Very Slow lan speed at WRT54G v8

Hello folks,
I'm very sorry to bring this issue to you, but I've checked all the information avaliable at the forum and was not able to solve my problem. Here it is:
I have in my house total of 4 devices:
2- PC (P4 2.0 Gh 1 gb RAM) running Windows XP SP2 (hereby Pc 1 & Pc 2)
1- Notebooks (Core 2 Duo) running Windows vista (hereby Note 1 / 2 & 3)
1- Playstation 3 (hereby PS3)
Before I buying my Linksys router I used an Thomson Speedtouch Modem as router, and all conections were wired. I had no problem at all. Upnp at this modem worked very fine, and wired transfer files on my network worked very fine (transferences at 9 mega bytes per seccond)
Now, I've changed my router to wireless WRT54G v8.
PC 1 & PC 2 are using cables
Note 1 and PS3 are using wireless conection
The internet conection works very fine. I have an assymetric internet (very commom in brazil) and I get 400 kbytes per seccond downloads, which mets my desire (speed is ok)
But I'm having a hard time with the wired conections...
I'm using PC2 as a download center. So, I download everything using this PC 2 and then share through the other computers on my network.
But, if I try to download things FROM PC 2 to PC 1 I get about 30 kbytes per seccond speed (previously it was 9 megabytes per seccond)
If I try to download things FROM PC 1  to PC 2 I get 9 megabytes per seccond speed (which is fine)
If I try do download things from PC 2 to Notebook 1 I get 1 megabyte per seccond speed
If I try to download things from PC 1 to Notebook 1 I get 3 megabyte per seccond speed
Since I havent changed the cables from the previous instalation, the only responsible for the problem, as far as I can see, is the WRT54G router.
Things I've tryed so far
- Configuring firewall for correct IP authorization
- Changing MTU to 1400
- Changing the network card speed to 100 mbs full duplex on both computers
But the problem did not go away.
I would be very happy if any of you could provide me ideas to solve my problem.
Thanksa lot!

Sorry to bump this article, but my problem is not solved...
I've tryed several things, but the problem cannot be solved...
One thing I could figure out is that I cannot ping the PC which sends files very slowly.
This could indicate that the problem is firewall related, but, checking Norton configs, it seems that everything is OK. Even if I desable completely, the problem still occour... Windows firewall is also desabled...
I'm considering the idea of removing Norton firewall completely, because I think is related to it.
Any thoughts??
I've also tryed:
changing network cable
changing network card
and the problem still occour...
Help??

  • Very slow LAN speed

I have a "MI424WR" router. Various pages say it has speeds up to 12 mebabyte/second transfer rate, but I am only getting no more then 3mb/s ever.
I have 1 desktop that is wired and 1 laptop that uses wireless
    Help is apprecitated

Since you refer to slow LAN speeds, I assume you're referring to a transfer between the wired desktop PC and the wireless laptop.
Any transfer between the two is going to be constrained by the slowest component, which is your wireless connection.
You said you're getting "Mob/s".  I'm not clear if you're referring to megabits or megabytes.
If that number is megabytes, that's about average for a wireless-G connections.
    MOB/sec (note the caps) * 8 bits/byte = 24Mbps
If you meant 3Mbps, then you're probably dealing with a wireless interference issue and should look at the usual wireless troubleshooting issues, such as changing the channel, eliminating sources of interference, etc.

  • Time Capsule with an Airport Extreme bridge resulted in slow LAN speeds

Wondering if other people are seeing this. I am unsure if this was a result of upgrading both my TC and AEx to 7.6, but my LAN speeds had suffered in this configuration.
    1.  Comcast cable modem connected to the WAN port on my TC.
    2.  Connected an ethernet cat6 cable from the TC to my Airport Extreme, which was configured as a bridge.
    3.  My desktop was connected to the Airport Extreme.
    4.  When doing file transfers within the LAN or general internet usuage, my network speeds were extremely low.
    5.  Disconnected the cat6 cable from the TC and plugged that directly to my desktop.
    6.  Network speed jumps up by a factor of 5. LAN file transfers and internet usuage has returned to what I had expected.
Is there a known issue where a bridged AEx conncted to another Airport "main" device will result in all machines connected via the AEx to have slow LAN speeds?
I didn't see this issue months ago. I did less than 2 months ago upgrade our machines to the 7.6 firmware, but after experiencing some hiccups on the network, reverted back to 7.5.2.  However, the slow LAN speeds haven't gone away when the two airport machines are connected to each other.
Any insight or advise is appreciated.

By now, millions of users have updated to 7.6 and I cannot recall seeing a post similar to yours on this forum.
As far as a "known issue", you would need to contact Apple regarding that.
Suggest that you have the AirPort checked out at an Apple store if you have one near you.

  • Very slow broadband speeds

    Hello
My first post, and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me with this.
For a few days now, I've been experiencing very slow broadband speeds (100kbps or less), in contrast to the 1.5 - 2Mbps that I would usually expect to get.  I've been on hold to BT technical support for some time, and have got through twice, on both occasions being told that this is a widespread issue and to wait until the next day. However, I'm not seeing any improvement.  I'm aware of the problems in Edinburgh and the North of England, but I'm in East Anglia.

    Thanks for any help.
    Deej.

Once a line is stable and working well, it's best left running 24/7
Interventions like resets, replacing accelerators, unplugging the router etc. will cause line "flapping"
And the dslam sees this as instability, and in turn the BRAS lowers the IP profile ....
This is done to achieve stability, and decrease throughput purposefully, all done automatically.
What you have to do, is cure any line noise, plug directly into the master or test socket behind the NTE
faceplate, leave it connected and wait for the throughput to increase.
Very often a rock bottom IP may need a kick to get it out of the doldrums.
Eventually the noise margin will decrease, sync will increase, and IP profile go up.
Depending on how long the line has suffered impulse noise, will determine the time for SNR to come down.
Regardless of which type of phone you used to test quietline ... hum or crackle is a no-no.
It may be the cause of the problems.  It could be REIN on the network portion of the connection or dslam
crosstalk, either way it needs to be reported as line noise before you can count it out of the equation.

  • Help : very slow connection speed with AEBS and iMac

I connect to the internet using my newly purchased AEBS. I have a MacBook and an 24" iMac ( purchased in Nov 2007). My iMac showed very slow connecting speed of <1 MB/s download; with my MacBook placed just 1 foot from my iMac, the MacBook showed an amazing download speed of 20MB/s. If i connect the iMac to the AEBS using ethernet cable, it can get a very high speed.
    So, where is the problem??
I am new to wireless, please help. I use iMac more than my MacBook at home.
Actually, i did not touch the any of the advance setting of the AEBS.

You know, I am experiencing the same problem. My wife's PC and iPhone are blazing fast, but my MacBook is accessing the internet at about dial-up speeds. Very frustrating and I haven't yet found the culprit.
    Anyone???

  • Very Slow Download Speed

    Hi,
I am experiencing very slow downloading speeds, when I am just normally downloading something in Safari, or downloading a torrent with upto 100 seeders.
The maximum download speed I have seen on my computer is 80kb/s, which is painfully slow for downloading the Adobe trials, when they reach about 1gb.
I have a router, connected to 2 computers, and speedtest.net has told me that my download speed is 1mb/s.
It seems like download speeds are being restricted to 80kb/s, so is there any way to 'unlock' full potential downloading speeds?
    Any help much appreciated!

I think you're making the same mistake a lot of people make.
The maximum download speed I have seen on my computer is 80kb/s
Safari reports downloads in kiloBYTES per second, not kilobits, so that 80KB/s translates to about 640 kilobits per second.
downloading the Adobe trials, when they reach about 1gb
Really? 1 gigabit per second? I assume that's a typo.
speedtest.net has told me that my download speed is 1mb/s
therefore your downloads are progressing at about 64% of maximum. That sounds about right - you won't get maximum throughput for every download - it will vary based on server location, network load and more.

  • Very slow download speeds with ATT U-Verse

    Hello,
Experiencing very slow download speeds with Macbook Pro 2011, on Lion,  and ATT UVerse Max, which should allow for an avg. 11-12 MBPS speed. Instead, I get a fluctuating 60-370 kbps speed. I am not experiencing this problem on my Windows machines (Laptop running Windows 7 and Desktop on XP), it is only affecting the Macbook pro. I wonder if this issue is a known problem with ATT U-Verse and Macs, I spent hours yesterday with their support online and they couldn't help me, stating that from their side all settings were OK; the first representative from ATT re-booted the router remotely and that seemed to work for about 10 minutes, and then it went back to a crawling speed...
    Any suggestions welcome!
    Thanks

Do you have QOS enabled in your router? Did you try plugging the win7 laptop directly and check the speed?

  • Very slow upload speed via infinity 2 (business) u...

Very slow upload speed via infinity 2 (business) unlimited after phone line fix (street cabinet) ?
Had my line fixed today by engineer (no dial tone).
Download rate near normal but upload = 0.73Mbps!?
I reset modem and router after he left and appreciate my profile is probably in need of some TLC after a weeks line fault, but is this normal in this situation? I heard it can take some time to reprofile my line and before it was fixed it was even worse at 0.10Mbps
Just seems very low considered the line is now operational again.

48Hrs+ on from residential line reconnection my business infinity 2 broadband upload speed is now approaching normal speed levels.
What a 10 days that was all because some ass disturbed the cabling in the street cabinet!
Yes I'm aware I have business broadband and am talking about it in a residential based forum, but my actual phone line is still residential that it is supplied over and the business broadband product is much the same animal as that supplied to residential customers i.e. Infinity 2 Unlimited. Only the mail and option of static i.p. appear different - that is all.
    Jeez.

I'm with Sky, and have had very slow broadband for a while now. Above are the statistics from the test socket. Sky seem to think there is a problem with the line. I've now plugged the router into the main socket.
    Any help would be appreciated.
**EDIT** My phone line is with BT, my broadband is with Sky. The problem Sky says is with the phone line it seems.

    Hi Joe,
Try sticking your telephone number into this line tester page and let us know if it finds a fault. If it comes back clear, you'll need to go back to Sky as there'll be no issues with your telephone line. If it comes back with a line fault, we can get it progressed towards a fix

  • E1200 router: very slow download speeds, ok uploady got

I recently set up a new E1200 router to replace my old one. We are having problems with very slow download speeds (often <0.10 Mbps) even while the upload speeds are OK (8-10 Mbps). Our previous download speed over wifi was 10-15 Mbps.
When I first set it up, the download speed was very poor on the initial computer. After fooling around, it was fine. I don't know what I did that made it speed up. However, my wife's computer has had very poor download speeds. After rebooting my computer, the download speed has also dropped bak to <0.10. I was able to stream Hulu on my Wii just fine an hour ago.
    What could the problem be?

So we could have this isolated, check how much speed you’re getting straight to the modem so we’ll have some point of comparison that from your internet provider. If through the router, you have struggles with not getting an acceptable value for download speed especially if it only happens with the wireless connection, you can try these: change the wireless channel and the wireless security on the router. If on the router, you have the channel set to auto by default change it to (3,6,9,11), just have to play around with it. Moreover, for the wireless security, select WPA2 Personal. If that doesn’t make any difference, update the firmware of the router, reset and have it reconfigured.

  • Why i have very very slow downloading speed on wifi on iphone5

While on wifi I am experiencing very slow downloading speed on iPhone 5. My iPhone 5 is a brand new phone, I have to wait for hours to complete a running download of about 40mb or so. Please help me and tell me if there is any solution to that. On the same wifi network I have the new iPad and iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, all are working perfectly getting perfect speed while downloading but I can't on iPhone 5.

What you did was fine. Leopard is a little different to 10.4.11, but:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

My Verizon iPhone 5 has very slow upload speeds that causes my apps to time out.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  It only happens on 4g.

Then Restore your iPhone Firmware with iTunes on computer. See if better. If not, talk to Verizon and see if they know of the problem and if there is a fix. If not, then make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

I thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the brushes? Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.
