Very Very Wierd!

I am capturing some DV footage in FCP and when the capture is complete i see a file in the browser window which is just 10-15 seconds long but the footage originally captured is 2 hours.
However if i open these files from capture scratch in QT, they play their full length.
Anybody knows whats happening here?

FCP 6.0.3 QT 7.4.5
Shot on Panasonic DVC 200
3 tapes captured before were fine, trouble started with 4th one and its happening now with every tape.

Very wierd problem... can barely describe it

For some reason when I start some games the screen goes haywire. I dont even know how to really describe it. Everything will be unstable. For instace. I downloaded the Lord of the Rings demo for PC. When I started the game the sceen was blinking and flashing in a very wierd manner. I could see the characters, but It looked like the lighting was bouncing off of them wrong. It just look like the colors didnt know where they were suppose to be. Like I said, its hard for me to describe it because I absolutely have no clue as to what could be doing this.
I have the Geforce4 ti4400 128mb. It did this with the 30.82 drivers. I updated the drivers to the 40.71 drivers and it did that. Then I updated it to the beta 40.72 drivers and it is still doing that. Now in everything else as far as day to day computer activity, its fine. Nothing ever happens. Its only when I load some games. The last game it did this on was the Deadly Dozen demo. But it worked on the new James Bond and WWE Raw demo's.

Now, it doesnt look as bad in the screenshot because everytime I would hit the button to take it, the screen would calm down for the split second that I had the button pressed. But you can still see that its not right. Just imagine it being a lot worse than that. I really have no clue of what the problem is. Also it just does wierd flickering at times while in games. Can anybody help?
The pic may look a lil small to some and it may not look as bad while it is small. If it is, i guess you can just save it or something and zoom in and look at it a normal screen size. It really looks bad.

Very Wierd Error Code -39 on External FW...

I keep getting the following Error Code -36, when copy to any external HD FW400/800. This is plugged into a Belkin FW400 Powered HUB. I've gone and replaced this several times at the store thinking it was related to this, and the HUB is erally Powered/Plugged in. I have 4 other FW400 DVD and CD Burners also plugged into this including the iSight Camera.
"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "1234567_Scar.psd" could not be read nor written." (Error code -36)
Now if I take this file "1234567_Scar.psd", and StuffIt then the files copies over just fine to any of the External FW400's off te Belkin HUB. So I have been doing all this reformating of External HD's, splitting up RAID-5 configures, Mirrors, Stripes Sets, just trying to nail this down. I even went and sent back 8-250Gig HD's to Maxtore to be replaced by them, and all 8 come back with what look likes the same problem. I tried TechToll Pro 4.1 at $99.00, and althought all comes back Perfect, I see that the S.M.A.R.T. options are not supported in the 8 bay RAID I have - This should mean nothing at all. Then I start to think it's the PSD file format, so start to save in different Formats (Tiff, JPG, GIF, PDF, etc.) I was trying anything, I even went and reformated the OS on the G5 and started from the ground up reloading everything and all the keys again. Still Happens over and over - Can't Burn, or Copy to an External FW400 HD.
I pretty much ready to give up and buy one of those Drive Brackets that mount 4 more HD in front of the fans inside the G5, but then I worried about the power drain off the G5 power supply, and what this is going to do to the system over a long period of time.
Now I'm really upset because this is looking like I will never be able to use the External RAID again. Yes, I did have the G5 back to Apple so many times that they think I'm the local nut case that should go buy a Dell. I then begin my very serious dig into this more, and i find this artival on the Apple Chat site from 2000 saying that someone else had this going on too.
Solution: Unplug the iSight Camera from the BELKIN Powered HUB. BINGO!!! everything works!!! --- Still can't figure out why the iSight camera being off, but plugged into the HUB would casue all of this at all. Either way if anyone is having this nightmare, you may want to avoid this 3 month drag through the dirt and jut unplug the iSight , and move it to a direct port.

When you got the drive did you reformat it to "Macintosh Extended" aka HFS+ or did you leave it as the default FAT32 format?

Very wierd flash problem

Hi today i came back to my pc after leaving it to defrag over night, when i went on to youtube earlier it informed me that i didn't have flash installed when i know for a fact i did, so i went into add/remove programs and the flash activex and the plugin were not there! Last night there was Air/Flash ActiveX/Flash Plugin and Reader. The activex and plugin have just uninstalled themselves! When i look in program files there is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Player\AddIns\airappinstaller\" in that folder there is adobe air installer and a digest.s file, flash player folder is empty except addins folder and that folder is empty except for airappinstaller folder. Also in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash" there is Flash10n.ocx file ActiveX Control. WTH! Now this gets even better. When i go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer and download the file i get "install_flashplayer10_chrd_aih.exe" and it says "Description: Adobe Flash Player Installer, Company: Solid State Networks" When i downloaded the 11 beta i got "flashplayer11_b1_install_win_pi32_071311.exe" Description: Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 11.0 d1, Company: Adobe Systems Inc.
What the hell is going on here? i uploaded the "solid state networks" file to virustotal none of the scanners flagged it but there is community members who say it is malware. Sorry if i'm going a bit in circles i'm just completely stunned as to what's just happened this has never happened before. I really hope i can get some help on this, thank you very much.

I have my theory as for how your Flash Player got uninstalled. Do you have automatic updates (Flash Player) enabled?
It would also be interesting to know the contents of FlashInstall.log in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
As already indicated in the other topic, it would be best if you uninstalled the current Flash Player completely using http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and reinstall the latest version from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

Facing a very wierd situation - VBScript message box pop up

Hello Guys,
This is very weird scenario am facing. I have a program to run Launch.vbs which will prompt for Messagebox at end of the script.
I deployed the package to 3 machines (Windows 7) - To Device Collection
Always in one machine only i get the Message Box and
remaining 2 machines am not getting the Message box (the wscript.exe running in task manager hidden and no message)
Tried so many times, but same issue with these 2 machines. (Am sure i have selected proper options in Program --> Properties because in one machine i always get the message box)
Is that any machine policy preventing the message box to display ?? or anyother work around.
or any client settings i need to change (though all machine have same client setting - Default Settings)
Please assist, i need to deploy the package to production.

Sorry not getting you, //NOLOGO - prevents -banner/logo displaying at the execution time.
But my requirement is to get the Messagebox during execution
In my program i run only Launch.vbs earlier i tried with
cscript.exe Launch.vbs
But how same package i deployed to other machines, it not popping up a messagebox, it is running in taskbar no GUI.

HT3775 I inserted DVD but it can't be played. It is VOB file and no programs can play this DVD. Very wierd and disturbing.

New Powerbook G3 with very wierd HDD + VERY HOT!

Hi,
I just got my new Powerbook G3 Wallstreet PDQ and its hdd is so noisy. It seems to make popping sounds at points. Is this normal on the PB G3?
Also This powerbook is always very hot. If you put your hand alittle above the keyboard it feels like heat is coming out. The botton is also very hot. Is this normal on a PB G3 (There is a battery but it appears to be dead)

Apple Rules,
If you have an older HD that has ball bearings on the spindle instead of the newer fluid dynamic bearings, they can develop a whine which can become quite loud and annoying. The clunking could indicate a failing drive or it is just making periodic heat calibration adjustments or both events.
These powerbooks do cool by venting heat through the keyboard and also radiating heat through the bottom, and this is common. Always use the 'book on a hard flat surface so air can circulate under the bottom. These are really not laptops but portables.

A VERY wierd booting problem: no dual boot nor boot from ide

in reading the title, you're probably thinking that i haven't even booted successfully at all. in fact, my setup is a raptor 74GB (sata), seagate ide 200GB, and a seagate sata 400GB, and a western digital ide 80GB, with the raptor being the primary drive to boot from in the bios. in a normal boot state, my computer boots from the raptor and with absolutely no problems. the problem i'm having is twofold and i think they are related: firstly, if i load the setup for windows xp on the the 80GB (it's for a customer of mine), i set in the bios that it should load from the 80GB before the raptor and then i restart. before any boot happens it says that the boot failed and then attempts to run a few other boot agents, a couple by nvidia and one by intel (swear to god there intel in there, i dont know what it is doing on a amd board). i dont have the exact error written down but i fail to load from the ide. also, i have wanted to run a dual boot windows xp/fedora core 3 x86_64 from 2 different partitions on my raptor. fedora installs fine and when it comes time for a boot loader to ask me whether i want windows xp or fedora, the screen never shows and windows loads. i did install fedora after windows so the issue shouldnt be there. i am not technically disinclined, very much the opposite however it bugs me that i can't do any of this. my bios is the latest 1.40, my motherboard is the k8n neo2 platinum, proc 3500+, ocz plat rev.2, if any of this information is at all relavent.

10.5.4 Safari being very wierd

I'm on a macbook running leopard (obviously) and this morning i opened safari to find my bookmarks all across the tab bar but also inside the file i keep them in.

I'm having the same trouble. It seems to be Finder & Photoshop that are causing it. I'll often find that when saving images with Photoshop, Finder will hang for a while. If I wait a minute or 2 it usually goes back to normal.

Very wierd problem with java.io.tmpdir!

1. I'm using a Java 5 / Windows 2000 system.
2. My Windows TEMP env var is set to: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
3. Java reports the value of "java.io.tmpdir" to be: c:\DOCUME~1\johndoe\LOCALS~1\Temp\
4. This folder does NOT exist on my system. So I wrote code that checks for its existence and creates it if it's not already there.
5. However, the output I get is:
Original value of tmpdir = c:\DOCUME~1\johndoe\LOCALS~1\Temp\
Dir 'c:\DOCUME~1\johndoe\LOCALS~1\Temp' already exists.
Further, when I tried creating a file in the above folder from a similar Java program, the file was reported to have been successfully created, but when I searched, it was nowhere to be found
I'm quite puzzled. Is the file in RAM or something?!! Has someone faced this problem before? Your quick response would be greaty appreciated because the issue seems to very trivial and I've already run out of things to try!

Well, I was aware of these Windows abbrevs. My system does have the folder

Need help!!! ipod touch acting very wierd!!!

i went on vacation and i tried to listen to my ipod. i tried to turn it on but it wouldnt work. i tried to hold both buttons down and it turned on, but it would turn on, show the apple logo, shut off, and then do the same thing over and over until i reset it again.then it would just turn off. i tried connecting it to my computer when i got home. itunes said it was in recovery mode and i had to restore it. i tried but i got a message saying an unknown error 1603 occured. after that it wouldnt turn on at all. i looked again today and it turned on, but like before only if i held both buttons down to reset it. now it has a lot of random numbers and letters and then it says this at the bottom:

those are the only actual words on the screen. its really wierd. also, i clicked on "about itunes" in the help menu. it said itunes 7.6.2.9. i think thats the version of itunes i have. but my ipod was acting wierd before i plugged it in so i dont think that would make a difference. please help.

Motion crashes after all tumbnails turn orange!! very wierd

I have been having all the thumbnails in my Motion 3 turn orange. Then in about 10 sec or so it crashes. I am working a 3D project. I have re-installed and it did not help.
any sugestions?

i spoke with Apple tech support. They have had calls about this same problem. They think it is the software, not the ATI 1900 card. I can recreate this problem using any outside media. Only happens when working in 3D mode. They think the VRAM on the graphics card is filling up and not emptying. I have sent Apple support projects, crash logs, screen captures, etc. I have been corresponding with them on this and will post a solution when I get it.
Crash Detials: working in 3D-using multiple video clips- give Motion about 10-30 min-thumbnails and currently selected video clip turn solid orange-prgram crashes within about a minute after that.

Now this is very wierd

I bought a G3 BW yesterday, with no hard drive, today I found an emac that was non working with a good 80 gig drive with osx on it.
Now for the G3 it has an adb keyboard and mouse, and a pci ati video card.
When I put the emacs drive in the G3 I got the apple logo and the clock, then it would shut off. I tried over and over for about 30 minutes and gave up and went and cooked dinner.
while eating dinner I tipped the keyboard on the floor with my shoe and wa la OSX appeared and operated. I know I must have tapped some sort of key configurating, but for the life of me I don't know which.
I did a reboot and got that same apple and clock again and it turned off.
Help, please..........................

Sounds like you have a sticky key on your keyboard and when you press down on 'massive keys' you are overriding the one or two keys that are stuck, allowing the CPU to ignore the incorrect keyboard command. Startup with only the mouse connected, no keyboard.

Why not? You have all the software for it on the drive you swapped. That CD/DVD drive is working fine in my first B&W. ( Odd thing of my own, though, ASP says it is burn capable but it is not. Toast does not see it as a burner, either.)

What's happened? this displays over all menus and still shows when phone is turned off. Phone has not been dropped or anything. it's 3 weeks old. help??

It's either a software fault or hardware failure.
Backup everthing you want to keep then download and install the nokia software updater:
