VG 224 Startup Dialog

Is this what a an initial startup of a vg 224 should look like. It's an older version but it just frezzes once it gets to the point when it asks if I would want to configure it. Is there anything that seems off?

         --- System Configuration Dialog ---
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:

Carlo,
thanks for the info but I did try that and I found this
It does not affect any functionality of the router. It only cautions the user about unrecoverable crashinfo, so that user may configure other modes of collecting the Crashinfo.
Please configure:
exception crashinfo file slot0:crashinfo
Crashinfo would be written to the slot0 if the router crashes in the future.

  • SOA 11.1.1.6 startup error

Installed SOA Suite 11.1.1.6 - all seemed to install with no issues and the server came up with no problem. Couple of days later came up with 'many errors'. Shut it down and bounced the database (XE10g Universal) then the server came up with no problem and no errors. Was able to create a simple composite app: Web Service --> Mediator --> File Adapter. Thhis app was able to be deployed and was able to test it from EM with no problems. However, I noticed that when I had brought up the server I received the errors as seen below in the startup dialog - see bolded text below.
Question - what is going on in that I received the errors but was still able to deploy, test, etc.??
    Thanks - Casey

It appears to be possible, at least in IDM 7.1
The release notes and Installation guide reference a setting called waveset.serverId that you set in your application server startup script like so:
    -Dwaveset.serverId=Name
This would allow each JVM to identify itself differently from any others running on the same physical server.
I haven't tried this yet myself, so caveat emptor.

  • Odd Startup behaviour and cannot access tools- options menu

As of this morning my installation of LV8 will not display the normal startup dialog box (allowing you to open existing VIs or open a new one), but simply opens a new VI immediately.  If I close this new NI then again instead of returning to the start up dialog it opens a second new (blank) VI.    Furthermore I cannot open the Tools->option menu from within a VI front panel.
I've tried repairing the LV installation and when this didn't work I went for a full remove and reinstall - still no joy!
I've also check that this is not user specific, so that when I log in as a different user on the same PC I get the same behaviour
    Help - please !!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi AMHurrel,
    This sounds rather strange.
Did you change anything on your setup?
When you say you did a full remove and reinstall, how?
These are the steps I would follow:
The following procedure will remove the National Instrument Software:
    1.     Turn off the computer and physically remove or unplug all NI hardware that you have installed on your system.
This includes anything that is PCI-, ISA-, USB-, 1394-, or ethernet-based.
    2.     Turn the computer on and go through Add/Remove Programs (START » SETTINGS » CONTROL PANEL » Add/Remove Programs)
and remove everything NI-related. Generally, if you can remember, it is best to uninstall things in
the reverse order in which they were installed. For example, if you installed LabVIEW, then NI-DAQ, and then the
Internet Developers Toolkit for LabVIEW, you should uninstall the Internet Developers Toolkit first,
then NI-DAQ, and then LabVIEW last.
    3.     After everything has been removed (do not be concerned at this point if an item still shows up in the
Add/Remove Programs list after you have removed it), close all programs and restart your computer.
    4.    Go to START button of your operating system, choose RUN and type "regedit". This will open the Registry
Editor window. Go to the Registry Menu and choose Export Registry File. Select "All" for the export range,
and select a file name. This creates a backup of the Registry in case a mistake is made when deleting the keys.
    5.     Remove the following registry components from the Windows Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National Instruments Delete the entire tree!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments Delete the entire tree!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\ or \ISA and delete registry entries containing any
        keys with 1093 in them.
Do not worry if any of these trees are not listed. Continue with the remainder of the process .
Note: You may need to modify security policies. In Windows 2000/98/95/NT, go to [regedt32] then
Security>>Permissions. In Windows XP you can modify security options using Edit>>Permissions in the
        Registry Editor (regedit).
    6.     Close regedit.
    7.     Make sure that you do not have any of your own VIs or other files saved in the "C:\VXIpnp",
"C:\Program Files\National Instruments", or "C:\WINDOWS\nidaq" folders. If you do, copy them to a
different location. If you are concerned about keeping old virtual channels and your SCXI setup intact,
then backup the "C:\WINDOWS\niconfig.daq" file, too. Delete all folders and files mentioned above.
Note: If you have Windows NT/2000, replace "C:\Windows" with "C:\WINNT" in the paths listed above.
    8.     Save the attached file msiBlast.zip to your desktop.
        a) Extract the file msiBlast.exe from the zip archive.
        b) Double click on the downloaded msiBlast.exe file to run the executable.
    c) Choose the Show NI Installers Only selection.
    d) Using (Ctrl+Left Mouse Click) select all National Instruments Software that appears in MSIBlast.
    e) Press the Uninstall button. This will uninstall all of the National Instruments MSI Registry entries.
    f) Optional:
The Repair option will open the National instruments Installer Program and run the repair option within the installer.
Maintenance Mode will open the Installer Program and allow the user to modify the installation. To open the installer do not enter anything in the Command Line Arg? Dialog box.
    9.     Reboot your computer.
    10.     You should be ready to install your software. For the cleanest possible install, first install all of your
application development software, such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, etc. Do a custom install, so that you can
install just the application WITHOUT ANY DRIVERS. Reboot your PC when requested after each install.
Even if the installer does not tell you to reboot, it would probably be a good idea to do so anyway.
Now install your driver software and follow the associated user manuals. Some older non Plug-n-Play hardware
must be installed before the driver. Download the latest versions of the drivers that support your hardware
from our Drivers and Updates software library (link below), and install them one-by-one, rebooting after each
        install.
    11.     Finally, shut down and re-install your hardware. When you boot back up, it should be detected in MAX.

  • Help, which windows Service msut be on to run Adobe Bridge CS3?

    hi all,
I'm having trouble opening Adobe Bridge CS3, theres a windows popup that says "Adobe Bridge has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message when i try to start.
I can run the other Adobe Cs3 applications fine, i've been playing around with the disabling of windows services to increase bootup time. i'm afraid i may have accidentally disabled something necessary
pls advice on how to get it working.. i'm on win xp pro sp2
    thanks

When you get the "Bridge has encountered an error" popup box, check the technical info hyperlink to see what's the problem. It may point to a DLL that had an error.
From there, check the web to see what that DLL relates to, which may or may not give you a lead. Maybe something that needs to be running in WinXP, maybe a 3rd party product that needs to be fixed/removed/re-installed.
Why do I say this? I had the same issue on Bridge after getting the trial version. Worked for a while, then suddenly stopped working with the same startup dialog box and a quick shutdown. Digging a bit as above pointed to a DLL that was related to Quicktime. I went to the Apple site and downloaded/installed the latest version of Quicktime, and the Brige problem was cured.

  • Recurring finder crash on quicksilver and older G4

I've been having some recurring finder issues on startup with a couple of different machines over the past month. When booting occassionally, I go through the Apple logo, the startup dialog box thing, and all seems normal till I only get a blue screen with a small upper right hand corner of the finder bar, basically, just the spotlight icon. It's been happening a few times over the past few weeks on two of my powermac g4s (an older PCI graphics machine and a quicksilver dual 1ghz).
I run tech tool, it says it finds and fixes some file problems with the finder, but it still won't startup, then I end up doing a system reinstall, and then it's fine. But both machine have then had this happen again at least twice.
the older g4 has a really new (less than one year old) maxtor drive in it, the quicksilver has an seagte that I think got put in the machine a year after it was purchased.
    Any ideas on this one?
powermac g4 pci graphics 350Mhz | Quicksiler Dual 1ghz   Mac OS X (10.4)   1gb Ram and 1.5 GB ram respectively

    What OS are you using?
    If OS 9.x, try this.
Trash the following Preference files & reboot.
    ASLM
    Finder
    Mac OS
    System
Doing this will change some of your Control Panel settings.

    < Edited by Host >

After reading through your other posts (most in Snow Leopard 10.6 area) and issues
remain, you may have to consider making a complete backup of your user folder &
account info, and any saved or created content, from your computer to an external
device, drive, clone or other means of archiving off of the computer.
    {Read through to the end, since not any one idea is the complete course of action.}
Then, when you have saved and verified as retrievable said contents, get your
stuff together and totally wipe the computer's hard disk drive, zero content, use
Disk Utility on booted Install DVD and choose a partition map, then reformat to
HFS+; and install a new system on a wiped clean hard disk drive. Update it.
Then migrate your previous user account into the Mac.
If the problem(s) in your computer which go back over months, are not resolved
by attacking their source or cause, they will be masked by other activity which may
not solve their root cause. Could be just a matter of corruption in a User account.
If the problem is in a user account, an Archive & Install (if space exists in HDD)
may bring in the problem to a new system.
Since the problem goes back to November 2010 in some form or another, this
job may include extensive review of what maintenance you perform regularly
to keep the computer running healthy; like: what you do, when, why, etc.
Perhaps it is time to actually restore full original function to the computer, and
hope the process will tell you if the hard disk drive or other component is failing.
A too full hard disk drive, or corruption of the content on the hard disk drive, can
cause slowness and other things to grind to a halt. You may need to boot from
the Installer disc and run Disk Utility from there, and have it Verify the HDD, and
if there is an issue, see if the utility can Repair the hard disk drive. If it can't, then
you may have to get a third-party disk utility such as DiskWarrior, on disc media.
If you have and use an externally enclosed hard disk drive unit with a chipset
controller within it to allow Mac OS X booting from that unit, then you can make
a full computer content clone (to a large external HDD) large enough to have
more than one partition so you can have more than one bootable clone on there
and also use it as a backup/storage for stuff on another partition in that drive.
You can get a great and free-running clone utility from Bombich software; it is
called Carbon Copy Cloner, a download. And get/use an externally enclosed
hard disk drive, one that is self-powered (not computer-bus powered) to do it.
Even starting the computer in SafeBoot mode, if it will, (shift key held down
on start up, wait while holding the key down, until a startup dialog box appears
to be sure you are really getting into SafeBoot; it may take 10 minutes) and
then when in SafeBoot, run Disk Utility's 'repair disk permissions' on the Mac HD
and when that's done, quit Disk Utility. Check the amount of used capacity of
the computer's hard disk drive against the total amount it had when new, and
note or write down the numbers. When done, restart the Mac normally.
You can also look into Activity Monitor (utility) to see what, if anything, is using
the computer's resources when the machine is running slower than expected,
and this can tell you what Apps and system bits are using Virtual Memory
(hard disk drive space used for swap files and temporary in/out memory) and
this is where free space available to the OS X is critical. This may be part of
the problem, if the hard disk drive is TOO full for the system & apps to work.
Hopefully this helps somewhat, and that someone else will have better ways
of writing shortcuts. I did not add outside links to this post, it is long enough...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Adobe Read Out Loud feature not working

Anyone else run into this.  We activate it, it scans the document looking for tags, then does not read it.  Any ideas?

    Hey there hdilios,
Just been trying to sort this one out myself, I noticed that you tried re-installing Adobe Reader with the same result.
Could it be that, when you installed the first time / updated and then re-installed, Adobe Reader Protected Mode was automatically re-applied by default. Read Out Loud will not function while in Protected Mode.
You must disable it to hear Read Out Loud document reader, it is quite safe to disable this additional security function, and the only way to make it work.
To disable Adobe Reader XI Protected Mode
    - Open Adobe Reader
    - Click menu item Edit
    - Select Preferences
    - Preference panel opens
    - Select Security (Enhanced) in Categories list
    - Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
    - Dialog opens Click Yes
    - Close Preferences
    - Close/Restart Adobe Reader
    - Open a document you wish to read
    - Activate Read Out Loud
    - Choose Option to read Page or Whole Document
    - or setup for Reading with the Accessability Assistant.
Hope this is the answer you are looking for, my Read Out Loud feature is functioning fine now it had me baffled for a while, thought my sound card was malfunctioning.
    Cheers Jethro

  • How to run Excel 2011 from applescript for batch

Every night at 2:00am, I want to convert an Excel spreadsheet to CSV.  I'm doing this on a Mac, with Excel 2011.  The following Applescript works sometimes:
    tell application "Microsoft Excel"
              open "/Users/siemsen/PetesLookup/BPO.inventory.current.xls"
save active workbook in "BPO.inventory.current.csv" as CSV file format
      close workbook 1 saving no
      quit
    end tell
With the above script saved in a file named convert.scpt, I can execute it from a bash script using the command "osascript convert.scpt".  The bash script runs in a launchd job at 2:00am every day.
It works if Excel is already running on the Mac at the time the cron job runs.  If not, it starts Excel, which insists on displaynig a "Excel Workbook Gallery" dialog box.  No one is present on the Mac at the time, so no one clicks on the "Cancel" in the dialog box, so the Applescript times out and the cron job fails.
How do I get around this?  Can I somehow start Excel without the **** "Excel Workbook Gallery" dialog?  Is there some other trick that will allow the job to run unattended?

In Excel preferences (general tab) uncheck the checkbox that says "Open Project Gallery when application opens".  that should remove the startup dialog.

  • Can GW 2012 Client function as standalone Web Mail client ?

I want to evaluate GW 2012 as an internet mail client, which connects to GMail using POP / SMTP.
After installing the GW 2012 client, I start up GW, but it doesn't seem to be able to connect with GMail. It 'hangs' on an info. box which reads either, "Connecting to Post Office Agent at pop.googlemail.com:0995", or "Connecting to Post Office Agent at smtp.googlemail.com:0465" (depending on the address I enter in the GW startup dialog).
Is the GW 2012 client able to function as a standalone internet mail client ? Does GW need to first connect to a GW Post Office account ? Is there some other way to get into the GW client and configure it ? Other clients (Notes R9, Outlook, Thunderbird) are able to connect directly to GMail.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Many thanks for the link, I did not know such a thing existed and was looking for this a while ago!
Do you know if this stores the mail it retrieves into its own "mini postoffice" ie basically using the same technology as Groupwise to manage the mail store? If so does it have a FID and can this be manipulated so the mail could be imported into a live Groupwise system later? Can you "name your FID" at install time (or with a tweak on a config file).
I know, I know, so many questions ... :-) Seems this is a really good project and engineered by some real Groupwise experts for the good of the community which is brilliant.

  • Urgent - Expired Password.

I am using Developer 6i. Here is the information from forms manual.
"The Oracle8 database server offers a password expiration feature that database administrators can employ to force users to update their password on a regular basis.
If your password has expired, Forms will offer you an opportunity to enter a new password when you log on. (You can also use the Forms startup dialog box to change your password before it expires.)"
How to use Forms startup dialog box to change password before it expires?

    Hi,
you can't. There reson for this is that Forms is not meant to be a database administration tool. We can handle expiration because we get this aletr from the OCI driver.

  • Using search tool on function or control pallette causes Labview to close

With either the control or function pallette, when I choose the search tool (magnifying glass icon), I get an hourglass for about 20 seconds, then any open Labview windows closes. Labview closes completely, I don't even get back to the startup dialog.
I know this has worked before. Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
    Using Labview 6.1 & WinXP Home SP1
    ~Tim

I have not heard of this happening before. Mine sometimes takes a few seconds to get up and running but not that long, and it never crashes. You might just want to reinstall LabVIEW. That should fix the problem and will probably be quicker in the long run than trying to hunt down the cause.
