VF0640-NO MONITOR PICTURE

Greetings
This is my fist visit to this forum.
PC Details
WIN XP PRO SP3 - Fully updated/patched
Pentium 4 3.2
GPR - nVidia 6800 GT
I purchased the Socialize VF0640 in May this year. Install and setup no problem at all.
Last night, I did a Skype and when I called to do the video link, no picture appeared and the person the other end could not see me[no loss there perhaps]
After the call, I opened live central 2 and no picture there either.
As it was very late/early morning, I left any troublshooting till later today.
I had another go trying to find a way to get the picture/video working but no luck.
Decided to unistall everything[which proved almost impossible without using 'revouninstall'] from Control Panel/Add Remove. Out of the four items listed in Add/Remove, only one went on uninstall. Nothing would delete either from most folders for creative. Is this normal for creative stuff??
Having removed everything I reinstalled the cam and software with the disc provided, and I still have no video picture when I open the programe in System tray. Did not appear either when opening Skype. Snapshot does not seem to work either - but I only ever used this once before and have never recorded video.
I tried to find an instruction manaul, but could not.
No problems show in hardware manager.
If further info/details are required, please ask.

Hello Kokchoy
I have tried it on my desktop - all 8 USB slots and all USB slots on the laptop.
I am not inclind to try another reinstall etc as creative software is such a problem to uninstall - I dont install software over an aleady installed programme that leaves bits all over the computer. I clean every bit possible off of the computer first.
As yet, Creative support , via email, have yet to come up with any solution that works.
I think I will send it back to the retailer for replacement/refund.

  • Second monitor Picture-in-Picture?

    Here's what I'm using:
    White Macbook 4,1 (2008)
    HDMI cable
    Mini DVI to HDMI adapter
    HDTV
I've been using the TV as a second monitor. I know how to mirror the displays too; that's not what I'm inquiring about.
I would like the second monitor (TV) to be a picture-in-picture on my laptop. It would be cool to have a small, windowed view of the second monitor's activity on my primary monitor. This way I can do my work and watch TV in the other room, while my roommates watch a movie on the big screen. (I have a crazy long HDMI cable)
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Dave

Sorry I do not know of any third party utility that can do that and of course there's noting in OSX to do that on its own.
Physically there is no way to get video in to your machine except maybe using one of the Elgato products.

  • Dim Monitor Picture Compared With TV?

I first became aware of this a couple of years ago when I played a DVD (Broken Arrow) on my eMac.
The picture was disappointingly dull compared with the image on a TV.
I am certain there is nothing wrong with the eMac's CRT, and LCD monitors on other computers seem to be similar.
Videos in FCE or iMovie appear much darker than on a TV next to the Mac.
I decided to quantify the difference and used the exposure meter on one of my still cameras.
The 15" TV was producing a picture of 1.5 to 2 f-stops lighter. In other words it was 3 - 4 times brighter even though the eMac's monitor was set to maximum brightness.
Has anyone else noticed this? Why should there be such a difference as both screens are CRTs?
Under normal use the eMac's display is very bright - it's just that when you have a simultaneous TV picture to compare it with, there is a tremendous difference.
    Ian.

    Thanks for the explanation Tom.
I always thought we did it because of the colours and interlacing effects - I didn't realise the brightness could be so different.
It appears that people who watch DVDs or TV on a computer are foolish, as they could be viewing a much brighter and colourful picture without unecessarily wearing out their Macs.
A couple of years ago I accidentally filmed a Yoga display with the exposure locked (incorrectly low) on manual.
The resultant footage looked so underexposed as to be unwatchable on my Mac. I was going to erase it but luckily didn't, as when it was converted to DVD and played on a TV it was quite passable.

  • Have black block over monitor picture.

Upgrade to 2.0 went fine but when using it I find I have a large black box
inside the monitor screen that hides all of my picture except a small strip at the bottom. There I can see a tiny bit of the video I should be seeing a full screen of.
I've tried a normal M2V and wave file and then a few jpegs in a slideshow but the result is the same--mostly blacked out but a small bit of video at the bottom of the screen.
I've tried resizing the "monitor" but the black box just resizes too. I can move the box from one screen to the other (two monitor setup) but the black box just stays with it no matter what I do. I believe my video card is a Matrox G55 but might be Parhelia. It works great in After Effects 7 and Photoshop and in Encore 1.5 but with 2.0 there this black box!
I'm running Win XP SP2 on an HP XW6000.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I just checked and the video card on this rig is a Matrox G450. Could that be the problem? I don't see any list of capable devices for Encore 2.0 so I assume there are very few cards it wouldn't work with, but often when you have a black area replacing an area where there should be a graphic, it's because there's something lacking in the hardware department. Would that be a safe assumption here or should I be looking for something else?
My editor says that when the monitor is set to 1280 x 1024 we still see the black box in Encore 2.0 but now he says the screen elements are so small in After Effects 7 that the time lines just seem to blur together, so I'm hoping that Encore and AE7 can live together peacefully without having to just drop back to Encore 1.5 for good.
    Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

  • The issue is the monitor picture does not extend to all four corners?

When turning on my computer, I get the HP blue screen with the display not extended to the corners, but when windows 7 came up, it would properly go to all four corners. Testing windows 10, after startup, once the display boots up it is not extending to all for corners?

    AP7663, welcome to the forum.
I believe that you don't have the correct driver for the monitor or the Aspect Ratio is set incorrectly; most likely the correct AR is 16:9.

  • Yoga 2 Pro don't work with external monitor (picture attached)

I'm trying to connect my Y2P to my Dell 2407wfpp, 24" 1920x1200, (http://www.dell.com/downloads/emea/products/snp/2407wfp_monitor.pdf) and everything turns to a green-blue colour..
I'm connecting using a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable + a HDMI to DVI adapter.
In terms of troubleshooting I've done the following:
I've tried connecting the laptop using just the Mini HDMI to HDMI cable to two other screens (Samsung TV's and they both worked) So it seems that the cable works fine, and the laptop is capable of connecting and displaying on a second screen.
I've also tried connecting a different laptop (Dell Vostro 3500) vith a normal HDMI cable + the same HDMI to DVI adapter and this to works fine, so it seems that the HDMI to DVI adapter works fine (and so does the Dell screen)
What could be causing this? coud it just be the combination of the mini HDMI to HDMI cable and the HDMI to DVI adapter that's causing the issue? Or coudl this be a driver issue that causes this particular Dell screen not to work?
Really appreciate some help with this!
    (see below for image)

Your photos show the issue very well - They clearly "forgot" to leave a cutout in the left edge rubber bumper to allow the MicroHDMI to be inserted fully.
I guess one solution is to start cutting into the left edge side and make a cut out.  Not sure that would do our warranties any good!
Lenovo this is an easy fix for you to do !!
Until then, I have these two cable that seem to work well enough -- not perfect but usable.  There's the Cable Matters micro-HDMI to VGA adapter, I cited before.  Using it now.  Zero stability / disconnection problems.

The good thing about these is that they are CHEAP - $4-5 each.  So buy two and take a craft knife to one and "carve" away at the Micro-HDMI plug's rubber surround until it fits really snugly into the Yoga's recessed socket
This Monoprice adapter works for me and seems pretty stable without any "carving".  Lots of happy reviews on Amazon and Monoprice from Surface and tablet and phone owners using this successfully.  Nice to be able to use standard size HDMI cables with this.
The product description says "Very snug fit which will help to prevent HDMI connection problems of having cables come loose" -- which suggests to me they put some thought into this little guy and maybe why it works better than some of the others.
My guess is that other similar Monoprice cables would be a good brand to try (and cheap)

  • Program monitor and source monitor display issues

Hello, my program monitor is displaying strange colours (inverted?) when playing video. In addition, the source monitor will never display any video although audio plays back fine.
I am running on a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 laptop with Windows XP 32-bit and an Intel X4500MHD video card with the latest Lenovo-certified driver version.
From my testing, this problem appears regardless of project settings, file/footage settings, etc. I originally had the K-Lite codec pack installed although I have uninstalled that with no luck.
This problem surfaced from the moment I opened Premiere after first installing it and I have tried reinstalling the program, my video card drivers, and uninstalling the previously mentioned codecs.
Also I have a thread on this at the DVinfo forums which has had many responses although no working solution.

I would try whether killing these processes will help. It may well be that when you kill them all you may encounter hangs, because one or more may be needed for your machine. I would start by killing all Lenovo processes. One would expect that one of these processes may cause your problems, but unless you try it, you can't be sure. Unfortunately I don't have a Lenovo, so I can only guess.

  • [T430s] Small ripple on external monitor when power adapter plugged in

If I unplug adapter, external monitor picture is fine. But if it is plugged in, I can see small ripples on the screen.
    How can I fix it?
    Thank you.

Yes, the charging stops but the battery goes into a state that never discharges, which interferes with its life. This is what the Apple support said. Actually several of them confirmed that having it plugged in all the times will affect the battery life. They said to unplug it and let it discharge completely once a week to allow a full cycle to cycle to occur.
As you can tell, there is mixed information. They say one thing in an article and another on the phone. There is also a lot of opinion. The complete understanding will happen only when time passes with the computer constantly plugged in.
I speak from experience of having my older Macbook Pro plugged in for 7 years. I got the same story from Apple (battery stops charging - no harm done) Right. The battery overheats, it bulges, it presses on the chips inside and the mac goes crazy. Also the battery life goes down to only about 20 minutes after a year of  being plugged in. This new Macbook Pro may have a better battery technology and electronics but they were saying the same thing back than. The difference was that with the old Macbook Pro my battery replacement cost me $60 and it took me 10 seconds to exchange it. This time battery replacement will cost me $200 and will have to part with the computer for 4 days to have it replaced. And how often will I have to do that? I guess I will follow up on this discussion in a year to let you know the outcome.
I hope I was clear in expressing my concern.

@ Leinie: When you install any new software or updates, then it's always a good idea to repair permissions, so you will have a "clean" system afterwards.
Repairing permission also solves quite a lot of issuses with applications i.e. if they tend to hang, or crash. So this should always be one of the first things you do when something is not doing as it should on your mac.
    Glad that it works now

  • Install disk doesn't work with Windows Vista

I just bought a new HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw and the install disk isn't compatible with Windows Vista.  Apparently there's no ful feature option for Windows Vista on an HP laptop.  After several hours of work I downloaded several drivers and got the printer to print, but the scan function doesn't work that well without the HP software which hasn't been created for Windows Vista.

I am having a very similar problem but do not have an answer either.  I am running an X61 Type 7676A12 with a Lenovo ACP50 port replicator FRU part number 40Y8160.  I am running Windows XP Pro.  The port replicator has never been very great and would not restore the external monitor picture properly when the laptop had been in sleep mode however it was serviceable if not optimal.  After downloading and installing the October MS security updates the machine would get a BSOD when the port replicator was plugged in.  Remove the replicator and reboot and it worked ok.  Plug it in again and BSOD.  I tried upgrading the drivers from 5.1.4a to 7.1.1.03Aug07 and then to 7.1.2.  No go.  Emailing Targus with the problem got no response.  The port replicator is now relegated to my junk heap of useless rubbish.

  • Pdf's have got me down and are sitting on my chest...

    hi all.
i am about a year and a half into porting to mac and between my HP 8500 scanner (are the buttons on the machine supposed to work on this thing?!) and printing to PDF I am getting hammered.
when I scan a simple 2 page document i end up with two images that are - i think png - and roughly 10 MB in size. i am scanning in color as a default and used to have 200 dpi set. seems reasonable.
when i print these two pages to pdf is there a way to get a document that is less than 20 +/- MB? this is huge and won't go through email. can i do this in the settings somehow in Preview??
also, i have put the color sync icon on my dock but sometimes i don't get this to work very well. do i need to open the document in colorsync and then change each and every page? is there something to do other than running Reduce File Size? also, somehow changing a doc to greyscale from color totally rasterizes it and i can't read it? should i change the default settings??
i'd really love to print to pdf without getting a munga file and i'd love to reduce the file sizes of the 10 page 100 MB or 20 page 200 MB files that are scattered all over my HD at the moment.
    thanks for any help.

okay, hotwheels, let me see if I can help you....
firstly, the buttons on your scanner may work, try looking for an update at hp's website (twainsane may work, but it's not free). I managed to get an old HP scanner working in 10.6, and it had a usb, parallel and scsi port on it, that's how old it was, yet it still worked okay. secondly, try looking for a piece of software called combinePDF. as far as I know, when you use something like iPhoto and convert it to a .pdf, it'll probably end up around 20 megs or so. As for documents, try using Preview or Image Tricks for changing the color on a document. AKAIK, ColorSync is for adjusting your monitors picture, and how the colors are displayed therein. Try scanning to .png, or .jpg or something else. pdf is too darn big to go through email, I dunno what you are trying to scan and what you are trying to get out of it (text file, document, picture). I saw something called pdf ocr, that might be helpful for you..(solutions.weblite.ca/pdfocrx/ other than that, some kinda commercial software might be more up your alley.... or PDF Lab (dunno where to get that one, though)
I used to use Adobe Distiller, so that shows you how old I am, Iguess
    well, it's something

  • Soft proofing in Lightroom

In Aperture (dare I mention it?) there is a "View" setting for soft proofing. You input your printer model and paper and the display changes to the actual colors the printer will output. It comes pretty close. I can't find such a setting in Lightroom.
Canon 20D, Intel iMac 20, HP 7160, monitor frequently calibrated with a Spyder2 Pro, Lightroom V1.
If I import a photo from the camera into Lightroom, the colors on the monitor are quite different from the object shot. If I do NO editing at all, just print, the colors on the print are quite close to those of the subject though a long way from the monitor picture.
This is no help at all if I want to edit the photo in Lightroom...

    Yeah...LR lacks soft proofing presently.

    Results the same.
I even tried importing the original clip from the SD card into Encore and the results was the same.
In the Encore monitor, original layout with monitor small, you can see the pixels and the unclearness of the video.
Not even close to the quality with the Premier monitor
I am using a MAC Pro tower, dual Xeon processors, Apple 27” display.
    Thank you again…
What codec is the camera quicktime please? a MOV file is a container, and the source in it could be nigh on anything from AVCHD (unsuitable for editing), Long GOP MPEG, lossless, and anywhere in between.
Besdt approach (in addition to the excellent advice from SafeHarbour) is to import into Premiere and create a new sequence from the clip - this will make sure the sequence settings match the source - and then output (at least this is how I would do it) to an interim SD file first rather than scaling & data reducing at the same time. Use at least an 8-bit file, and I recommend the Aja 2VUY codec.
As to why the difference in the onscreen monitors - are they set up right? I got bitten by this one once, and it turned out the in the hamburger settings (the funny little icon for settings on top right of panel) was set to automatic draft quality......
The biggest problem really is the source - why 1080i please? Will the camera not shoot 1080p?
