data plan? If so, how much? Seems stupid to pay $30 a month for 2GB of data, and to spend that all just on music?
    And how badly is this going to kill my battery? ESPECIALLY on 3G? It seems like constantly streaming and downloading is going to kill my battery twice as fast.
    And if t does 'download' my music, and if I have my phone filled with my iTunes match music and photos and apps and videos, then I go to listen to a song a already have on the phone, when it goes to download it, if I don't have enough space, will it not let me listen to it? Could I run into a problem of it downloading to many of my songs to where I have to go back and delete my last 10 songs just to make room for more songs I want to listen to now?
    These things are bothering me so much and no one is addressing them.

    "Potentially all valid issues but as far as I can tell iTunes Match still hasn't been released and Apple doesn't approve of un-announced feature "speculation" on this web site. Unless it is something on Apple.com (in which case you probably would have found it) we can't discuss it here until it has been released."
    I thought this has already been released as a beta version for developers to test out. Are you telling me that if it's up for people to test, you're not allowed to talk about it?
    and iTunes Match IS on the website. But it doesn't address all these questions!
    so I'd say the fact that it is released for testing, the software is out there, they're talking about it on the website, and i'm not speculating anything (i'm asking questions that are real concerns that are not addressed at all on Apple's site), that I should be absolutly fine asking these questions on here.
    If anyone out there is testing this iTunes Match, they can simply answer my question. This is in no way speculation, but research for answers to issues that are out there that are not being addressed.

  • Very slow itunes match

    Hi,
    Since i signed up to itunes match i experience very slow results, even on wifi and i have a 50 mbps connection.
    Downloading songs from the cloud to my ipad or iphone is extremely slow, streaming numbers the same.
    I am livinig in the Netherlands, not sure if this something has to do to which server i connect.
    Tried already to switch itunes match on and off and to reset my network connections.
    Appreciate if someone can assist.
    Rgds Bernard

    I have countless albums that are in fact available in the itunes store and they are still intollerably slow to download, even over a decent wifi connection at 50mb/s max ... my internet is just fine and I'm still having issues with receiving my content from apple's servers. I personally don't think it's an "it's not availble in our archive there for it's not as accesable/fast to retreive" issue.. it's that their server is pathically slow and probaly overloaded with people that paid 25 bucks to store their library in the cloud and are now spending way too long trouble shooting multiple issues.  I for one am taking the upgraded "matched" files and walking. this is the most dissapointing service/product they've come up with.
    I spent more time then I'd like to admit manually converting tracks (quite a few that should have matched, some not) in order to even upload compressed AAC 256 content, then tricking itunes into replacing said uploads with my higher quality files locally.. everythiing works well on my desktop and I can delete and redownload my content at the compressed quality and even upgrade certain things, but the service on my mobile devices are thus far usless... lame.

  • HT4915 iTunes Match Question

    I did not renew my iTunes Match subscription and need to know how to remove all the music I can no longer access off my iphone. Can anyone help? Thanks!

    You may need to turn off itunes match on your phone in settings.  You should also be able to swipe across a selected song, artist, or album that you do not want and see a red delete button appear. If you can not get that to work, you can go into settings and delete all your music but you'll have to re sync all your music you want.
    Tuen off iTunes Match on your phone: go to settings/iTunes & app stores/select iTunes Match off.
    To delete all music completely:  go to settings/general/usage/music (once it loads the parameters) swipe across and press delete.

  • IPad 3 iTunes Match question

    I'm just setting up my new iPad from scratch. Subscribed to iTunes Match on Mac. iPad keeps saying I don't have subscription.
    But - Mac appleID and iPad appleID are two different usernames/passwords. iPad has my username as my me.com mail address. Mac has a different personal email as my username.
    Is this the cause of the problem? If so, which one should I change?
    Thanks for any help

    Yes this is exactly the cause of the problem. iTunes Match will only work when using the same Apple ID, you have used to buy iTunes Match on your Mac. So you will have to change your Apple ID on your iPad under Settings>Store. Now you should be able to activate iTunes Match under Settings>Music. Hope this helps.

  • HT4914 Help iTunes Match Question

    After reading about this and I'm new, I was wondering would I be able to use songs from my playlists such as Spotify, Pandora, or other like lists?  I enjoy gospel music and I have many CDs as well as I utilize the mentioned sites.  If I had them all in one location this would be wonderful.  I have made different playlists for my family members because we all listen to different genres of music.  Secondly would it be wise if I chose this route iTunes Match to merge everyones music under my iCloud account or does everyone need separate accounts (with the exception of my 13 year old...lol)?  Thanks!
    P.S.  I am so new at this posting so please forgive me if I am not posting this correctly.

    You can use one account to accomodate all the songs in your library for iTunes Match as long as it will not exceed the limitation for uploading songs. You can include songs from third party sources or from CDs to be uploaded into your iTunes Match library. I recommend checking the link below for more information:

  • HT4914 iTunes Match Question

    Hello I made a mix with several songs. Will this mix be able to be uploaded in with iTunes Match?

    Is your mix in the form of a single continuous MP3?  If so, add it to your library, and you will be good to go.  Obviously it will not match anything in the store, so it will be uploaded by iTunes Match, subject to the normal limitations on uploads (can't be more than 200 MB, etc.)
    As with anything in iTunes Match, make sure that you make a backup on local storage.  Apple Legal clearly advises that Match is not to be considered a reliable backup: "You should back up all data and information on your computer or device and any peripherals prior to using iTunes Match. You expressly acknowledge and agree that all use of iTunes Match is at your sole risk. To the extent permitted by law, Apple shall have no liability with respect to your use of iTunes Match, including the inability to access matched or uploaded content."

  • HT4914 Ripping CDs and iTunes Match question

    Once I rip a CD into iTunes and it is then uploaded to iTunes Match, can the CD be deleted from my hard drive? running out of room on the laptop...

    Yes, but keep the CD on hand in case of a problem, since iTunes Match is not considered a reliable backup.
    Here is the official information from Apple:
    "iTunes Match is provided on an “AS IS” basis and may contain errors or inaccuracies that could cause failures, corruption or loss of data and/or information, including music, playlist, and play history, from your computer or device and from peripherals (including, without limitation, servers and other computers) connected thereto. You should back up all data and information on your computer or device and any peripherals prior to using iTunes Match."

  • HT4914 Itune Match question

    I have music on my Ipod Touch that is not on my computer if I subscribe to Itunes Match will that music be put into the Cloud or not? I purchased a new computer and only my most recent purchases showed up in the Cloud. Our Home Sharing is also turned on.

    You will need to have downloaded your music onto your iPad (or other device or computer) if you want to play it on that deivce whilst you don't have an internet connection - so whilst you are still connected, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637 :
    Once your iTunes Match library has finished syncing to your device, you can browse by Genius Mixes, Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums, Compilations, Composers, and Genres. When you find a Genius Mix, playlist, album, or artist you like, simply tap on the Genius Mix or song title to begin streaming that song or playlist. If you begin streaming a song from a playlist, iTunes Match will continue playing through the rest of your playlist after the initial song has finished. If you'd like to download the song or playlist to your device, simply tap the download button to the right of the song or at the bottom of the playlist.

  • ITunes Match question

    I'd like to know if this will work. If I download Matched songs in iTunes and then burn them to a CD, go back to my computer and move those songs and their files from iTunes to the trash, then import the songs from the CD, will these songs then be matched in the Cloud and no longer on my computer? Will the songs then be available for me to play from the Cloud on my iMac and my iPad?
    Thanks.

    So I'll have the matched iTunes version available to listen to without having to take up space for it on my hard drive. Thanks.

                        System.out.println("The average is: " + df.format(avg));
                        System.exit(0);
    }output looks like:
    Please enter a grade: 100
    Please enter a grade: 50
    Please enter a grade: 0
    The average is: 75.00

  • Very very simple method return question

    Using a UML tool, the following code has been generated for a method called getScores.
         //getScores
        public String[] getScores(int nCount)
            //your code goes here
            return null;
         }Can I just clarify what this method is returning here using the parameter nCount - a complete String array or just a position in the array?
    And once i've put some code in the method body, i presume the return statement will no longer be null, but either the array or position in the array?

    Can I just clarify what this method is returning here
    using the parameter nCount - a complete String array
    or just a position in the array?It is return an array of Strings.
    >
    And once i've put some code in the method body, i
    presume the return statement will no longer be null,
    but either the array or position in the array?Not automagically. You will need to return an array of Strings
