VGA to Video adapter for a late 2004 iBOOK

I found a free TV and thought maybe i could use it as a larger screen format. so i went searching for cable adapters.
I did do a search here in the search query box on word search vga to video and results show related to clam shell versions.
while looking around the Apple web site for a VGA to Video adapter for a iBOOK G4 that shows a CPU speed of 1.2 GHz and a designation of PowerBook6, 5 yes that is how it is written in the System Profiler 'PowerBook6, 5'.
Using a tape measure the screen itself with out the plastic frame shows a width of 9.5 inches , including the plastic frame shows: 11 and one quarter, that could round off to 12 inch even though it is not at or beyond the point 5 mark.
The original paper work is some where ?.
I found a VGA adapter that could possibly work at
http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9109G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY#overview
yet the wording states: The video adapter cable plugs into the video output port (mini-VGA) built into the back of the computers listed in the compatibility section below.
Compatible with:
iBook without an external reset button, eMac, iMac G5, or 17-inch iMac (1GHz) with mini-VGA port.
does not say much for the laptop.
There is shown a VGA adapter for the iBook here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2721?viewlocale=en_US
yet finding it at the store ???
if i copy the part number in a search query at the store the results show a Lexmark copy machine.
I found many DVI adapters at:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY#overview
And then here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27124?viewlocale=en_US
as copied and pasted here:
The Apple Mini-DVI to S-Video/Composite Adapter does not work with PowerBook G4 (12-inch) computers,
the one thing i have notice is that no compatibility charts actually show support for the 1.2 GHz iBOOK G4.
I also see that there are Mini DVI to VGA adapters, Mini ?, does mention pin numbers ??.
I was wondering if i could crossover the DVI to VGA thru the adapters using VGA and DVI cables, yet pin numbers and compatibility questions still remain.
Suggestions ?
Thank you.

The adapter in the above link is the one you need.

  • Mini VGA to Video Adapter ???????

hi - the screen on my old emac is gone (just a vertical line in the center of the screen). i got a new emac (used). i want to transfer the files from the old one to the new one. i need to hook it up to another monitor in order to navigate the system to allow for file sharing. i want to use the "Mini VGA to Video Adapter" and use the composite video connection to hook up to a television set as this seems the cheapest and easiest route on this but many of the listings on the net say that an emac with airport extreme is required. i don't know if my old emac has airport extreme installed. i don't understand why i would need airport extreme if i only need the rca jack connection. does anybody know if this will work without airport extreme ? the old emac is a 700mhz / g4 / 40g / 1g ram - thanks, beaner

seems that i have found the answer to this myself. finally found the actual apple page for this (see link at end of message) and 2 of the reviews for the part say that this adapter will not work on my circa 2002 700mhz emac but works on later ones.

  • Wrong 'mini dvi to video' adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33

I recently bought the M9319 mini dvi - video adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33 to find that the mini dvi on the adapter is a different size to the one on the computer and the adapters supplied with the computer.
I've been doing a bit of research into this and it seems a bit of a grey area. Apple have not made it clear in advertising this product that it is only suitable for the newest 12" Powerbooks and even state that it will work with a 1.33 machine in their following article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86507
Has anyone had a similar experience, or suggest an alternative product that will work? Did Apple make an older version that works with the 1.33?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Graeme.

Just took the adapter to my local Apple store and they identified it as a mini VGA to video adapter - not what it said on the packaging!
I've noticed a few posts with this problem, so just double check before you leave the store that the packaging matches the product.

  • Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter for eMac ?

    Hi,
I use an Apple Mini DVI to VGA on my eMac to expand my monitor space, connect to an old Pinceton 15" lcd, both are on 1024 x 768 res in millions colors, and work fine.
My question is I have plan to buy an Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter since some of my project require a transfer process to an old vcr or Sony TRV-27 mini dv cam.
Would the adapter compatible for my eMac mini DVI port ? because eMac is not mentioned as apple compatible for this adapter at apple store, yet there is a review said it work great on ones eMac.
Anybody else using this adapter that would share with me ?
    Thank you.

look like it is indeed an apple mini vga adapter that I use, and now I need an adapter that allow me to connect to a TV, VCR or Mini-DV camcorder.
will that Apple Mini-DVI to Video adapter compatible to my eMac. Or do they have mini-vga to video adapter on aapple store.
    Thank you any information.

  • Apple dvi to video adapter for macpro working?

    hallo,
is it possible to use the adapter for the geforce 7300 in the macpro for pal video output? will it work? the apple store lists the adapter only for g5 and mini, but i see no reason, why it shoud not work with the gforce...
    any idea? thank you.
    thomas
    macpro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have wondered about that G5 support since others have had bad luck with Nvidia boards and the video adapter. e.g. it doesn't work with the 7800GT, which is a G5 board. All current ATI cards on their web-site show support for it but the MacPro card is not on ATI's site.
The adapter seems to have disappeared from the displays section of the Apple Store.
Another option is a VGA to video adapter
    <http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/PC-TVvideoadapter.html>
It costs more, but does a lot more, and should work with any video card.

  • Where can i buy an thunderbolt to video adapter for my macbook pro i7?, where can i buy an thunderbolt to video adapter for my macbook pro i7?

I recently upgraded my macbook pro 1,1 to a macbook pro i7 i had a dvi-i to video adapter to connect it to the tv.
the new macbook i7 uses thunderbolt to connect, i bought a dvi-d to thunderbolt connection to bridge with the old adapter but this now doesnt work.
is there a thunderbolt to video adapter? or can anyone suggest a proper way to connect the two?

The only Thunderbolt display I'm aware of is Apple's.  However, the Thunderbolt port on your MBP is also a mini-displayport and that is the normal way of connecting an external display to your MBP.  You therefore need a mini-displayport to whatever you need on the TV end, e.g. HDMI.  Apple have a good selection of cables on their online store.

  • Mini-DVI to Video Adapter: For TV Viewing?

The Apple-Salesperson sold me a Mini-DVI to Video Adapater to send pictures to the TV from my MacBook. I get sound on the TV but not the slids. The TV picture only displays the computer's main screen.
Is this the correct adapter? I see other threads here use something different. Is there a special setting I need to change?
    Thanks,

With your TV hooked up to your Macbook, you should be able to view anything on your computer. If you have all of your pictures in iPhoto, your best option is to use FrontRow by using the remote.
(make sure your displays are mirroring eachother, Preferences>Displays)

  • Snow Leopard and Apple DVI to Video Adapter for MacBook Pro

everything in PAL is black/white on my tv since i upgrade do Snow Leopard.
    is this a bug?

    Slightly different problem for me.
I'm running a MacBook Pro 3,1 DVI to Video out to an NEC Multisync FE1250. I typically connect the external, then plug in the USB for the keyboard, etc. which wakes it up in clamshell mode.
With Snow Leopard, this either brings up a small 800x600 display in the middle of the monitor (not even full screen), or comes up in the proper 1600x1200 but all of my windows have been scaled down to the smaller size.
    Very annoying.
    Here's hoping for 10.6.1...

  • Video drivers for intel video adapter for windows 8

any advice on when HP might release an Intel video chip driver for Windows 8

Right now, we are qualifiying drivers for recent notebook models. Shortly after the launch of Windows 8, you'll be able to find drivers for those models as well, on HP.com.
For more information, take a look at this page: http://hp.com/go/windows8
In the meantime, Windows 8 should automatically detect and install an appropriate driver for your Intel video processor. It's hard to say, since I do not know which Intel video processor model you have, or which HP notebook you have. But more often than not, it'll work automatically.
    I am an HP employee.

  • F Y I upgrade to 10.5.8 on a G 4 -- late 2004 iBook

The iBook G4 that i am using is listed below.
This puppy began at a OS of 10.3. ?, cannot remember the last number, could be 9.
before upgrade to 10.5 was at 10.4.11
Any way, after many weird ness`s i finally did a upgrade to 10.5 through the correct OS sequences.
At this time there is what appears green blotches across the window , not a lot of em, maybe 3 inches wide by 1 quarter tall, somewhere near the bottom right side at near the top, all setting horizontal.
something like when a person uses a paint, airbrush mode with spray pattern at medium in a graphics app. think Apple works 6.
I was in the assumption that Apple did no longer support 10.4, any OS below 10.5 was useless to Apple to support updates.
I often do software updates and there was 0 to be found even for any security.
among the weird ness`s , sometimes this machine will emit the rice crispy sounds, electronic sounds ?.
I sometimes go into Terminal and work with The Unix Programmer Environment, B K R.
I noticed that the ttys id was showing 002 and sometimes 001 in the same account.
while upgrading this puppy i first tried going strait into 10.5 in a upgrade CD.
I do, do insert current OS CD and run Disk Utility with maintenance and after updates.
With the 10.5 CD after the initial install , i went into update OS and when the message showed installing, i assumed the data was on the machine and unpluged the ethernet cord, and then the status bar just sat there. so then i just freaked out and every thing went down hill from there.
I went back and erased the whole song and dance and began over from 10.3.? and built each level with corresponding updates from the mother ship Apple.
    Re installed 10.5 CD.
While doing the first update in 10.5 from Apple Server, the status bar just sat there as before, at 1 eighth of the whole bar with message of installing, this time i allowed the ethernet cord to remain plugged in and just waited to see what would happen.
After considerable time the system went through a few windows and morphed into its current state of being. i did a insert CD and did a Disk Utility Permissions check and repair as a usual procedure.
I am using the admin account and the tty shows 00, the rice crispy sounds are not in tune with the crickets. maybe i could look at Activity Monitor and see if there is a corelation with ? and the electronic sounds, could be the CPU grunting up a hill ? .
At some time with the weirdness in the past i presumed it could be related to a hack job and this puppy had a disease.
If there was a question: what is your experience with updating a iBook G4 to OS 10.5 and is there any filters that would show clear diagnostics of Hardware Software issues that are free.
I am not much of a geek, but it would be interesting to pin down the color blotch`s and electronic sounds.
    thank you for your time.
    Model Name: iBook G4

L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB

    Boot ROM Version: 4.8.7f1
    Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-000D9361FEEA

i forgot to mention , that when i striped this machine back down to 10.3.7 and before i re built i did do a hardware check with the original install Disks [3] and every thing came back clean.
the weird ness with the colors on window, if i pass a app like text edit over the area , the color will not cover the app but stay in the background.
when i first saw this color thing i had the preference pane out and was moving it around on screen and the colors were bleeding off of the preference pane onto the screen.
if you have any idea as to what is going on here let me know.
    thank you
