  • Is there a way that I can deactivate my Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Reader Professional, etc.) without being connected to the internet?

My laptop is having major internet connectivity issues (as in I cannot get online AT all) and the techies are likely going to need to completely reinstall Windows to fix it, so I really need to deactivate my Adobe Creative Suite so I can reinstall later. As I currently have no way to deactivate my software using the normal method (i.e. deactivate via the Help Menu which requires being online), does anyone know another method I can use? I cannot find a phone number to call Adobe with and their online chat forum is currently undergoing "maintenance".

It's actually not a problem.  When you reinstall and sign in to the Application Manager, one of your previous active installation will be cancelled.  If that turns out to be the wrong one, simply it sign back in again.  That will give you the two active installations you are allowed.

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

  • Very slow broadband and connection keeps dropping

Hello, we have been BT customers since August 2013, after previously being Freeola customers for many years.  We live in a very rural area, at the end of the exchange so we are never going to get amazingly fast broadband, we are estimated 1MB.
Previously using Speedtest.net at the beginning of the year we were getting 0.9Mbps, then in May our internet dropped and we couldn't get a proper connection or speed.  We contacted Freeola who after doing some tests, said that we had a copper line failure and to contact BT.  We did this and the copper line failure issue was fixed, an openreach engineer tested the line and we assumed all was fine.  But we were still getting very slow speeds and the connection kept dropping.  So we decided to switch to BT in August, we have put up with the slow speeds and dropping connection for 3 months hoping in vain that once we got a stable line the speed would increase and we would be back to were we expected to be.
When we are using the internet, we very often get "Your connection has been reset" errors within our browsers.
This has not happened, so I have decided to come on to this forum in the hope that we can solve this issue before my hair gets any greyer.  We have a BT Home Hub 4 so we have not got all the stats that previous HH had available.
Also as we are in a rural area our telephone connection is through overhead cables and as said previously we are at the end of the exchange.
Please see below for the information that I have been able to get:

    Hi jacoma,
Sorry to hear that your  having issues with your BT Retail services.
You will either be on the ADSLMax (upto 8mbps) service or if your exchange has been BTw 21cn upgraded you maybe on the ADSL2/2+ (upto 12/20mbps) service depending on your line quality and length.
However these upto speeds may not be the speeds you will get as ADSL broadband connections are very dependent on the distance from your property to the exchange and the quality of your line. The further away you are from your local exchange the slower your broadband speed will be.
To enable the community to help you please see the advice below:
Please see Keith's help guide here: Helping forum members to help you, it will go through some checks that are needed for us to help you.
    1) Are you in the TEST socket? if not can you please connect to the test socket and repeat steps 2, 3 and 4.
All the below performed in TEST Socket:
    2) is there any noise on your line. dial 17070 option2 ,called quite line test, from landline phone. should be silent but slight hum normal on cordless phone.
If there is any noise on your line such as crackling, distictive noise when the phone is connected to the TEST socket and doing the quiet line test then you need to report a line fault to BT Retail by dailling 151. Once the crackling or disticive noise has gone then your broadband should slowly recover.
    3) please post adsl line statistics
    4) Can you please run a BT speed test (including IP Profile) http://speedtest.btwholesale.com (not beta version)[Best done with a wired, Ethernet, connection] After Quick Test is done you need to click "Further Diagnostics" to get IP Profile.

If you have a BT Home Hub like the one below...
     Then:
     1) Go to http://192.168.1.254 or http://bthomehub.home
     2) click Settings
     3) Click Advanced Settings
     4) Click Broadband
     5) Click Connection or sometimes called ADSL (see picture Below)
The direct Address is http://bthomehub.home/index.cgi?active_page=9116 (for bthomehub3.A firmware ending in 1.3)
or http://bthomehub.home/index.cgi?active_page=9118 (for bthomehub3.A firmware ending in 94.1.11)
You will need to copy and past all the adsl line statistics ( Including HEC, CRC and FEC errors). You may need to click " More Details"
If you have a HomeHub 4 then the majority of the ADSL Stats shown in the previous Hubs will not be there.
for HH4 users you can go to hub manager then select troubleshooting then logs and are look for 2 entries together which will show theconnection speed and noise margin for when your HH4 last sycned with the exchange.

What is wrong with the app store and how long before its fixed, im downloading atna very slow pash and i have a 10mb uncontested line.

Sorry, its on both my iphone 4s (2 iphones) and ipad2 that the app store is slow, I have done all the above and still when i download a 1 mb app it take about a half a hour just to download and previously it wasn't even a second. When browsing the web the devices are fast and internet speed is good, but when going in to app store it takes long to load and show me the new app, updates, featured app ect. We watch movie online and the streaming is brilliant. Even on my windows pc the app store is slow and sometimes says that i store could not be opened, i have also tried on my buddies wifi and there it does exactly the same which makes me think that its on apples side, but why do you not have any problems?

  • I am experiencing very slow import and backing up issues.

I am experiencing very slow import and backing up catalog on exiting Lightroom. This is a very recent issue. I use RAW files.

The type of files you are importing will have an effect on the speed of the import process. Larger files, like raw sensor files, are normally much larger than JPG files.
But if this is something new, the slowness, and you are using the same camera with the same size files as previously then it's not just the file size.

We would like to deploy the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc…) through Citrix XenApp 6 / 6.5.  Does anyone know if this is possible – are there any deployment guides.  I haven’t been able to find any so I’m assuming it’s not officially supported.
    Thank you
    Stuart

We have a few of the products installed. You will find they work okay but nothing replaces working locally.
We are, however, using the Enterprise version that is not tied to cloud accounts.
We have had to play with the video setting of Citrix for better Quality. If you ratchet them up to high for someone that is doing high end editing your performance drops significantly. The screen refresh is blocky and no one doing this work would find it usable.
We have it there fore simple editing and managing our media. I am looking for a much better storage solution that is sharable across platforms and locations.

  • Very slow internet and email designated an "Apple" problem by my server

I have had my mac mini for about 15 months and recently it has become unbearably slow especially on the internet. I have DSL and only have one computer. Most of the time I am not able to send emails before it times out.
My provider, AT&T, yesterday did several tests and told me that their services are working fine as is my DSL box. The lights on the box also indicate that it is working fine. During yesterday's test with AT&T they had me go to another website to get the speed of my sending and receiving. Sending was 295.1 kbps and receiving was 373.1 kbps. The tech said this was extremely slow and was puzzled that it was so slow, but gave no help other than that the problem must lie with my mac. I don't know what to do. I am now using the local library's computer in hopes that someone will be able to give me more assistance.
As further information, last week when I first noticed problems I was having trouble shutting down the computer. It would take several times of initiating the shut down process before it would finally shut down. It appeared at that time that a program called "mirroragent" was my problem. It was causing the shut down to be terminated. However, I have been able to get very little information about mirroragent other than it is part of the idisk or .mac programs. I tried stopping all automization of idisk sychronization, but that failed to help.

It sounds like you have plenty of free disc space.
The processes by root are important, there are many things that run in the background on the machine even before any user logs in.
You can sort the process list based on CPU usage, to see what is currently active and using up the most CPU power when the computer seems to be running slowly for no reason. Launch and quit an application and watch what happens to the CPU usage, does it go down to low usage when you have quit all other applications, or is something running pegging the CPU meter when you expect the machine to be idle?
Also, there is an internet/network activity panel that should indicate if there is any active upload/download activity on your computer that you might not be aware of.
ClamXav is a free file-scanning virus utility, not sure it can detect and stop an active virus running in your system, but you can scan previously downloaded files and documents to see if it finds anything, it's more of a preventative tool. I kind of doubt that is your problem though.

  • I have a MAC that runs Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  The new OSX Mavericks is free for download and I was thinking about upgrading.  Will my Creative Suite 4 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign) work with OSX Mavericks?

Was hoping to keep my Creative Suite 4 just a little longer.  Will it be possible with Mavericks?

    Uh uh, I see!
Also it seems I can use my time machine backup:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migration_Assistant_(Apple)
together with Migration Assistant. This would work. Thanks
Now I need to figure out the Windows part. I need a full backup of Windows as well, with all the programs. In particular I need to be sure I can maintain the graphic card drivers.
You don't want to know how long took for me to find out how the **** I could update my graphic card drivers in Windows on my Macbook pro. Unfortunately there was a lot of misleading propaganda from Apple about bootcamp, saying that the new intel processor would have worked fine with Windows. Sad that everything was a lie. When installing Windows with bootcamp the graphic card program was unable to find and install the graphic card drivers update . Took me 2 weeks reading through thousands of angry posts of disappointed costumers to find out how to do that. I do not want to reapeat this dreadful experience.
After one year and a half with my Macbook pro I have a system I am TERRIFIED to touch. It is very very fragile, and any little change can destroy everything. It barely works. that's why I am so scared to re-install the OS

  • Very Slow Launch of Gecko Based Programs Like Firefox

I am having a serious problem with launching Firefox 2.0.0.3 or Bon Echo 2.0.0.3 on out of the 4 G4 computers I use between home and office. Previously, the program would launch in between 1.5 and 2 minutes. In the past month or so, lanch time and the first time any window (like a preference window) needs to be launched, it has become very, very slow. When I say slow, we talking about 8-15 minute launch times on a 12 inch G4 Powerbook or either Firefox 2.0.0.3 or Bon Echo 2.0.0.3 Since I love Firefox and am totally dependent on several of the add-ins I cannot replicate in other browsers
Once I can get the programs launched, they work perfectly except for the first time I need to call up a new window, like preferences or bookmarks, which is inordinately slow on the first effort and normal thereafter. I am desperate having spent tens of hours looking for a solution.
I have been able to determine what the problem is not, but have found no solution. It is not a basic problem with the OS X install since I did a full archival restore and then a software update to no avail. It is not a problem with the profile since I created a new profile, AppZapp deleted Firefox and Bon Echo and reinstalled both and it was still slow. It is also not an extension since the problem recurred after reinstallation before loading any add-ons and also occurs on my clean user account used for testing. I have also discovered the same problem began with Nvu, a web editor I use which also employs the Gecko web engine. Camino, which also uses Gecko has gotten a bit slower at launch as well, but nowhere near as bad as Firefox and Nvu.
I am left to conclude that something is going on between the Gecko web engine loading and in particular its rendering of images in windows and either the 10.4.8 or 10.4.9 upgrades to Tiger. I have carefully dissected the extensions and other information from the one mac to which I have access that is not experiencing this problem (a G4 17 inch Powerbook) and I can find absolutely no difference in anything and especially the add-ins to Firefox. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Rickeye,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your Mac. It sounds like you have been on the right track in your troubleshooting. If you continue to have general across-the-board slowness in launching and running applications, you may want to take a look at Activity Monitor during one of these incidents and see if anything stands out as overly taxed, especially CPU, Memory, and Disk. • Very slow "launch executable" compared to shortcut

In a Zenworks 11.2.3 environment with all Win7 workstations:
In trying to debug a Lotus Notes upgrade package, we separated out the program
launch itself. The launch, a single action, is very simple: Launch Executable
that has the command line "c:\program files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\notes.exe" with the
    working directory set as "c:\programs files\IBM\Lotus\Notes" on 32-bit Win7.
The working folder and command line contain "C:\program files (X86)" (etc.)
    instead, on 64-bit Win7 stations.
In both cases, the launch action is very slow, and sometimes hangs the Notes
client for a very long time (more than a few minutes).
If I create a shortcut on the desktop with exactly the same for command line
and working directory, it launches vastly quicker -- no more than a few seconds
    to fully open.
The environment is one where management wants to launch only out of the NAL
(Zenworks window) and not from a shortcut on the desktop. But the performance
    issues are very apparent.
Why is it so much faster to launch from the desktop shortcut than via Zenworks?
What can I look for to pinpoint the source of the slowness, and is there
anything else that I can do other than putting a direct program shortcut on the
desktop? Is this a known issue?
    Thanks.

  • Very Slow Broadband and Poor Customer Service

    Hi,
Since April we have been having issues with our broadband line dropping the connection and terribly slow speed (around 0.4Mbs). We have had 3 engineer visits changing the master socket, home hub, filter and even work done out in the road. Each one has supposedly 'fixed' the problem, only for it to return to the very slow speeds within a week or so.
Our fourth engineer visit was booked for this morning, and the engineer failed to arrive. I received a phone call to say BT needed to re-arrange the appointment as the reason the engineer hadn't arrived was because BT had decided that it needed to be a 'multi services' engineer not a 'external' engineer.
I didn't even get an apology when I pointed out that I'd taken half a day off work to wait for the engineer when I could have been notified that the visit had been cancelled. Unfortunately we got cut off before I could re arrange the appointment so I called back, only to be told by the next person that in fact the reason the engineer hadn't attended was because of a BT OpenReach outage. After re-arranging the engineer visit I've now been sent 2 confirmation texts one to say they will be coming on Friday, one to say they will be coming on Monday. Hence another 10 minutes of my day calling to confirm when they would actually be attending.
I have also been incorrectly charged the £129.99 Engineer Home Improvement Charge as a result of the 2nd engineer visit due to an ‘admin error’. This was refunded to my account following 3 phone calls (one to ask why the money had been credited to my BT bill when I'd specifically asked for it to be returned to my bank account) but it caused me to go overdrawn in the process incurring bank charges.
I have raised 2 complaints, but no-one has contacted me concerning them (now 2 weeks and counting). When I finally lost it and called to cancel the contract I was told that as I was still in my minimum term I would have to pay £208 for the pleasure. My counter argument that for a total 3 months BT have not been providing the service we’re paying for seemed to fall on deaf ears.
I don't run a business, but I'm pretty sure this is not how to do it...
If anyone has any help/advice it would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
