Very strange thing after 10.7.3 update?
Everything seems to be working normal except the desk top BBC iPlayer which plays fine in a small window but when you go to full screen still plays the sound but the screen just goes black, no video?
I thought maybe the update knocked off one of the plugins or players but reinstalled iPlayer and same problem, anyone got a workaround or suggestion as to how I can fix it, am I the only one?
Full screen YouTube works fine.
Everything else seems ok, maybe running a little hotter and the fans are kicking in a little sooner but does feel a little snappier.

What IS going on here?? My friends, colleagues, and students (I teach college) are mystified by these ancient messages.

A very strange thing . . .

Hi all,
A very strange thing just happened. One track in a project, which has several regions, just stopped playing back! All other tracks play fine. Even the track that stopped playing back, when selected, is still active, i. e., my midi controller still plays the software instrument associated with the track. All of the info is still there; I can see it all in the piano roll, the score . . . everything.
One clue, which I'm not sure how to describe, is that in the problem track, all of the regions have changed color and now have a little dot in their upper left corner. So, the regions which were all green, the default color, are now gray and green, but have the little dot at the top left.
Oh, this happened by accident while I was recording on that track. I was attempting to record a new region between two other regions, then suddenly this happened!!
Anybody know what's going on here?

thanks for the gray tracks thing. I have worked with Performer since 1985. I am having the hardest time simply getting around on logic express. Copying, pasting, setting regions. I record and sometimes it doesn't erase the previous info. I paste a track and it goes to another track. How do I erase measures on one track? Sorry for the lack of clarity in this question but the manual has been hard to understand. COuld I call you? I know the answers are easy. I don't see the logic in logic. Very strange thing happening

I developed a spreadsheet today and had a very strange thing happen while I was working in Numbers.
Every minute or so Stuffit Expander would open and expand a file and place it on my computer. It started out as a quick flash on the screen and would be gone in an instant. I saw that it was being made by Stuffit so I opened up Stuffit and went into Prefs and told Stuffit to ask before expanding the file. This, then, stopped the process so I could see what was going on.
A folder was make called "[file name].numbersFolder"
Inside the folder are two files called: "buildVersionHistory.plist" and "index.xml". Along with these files is a "QuickLook" folder that has a thumbnail of the spreadsheet I am working on inside.
The xml file is large and has several URL's embedded including the Apple developer site (http://developer.apple.com/namespaces/sfa).
Can anyone tell me what is going on here.

If I recall, this is StuffIt expanding what it thinks is a ZIP file. It is correct, in a way, but you don't want it to do that. I do not have StuffIt so I do not know what settings it has. Hopefully it has one along the lines of "automatically unzip zip files" and you can turn it off.

Strange issues after 10.6.4 update

I've noticed a few weird things after upgrading to 10.6.4:
1) All my fonts in Microsoft Office applications have been set to default. After changing then, they still revert back.
2) When browsing the web, TinyMCE boxes display weird characters when I enter text

Did you update to 10.6.4 via the combo updater? If not then download it:

Repair Permissions using Disk Utility, run the updater and then Repair Permissions again.

Strange things after updating.

I just found out that whenever i plug in my 30GB iPod Photo, it shows the icon on the desktop, it updates whatever it needs to then the icon disappears from the desktop, as if i had taken it out, but it still shows in iTunes that it's hooked up.

Check whether disk mode on the iPod tab in iTunes preferences is enabled. If disk mode is enabled, the iPod should stay mounted on the desktop after the sync is finished, otherwise it'll disappear.

New SMS icon having strange issues after 7.1.2 update

Hi guys,
Since updating to the latest iOS 7.1.2 a weird thing is happening with my SMS function.
As you can see from the screenshots below one of the icons is permanently shown, regardless of whether I click through elsewhere. This error is also affecting the points at where a click is recognised.
Has anyone had a similar experience with this? It isn't stopping me using the device...but it's just a bit annoying.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
No data will be lost.

A very strange thing happening with Nokia Map Load...

I am trying to load new maps onto my x6.
When I click on Nokia Map Loader it tells me that another instance of the programme is running and that I need to close that one down first.
But this is not the case. I have no other programmes running.
It mentioned that I might have the maps updater programme running. Again that wasn't true.
I uninstalled both and started again.
Same problem.
I try launching map loader through pc suite. Same thing.
I am really flummoxed and I hope someone can help.

Did you set up "hot corners" for Expose?
I bet you have the up/left corner set for "Application Windows" then when you move over and have no apps open you get the warning noise. When you move slowly you just don't hit the corner to triger expose

IPad is acting very strange, also after hard reset. No sliding to open possible.

It all started with my iPad doing things on its own, opening and closing apps, starting music, skipping songs and opening photo's. All without me push any buttons, so I did a hard reset, tried to restore it. But not I cannot not even open my iPad, when I try sliding to open, it i not working at all. Not even after another hard reset and new configuration. Some kind op virus seems to have caused damage. Any advice on what to do next? I am clueless,

Just to reiterate what Tedfixit said - I would book an appointment at the Genius Bar as well. If you restored it and it is still acting up, the device should be evaluated.

Macbook Pro Headphone Jack, a very strange thing going on with it? help

My Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2011 has had this very annoying small issue for over a year with the headphone jack. Sound only plays through the headphone jack as per normal when i restart the laptop, but once i remove the headphones and plug them back in sound isn't going through the headphone, it's going through the speakers as if headphones aren't plugged in, to have it working as normal i have to restart the laptop again.
Is this a hardware or software issue?
Please help me resolve this..

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Since this is a brand new MBP under warranty, the best thing to do is to contact Apple and tell them about your difficulties. If you have access to an Apple Store, you might want to bring your Mac in and show them what it is doing. This does not sound at all normal, and it's very possible that you have hardware issues involved. If so, you should be eligible for a repair under warranty or possibly even a replacement if you are still in the first 2 weeks of ownership.

Strange things after -Syu

just did pacman -Syu and rebooted ... now every time i open a terminal (urxvt and xterm) this happens...
everything else seems to work fine. it's only the terminal that does this.
below is my /var/log/pacman.log from today. i noticed that several things from xorg were replaced / installed.
anyone have any idea how to fix it.

You can try. I'd refer you to ATI wiki for specifics. I tried disabling KMS, enabling KMS, changing driver...
And as loafer suggests do some searching in the forum. I've seen posts w/people having a similiar problem as this.

Strange things happened when iTunes was updated...

okay.... so I finally decided to 1. update my ipod software itself, and 2. update itunes. So....all was well... and I plugged in my ipod nano, mainly for charging purposes... NOW...even though all I did was update my iTunes... It's telling me I have it in 2 different libraries and that's not allowed and I must erase it and synch it to this library. Why did it do this when I did what iTunes WANTED me to do? If I do what it says....what's going to happen? My library is nonexistent on iTunes now, and there'e clearly no way for me to erase it and have everything put back on there if it's not in iTunes at all... it will be erased right? How do I fix this problem?

Niel.....thats not what happened at all. There is nothing on another computer...all that happened was I updated it like it wanted me to, and now NOTHING shows up in iTunes and it wants me to erase my entire ipod and synch it up with the updated AND empty iTunes. There is nothing for me to put onto it...thats why there is a problem. iTunes was fine, and all that is new is it was updated and now it says it exists in more than one library...it doesn't...there is no other library. My ipod has music on it but iTunes won't do anything with it...

Apex working ...but very strange thing happening

My forms is working ok in apex. I am able to click button and generate new id and save the record,i can see the new id in the table in the db .But the problem is when i checked the same record using oracle forms 6i ,i was able to search the record but in the details block its showing null.
The existing forms are working ok for all the records,but when i use the apex form to generate id then its showing null details for that records.
Please advise.

hope you are generating id through sequence. is the sequence created by you or if you are using sys_guid and if sys_guid sequence you would have used to_char and under format 'xxxxx.....xxx' would have been used. It is strange if i give less than 32 'X's, i am also facing your problem in apex itself too.

Strange thing after upgrade to LR 5 last evening....

Purchased a full version LR 5 last night and installed. Directly below the Histogram for EVERY Image in my Catalogue it states: "! Photo is missing" however it ISN'T missing, all the previous adjustments are still there and any of them will open up in Photoshop as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers,

NO that's whe WEIRD part, Sumit. Nothing was moved or unplugged and reconnected... nothing has changed at all.
Now, I'm sure I could have WORSE problems as all of the Processing has remained intact on everything I've looked at but here's the rub....
If the Photo WAS missing I couldn't make any further changes with the sliders, which I CAN.... and it certainly wouldn't open up in Photoshop.

Strange problems after installing Solaris 10 u6 on 64-bit PC

I have run into some very strange issues after installing Solaris 10 update 6 on my 64-bit PC (it's almost new). The problems are with graphical applications and desktop environments based on GTK (so it seems, at least).
I have installed Solaris normally, following most of the default options and choosing the "Entire Group" software packages installation. However, after the first login I've seen that:
1. No user creation process was offered to me and I had to login as root (I find it pretty strange)
2. After logging in as root into JDK system, my screen went blank for a couple of seconds and then the system threw me back to the login screen.
3. Logging into the old CDE environment was possible, but launching Firefox from there (using a command line terminal) wasn't. It gave me the following error message:
ld.so.1: firefox-bin: fatal: libmlib.so.2: open failed: no such file or directory
ld.so.1: firefox-bin: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/bin/firefox/firefox-bin: symbol gtk_init: referenced symbol not found.
It's very strange because GTK toolkit and JDK environment are supposed to be the core functionalities provided by Solaris. Does anyone have an idea what's going on?

I use my system in the following way:
On the first hard disk, I have a one-partition 32-bit Windows XP SP3 installation (ported from my old computer).
On the second hard disk, I have a functioning Fedora Core 9 installed on the first half of the disk's space (the installation is self-organized into several Linux partitions, e. g. /boot, /swap etc; I am a newbie so I don't know too much about Linux partitioning - only specified to Fedora how much space it could use for its volume group). I installed Solaris onto the second half of the second disk.
It has be noted that my USB external drive seemed to conflict with the network or graphics cards during the Fedora installation and caused it to hang sporadically, so I installed Fedora with this disk detached. I also detached it when I was installing Solaris, though it seems to have not influenced the problems I experienced. I also have attempted installing Solaris before I did so with Fedora, but had the same issues.

Well, it seems that the cause of the problem was that my DVD image was just corrupted - I didn't check it vs MD5 codes supplied by Sun assuming it went automatically OK. I downloaded the image again (this time it was OK), reinstalled the system and successfully logged into JDS. However, I am still puzzled why Solaris doesn't offer to create a default non-root user during the installation process.
