Very urgent ----Background job
Hi all,
I had executed a Program in background, job got finished but there is one error log saying that
<b>No external transaction was assigned to internal transaction 0020 / 0010</b>
but when i debug in foreground,it is going to that error message line but not displaying the error message,
same case when i debug with sy-batch = 'X' also
only when i schedule ,it is showing that error message
Hi.
You have the possibility to debug a program as a job. For that you have to call transaction sm37 and display your job. When you mark your special job and type in the command jdbg (job-debugging) you are able to debug the program with all system-settings like the job-run.
In the first step you are (in the debugger) somewhere in standard-programs. When you press several times F7 you will come to your programm. An other possibility to get there is to set a breakpoint in your program.
Hope this helps.

Is there any way to restart Cancled Background job
Dears,
Now we have a very important background job need to run everyday, but sometime it will be canceled due to memory is not enough.
Is there any way to restart Cancled Background job automatically ?
Thanks,
MichaelHi Michael,
To start the cancelled job manually
At SM37 just mark the job then click Job -> Change and just reschedule.
For auto
Create another job with same program name and variant , then create background processing event which gets trigger only when your job gets failed.
For Event Creation kindly reach out to ABAPers and for Event based Scheduling you can contact basis team.

Hi,
I have created a "process workflow" using OWB and deployed it successfully. Now, I would like to schedule this process. I have installed management server and tried to schedule it but all in vain. I am not able to understand anything. I have read "oracle administrator pdf" and couldnt understand anything. Please dont advise me to read any notes or pdf's because I have tried a lot and was not able to figure out the configuration.
I have a target database named "TARGET". I would like to schedule the workflow process I have created. I am not able to understand preferred credentials and how to execute the XML script generated by the "process workflow". Please help me coz its very urgent.
-AdityaWhy dont you try this? I found it after few tries,
In the create job dialog box
under General
for Override Node Preferred Credentials for entire job
username and password should be the NT or Unix
login where your Runtime database Server reside.
under Parameter
for Override preferred credentials
username and password should be of your runtime

Issue in background processing- Very Urgent
A custom program which is scheduled to run every day as a background job, Failed yesterday with the below system log:
R3JD: SQL UPDATE FAILED. Error in ZMOMPO05. Contact R3JD Support. R3JD
Additional Info: A2000_UPDATE_PROCESS UPDATE ZMPOR FAILED.
Additional Info: SY-SUBRC RETURN CODE: 4
Transaction termination ZZ 999 ( ZMOMPO05 )
It got failed while trying to update a custom table, but when we tried to run manually in the foreground it got completed successfully, and also the problem was only for that day, as it was doing well before it failed yesterday and even today it has completed successfully as a background job itself .
I am doing an RCA on this, any sought of help would be appreciated.
Thank youHi,
Lets take a look at the help for the UPDATE command:
SY-SUBRC = 4 - At least one line was not able to be changed, either because no appropriate line was found, or because the change would generate a line that leads to double entries in the primary key or a unique secondary index in the database table.
To keep it simple I will assume the Z table does not have a unique secondary index. It is most likely that the update failed because the program tried to update a record that did not exist in the Z table. The best you can do is add reporting to the Z program so should the problem occur again you will know exactly why. You can do this by adding a SELECT statement that tries to read the record you are about to update and report an error if the record does not exist. To improve performance you could execute the SELECT after the UPDATE fails just to prove it is missing data.
Alternatively you could replace the UPDATE with a MODIFY statement so the record will be created if it does not already exist. -
Please help me in creating jobs...very very urgent .

Urgent..How to delete background job permanently....!
Guru's!
How do i track that background job... that is running for every 5 mins,
In sm37 i know the job name , it is executing for every 5 mins, and that is interrupting , and causing me huge prblm.
my basis person suspended the job , but that is started executing again from yesday.
I found that job name in sm37 like below
BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG,
more than that m not getting any additional info abt it..
I can say this is the job that is interrupting R3 transaction
Guys pls advise me How do i get related info abt taht job...
n pls provide me sol'n to delete it permanently..........
Thanks
SrujanHI,
Report - RSBATCH_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG is shceduled in BW every particular minutes to write an application log ,this report is having job name BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG .
This report must neither be descheduled nor deleted, as long as BW is working live, because otherwise any error messages that appear are not written to the application log.
This log files can grow large (intensive read on table
TBTCO and TBTCB ),especially logs from Job BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG and might impact some of the performances like system slow down.
Check unused Job logs with Report RSBTCDEL2 and clean out if

Background job fails for BDC profile creation and role assignment
Hi Experts,
I have created a BDC Function module for Tcode 'PFCG' for profile creation and role assignment, and called this FM in my zprogram. the problem is that when i run this program in foreground it executes succesfully, but if i schedule it in background it fails throwing error in job log 'Role 'Z...' does not contain any active authorizations'. But i have created one more program to create authorization objects which runs before this zprogram.I have also checked the authorization object in 'RSECADMIN', it reflects active. I dont understand whats happening exactly when it runs background.
Below is the process of job
1. ZMIS_AUTH_OBJECT_CREATE
Variant : auth-create
2. ZMIS_AUTH_ASSIGN_TO_ROLE
Variant : auth-assign
The problem is in second program, runs in foreground but fails in background.

Yeah definately, my requirement is that I have to access of some BI reports to certain users, so contract data will be downlaoded from ECC on application server, need to read that file from application server and for the each contract i ahould create a authorization object, role creation and assigning of role to the user and profile generation and activation.

Very urgent:To find IDOC list in RSMO(BI 7.0)
Hi all,
Its very urgent to know, for a particular load IDOCs used to run to process the data&dialogs,in 3.5 we used to get the IDOCs list in RSMO screen itself, but in 7.0 is not having that options, please tell me for a particular load where we can find list of IDOCs?
Regards,
GTR.Hi,
This info may be helpful.
Transact RFC error
tRFC Error - status running Yellow for long time (Transact RFC will be enabled in Status tab in RSMO).
Step 1: Goto Details, Status get the IDoc number, and go to BD87 in R/3,place the cursor in the RED IDoc entroes in tRFC
queue thats under outbound processing and click on display the IDOC which is on the menu bar.
Step 2: In the next screen click on Display tRFC calls (will take you to SM58 particular TRFC call)
place the cursor on the particular Transaction ID and go to EDIT in the menu bar --> press 'Execute LUW'
(Display tRFC calls (will take you to SM58 particular TRFC call) ---> select the TrasnID ---> EDIT ---> Execute LUW)
Rather than going to SM58 and executing LUW directly it is safer to go through BD87 giving the IDOC name as it will take you
to the particular TRFC request for that Idoc.
OR
Go into the JOB Overview of the Load there you should be able to find the Data Package ID.
(For this in RSMO Screen> Environment> there is a option for Job overview.)
This Data Package TID is Transaction ID in SM58.
OR
SM58 > Give * / user name or background (Aleremote) user name and execute. It will show you all the pending TRFC with
Transaction ID.
In the Status Text column you can see two status
Transation Recorded and Transaction Executing
Don't disturb, if the status is second one Transaction Executing. If the status is first one (Transation Recorded) manually
execute the "Execute LUWs"
OR
Directly go to SM58 > Give * / user name or background (Aleremote) user name and execute. It will show TRFCs to be executed
for that user. Find the particular TRFC (SM37 > Req name > TID from data packet with sysfail).select the TrasnID (SM58) --->
EDIT ---> Execute LUW
Also
Check Note 561880 - Requests hang because IDocs are not processed.
thanks,

Hi,
i am debugging the program in background mode,
first time i was successful in capturing the job,
second time it is giving error, capture job is failed.
sm37 , jdbg also not working, its given error like bebuggin is not possible in active mode.
in sm50 transaction, it is giving some information message like user reached maxium debugging modes. some error.
please help me, it is very urgent
thanks in advance
points will be rewardedHi,
change source code in a way like this:
DATA:
stop_for_capture.
DO.
IF sy-uname NE 'HABICH'. "change to your account
EXIT.
ENDIF.
IF NOT stop_for_capture IS INITIAL.
EXIT.
ENDIF.
ENDDO.
So you have enough time to capture.
proceed by changing value stop_for_capture.

Failed to Run OLE Excel program in background JOB (SM36)
Please help.
I have write a program to use OLE to create a Excel file.
The program can run successful in front end workstation. However, when I run the program in background job by SM36.
The statement "CREATE OBJECT EXCEL 'EXCEL.APPLICATION'" return with error "SY-SUBRC = 2".
How can I solve it ?
Can OLE Excel be run on background job ?
Thanks so much,
MarkHi Mark:
Your need is a very common one. I also was asked to generate an Excel in Background.
It is not possible to work with OLE in background mode.
The reason is: In background mode there is no presentation server. OLE is executed in presentation server.
Below I paste the code I wrote to solve my problem.
This class sends a mail with an excel attached. The Excel content will be the internal table you pass to the class. But the Excel is not binary, it is a plain text file, separated by tabulators. Anyway, when you open it with Excel, the columns are properly shown.
Sorry. Comments are in spanish, I don't have time to translate it.
I kindly ask to everybody which want to use it to keep my name in the code.

Background job in APO does not start because of invalid user name
Hello,
I have a macro in a planning book and the /sapapo/cons_check program which a triggered via a background job. Now, I have problems with the start of the job:
At the time the job was created inside SAP, an error occured. The job contains invalid values.
The user name within the job does not exist any more.
Now, I try to change the user name of the job (via step in sm37), but the error occured again.
I have the possibility to create the invalid user name once again in su01.
But I want to change the user name of the job - does somebody know how to do it?
Thanks for your help!
Kind regards
HeinzHello Heinz, this looks surprising.
It's quite easy to change the user name in the SM37 job step, and we haven't faced issues with this.
Could you check how many jobs are in either "scheduled" or in "released" status, and change steps for all of them? May be you changed the scheduled job, but the released job wasn't changed.
Use your job name and give a search date as 1-2 years in the past, and around 1 month in the future. With this time horizon, you should most likely be able to capture all the relevant jobs having the same name that you are using.
Now change the user name in step for all the jobs received above to be fully sure.
One more trial could be to copy the current scheduled job to another job, modify the user name in this newly created job and then delete the old one.
One of the above trials might possibly help you in some way, else its very tough to understand/explain your situation.
Thanks - Pawan -
Hi,
I am scheduling a report to run in background.
In this report it is creating background jobs automatically for different company codes.
It submits the 1st background job and waits until it finishes.
Then 2nd job starts in background and continues with other jobs.
At end it finishes all the jobs and closes.
Now my problem is.
1. Whether is it possible for us to submit all the jobs at 1 time. And execute at same time. Ie., 1st, 2nd job will start at same time.
2. If possible how can we do that.
What I have written is
loop at companycode.
Create job name.
call fun 'Job_Open'.
submit xxxx user sy-uname via job job_name numer job_count
to sap-spool
spool parameters l_spool_parameter
without spool dynpro
with companycode
with ......
and return.
endloop.
Please help ASAP, urgent.hi praveen,
Job Scheduling Explained
Definition
Before any background processing can actually begin, background jobs must be defined and scheduled. The scheduled time for when a job runs is one part of the jobs definition. There are several ways to schedule jobs:
From Transaction SM36 (Define Background Job)
With the "start program in the background" option of either Transaction SA38 (ABAP: Execute Program) or Transaction SE38 (the ABAP editor)
Through the background processing systems own programming interface. (Many SAP applications use the internal programming interface to schedule long-running reports for background processing.)
Through an external interface.
Scheduling Background Jobs
Use
You can define and schedule background jobs in two ways from the Job Overview:
· Directly from Transaction SM36. This is best for users already familiar with background job scheduling.
· The Job Scheduling Wizard. This is best for users unfamiliar with SAP background job scheduling. To use the Job Wizard, start from Transaction SM36, and either select Goto ® Wizard version or simply use the Job Wizard button.
Procedure
1. Call Transaction SM36 or choose CCMS ® Jobs ® Definition.
2. Assign a job name. Decide on a name for the job you are defining and enter it in the Job Name field.
3. Set the jobs priority, or Job Class:
· High priority: Class A
· Medium priority: Class B
· Low priority: Class C
4. In the Target server field, indicate whether to use system load balancing.
· For the system to use system load balancing to automatically select the most efficient application server to use at the moment, leave this field empty.
· To use a particular application server to run the job, enter a specific target server.
5. If spool requests generated by this job are to be sent to someone as email, specify the email address. Choose the Spool list recipient button.
6. Define when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition and completing the appropriate selections. If the job is to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom of this screen.
7. Define the jobs steps by choosing Step, then specify the ABAP program, external command, or external program to be used for each step.
8. Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.
9. When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
Note: Release the job so that it can run. No job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can run without first being released.
Specifying Job Start Conditions
Use
When scheduling a background job (either from Transaction SM36, Define Background Job or CCMS ® Jobs ® Definition), you must specify conditions that will trigger the job to start.
Procedure
Choose the Start condition button at the top of the Define Background Job screen.
Choose the button at the top of the Start Time screen for the type of start condition you want to use (Immediate, Date/Time, After job, After event, or At operation mode) and complete the start time definition in the screen that appears.
For the job to repeat, check the Periodic job box at the bottom of the Start Time screen and choose the Period values button below it to define the frequency of repetition (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or another specific time-related period). Then choose the Save button in the Period values screen to accept the periodicity and return to the Start Time screen.
Once youve completed specifying the job start conditions, choose the Save button at the bottom of the Start Time screen to return to the Define Background Job screen.
No job can be started until it is released, including jobs scheduled to start immediately. Since releasing jobs can be done only by a system administrator from the job management screen (Transaction SM37) or by other users who have been granted the appropriate Authorizations for Background Processing, no unauthorized user can start a job without explicit permission
Managing Jobs from the Job Overview
Use
The Job Overview, or Job Maintenance, screen is the single, central area for completing a wide range of tasks related to monitoring and managing jobs, including defining jobs; scheduling, rescheduling, and copying existing jobs; rescheduling and editing jobs and job steps; repeating a job; debugging an active job; reviewing information about a job; canceling a job's release status; canceling and deleting jobs; comparing the specifications of several jobs; checking the status of jobs; reviewing job logs; and releasing a job so it can run.
Procedures
To display the Job Overview screen, choose CCMS ® Jobs ® Maintenance or call Transaction SM37. Before entering the Job Overview screen, the system first displays the Select Background Jobs screen. You'll need to complete this Job Selection screen to define the criteria for the jobs you want to manage. Once you've selected jobs to manage, you can choose from a wide range of management tasks:
To copy a single existing job, choose Job ® Copy.
To reschedule or edit job steps or attributes of a single job, choose Job ® Change. A job step is an independent unit of work within a background job. Each job step can execute an ABAP or external program. Other variants or authorizations may be used for each job step. The system allows you to display ABAP programs and variants. You can scan a program for syntax errors. You can also display the authorizations for an authorized user of an ABAP job step.
To repeat a single job, choose Job ® Repeat scheduling.
To debug an active job, choose Job ® Capture: active job. Only a single selection is allowed. If an active job seems to be running incorrectly (e.g., running for an excessively long time), you can interrupt and analyze it in debugging mode in a background process, and then either release it again or stop it altogether.
You will be able to capture a background job only if you are logged on to the SAP server on which the job is running. To find server information in the Job Overview, select and mark the job, then choose Job ® Job details.
To review information about a job, choose Job ® Job details. Details displayed can include:
current job status
periodicity, or the repetition interval
other jobs linked to the current job, either as previous or subsequent jobs
defined job steps
spool requests generated by the current job
To cancel a job's "Released" status, select the job or jobs from the Job Overview list and choose Job ® Release -> Scheduled.
To cancel a job from running but keep the job definition available, select the job or jobs from the Job Overview list and choose Job ® Cancel active job.
To delete a job entirely, select the job or jobs from the Job Overview list and choose Job ® Delete. Jobs with the status of Ready or Running cannot be deleted.
To compare the specifications of more than one job, select the jobs from the Job Overview list and choose Job ® Compare jobs.
To check the status of jobs, select the job or jobs from the Overview Job list and choose Job ® Check status. This allows you to either change the job status back to Planned or cancel the job altogether. This is especially useful when a job has malfunctioned.
To review job logs, select a job or jobs with the status Completed or Canceled from the Job Overview list and

Background Job Processing Spool Retention period
Hi ,
In my program i am calling another ABAP program and sumitting the same as a background job(using Job_Submit,Close etc.)
In this case i can view the Spool generated by the called program(using sm37).
But this spool exists for a very less period in the system. Is it possible to specify a retention period,as 90 days in my case.?
Pls Help !!!
Answers will be rewarded.
Regards,
Rohanhi Roahn,
You must set print parameters before the printing process starts.
When printing lists after creating them, the system uses the print format specified in the print parameters to split the completed list and fit it onto the print pages, truncating it if necessary.
When printing lists while creating them, the system uses the print format to actually format the list in the program.
Print parameters are set either interactively by the user or from within the program.
For each print process, the spool system needs a complete and consistent set of print parameters. In ABAP, the structure PRI_PARAMS (ABAP Dictionary) represent a set of print parameters.
When passing the print parameters interactively, the system displays a dialog box after starting the report, on which the user has to enter the most important print parameters.
It's shown below which input field of the Print List Output dialog window conform to which PRI_PARAMS component.
Input field----
Retention period
Component-------PEXPI
Meaning----
Number of days for which the system holds the spool request before deleting it. (Default value: 8).
