Vhost configuration for Adobe Media Server running under linux.

Please help me with Vhost configuration for Adobe Media Server running under linux.
I was running a media sharing website for which I wanted to use Adobe Media Server.
To use, AMS, I disabled the already installed Apache server and installed AMS along with the built in Apache server. I could successfully install AMS and could login to AMS Admin Console through my IP number.
My existing website, www.mydomain.com is having its contents located at:
/home/mydomain/public_html
(Directory created under the old version of Apache not bundled with AMS)
Users will be uploading their videos, which will get transcoded and will be delivered to the website visitors in the existing scenario.
To use this website with AMS, this is what I did:
I created a folder for my domain, www.mydomain.com as below
/opt/adobe/ams/conf/_defaultRoot_/www.mydomain.com
Copied Application.xml and Vhost.xml from /opt/adobe/ams/conf/_defaultRoot_/   and pasted them in /opt/adobe/ams/conf/_defaultRoot_/www.mydomain.com
In the Application.xml file there are 2 entries:
<Alias name="mydomain.com"></Alias>
<AppsDir>${/home/mydomain/public_html}</AppsDir>
Please help me with further steps to be completed:
Do I need to create a separate VirtualHost entry in the Apache installed with AMS?
If yes, can I specify already existing document root for my website (/home/mydomain/public_html) or do I need to create a separate folder under webroot/Apache ?
If yes to point 2 above, then do I need to copy all the existing contents from /home/mydomain/public_html to the newly created folder ?
I hope, I can serve all my static contents like html pages and php and media like video/audio. In that case do I need create alias to my Media/Alias folder or AMS will automatically start streaming when a video/audio is requested ?
What other steps do i need to complete?
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Thanks and Regards

  • Buffer for Adobe Media Server?

    Hi
I am want to stream via a 4G USB modem. The internet connection has an upload from 1 to 5 Mbit, normally around 2-3. The Flash Media Live Encoder is streaming at 1.5 Mbit.
Is it possible to add some buffer so when the intenret connection goes under 1.5 Mbit in it's upload it will not have an impact for the WebTV viewers because of a large buffer?
Where to I add this buffer?
The Adobe Encoder does not seems to have a buffer - correct? (If not where do I control this?)
The Adobe Streaming Server version 3.5 (not the Interactive one) has a buffer which I can control in a config file - but which parameter do I change and to what value do I change it to?
My flash web player (JW Player) certainly also has a buffer which I control very well already.
Which buffer is best in this case? Or is it a combination of the different buffers?
    Thank you very much :-)

  • Advice on Hardware Encoders for Adobe Media Server

With a recently acquired AMS 5 Professional we have had good results encoding video to it using a Teradek Vidiu hardware box.
The only limitation encountered with this Vidiu device is that it does not provide multiple bit rates out of it. As a result we need to select the lowest common denominator that we are confident our viewers will be able to consume.
Is anyone using a similar form factor product for encoding that provides for multiple bit rates? I'm hoping to stay within $2000 to $3000 price range.
For portability reasons not interested in the Flash Media Encoder right now.
    Thanks.

Are you streaming from your own PC?!
For local tests, you can get your ip address by opening a command line and running ipconfig.
Assuming that your PC's firewall doesn't block the relevant ports, then others on your network could see it by replacing "localhost" with that ip.
For release... you may want to move your server.

  • How can I view the IP or DNS address for Adobe Media Server

Hello, I am trying to use AMS to conduct a live school news broadcast. Currently I can view the stream using `localhost,` but how can I figure out what IP or DNS address to use to make the stream public. While I can stream on the same network the viewers are on, I'd like to make it visible to anyone.

  • EC2 Amazon AMI for Adobe media server - not able to login

    manickam@manickam-Aspire-5738:~$
What is the user id used for login ? Looks like it is neither ec2-user nor root in this case.
Anybody helping, I would deeply appreciate. It is ridiculous to get billed when not able to use the software - not even able to login.

Use “amsadmin” user to login to AMS EC2 instance as root user has been disabled.
If you are logging in for the first time using SSH, use Putty to set the password for the amsadmin user as you will not be able to login using WinSCP.
Launch Putty to log into the instance.
In the Host Name (or IP address) box, enter the Public DNS of the instance you launched.
In the Category pane on the left, choose Connection>SSH>Auth.
Browse to locate the private key for authentication and click Open. See Using key pairs to connect to an instance securely, to understand how to use PuTTYgen application to convert the .pem file to a .ppk file.
    Log in as amsadmin user.
Enter a valid password and confirm the new password.
Note: For subsequent logins, you can either use Putty or WinSCP

  • Some Adobe Media Server questions

    Hello,
I need to setup Adobe Media server for my production environment and I have some questions.I need to have online media library (video on demand) available for end users as clips embedded in my site. My questions are:
    - What kind of source files are supported (source format, video/audio codec etc).
    - I also need dynamic video quality (user internet connection quality sholud be detected and video quality adjusted automatically). In addition, video should be transcoded and user should be able to choose video quality (and resolution) by hand. FlowPlayer is preffered player to be embedded to my site and it should be set up as client for adobe media server. What is the best way to implement this scenario? I can't find any step by step guide how to setup this (including dynamic quality adjustment). Any help
    - Live streams. The same as vod. I assume I will need Flash Media Encoder to encode stream from input source, so client will need to setup bitrate and other parameters? How to setup dynamic quality for clients - will server transcode stream again? How to setup this? I can't find any guide step by step, can you help me?

  • Where to download Adobe Media Server tools?

I need the track down the "Adobe F4V Post Processor".
The documentation page for "Adobe Media Server tools" (http://www.adobe.com/products/adobe-media-server-family/tool-downloads.html) links to a download page, but that page returns a 404 error.
Here is the 404 link where I should be able to download the tools: http://offers.adobe.com/en/na/leap/landings/fmstools.html

  • Possible to install and configure adobe media server with existing apache

    Hi All,
I am wondering if you know whether or not there would be an issue installing AMS Pro on a server that is already running a Moodle installation (2.4) with Apache 2.2?
If I opt to install AMS without installing apache, can I manually configure the exiting apache to enable iOS support, etc?
    Any information is most appreciated!
    Cheers,
    G

You better post this question in the correct forum: Adobe Media Server maybe the moderator can move it.

  • Adobe Media Server Installer does not run

I am trying to install Adobe Media Server 5 on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit on i3 logged in as an administarive user over RDP.
The installer simply does not run - a very short hourglass then nothing.  Not logs in applicaiton, system of setup logs.
The bundled Adobe Media Gateway installer runs just fine.
Tried a machine restart, and still no go...
    Any ideas gratefully received
    Simon

ok, got it...  go properties on the file and 'unblock'
This was because I downloaded it on another machine, and then copied it over.  Windows 2008 knew it had not been made locally and silently blocked execution.
