VGA or HDMI connections to Panasonic  (EDTV) in Windows XP of Bootamp

I have been trying to connect 13 MacBook to Panasonic (EDTV) which is compatible with:
VGA: 640x480 in 4:3 aspect ratio
852x480 in 16:9 ratio
HDMI: 1920x1080i
720x480p and 640x480
720(1440)x480i
When Windows XP is booted in Bootcamp, initially "Windows XP" logo of MicroSoft is on TV. However, it disappears when the screen comes up and shows "No Signal"
The resolution in Mac format is set at 640x480.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
Thanks.

Hello,
I wonder if the ThinkPad T61 downloaded any updates while it was on the wired network?  If so, perhaps one of them was a device driver update for the wireless network card.

I would suggest you visit an Apple dealer, preferably an Apple Store if there's one in your city, and ask for assistance in determining what you need. The questions and issues you bring up are rather complex to address in a technical support forum and would be better addressed in person where you and the salesperson can ask questions back and forth to arrive at the optimal setup.

The article you cited refers to The Mac Pro, a 50lb silver tower -- not a notebook computer.
    Everymac.com says:
    2nd Display Support:
    Dual/Mirroring*
    2nd Max. Resolution:
    2560x1600 (x2*)
    Details:
*This model supports a simultaneous maximum resolution up to 2560x1600 on two external displays via Thunderbolt. Alternately, it can support a single display up to 2560x1600 via Thunderbolt and a single display up to 1920x1200 via HDMI. Although it can theoretically power all three external displays, as confirmed by a helpful reader, it runs too hot with three displays connected.
Also see: How many external displays can the Retina Display MacBook Pro models support? What is the maximum supported resolution of each? Are adapters required?
When using other than ThunderBolt displays, the ThunderBolt port is directly compatible with Mini DisplayPort, and can be forced into compatibility (with Single-Link DVI or HDMI up to 1920 wide) with a simple adapter.
To adapt to wider displays, an ACTIVE Dual-Link adapter is needed, about US$100.

  • HDMI connection no longer works after Windows 8 download

    Hello,
I have a HP Touchsmart tm2t Notebook and was using an HDMI cord to connect to a television since I bought the computer in 2010. A few months back, I downloaded Windows 8 and ever since then, the HDMI connection to the TV no longer works. I've tried the troubleshooting steps that I could find and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • In my envy 13, the hdmi connection doesn't work with windows 8

everything works properly in the laptop, except the HDMI connection

I wrote this VI to investigate how to integrate a Joystick into my LabVIEW code (I called the VI "Joystick Sampler").  It has two parts -- the lower function, "Query Input Devices", makes an array of devices, their names and number of Axes, Buttons, and POV "hats", in an array called "Joystick Info".  Look at this first, paying attention to the Array Index that seems to correspond to your Joystick when you plug it into a USB port.
The upper code will sample (one of the) Joystick(s) at the rate of 10 Hz, allowing you to test buttons, axes, etc.  Note that the first "Initialize Joystick" function takes a parameter (default = 0) that corresponds to the Joystick Index you discovered by examining the Joystick Info array (see previous paragraph) -- if your Joystick, for example, seems to be at Index = 4, wire a "4" into the Initialize Joystick function.

  • Older laptop connecting to Panasonic Viera using VGA to HDMI

I have an older Pavilion Tx1000 that I would like to hook up to my new Panasonic Viera TV. I don't have an hdmi port on my laptop, but I do have a vga to hdmi cable. When I hook it up, the tv says no signal. The video card in my computer is an NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150. How do I get this to work?

Your computer must have an HD compatible video card in order to use an HDMI connector.
I would reccomend getting a VGA cable and use the VGA port on the TV instead.
You will find it still provides a very good picture.

i bought a mini DVI to HDMI convertor and  a HDMI to VGA cable to connect my mac book pro to a tv but it doesn't work any one can help.

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. It had to change the screen resolution to work well, so I don't know if I would want to use it as my day to day monitor. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404

I returned my multiple HDMI adapters after figuring out it had to be an Apple issue n not the adapters so I can't check it myself now.
    Thanks!

I have late 2012 MBP 13" and connect to my Panasonic Plasma correctly.
But using the same cable, can't connect to an LG 47LM6200, the MBP detects the TV, the screen blinks blue, but the TV shows "no sinal detected" message.

  • What is the best way to connect my new MBP to monitor - DVI, VGA or HDMI

What is the best way to connect my new MBP to a computer monitor?  DVI, VGA or HDMI?  Thanks

I recommend the Apple MiniDisplay Port to DVI adaptor.  I would avoid VGA.  MiniDisplay Port to HDMI will work as well (3rd party).

  • Yoga 13 HDMI connection to VGA or DVI cable

Hi, does anyone know what kind of cable can support connecting the Ideapad Yoga 13's HDMI port to an external monitor with either a VGA or DVI connection? Maybe provide a link to Amazon to a page with a cable that supports this? Does it need anything more than the cable itself like a converter or something? Thanks.
    Solved!

    hi ScoobyDoo,
    Welcome to Lenovo Forums!
That is going to be a Digital from the yoga to an analog VGA/DVI.
this kind of conversion does not require a transcoder. so you can go ahead with Cable Coverters only.
Here are some you might want to check:
StarTech 6ft HDMI to DVI-D Video Cable M/M
    HDMI to VGA Adapter
Black HDMI Input to VGA Adapter Converter For PC Laptop
You can check this out on how to switch the display.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/multiple-monitors#1TC=t1
Audio transfer will not work with this kind of conversion Normal HDMI out to HDMI in will transfer both Audio and Video to a TV.
    Hope this helps,
     Cheers!!

  • Connecting t400 to TV? (TV has no VGA, only HDMI)

    Hey guys,
I have a T400, with VGA outputs, and a new-ish LG TV bought about a year ago. I want to connect my T400 to the TV to watch docos, but unfortunately the TV has no VGA input, only hdmi. Does anyone know a device/cord/converter that I could buy on ebay that would let me connect them?
I only really need to connect the t400 for vision, I have an amp and speakers in the tv cabinet I can use for the sound.
I bought a VGA to HDMI cord a while back, but it didn't work, and after trying to connect them this way, I read that it's not quite that simple.
If anyone can help me with this issue I'd greatly appreciate it, I love watching docos and want to share some of them with my family too
    Thanks very much!
    Chris

With VGA pushing analog and HDMI pushing digital, indeed it is not that simple. Even if using the dock the DVI output does not have the correct digital connection output to allow for a DVI-to-HDMI plug\converter. Your best bet is to purchase an external converter this this, but I can't speak to its quality.

Only certain apps that had this feature added will show from an original iPad to a video out - whether VGA or HDMI. It does not have true mirroring, like the iPad2 does.

  • Best Connection VGA or HDMI???

Ok people...i have read all these stories about plugging in DVI to HDMI on LCD's but my question is which connection is the best?? I have a Vizio 32in LCD with both VGA and HDMI. I'm currently using the VGA setup and it automatically went to 1366 x 768 when i first hooked it up. Will i get better resolution off of the DVI to HDMI connection? I'm trying to find the best connection for my mini with the best picture quality. any suggestions is greatly appreciated...

The answer to your question depends a lot on the TV. In a perfect world, the digital HDMI interface would be the superior one. But in practice, a lot of TVs designate VGA as the port of choice for a computer connection and don't correctly handle computer input over the HDMI interface.
The two most typical problems with connecting over HDMI are that native resolution of the panel isn't realized and the other problem is that an overscanned condition is forced by the TV's processor causing the edges of the desktop to be off the screen and out of view, as though they are under the TV's bezel.
You'll just have to try. If HDMI also results in 1366 x 768 and no overscan, then go for it.
