Very slow broadband for past few weeks?
Hi for past few weeks my broadband speeds and ping been all other the place rasied a fault with bt, and the woman on the phone said interleaving with on, thats why my ping times up and down and it would take upto 48hrs to turn off.
I got the bt home hub 2 and also got a spare dlink router but the problem is well worse with the homehub ping times 30 to 50 ms higher with the homehub and speeds around 380kbs that not even 0.5mb.
Anyways to cut a long story short i dont see any where on the hub that tells me about if the interleaving is on or not, i have been with bt since last aug and i never asked for interleaving to be on.
On my dlink that says its on fast so i no interleaving aint on, 2 weeks later and its even worse now its slow all the time no matter what time of day or night and i phoned bt the other day to say to them, and was told they would phone back today but no call, my profile is 7150 my connection never drops unless i reboot the router or disconnects its self heres a tracert i just done :

Hi
Have you checked the link out here this will take you through a step by step guide to ensure the problem is not in your premises, as the fault could be in your own wiring or a faulty ADSL filter.
Although looking at your speed test results it looks like you have a good speed, what time of the day did you do the ping test? It maybe worth tring it to a number of sites and you can then maybe get an avarege, also avoid the internet peak period.

Hide DetailsWith your line attenuation you should be getting a sync speed of 16000 kbps and a profile of about 14 Meg, however it looks like you line has been capped at 1/2 a Meg, that is why your noise margin is so high ( should be around 6dB ) now this could be due to a line fault ( loss of framing/signal ) or a problem with your internal wiring.
However since you have has this problem for so long your best bet is to ring BT India on 0800 111 4567 and try and get a SFI fault raised so an Openreach broadband engineer can come and see if they can sort the problem out.

MacBook been loading slow for past few weeks.
I bought my MacBook on October 2007 with Tiger. I then upgraded to Leopard. When I did it loaded slowly, but I erased and re-installed. After that It's been pretty fast. But for the past few weeks, it been loading real slow. I tried Resetting PRAM and NVRAM but it didn't help. I also deleted all the cashes in my Library. It still didn't help. What else can I do it make to load faster?
Any help will be appreciated.Open up Activity Monitor (Applications>Utilities). Sort the processes by %CPU, and make sure *All Processes* are being shown--this option is in the upper right corner of the window. Is any process using a high amount of CPU?

My macbook pro started running very slow in the past few days
Don't know if freezes or run very slow, it always happen when i open the mac (i always leave it on sleep mode) it doesn't respond to anything and the cursor turns into the rainbow loading icon.
It takes like ten to twenty minutes to respond if i've clicked on safari or any aplication to open.
The solution i found to that was keep pressing the power button til the mac turn off , restarting seemed to solve the problem but now it took like 30 minutes to restart, when always was like 5 minutes.
What can i do?If you get your machine running, you should immediatly copy off any personal data to a Storage Drive (no TimeMachine!) because your boot drive is failing.
See emergency quick copy here
Most commonly used backup methods
If you have a copy of your data off the machine, if your able too you can replace the drive yourself or if under AppleCare or warranty take it in for service.
Install/upgrade RAM or storage drive in Mac's
Since you've upgraded to 10.7 on that machine, you have to make a Recovery USB or borrow a friends machine andcopy theirs, perhaps Apple will let you get a copy.
http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
It's because Recovery HD is used to reinstall 10.7+ on a new boot drive. Newer machines have Internet Recovery.

Very slow connection for about one week
For the past week or so my connection speed has dropped massively, usually i could download at about 800kb/s and now it has reduced to around 5-10 kb/s.
My router is connected directly to the phone line, and is connected to my pc via an ethernet cable and and wirelessly to 1 laptop and an xbox 360.
I checked BT service statues and last week there was a problem (which has since been resolved) in the Bishop Auckland area - I have reset my router several times and the problem persists.
I have tried about a dozen times, but as of yet cannot get the BT speedtest to run, I enter my phone number and then the screen remains blank, I have tried this in firefox and IE on both my desktop and laptop. I will carry on trying.
My results from speed.io are quite confusing as the download and upload speeds are "excellent"
Results from http://www.speed.io

however in reality page loads are extremely slow and file downloads run at about 5 kb/s
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Very slow internet over past few days
Hello
My internet has been fast and stable for a number of years, until Wednesday morning that is. I usually get about 13Mbps downstream and 900kbps upstream, but now it hovers around the 200k-350k mark downstream and 400-550k upstream.
I'm connected to the main socket, which in old style socket with the slot in the middle of the faceplate. I've tried multiple routers, including a new one, and wired/wireless: the results are the same. I've also tried a new filter. There's nothing else connected (and I have no Sky box).

Sudden bogging-down & typing problems making Gmail unusable - like this for past few weeks
What is going on? For about the last 3 weeks, out of nowhere, trying to type messages using Gmail has become horribly tedious and almost impossible. The cursor freezes, then the words I've typed suddenly appear, but more than often jammed up, spaces in the wrong place, etc. The cursor can also disappear and never reappear. Also the other Gmail buttons and such may take many clicks to respond, are super-sluggish, etc.
I thought first that maybe an update for Windows 8.1.1 might be the problem (I'm not super-tech savvy about these things, so stabbed in the dark for a possible reason). So, tried Gmail on my old trusty desktop computer running Windows Vista. SAME exact issues. **I do have Firefox 35.0.1 on both computers.*
Then I disabled my AV protection to see if maybe it was the cause - nope.
I have used Firefox (LOVE it!) for over a decade and have NEVER had an issue like this. I had to install Chrome (yuck - do not like it!) in order to use Gmail. Please .... help! I have not installed any new extensions or add-ons or anything like that for 6+ months, and don't even deal with apps and all that on my newer laptop, so the finger can't be pointed at anything like that.
Appreciate getting this resolved so I can uninstall Chrome and keep using Firefox. Thanks! Is this issue only with that one site? Any other problems?

I'm with Sky, and have had very slow broadband for a while now. Above are the statistics from the test socket. Sky seem to think there is a problem with the line. I've now plugged the router into the main socket.
Any help would be appreciated.
**EDIT** My phone line is with BT, my broadband is with Sky. The problem Sky says is with the phone line it seems.Hi Joe,
Try sticking your telephone number into this line tester page and let us know if it finds a fault. If it comes back clear, you'll need to go back to Sky as there'll be no issues with your telephone line. If it comes back with a line fault, we can get it progressed towards a fix

For the past two months ive been going through a cycle where my internet has been going really slow, and certain pages cant even be opened (its a different webpage each time not the same one) but then one day firefox will crash and it will go back to working perfectly for a few weeks until it starts up again. After it crashes it asks if i want to open up the old pages i was viewing and there are always like 30 of my home page suggested. Im sure there is another way to fix this, but i think the easiest way would be to just force a crash every time it starts to go slow, so how could i do this?
thank youis resetting going to delete something like antvideos and all the vids i have downloaded? a crash has fixed this every time so i'd really like to just find a way to do that so do you know a way?

my ipad 4 has been connected to my wireless network using a netgear sky broadband router succesfully for a few weeks, suddenly can't connect, network is showing but no signal - all other wireless gadgets are connected just fine - including iphone - any ideas?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I have several recuring alarms set up on iCal for each day of the week. In the past few weeks, an alarm will occasionaly notify me roughly 15 minutes to an hour and a half late. These daily alarms are identical and repeat every day and there seems to be no apparent pattern to why or when an alarm happens after the event is past.
I assume you meant iCal rather than iTunes? Yes, iCal the time zone is correct. The delayed alarms only happen sporadically. Since I posted this message, the problem stopped happening every day at the same time, but it still happens occasionally with no rhyme or reason as to when. It's gotten so that I can't depend on my iCal alarms anymore.

I have been working on the same numbers file for the past few weeks. The last time I opened it was 1 week ago. Today when I tried to open it I am unable and getting a message that the file is invalid and the index.xml file is missing.
Hi Tracie,
I upgraded to Maverick OS X 10.9.5, numbers spreadsheet is saved. Upon re-opening, it appears to be frozen, a warning "file is invalid as index.xml file is missing". I checked, and the file is not "locked". This appears to occur only with using the new numbers app. When I open previous spreadsheets from old iWorks, no such problem occurs.
How did you resolve your problem?
Would appreciate any help here.
Thanks,
Deehay
