Very slow between 8pm & 3am

about a month ago, we replaced our modem because of upgrading to Blast. The modem we received is the Arris TG862 and is suppose to have the wifi built in. Since installing it, I have had to call customer service twice because of low speeds. We hooked up our previous router to it and that helped some of the time. But recently we realized that it is the worst between 8pm and 3am! Strange? Both times after the Comcast "tech support" I received, they said they had found an issue and fixed it, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Do I wait until the next 8pm rolls around and call them again? Or is there something a little more proactive I can do?

Thank you, I wish I had read that sooner, great info!  XFINITY NetworkInternet:ActiveLocal time:2014-12-28 11:7:24System Uptime:14 days 17h:46m:22secWAN IP Address(IPv4):50.157.153.118WAN Default Gateway Address(IPv4):50.157.152.1WAN IP Address(IPv6):2001:558:6017:7d:3c78:c318:da6:cdd6WAN Default Gateway Address(IPv6):fe80::1edf:fff:fe02:2de2Delegated prefix(IPv6):2601:6:3f00:3d9::/64Primary DNS Server(IPv4):75.75.75.75Secondary DNS Server(IPv4):75.75.76.76Primary DNS Server(IPv6):2001:558:feed::1Secondary DNS Server(IPv6):2001:558:feed::2WAN Link Local Address(IPv6):fe80::21d:d5ff:fe75:9204DHCP Client(IPv4):EnabledDHCP Client(IPv6):EnabledDHCP Lease Expire Time(IPv4):3d: 1h: 46mDHCP Lease Expire Time(IPv6):3d: 2h: 39mWAN MAC:00:1D5:75:92:04eMTA MAC:00:1D5:75:92:03CM MAC:00:1D5:75:92:02Initialization ProcedureInitialize Hardware:CompleteAcquire Downstream Channel:CompleteUpstream Ranging:CompleteDHCP bound:CompleteSet Time-of-Day:CompleteConfiguration File Download:CompleteRegistration:CompleteCable ModemHW Version:Vendor:BOOT Version:Core Version:Modelroduct Type:Flash Partownload Version:Serial Num: 5Arris Interactive, L.L.C.1.2.1.612.0.5.38TG862G00000000 2AAC4D5232MB7.6.86L.CTCC1BSLBB1581731DownstreamChannel Bonding ValueIndexLock StatusFrequencySNRPower LevelModulation 12345678LockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLockedLocked705.00 MHz669.00 MHz675.00 MHz681.00 MHz687.00 MHz693.00 MHz699.00 MHz711.00 MHz35.97 dB35.25 dB35.97 dB35.97 dB36.84 dB36.39 dB36.39 dB35.25 dB5.10 dBmV5.23 dBmV6.08 dBmV5.95 dBmV5.53 dBmV5.03 dBmV5.06 dBmV5.32 dBmV256QAM256QAM256QAM256QAM256QAM256QAM256QAM256QAMUpstreamChannel Bonding ValueIndexLock StatusFrequencySymbol RatePower LevelModulation 1234LockedLockedLockedLocked34.00 MHz29.20 MHz24.10 MHz17.70 MHz5120 Ksym/sec2560 Ksym/sec5120 Ksym/sec2560 Ksym/sec41.50 dBmV41.50 dBmV41.50 dBmV41.50 dBmV64QAM64QAM64QAM64QAM

  • Record playback is very slow between Flash Server and Flash

    hi all
I have done server side recording successfully with red5 flash media server and can see
that the flv record is being created properly.
Then if I try to playback the record like
NetStream.play("record.flv"), I see that stream playing is very very
slow, for both of audio and video.
And then if I try to playback the recorded file via using the
filesystem path of it, everthing seems fine.
Problem occurs when I try to sucscribe and play the stream of the record.
PS : There is no problem with playing the published stream
    (NetStream.play("streamName"))
Does anyone have an idea about this issue?
If you need any additional information, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Fabio,
    Just for confirmation.
Is the Integration Services is updated on all VMs on that particular host? IC version.
Could you please compare the vNIC properties/advanced between the functioning VM and the slowest VM network?
All VMs have one vNIC or more than one?
How are you copying out data from within the VM? \\IP Address\  OR \\DNS name\ ?
Is the file transfer issue around the same two VMs?
Could you please double check the Adapters and Bindings priority under
    Network Connection\Advanced\Advanced Settings?

In a nutshell flowplayer delivers the video through your web
browser. It does this via http protocol (port 80) and progressive
    download on any web server
Progressive download finds the video on the server and plays
it back through the player as it is being downloaded. 2 important
things to take from this are 1, the video is being downloaded to
the clients hard drive, at the end of the playback they will have a
copy of your video that they can do whatever they like to and
repost it somewhere else. 2, It plays back as it downloads, meaning
if I'm viewing a 10 minute video from your site and want to skip
ahead to the middle or end I have to wait for the whole video to
download before viewing those segments. Your web host by the way
will love you for progressive download because it will appear as
though your transfer rate has gone through the roof. Once the
request for the video is made there is no turning back, the client
gets the whole thing whether they watch it or not.
Flash media server uses the rtmp protocol. This protocol is
an open socket protocol through port 1935. This is a two way street
essentially. When the user views a video using FMS they basically
get only enough of the video to keep the connection open and
satisfy the required buffer to assure clean playback. The bytes of
info that carry the video only go to the users memory, not the hard
drive. This allows the user to jump back and forth around in the
movie without having to wait for the whole thing to download.
    Hope that helps.

  • Zen Neeon very slow between so

I don't know why my Zen Neeon takes up to a minute to change songs when on random. It seems to get stuck and won't play any song at all for even longer sometimes. At start up on the screen it can take along time to "update content" My PC hardware is all up to spec too.

If yours is 5/6GB player, the latest version is .0 available from the download section. Also, try not to have too much files in each folder around 50 file should be ok.

  • Very Slow Network access for some computers

This has me baffled, I'll try my best to explain.
We have an xserve g5 conected to xserve RAID, the xserve has gigabit ethernet.
All Client computers are also on Gigabit ethernet.
Users are all on network homes on the Server.
Most users are getting descent speeds, transfering a file from the RAID to their (network) desktop takes around 40 seconds for a 1Gb file.
However two users noticed transfer was much slower, 20 mins for the same file.
I've ruled out cable problems and hardware problems because if I transfer to the local computer harddrive the speed is up to around 1 minute.
But I've also ruled out a problem with the user account, because if the same user logs onto another mac the speeds are around 40 seconds.
I tried logging other users into the problem macs and all users drop to 20 minutes.
The only thing I can thing it could be is some problem with how those computers are binding with the server, I tried unbinding and resetting up directory access but that made no difference.
What else can I try other than re-installing?

I went ahead and did a fresh install, but this did NOT fix the problem.. I really can't think what else I can do!
Noticed in Network utility there are a lot of received errors when copying a file.
I replaced all the cables but again I don't think its can be a hardware problem because transfer rates are fine from local harddrive to server, but very slow between 2 network disks (unusually slow, considering all other computers are fast transfering the same file to the same place) HELP!

  • Im trying a home network between Mac and Win 7, but its very slow

    Hi guys,
ive searched for this for the last couple of days, but i havent found my sollution yet.
I have been trying to setup a network between my macbook and win7, and it works...i can move data.
The problem is that it is VERY slow. (2MB/sec max in the monitor app, it takes 6 minutes to transfer 1GB)
    This is my setup:
Macbook 2011 ML 10.8 (I use WiFi to the router)
    Zyxel P-2601HN-F1
Dell PC (connected thru ethernet cable to the router)
The ethernet adapter of the Dell is 192.168.1.37 and its a new cabel.
So i type in CMD-K, then smb://192.168.1.37 and connect with user and pass
I tried all the stuff i read here, like changing channels, but it stays really slow.
The crazy part is when i do both in Wifi, its almost as fast as with cable...and i DO use different ips in the smb connection
Maybe im going wired all over the studio and my house, but i would be awesome if this would work at least at 10/20MB/s, thats almost usb stick speed.
    please help,
    wendel

So i bought the Airport Extreme and hooked up all my hd's on the usb port...
the wireles upload speed from macbook to hd's is 5-6MB/s which is a lot better (40-48Mbit/s)
in the end i think its a protocol & adapter settings issue, with Windows using smb2, and apple using some old protocol from the 90's in ML 10.8.x
Also, there are a lot of (for me) complicated network adapter settings one has to know, before getting great transfer speeds between Win and OSX...so its easy to mess it up in Windows 7.
I read that Mavericks switched to smb2 too...so let's wait for all my software to be mavericks compatible and see how fast that will be with my Airport Extreme!

  • Mountain lion download is very slow and in-between it hangs of and starts from beginning. Is there a solution i have already purchased it can i download a torrent and authorize it

Mountain lion download is very slow and in-between it hangs of and starts from beginning. Is there a solution I have already purchased it can I download a torrent and authorize it. Somebody pl. Help

Exactly. Some of us don't understand the situation in India. This is a country with sickest internet speeds. The internet segment is dominated by fraudulant companies. There is no consistency that is why most of the data transfer here is through Pen drives and torrent websites. We have never seen a good downlooad speed here. And on the top of inconsistency lies the Mac book Air without a built in RJ45 port.
If i have to do it in an internet cafe it will cost me more time and money than to purchase a Mac book air itself. Apple should start giving us software loaded flash drives at least at premium.

  • Link aggregated between NAS and a switch: the Mac as a very slow access...

    Hello,
in my Office we're working with Macs and PCs and all the data is on a NAS.
    Here is our configuration:
    NAS <-link1->Switch<-Link2->Macs or PC.
Macs are connected with AFP protocol (because SMB is very slow).
We want to use Link Aggregation between the NAS and the switch (with 802.3ad procotol) but when we do that all the Macs have a very slow access to the NAS. But all is OK with the PCs.
What can we do? Is there a problem with macOS X and link aggregation?
    Thank you for your help.
    Nicolas

Sorry, not sure what the question is exactly.
You must have an Xserve, or Ethernet cards capable of Jumbo Frames for one, I assume the Switch & NAS are capable?
    Possible clues...

  • Moving files between folders is very slow

Hi, I have an iMac 2011. Processor: 2.7GHz Intel Core i5/ Memory 4GB
    OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.1
After I change my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, moving files between folders is very slow.
For example, if I move one jpg file in Desktop to Pictures folder (or just any other folders like Trash), it takes about 3 seconds.
When I was still using Mavericks, it made that Ding sound and transferred files right away. However, now, although it makes the Ding sound right away, the file is still there for 3 seconds.
I tried to clean up my mac using many apps, but they never fixed this problem.
I've also tried what I saw on this one thread. OS X File Transfers Very Slow
Go->Connect to Server then type "cifs://server-address" but it says there is a problem and did nothing. (maybe different issue)
    Please help!

There may be other issues, but you installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • Very slow speed during transferring files between two MacBook Pro by AirPort

I have a MacBooc Pro md101 and my friend have MacBook Pro early 2011 model, when we transfering something a speed is very slow,3 month ago i've the same model like his model ( Early 2011 ) and speed was very fast by airport, but now is slow ! Anyone help me or say why ? Thank you...

If it is wireless to wireless transfer it will go at less than half of the slowest connection..
Check each mac link speed to the Express.. if either of them is far away or using 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz you will lose lots of speed.

  • AP1231G-A-K9 access points - very slow throughput - Is TKIP the issue?

I recently setup our small office network using the following setup:
Cablemodem <--> router <--> 1231AP(role root bridge with wireless clients) <-> 1231AP(role non-root bridge with wireless clients)
    Code on both APs: 12.3(8)JEE
Office network generally has less than 3 wireless clients connected at any one time to either AP.
AP's are a mere 50' apart; clients are all less than 30' from either AP; they all show excellent signal and connected at 54mbps signaling rates.
All is/has been working very well & very stable with the exception of speed. We have business class service from RR, approx 25mbps dl, 2mbps ul. Any hardwired client to the router switch ports are able to download at speeds averaging 23mbps. Any wireless client connected to either AP is never able to exceed download speeds of 5mbps. With no other wireless clients connected except my one test client, I was not able to exceed 5mbps throughput from either AP that I connected to.
I can confirm that the ethernet connection between the router and root bridge is up at 100mbps-FD and not showing any errors:

Are these very slow thoughput speeds normal of this hardware combination?
I did much searching/googling and found claims that by eliminating TKIP it almost doubles the actual wireless speeds our clients can obtain. Is there any truth to this?
Any suggestions or recommendations without changing hardware would be very welcome.
    Thanks in Advance!

    =============

Ok, thanks for the explanation - I understand. But even at a 22mbps signaling rate shouldn't I be seeing throughputs greater than 5-5.5mbps especially since this location is literally 100% free of any outside interference and the interfaces definitely show the clients and non-root bridge (when connected) all being at the highest rate of 54mbps? I tried even in the same room, approximately 40' away, total line of sight, no obstructions, between my laptop and the root AP.
I disconnected the non-root bridge and connected directly to the root bridge during my testing. I was still only able to achieve approx 5.5mbps download. Adding back in the non-root bridge and re-connecting to it I notice slightly lower throughput, approx 5mbps. During testing, my laptop was the only device connected to the network, all other clients were shut off.
Here are the int stats (I've never reset the counters):
