VGA-cable to connect iPad2 and beamer

iPad2 with Keynote is a wonderful tool for presentations using a beamer.
Who can give advise which 15-pin VGA-VGA cable best to use to connect iPad2 and beamer over 10 to 20 meters?
Does the high performance cable SVGA-SVGA work:
- Max. res.: 1920 x 1080p
- SVGA 15-pin Male to Male
- 2x ferrietkern
- AWG 28
Thanks for your help.

As of now apple has stopped this. We can all give a feedback for this to apple so that after getting a huge amount of feedback about this they may rethink once to implement it back.

i bought a mini DVI to HDMI convertor and  a HDMI to VGA cable to connect my mac book pro to a tv but it doesn't work any one can help.

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. It had to change the screen resolution to work well, so I don't know if I would want to use it as my day to day monitor. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Can I use the mini displayport to vga adaptor with the xbox vga cable to connect my xbox 360 to my macbook pro?

I'm trying to find a way to connect my xbox 360 to my mackbook pro. I've searched the internet and found that I can use a eagle eye device but, its to expensive. So after looking at the xbox website, I found a vga adaptor for my xbox and an vga to mini displayport and I was wondering if this would work.

The minidisplay port is output only. It's not going to show anything from your xbox.

  • Does digital vga cable link from ipad2 to external  monitor  work with pages and numbers

Are you able toutilize pages and numbers on an external monitor with and ipad2 by utilizing a digital VGA cable

    Hi ederg:
You may want to download/update: Monitor file for Windows 7 (Thinkpad)
The reason I say that is because the readme it states, "If you use the preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows OS without the preload image."
Since you setup the Thinkpad with Windows 7 Pro CD and no longer have the preload image, this may fix the problem.
Also, have you checked the website for the displayport manufacturer? They may have updated drivers there that wouldn't have been on the update tool you used.
*Edit* You can also check the: External monitors issues section here. It goes over some basic troubleshooting you may want to try first (I just came across it now)
Let us know how it turns out!

  • How can I create my own network in my dorm? (Using Airport Extreme + ethernet cable) (To connect AppleTV and Sonos successfully with no restrictions)

So I recently set up my Apple Airport Extreme Router in my dorm and have a BIG problem. It works and lets me do most things on my own network, but when I try doing things on my external devices connected to the network (Apple TV and Sonos Hi-Fi Sound system) the connection just doesn't go through. I'll give two examples.
After setting up my Sonos system successfully, I was prompted to update the software so I can use options that need internet access such as pandora and soundcloud. It just didn't work at all. It gave me an error that had to do with internet connection. I tried numerous times.
On Apple TV, I used AirPlay on my phone to mirror what I was seeing on my phone and then tried to play youtube, soundcloud, and other music apps and none of them worked.
My guess is that it has something to do with my school's restrictions on streaming or downloading. But none of this stuff is actually restricted so I know it must be due to the transfer of information between my network (which is connected to the school's network I am assuming, since my ethernet port is in my dorm wall)  and my external devices.
Honestly I'll probably get the "Your school has these restrictions answer", but I know there is a way to fix this and I really want the answer!!
    Thanks,
    Andres

You don't need the AirPort Express to do this.
You can set your Mac to share it's wired connection over the wireless port and the iTouch can connect directly to the Mac.
You could also do it with the AirPort Express, but you don't need to - it's overkill for what you've described.

  • Connecting Mac to Plasma TV via VGA Cable

I just got a VGA cable to connect my MacBook Pro (2009) to my Plasma TV. When I did, my screen on my MacBook looked like it went into a ZOOM mode where everything was bigger than normal and did not fit on the screen. Is this normal or is there a way to fix that? I did adjust my TV to landscape mode to view my open application.
    Suggestions?

Open System Preferences/Displays and see what both screens now offer for resolution options, set them both to the best sizes for your intended use. You may have to click the Options Tab then 'Overscan' on the TV panel.

  • VGA cable question, and a problem

My PowerBook is connected to my 17" LCD via the cable that was included with the monitor. I bought a replacement VGA cable the other day. (I needed the original VGA cable to connect my Mac mini to the TV.) The original cable works perfectly with both the LCD and the TV. With the new cable there's visible ghosting appearing when connected to both the LCD and to the TV. What the ****? It's a brand new cable. It's a "Replacement/Switchbox Cable VGA/SVGA High Desnsity DB15 Male/Male" cable. Is that what I need? I noticed that the original cable has 15 pins and the new cable only has 14. Is that the problem? I didn't see any 15 pin cables at CompUSA.
Do I have a bad cable? To I need to return it in exchange for something else? What gives?

    Welcome to the discussions Michael,
It sounds like a poor quality cable - either an individual dud or just a bad brand. I wouldn't worry about the missing pin - VGA cables have three pins that aren't used for anything, so manufactures often leave one or more of them out.
Take it back and look for a good quality shielded cable. Ask the the staff if necessary. It may cost you more than you spent on the one you currently have. Try looking for a Belkin cable - they're usually a good brand (assuming your current cable isn't made by them...)

  • Where do i get the cable to connect Ipad to projector?

Where do I get the cable to connect Ipad2 to digital projector?

It depends on the kind of projector you refer to. If the projector has a VGA connection, you will need this  cable.
If the projector has a HDMI connection, you will need this one.
If you can choose, I would take the HDMI one, since it supports charging your device and playing at the same time. HDMI also carries sound, so you don't need an extra audio cable.
You will need an additional HDMI-male to HDMI-male or VGA-male to VGA-male cable to connect the apple cable (linked above) to your projector.

  • Mini DVI to VGA cable won't fit.  Too big for slot on 12 PowerBook G4

Are there more than one type of cable?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2369 shows only one kind of mini-DVI port for the 12" Powerbook.  Sounds like you got something that is not an mini-DVI port based cable.  Mini-VGA cables look very similar, and can be misidentified.  What are you connecting to from the Powerbook G4?  Make, model # is important.  Often DVI-HDMI adapters are better than DVI to VGA if there is an option.  Cause DVI-VGA you need a proper digital/analog converter in the cable in question.

  • Confused between getting an APPLE TV or VGA cables...

    Hey Folks.
Im not sure if I should get an APPLE TV or a VGA cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my LCD TV... what do you recommend. Im a heavy film buff, so I watch a lot of movies - with that said, APPLE TV seems like a good selection since I can purchase a movie without actually leaving my house to the store nor having a hard copy, all is stored on the APPLE TV (correct?)
question; how long does it take to download the movie? Or is it streemed?
Moreover all the films must be in iTunes correct? For example, I do a lot of shoots on my HD video camera and I love to mess around in Final Cut - now those films I would make I would need to transfer them into iTunes (what format?)
What else??? Basically Im just trying to see the benefits of having an APPLE TV.. let me know your honest thoughts.
    my best,
    -Joey

Without doubt a VGA cable will do the job with front row, although you won't be able to rent HD movies. It is however a matter of choice as to whether you can put up with the inconvenience of the cable.
You can purchase content from either the mac or the tv, but anything purchased on the tv will be transferred to the mac.
The time these purchases take to download will vary depending on size and the speed of your internet connection, anything over 6 Mbps should be able to let you start watching almost immediately.
Final Cut and imovie both have options to convert to an tv format, there isn't really any need to know more but essentially it's h264 up to 5 Mbps, you can go up to 540p with NTSC or 720p with PAL or 24 fps.
I think it will make a great addition to your home but then I have a number of them so I clearly like them.

  • VGA cable adapters

i have an HP pavilion dv6000 laptop and i recieved a VGA cable to connect it to my sylvania LCD tv (model number LC200SL8) but i noticed that the tv only has an outlet available for an s-video cable. Is there any way that i can find an adapter that connects to the VGA cable and then can plug into the s-video port? Or would it be easier to just buy an s-video cable? And will i be able to hear sound and not just images with the s-video? Thank you very much for your help.

You can find several sites by googling vga adapter to s video. Unfortunately i can't put links in here containing certain words for some BAZAAR reason
I don't deal with s video much but as far as I know, you cannot hear sound though the s video connection alone.

  • HT204382 Problems with VGA cable for MacAir

    Apple any help greatly appreciated.

  • I can connect my macbook pro to my tv with a VGA cable no problem. When I try to connect it to my tv with and HDMI it does not work, any solutions? It flickers once when first connect it, looking like it recognizes it, then it doesn't.

I am having trouble getting my macbook to connect to my tv. When I connect my mac to the tv via VGA I have no problem. It detects it right away. I just purchased a HDMI cable because I didn't want to have to use speakers when connect to my TV and it will not detect the computer. The HDMI is a good cable because it connects our apple tv to the tv, so I know it works.
When I connect the HDMI cable to the tv and my computer, the screen on my tv flickers once and it seems like it is connected. It then flickers one more time about 5 seconds after like it disconnects.
When I use my VGA it gives me an arrangement tab in the displays, I do not get that when I plug my HDMI in. I get nothing. Is there something else I could do?

Never mind, I solved it.  Didn't know the converter needed a power source to operate (duh!)  Now I have that, it works just fine.......
