Very strange Spotlight results..
I'm very confused with the results presented by Spotlight in Leopard:
Can somebody explain me why the third picture below represents the only way (?) to find a 'Parallels virtual disk' on my Startup volume? (I wanted to exclude this file from Time Machine backups, which is necessary to save space on your Time Machine disk..) The name of this file is 'winvista.hdd' and is about 11 GB big. Notice that my first and second attempt don't show any results (the same thing for 'File Name' instead of 'Contents'). I really don't understand this:
Inexplicable! New Search and spotlight causes me also many headaches, simply for the fact that you cannot add more view options to the search results... and the above mentioned work arounds to find simple things.
Also it seems, when you start ...ahem... building your search, you cannot easily switch to search on a different volume. Your search build falls apart, and you have to start fresh.

MSI GTX 770 Lightning LE Edition --- Original/LN2 strange overclock results
Ok guys this is very strange OVERCLOCK results!! On my gtx 770 Lightning LE card i have 2 bios which need to be physically move(switch) by my hand on Graphis Card!
In ORGINAL Bios my OC results is higher and better then on LN2 Bios
MSI Settings on ORGINAL bios:
Name: GeForce GTX 770 Lightning LE
Driver Version: 334.89
Core Voltage: +100
Power Limired +109%
Core Clock: +150 Mhz GPU-Z-> GPU CLOCK: 1222; Boost: 1274 ; GPU 2.0 Boost: 1306 Mhz
Mmemory Clock: +500
Picture of ORIGINAL BIOS: http://www.mediafire.com/view/myfiles/#j6zvj9n0u6dhla2
LN2 BIOS:
Name: GeForce gtx 770
Driver Version: 334.89
Core Voltage: +12
Power Limited: +109%
Core Clock : +110Mhz ; GPU-Z-> GPU CLOCK: 1182; Boost: 1234 ; GPU 2.0 Boost: 1267 Mhz
Memory Clock: + 500Mhz
Picture of LN2 BIOS: http://www.mediafire.com/view/myfiles/#oq818435y296uj3
With LN2 BIOS we need to have more OVERCLOCK potential or not? For me ORGINAL bios give me more OVERCLOCK potential than LN2 BIOS. Why is it so?Quote from: flobelix on 26-March-14, 04:10:14
Obviously you don't understand. LN2 allows to set higher voltages not increase oc potential with the same settings. When setting less extra voltage in LN2 than in normal vbios results can't be better.
Then why is voltage on "LN2 BIOS" only +12 and on ORIGINAL BIOS much better +100?
Look this: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/09/22/msi_geforce_gtx_780_lightning_video_card_review/3#.UzHuZPldWio
He have more OC potencial with LN2 BIOS! I really don't understand! And in Afterburner writes: MSI gtx 780 Lightning (LN2)
And when is my card on ORIGINAL bios in Afterburner writes " Graphics Card: MSI GTX 770 Lightning LE"
When is card on LN2 bios in Afterburner writes "Graphics Card: GeForce gtx 770"

Very strange bug with compareTo: returning incorrect results
Hello everyone! I have used the method compareTo many times to maintain my database project's entries. However recently I have discovered a bug, in which:
a and b both being Storage type objects:
private static class Storage {
object data
int nextData //an array stores the Storage objects
int previousData //this uses an integer to locate previous in array
Problem:
((Comparable)(a.data)).compareTo((Comparable)(b.data)) returns a 3, when a.data is clearly 5, and b.data is clearly 20.
This is very strange, as the compareTo should return a -1 instead of a positive number. Is this a known bug with the compareTo method? I have been using it reliably for many programs but this is the first time it ever occurs to me.Problem:
((Comparable)(a.data)).compareTo((Comparable)(b.data))
returns a 3, when a.data is clearly 5, and b.data is
clearly 20.
This is very strange, as the compareTo should return a
-1 instead of a positive number. Is this a known bug
with the compareTo method? I have been using it
reliably for many programs but this is the first time
it ever occurs to me.Not really... comparing Strings "5" to "20"
is really the same as comparing "5" to "2"
being the first character of the string, difference
being, surprise, surprise = 3.
If you want the Strings to be comparable that way you should left-fill them with spaces or zeros.
Or, better still, override compareTo and make your Storage implement Comparable instead of all that casting of the data objects. -
Help with getting values from request. Very Strange!!
Hello,
My very strange problem is the following.
I have created three dynamic list boxes. When the user select
the first list box, the second becomes populated with stuff
from a database. The third becomes populated when the second
is selected. Now, I have used hidden values in order for
me to get the selected value from the first listbox. The
following code is my first listbox:
<SELECT NAME="resources" onChange="document.hiddenform.hiddenObject.value = this.option [this.selectedIndex].value; document.hiddenform.submit();">
<OPTION VALUE =""> Resource</OPTION>
<OPTION VALUE ="soil"> Soil </OPTION>
<OPTION VALUE ="water"> Water </OPTION>
<OPTION VALUE ="air"> Air </OPTION>
<OPTION VALUE ="plants"> Plants </OPTION>
<OPTION VALUE ="animals"> Animals </OPTION>
</SELECT>
I use the getRequest method to get the value of hiddenObject.
At this time I am able to get the value of hiddenObject to populate
the second list box.
But, when the user selects an item from the second list box
and the second form is also submitted,
I lose the value of hiddenObject. Why is this??
The code to populate my second listbox is the following:
<SELECT NAME ="res_categories" onChange="document.hiddenform2.hiddenObject2.value = this.options[this.selectedIndex].value; document.hiddenform2.submit(); ">
<OPTION VALUE ="" SELECTED> Category</OPTION>
Here I access a result set to populate the list box.
Please help!!Form parameters are request-scoped, hence the request.getParameter("hiddenObject"); call after the submission of the second form returns a null value because the hiddenObject parameter does not exist within the second request.
A solution would be to add a hiddenObject field to your second form and alter the onChange event for res_categories to read
document.hiddenform2.hiddenObject.value=document.1stvisibleformname.resources.option[document.1stvisibleformname.resources.selectedIndex].value;
document.hiddenform2.hiddenObject2.value = this.options[this.selectedIndex].value;
document.hiddenform2.submit();You will then come across a similar problem with your third drop-down if indeed you need to resubmit the form...
A far better approach would be to create a session scoped bean, and a servlet to handle these requests. Then when the servlet is called, it would set the value of the bean property, thus making it available for this request, and all subsequent requests within the current session. This approach would eliminate the need for the clunky javascript, making your application far more stable. -
Address Book behaves very strange
Hello members and outside viewers,
First thing: My Address Book behaves very strange.
- After startup, the window freezes. Only if I minimize and click again, works OK. I began used to it, BUT
- Since yesterday, Addresses gone, disappeared from every entry.
- Under Preferences » Address Format is uneditable, it has "Item3" in it, unclickable drop down menu.
- Under Preferences »Template » Add Field several options are grey: "Phone", "Email", "Related Names", "Instant Messaging", "Address".
Please can you help me! I deleted both plist files from Preferences folder and deleted the whole folder under Application Support/AddressBook, also reinstalled Address Book from Leopard DVD, but nothing helped so far.
Second thing: when I invoke Spotlight, and start typing after 2-3 seconds, it quits and also Dock unusable, restarts automatically. Spotlight is useless, it behaves every time like this. Spotlight in Finder windows are OK, system-wide menubar has this error. Also, it was suddenly gone wrong like Address Book. Can I think of some virus?
P.S. (off topic), might helpful to share: very frustating, that registering to Discussions took me over an hour.
- With Safari 4.03 the "Name" and "AppleID" are blank fields on "Create New User Account", therefore impossible to proceed. ( Error: invalid AppleID. Please login with a different AppleID )
- With Firefox you can actually see them, but "?" instead of accounted letters.
- After changing My Info, I finally realised that Apple ID should be complete e-mail address.
- That means my "visionfresh" account is totally different from "[email protected]" (or me.com, whatever..)
- Not to mention that I created a new Apple ID, that was also not working.
- Bottom line: my "[email protected]" account is working also in Safari after editing my Name (replace accented characters), but I could not proceed with the nickname "visionfresh", I chose "matyashuszar".{quote:title=Console.App shows this when starting Address Book}

A very very strange issue on BlazeDS Deserializing
Hi all,
I run into a very very strange issue on BlazeDS Deserializing. Is there any hint or idea? Thanks a lot!
Scenario 1:
Both the browser(firefox or IE) and the midtier (BlazeDS ,java) are on the same machine.
Actual result:
Everything works fine. All the properties in the Flex Object could be mapped to the Java Class
Scenario 2:
The browser(firefox or IE) and the midtier (BlazeDS ,java) are on the different machine.
Actual result:
Sometimes it works fine.
And most of the time it does not work fine. Only the data in List is mapped correctly. All the values of simple data type such as int are mapped to 0 .
Let me simplify the problem.
The objects of Class B is always stored in the ArrayCollection assocItems of Class A
Flex side:
public class A {
public var id: int;
public var name: String;
public var assocItems: ArrayCollection=new ArrayCollection();
public class B {
public var id: int;
public var assocItems : ArrayCollection=new ArrayCollection();
The id , name in Flex Class A and assocItems in Class B could be deserialize to correct value . But the id of Class B is always mapped to 0. This is not correct.
The log level of BlazeDS is configured to Debug. From the log I can see that each value is passed from Flex side to Java server side correctly.
[BlazeDS][INFO] Channel endpoint my-amf received request.
[BlazeDS][DEBUG] Deserializing AMF/HTTP request
Version: 3
(Message #0 targetURI=null, responseURI=/18)
(Array #0)
[0] = (Typed Object #0 'flex.messaging.messages.RemotingMessage')
However, the Java object does not get the correct value of B.id.
In conclusion,
1. It’s an issue with only default types
2. It does not occur every time
3. It does not occur when the browser(firefox or IE) and the midtier (BlazeDS ,java) are on the same machine
Have you ever run into the similar problems? And what’s your solution?I checked, when I hard-code the constant in linq, the generated sql is like this:
SELECT "Extent1"."AA" AS "AA"
FROM (SELECT "TBL"."AA" AS "AA"
FROM "USERNAME"."TBL" "TBL") "Extent1"
WHERE ('1062303212007000121' = "Extent1"."AA")
if I pass a variable to the query with same value, the sql is like this:
SELECT "Extent1"."AA" AS "AA"
FROM (SELECT "TBL"."AA" AS "AA"
FROM "USERNAME"."TBL" "TBL") "Extent1"
WHERE ("Extent1"."AA" = '1062303212007000121' /* @p__linq__0 */) (@p__linq__0 is passed as parameter)
The only difference is a paramter. I can't figure out why there is such a impact on performance. -
VERY strange lag on a Dell Optiplex 760
I thought it would be a good idea to keep a 16GB flash drive on my keychain that booted Arch so I could work on HW for college in a consistent OS! Everything is working great so far, but I ran into a very strange problem with a Dell Optiplex 760. During the normal Arch init process, everything loads great, except for when it gets to the udev stage where everything hangs. But here's the strange part of this scenario: the problems go away when I start typing random keys or move the mouse! If I don't do this, the system hangs completely from what I can tell. This happens at the console and with X.
The service tag for this machine is FDCQQJ1, and the dell.com driver area brings up this list of hardware and (windows) drivers for it.
Here's the #lspci -vv of the system:

Very strange error : IDOC to jdbc scenario
Hi
I am getting a very strange error when I see the log for the idoc to jdbc scenario that I am building.
The mapping test shows the header record and line item record properly in the mapping result.
insert, access nodes, fields with access nodes are all formed correctly.
However the communication channel log shows below error.
Could not execute statement for table/stored proc. "tblTestItem" (structure "Item") due to com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Incorrect syntax near ')'.
JDBC Message processing failed, due to Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'tblTestItem' (structure 'Item'): com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Incorrect syntax near ')'.
The message status was set to WAIT.
The query that I see in the log is :INSERT INTO tblTestItem () VALUES ()
However mapping tool shows that all nodes are correctly formed.
Please assist.Hi
I am still getting this issue even after the below steps so kind of stuck - actually very much stuck.
1. Restart of the dev environment
2. Tried with a new extension of the idoc
In the communication channel log for the JDBC receiver channel I still see
INSERT INTO tblItem () VALUES ()
The payload that I see in the message content tab is as follows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <ns0:MT_XXX_XXXX xmlns:ns0="http://capita.com/pi/XXXX">
- <Statement>
- <dbTableName action="INSERT">
<table>tblItem</table>
</dbTableName>
- <access>
<InvoiceNo>0000000009293467</InvoiceNo>
</access>
</Statement>
</ns0:MT_XXX_XXXX>
How do I debug the jdbc adapter to see how it converts the above xml output from the mapping step (note that this output is from an actual run and not test tool) to a sql query.
Very strange that the column names are present in the target payload but it is not reflecting in the query.
I have other tables being populated with the same jdbc receiver communication channel which makes this more and more confusing.
PLEASE ADVICE. -
Very strange EL evaluation problem
Hi,
I have a very strange problem atm.
I'm trying the JNDI Resources example on tomcat.
My test.jsp page looks like this:
<%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" language="java" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/sql" prefix="sql" %>
<html>
<head>
<title>DB Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<h2>Results</h2>
<c:out value="${1+2+3}"/>
<sql:query var="rs" dataSource="jdbc/JavaTest">
select id, foo, bar from testdata
</sql:query>
<c:out value="${rs.rowCount}"/>
<c:forEach var="row" items="${rs.rows}">
Foo ${row.foo}
Bar ${row.bar}
</c:forEach>
<br>
</body>
</html>
The output of this page is this:
Results
${1+2+3} ${rs.rowCount} Foo ${row.foo}
Bar ${row.bar}
As you can see these expressions are just written out to the browser and they are not being evaluated.
The problem is not with tomcat itself because other jsp's without database access work perfectly.
My web.xml file looks as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

I've included the jstl.jar and standard.jar from the jstl package in the WEB-INF/lib directory, also the mysql-connector-java.jar (JDBCDriver) is included in the web-inf/lib directory.
Here is the logfile, which might contain the answer to my problem: (I removed the ResourceRef specification because it's exactly the same as in the context.xml file)

Can somebody help me with this. I've been looking for a sollution for hours.
I've been having problems setting up the jdbc-driver also, but I think this is solved now with these deployment descriptors. I don't have a single clue what is going on right now.
${} expression are simple NOT being evaluated.
I don't think it's a database problem because I can see the user connections in the mysql monitor.
Any ideas? All help is welcome and very much appreciated. :-)
THANKS !!!
PS: sorry for the extreme long post, I wanted to post all relevant information to track this strange behaviour down.Seems to be a problem with your web.xml not pointing to version 2.4.

Very strange on tracing function
Hello All,
I have encountered a very strange problem on tracing funciton.
If set the disable tracing on a sequence,I will get a wrong result(all failed),And if enable the fuction,The test result is correct.
Why will get total different result?
Thanks a lot.
BRThanks for your reply.
We used the HMI built by labview,You can see all the HV test are failed.Normally I didn't simulate any error on product and expect all passed
Then I tried to open the dynamic sequence for debug,And set all the subsequences of "H
IPOT_5_STEPS_3" (sequence call trace settting as "use current trace setting".
Execute the sequence with Teststand,Will get the sequence(HIPOT_5_STEPS_3 is passed) -
Hello all,
ever since I've upgraded my system (pacman -Su) I get very strange behaviour from aMule.
I see nothing on all of the panels that list stuff (for example search results or even shared files) -- this is despite that aMule counts these items - it simply doesn't show them. (for example it says Shared Files(2))
I guess something messed up with the wxWidget that does the sortable list stuff component or something?
RotemWithout knowing the code, can't say for sure, but it sounds like the buffer was never cleared on your server.
Typically, a client does not send data over the network until a buffer is full - then it sends the entire buffer. The server typically won't read (input.isReady() should return false) until it's receieve buffer is full.
However, if you kill the server/client processes and restart them - it normally would clear out the buffers - as java does automatic GC pickup.
Try adding a gc() to the termination of the server, and also try making the clients flush() their output streams before closing the connection.
Let us know what happens.

What could be causing a VERY strange audio lag?
Hi,
This is a problem that I have begun experiencing in the last week or so and I have found a post on another site of someone who is having the same problem. I'm not sure if it is an update gone wrong but it is nothing I have never seen before in my years of video editing.
Ok here's what's happening...
If there are two audio tracks (say a stereo music track), when I push play one tracks runs slower than the other. However this is where it gets interesting... One thing I observed (very noticeable with headphones on) is that if it is the left channel which is running slow, when you pause the video and push play again, the right channel then becomes the channel which runs slow. It swaps channels every time you pause and play. With the slow channel, there is also a good half a second delay before it starts after the good channel (and vision) has begun. So if you are listening to music, it will start in the left channel then the right one will come in slower about a half a second later. Then you push space (pause) then space (play) and the same happens but it starts in the right channel.
The computer I have is very powerful and all my hard-drives are internal so I can't see it being a system issue. I also only reinstalled my computer fully a few weeks ago so I know that junk on my computer isn't the issue either. As from other checks, it also happens in other projects, even older ones which I had finished ages ago and never had any problems. The problem actually went away earlier this week but has just come back so it seems to be an intermittent problem.
Very strange... Any ideas or assistance would be great as I have come to a bit of a standstill with this.
MattHi,
Here's the answers:
Where did the audio come from? I have tried a few various methods which all have the same result including bringing in a stereo 48KHZ aif or using footage captured from the tape (stereo only - the problem goes away if they are changed to two discrete mono channels)
How was it copied to the computer and imported to FCP? Either captured in the case of footage from the camera or from an AIF file where it would be dropped into a bin and then onto the timeline.
What format is the audio in? Sample rate? Everything is at 48KHZ.
What kind of sequence are you working in? I only use two types of sequences and it happens on both being HDV - 1080i50 and DVPAL 48KHz Anamorphic.
Is the audio's format native to your sequence settings? Yes, both for the captured footage and the imported audio.
Hope this helps -
Very strange behaviour master-detail-detail please help
Very strange behaviour master-detail-detail please help
Hello,
I have a parent-child-grandchild report which show's some really strange behaviour.
The data template has 3 queries Q1, Q2 and Q3.
Q2 is bound to Q1 using a bind variable
Q3 is bound to Q2 using another bind variable
For a certain record in Q1 the output should be
2 records in Q2
and 1 record in Q3 for each record in Q2
Q1 record
Q2 record A
Q3 record AA
Q2 record B
Q3 record BC
The results conforms to the expected output.
For another record in Q1 the output should be
2 records in Q2
and 2 records in Q3 for each record in Q2
Q1 record
Q2 record A
Q3 record AA
Q3 record AB
Q2 record B
Q3 record BC
Q3 record BD
In stead of the expected output, the result shows
Q1 record
Q2 record A
Q3 record AA
Q3 record AB
Q2 record B
Q3 record AB
For another record in Q1 the output should be
5 records in Q2
and 2 records in Q3 for each record in Q2
Q1 record
Q2 record A
Q3 record AA
Q3 record AB
Q2 record B
Q3 record BC
Q3 record BD
Q2 record C
Q3 record CE
Q3 record CF
Q2 record D
Q3 record DG
Q3 record DH
Q2 record E
Q3 record EI
Q3 record EJ
In stead of the expected output, the result shows
Q1 record
Q2 record A
Q3 record AA
Q3 record AB
Q2 record B
Q3 record BC
Q3 record BD
Q2 record C
Q3 record CE
Q3 record CF
Q2 record D
Q3 record DG
Q3 record DH
Q2 record E
Q3 record DH
So for the last record of Q2 I don't get the appropriate records from Q3 when there are multiple records to be shown, but only the last record which belongs to the previous Q2
What is going on?
Please help me out...
Kind regards,
Jan-MarcelHi Tim,
Thanks for your reply. Below you will find the datatemplate on the scott/tiger schema.

Very strange problem / Perpetual command key
I've been using OS X since its inception, and have never had this problem before.
Starting yesterday, I noticed a very strange problem that was happening randomly. When I clicked on an app in the dock, it would just reveal the app to me in Finder rather than opening it. Other problems including multiple selections when single-clicking on items with my mouse, and not being able to type. After some fidgeting, I realized that my iMac is acting like I'm always holding down the command (apple) key. If I have a window open, for instance, pressing the H (just by itself) key will hide the window. Pressing Q will quit whatever is active.
I shut down, restarted, plugged in a different keyboard, used a different mouse, unplugged all my periphs, deleted all haxies and their attached files, and it still happened. I unplugged my 2nd monitor, and that seemed to fix it after another restart... but then I plugged in my 2nd monitor again and restarted, and now everything is fine. It's just happening randomly. I'm afraid to restart my Mac now. This is really bizarre!!!
Someone please help!If it's any help, it started right after the following:
When booted to Vista one night, I noticed ghosting on my nice new iMac screen which kinda irked me. I could see the menubar with the Spotlight menu icon burned into the screen.
So when I got back into OS X I looked for a menubar hider. I tried Menushade and Menufela, both of which are quite old... probably before any mention of an Intel switch had ever occurred.
But now I had a problem... no clock. So I went ahead and downloaded Yahoo! Widget Engine (aka Konfabulator). I know, I know... what a crazy workaround just to hide the menubar (this is why it would be GREAT if Apple would build in its own menubar hider option!)
Anyway, this stuff started happening, so I deleted all of those apps (Menufela, Menushade, and Yahoo Widget Engine) with AppZapper (a great little app).
Ugh... this is what you get for experimenting with homegrown apps, I guess.
Anyway, hope that helps. -
Very strange boot/device behaviour- please help!
hello!
i was quite happy with my macbook pro, when it one day did not boot anymore. i just saw the black screen and no startup sound was heard. i tried several times to restart, but no result. i gave up for some hours and when i came back it worked again.
i thought it might have been the humidity as sunnier days came their way and my macbook worked without any problem.
however, one month later i´m confronted again with this boot issue. so after the mbp has been turned off, i have to wait 30 minutes in order to be able to restart. if not, it gets stuck with the black screen.
i went trough the troubleshooting tips (SMC reset, PRam reset) and even made an archive and install. unfortunately without any result.
to make things worse my audio stopped to work also. first it did not even show up the devices -" no input/output devices found", after the archive and install the devices were found, but still no sound (except the startupsound)...
...i really do not have any clue what might be the problem, but as i am currently far from home and far from any apple support center, i would very much appreciate every hint or solution.
tnx

macbook pro 2,33 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.9)hello again!
it's very strange indeed. my macbook was working without any problems again for 2 days. then i was playing music on itunes when the screen went black(please restart), i could hear some scratchy noises before. again i could not restart. after 30 attempts the computer booted and everything worked except the audio, it said "no output devices found". i noticed that after some hours of rest my computer returns to full funcionality. as i said, i have no means to bring my computer to an apple store. maybe someone can give me an indication of what might be wrong. here is the panic.log:
