I got the hp pavillion dv4 less than 2.5 years ago. I sent it to Hp for repairs but still same problem , heat up so bad i can even put it on my lap for a munite. Now is wont work and Hp want me to pay before they fix it .Hp know this product is inferior and just want to rip off customers. Now the mother board is gone too. This is just now a piece of Junk.I AM NEVER BUYING AN HP AGAIN AND WILL NOT ADVISE ANY ONE TO BUY IT TOO. DONT TAKE THE CHANCE THIS IS MY THIRD HP IN LAPTOP IN 3 YEARS, THEY ALL ENDED UP THE SAME WAY.

CPU initialization hang on bootup- works w/o VGA card!?

After moving my system across country I have encountered a problem. When I boot up my K7N2-L with 2200 and MSI GF4 4200, the system hangs on "processor initialization," as indicated by the D-bracket LED display. Removing *just the VGA card remedies this problem and the system moves to boot up properly.
What could be the cause of this problem? The only way I can see the VGA card affecting the CPU is by insufficient power or a short in the system. Would this be a mobo problem, a CPU problem, a PSU problem or a VGA problem? the system had worked fine months before I moved it.
Any help is appreciated.

I have reseated my processor- overheating is not the cause. It has worked fine before. I have cleared the CMOS, so BIOS settings are not the cause. It is not low PSU power either (unless something is wrong with my PSU). This system has been running fine for months until I moved it. Thanks for your suggestions though...

Ultra 60 with a Hercules VGA Card wont show me anything

Hi there,
i just have a Ultra 60 on my desk, and unfortunately I am not getting anything on my screen. Is there anything special I should look after to get the U60 with the Hercules PCI Card to work? The Model of the hercules VGA Card is: Terminator 3D/DX with a S3 Virge/DX <- if that is of any help.

The Hercules PCI card (and any other PC graphics board) won't work with a SPARC system. You have to use a card with OpenFirmware not a VGA BIOS. Please review the Sun System Handbook page of the Ultra 60 for supported cards.

I assume you got the Hercules card for free.The required Sun graphics boards are very inexpensive today (from second hand, e.g. eBay).
Even with a Sun graphics card (frame buffer) but without a Sun keyboard the output is directed to the serial console.

S3 trio 3D/2X VGA card configuration

Dear,
I have installed Solaris 8 for Intel on my PIII system. It has an S3 Trio 3D/2X 4MB VGA card installed in it. There is no such VGA card option given in the list while I run kdmconfig. My Monitor is Compaq V500, Which VGA I should choose from the list and which resolution level I should set inorder to get true graphics while solaris is running with Xserver. Right now, I am using standard VGA from the list. xserver runs but the graphics are very poor and dull.

Well unless it's in Sun's HAL compatibility list you are out of luck. Try applying Sun's latest Intel patches for it. Otherwise you may want to try www.xig.com and see if they have a video driver for you.

If you mean restore as in reloading an existing config from a disk image. If you have a bootable diskimage on an external drive of your xserve, and if you have another Mac you may be able to boot the xserve in targeted disk mode and just use disk utility on the second Mac to restore the image from the external drive to the internal drive of the xserve. Restore without erase works the best for this...sometimes you will get a copy error on the last file...not sure what the error really means...but it does not seem to be a real issue.

Driver for Creative graphics blaster 3D CLGD5464 pci vga card

Can anyone tell me from where to find the driver for Creative graphics blaster 3D CLGD 5464 pci vga card. The driver in Solaris8 is for CLGD 5465 which is not compatible with my card. The solaris detects my card as CLGD 5465 but it doesent work. Can anyone tell me what should I do about it?

If it is not supported by the Xserver under Solaris you may find you can get it to work by installing XFree86 (www.xfree86.org), there are compiled binaries for Solaris Intel that will make the transition easier (personally I found the 3.3.5 version works well). First check at www.xfree86.org if your videa-card IS supported under XFree though. There are some tweaks you need to add to get it all to work in the Solaris x86 FAQ. Since you probably have to do all of this in non-gui its not easy but can be done.

Require Sun AMD Server with VGA card = 16M - HELP

Right now, Sun has the AMD Servers: V40z, X4100, X4200.
These products are very good with high performance and quite cheap.
But I find out that the integrated VGA of all AMD Servers has only 8MB.
For my job, I need graphic card with at least 16MB.
Can I buy a VGA card with 16M/32M from Sun?

1280x1024 at 32bit color depth needs less than 8MB of video RAM.

Problem with VGA card

I just bought an MSI 865 Neo2FISR MOBO and a Asus 9600 XT VGA card.
As someone said to me on this forum, i install first the intel INF files (april 2003 version)from the MSI CD. The screen was OK (only try with XP not with Games).
Next I install the Asus drivers and reboot the system. Since I've done that, my screen is complety black and i only can have XP in a special mode ("sans echec") in french.
2 days ago i instal first the Asus drivers, Direct X 9 and next the Intel INF and the result was the same.
Can someone Help Me ?

MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card, Pinnacle 8.8.17 SE REBOOTS Windows XP when it renders.

The Problem is that once video is captured by the MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card, Pinnacle 8.8.17 SE crashes Windows XP when it renders.
I am using the latest MSI 44.03 drivers and the WDM drivers as shown in Windows XP system properties, hardware, are 2.0.3.0 09/04/2003.
The VGA card is set to CLONE mode and OVERLAY controls to FULL SCREEN DEVICE = SECONDARY DISPLAY, to get video output using thesupplied 9-SSCCR adaptor and
S-VHS cable to an analog VCR.
IF I DISABLE THE OVERLAY CONTROLS, RENDERING COMPLETES, XP DOES NOT REBOOT, BUT I CAN NO LONGER EXPORT TO THE VCR!!!!
I would appreciate any assistance or explanation.

Another issue I have relates to video captured by the MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card showing distortion or tearing in the bottom lines.
I am trying to capture, using an MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card, I am using the latest MSI 44.03 drivers and the WDM drivers as shown in Windows XP system properties, hardware, are 2.0.3.0 09/04/2003.
The capture system is PAL, I have selected PAL-I, my video sources are either an analogue VCR or an analog Camcorder. I use the analog VIDEO IN or the S-VHS IN of the supplied 9-SSCCR adaptor.
The software packages I have used are Pinnacle 8.8.17 SE, Intervideo WinProducer 2.0 or MSI Media Centre II deluxe (including patch).

Motion on G4-best VGA card ??

I use a MacBook Pro for editing native HDV and my Dual 867 G4 will get a processor upgrade soon to make it a Dual 1.25 running 10.4.9 and 2gigs of RAM. I know PCIe and PCIx are the new specifications for VGA cards, but what PCI card is still out there that works well with Motion ?

I'm thinking about getting one more VGA card to resolve my dual screen issue :

I've been trying to get smooth playback on the TV for days, but random stutter happens.
When a video (mostly HD contents) is played on the TV while using the PC monitor, things like minimize/maximize windows, page scrolls stutter and so does the video. Idle while watching videos also stutters randomly.
I tried almost every combinations of renderers/codecs/players, tried by desactivating aero and all the fancy graphics, but it didn't solve the problem.
The only way i get smooth playback on the TV, is by desactivating the PC monitor. (Using nVidia panel or "Win" key+P), so only the TV is active.
I tried with a Blu-Ray using DXVA and it was smooth.
I haven't got a chance to test with a better graphic card yet. This issue doesnt happen on XP though.

HELP !!! 2nd VGA card not working

I have the following board: MSI 865GM2-LS (MS-6743G) Ver0B
I have just put into the PCI slot an S3 Virge/DX 375 VGA card and it gives me a yellow exclimation in device manager ( Win XP)
Under "General" is the following message:
This device cannot start (Code 20)
Under "Resources" I get the following:
This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem (Well No )
I am using the standard on-board Intel VGA card.
Could you please help me it get this working as i want to run 2 screens.

Windows XP does support DUAL displays, but only with video cards with TWO outputs.
It's never been done before, as it's impossible. Unless you have a radeon 9xxx card and a ATI 9100 IGP chipset, which you don't have.

Installed New VGA Card and Lost Audio

(Please forgive my ignorance or stupidity when it comes to any computer knowledge. In 'Layman's Terms', I am what you would call an idiot when it comes to computers, sorry...)
I just installed MSI VGA Card 'MD512D3', 512MB, DDR3 onto my HP Pavillion a1710n desktop computer that is running Windows 7 and after the installation, the first thing that I noticed was the fact that all of my computer's audio had disappeared. I have been trying to trouble shoot the problem through various forums and I have tried pretty much every single solution that had been given to others with the same sort of problem. But then it occurred to me, why don't I uninstall the new VGA card and run the computer without it like I had been doing before. so I did the uninstallation and immediately, the audio drivers appeared in my Windows update and so now I have audio again on my computer. But my question is this, the audio that I was using prior(and here is one of the times that you will need to forgive my ignorance), I believe they were analog. The best way that I could describe them is that they had the connections to the computer that were color coordinated, i.e. "green" "pink" "blue", etc and I was primarily just using the "green" connection for basic stereo sound(nothing fancy). I just happened to look at the box for the new VGA card and it specifies that it has HDMI Output which, if I am not mistaken, is a digital output that requires a completely different connection. Can someone explain to me(in the most BASIC of terms), if this is, in fact, a digital output that requires a different set of speakers for audio or if I am able to use the 'analog' speakers that I currently have? Now, keep in mind that I would LOVE to just go out and purchase the most expensive and up to date audio products but I am limited by my income...thanks in advance for any information that you are able to provide me...Dan

The card supports Audio via HDMI. If you connect it via HDMI to a screen with speakers or speakers connected to the screen which is connected via HMDI the Nvidia HD audio is used. If Scrren has no speakers Nvidia HD audio can't be used. It should then use the soundcard or onboard sound of your board which the spreakers are connected to.

Installation with an Elsa GLoria II VGA-card

I use my system for professional purposes (mainly CAD) and just wanted to test the Solaris environment.
While installing Solaris (if setup is switching to X-mode) I get an blank screen and the installer asks for the type of my VGA-adapter which is not listet in the options.
What can I do, I am just an bloody unix-newby?

Yes, you can use this VGA card as this mobo supports both 4x and 8x AGP VGA Cards. Please make sure that your card is running in 4x mode when used.
