VI Analyzer User Plugins Directory

Hi Ppl,
I have been using VI Analyzer in labVIEW 2010. It has the option to created user plugins or Tests. I have created some plugings, but the constraint that I face is that, I have to place these plugins within the LabVIEW Data directory for the VI analyzer tool to load my plugins. My plugins are all located in a different location since I'm using a source code control and I cannot move the plugins from this location. Is there any way that I can tell VI Analyzer to load the user created plugins from the directory I tell. One round about approach is to change the LabVIEW Data directory in the LabVIEW options. But THere are lot other files that are created by LabVIEW in this directory. How do I go about this ?

Thanks for replying, from what you say I think, we still don't have the option to load user plugins from a user selected directory
I feel its not fair to ask the user to copy such plugins to a pre defined directory. I hope that there is some workaround for this LabVIEW 2010.

You can open Control Panel\System and Security, click
Event Viewer under Administrator Tools to check if some logs record recent errors.
Also you can start computer and typing F8, click Repair Your Computer to perform
System Restore.

How to change Analyzer user password with Administration API?

Hi, I would like to change Analyzer user password with Administration API. Can someone post some sample commands to do the task? I would just like to write an application to change end user's Analyzer password. As I see I would need to do the following: 1. login with admin userid/password 2. execute some method to change password for required userid. I think the input parameter should be userid (of the user I would like to change password) and new password (the new password for the user). 3. logout Can someone post some sample code (commands to execute)? I did substantial cleanup when we migrated from Analyzer 6 to Analyzer 7.1, and even more cleanup when moving up to 7.2, but our installation is smaller in scale than yours and we didn't need to automate report cleanup. You might be able to get the ownership information you need through the back door, doing a direct query on the database, but simpler might be an export users, at least from 7.0. (This facility probably doesn't exist in system 9; it was dropped in 7.2 in favor of an undocumented API) The export file is an xml file that could easily be parsed to identify reports that have the administrator as user and then a second pass to delete those with otuer ownership as well. As previously suggested, you might be able to get this by a well crafted SQL query against the repository. Procedurally, we have both public reports that have the blessing of management and are widely available, owned by a "public owner", and private reports developed by indivdual users and shared or not. Our team maintains the public reports, but not the private reports. We may be asked to make a previously private report public and take over maintenance of it. I hope that you can find a solution that meets your needs. Certainly a call to customer support to identify a poorly documented feature would be in order.

Is it possible to change the location of the user component directory in TS4.0

I would like to override the default location of the user component directory to a network drive / source control file system, in order to execute my own loginlogout sequence without having to deploy any files locally. is this doable in TS 4.0? If so how?

Unfortunately what you are trying to accomplish is not entirely possible.
You can move your user components directory to a network drive and then add a search directory and point it to that location. And then you can set that to a higher priority than the NI and User components folders so that location gets searched first.
However, the issue is some components need to be in a certain local location in either the NI or the User components folder and TestStand will not look in other locations for them. This includes the languages and the icons, and more importantly the FrontEnd and Station Callbacks. And the FrontEndCallbacks.seq file is the file that contains the login/logout steps and TestStand will not look in a different search directory for them.

Why can't a new folder be created within my user home directory when using 'Save As' in Mountain Lion?

Hi,
So I want to create a new folder within my main user home directory (not the root directory) just for my developer-related files? I can do this from Finder, although it does prompt me for my password to do so. However, when using 'Save As' from any app, the 'New Folder' button is greyed out when I select my user home directory. So I have to create the folder in Finder then Save As.
Is this normal behavior? Is OSX discouraging me from adding things to my user home directory by making it less convenient? Is there a good reason it would be discouraging me from creating new folders there? If not, is there a setting that I can change to allow the creation of new folders from the Save As prompt?

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

Can't find plugins directory when installing Native Instruments Komplete

Hi - I recently tried to install Native Instruments Komplete and the installation stops with a message saying that 'setup could not find your browser's plugins directory - click browse and locate the plugins directory - to install to this directory click install - you may install the plugin into a different directory but the plugin may not work properly with your browser. The default directory that it shows me (presumably the one it can't find?) C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash.
I went to Native Instruments with this problem, but they have told me to go to Adobe saying that, 'The error message you are receiving is related to the Flash Player and not to the NI installation - so please contact Adobe for assistance with this.'

I would have expected Flash Player to be installed with the Suite, but I don't think it will hurt to install it again (in fact, you'll get the most up to date version if you haven't upgraded recently.)
Flash Player on windows comes in two flavors. One is an ActiveX control for Internet Explorer, the other is a plugin for all other browsers. One thing to note, if you're on a 64 bit machine the directory for the Flash Player files will be different than a 32 bit install. Here's where you typically find them:
32 bit: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
64 bit: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

How to save file in users temp directory as "<Drive Name>:\Documents and Settings\<User Name\Local Settings\Temp".

Shouldn't the System property "user.home" reference to that directory on windows? So if you call System.getProperty("user.home");, I think it should return that path at least up to <User Name>. I never really tried it on Windows though.

Where did the user library directory disappear to? I opened my HDD and under username I don't see it anymore.
I was looking for ~/username/library/preferences location

You can access it by going to Go on menu bar, then click the option key and the library appears. Apple hides it under Lion.

Firefox can find plugins in various places. One of them is the plugins folder in the Firefox installation folder.

You have other plugins installed, so you can see the path of them on the about:plugins page if you first set the pref plugin.expose_full_path on the about:config page. 
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages). 
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

[User home directory property not found.]

Our Roaming Profile policy does not work but exits with the following error message in the log file:
RoamingProfile Policy] "...[POLICYHANDLERS.RoamingProfile.ErrorInEnforcement] .... [User home directory property not found.] ...."
We are running ZCM 10.3.1
We have the exact same environment at another customer where everything is just working fine. We compared the user properties and could not find any differences. eDirectory is fine, too
Does anybody have the same problems or a solution to it?

Yes, home directory is defined in eDir.
In Novell Client for Windows XP there is no "Allow Roaming User Profile Paths to non-Windows servers" attribute, it is in Client for Win 7 only.
In roaming policy, if I type the path to home directory manualy, it works fine.
In our original environment I have ZfD 4 on Netware, roaming profiles save to home directories normally, without errors.

User home directory at /var/imap is unavailable

We're running a single 10.5.7 server and recently migrated our mail to a new location from the default /var/imap and var/spool/imap. Since that time, I've been seeing the following log entries pop up when a user attempts to log in to the mail server. An example:
Feb 5 10:19:37 ServerName imapd: [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] username
[6608]: CFPreferences: user home directory at /var/imap is unavailable. User domains will be volatile.
We migrated the mail using a process nearly identical to the one found at:

I have checked the settings and paths in:
cyrus.conf
imapd.conf
(postfix) main.cf
(postfix) master.cf
All of the paths point to the correct new paths, which are:
/Volumes/Resources/Mail/imap
/Volumes/Resources/Mail/spool/imap
All users are able to access their accounts and use the mail server. What we're seeing is periodic periods of high latency (messages taking minutes to send) and occasionally odd problems with users' Sent folders (a sent message appearing twice with the same timestamp, even though the outgoing mail filter indicates it was only sent once). I'm making the assumption that these intermittent problems are related to the user home pointing to the wrong path.
I've looked through the forums and googled the phrase, but haven't found anything that would point me toward finding the setting in the mail services that remains incorrect.
We also intermittently receive the following mail-related message in the mailaccess.log:
Feb 5 10:36:07 Rivendell master[865]: can't open com file: /var/imap/.smd.imap.com (No such file or directory)
This appears to be a similar problem, but again, the location of the setting I need to change eludes me.

Here's the solution that finally fixed this problem and removed latency problems that seem to have been associated with it.
(1) Stopped mail services with terminal.
(2) Opened the Server Admin application.
(3) Under Mail/Settings/Advanced/Database I changed the path to the original location, /var/imap and /var/spool/imap.
(4) Clicked "Save."
(5) In the same spot, changed the paths back to the new location.
(6) Clicked "Save."
(7) Restarted the mail server.
I have no idea what hidden setting that's not in the conf files that this changed, but it removed the error messages and the latency.

Issue: When using BW Bex query analyzer users cannot change reporting queries. Any attempt to change queries results in errors.
Error: BEx Query Designer: Run-time error '-2147221499 (80040005) Fatal Error - Terminating
Impact: Business reporting is currently being negatively impacted because users cannot modify queries, cannot change filters for fiscal period and fiscal year.
OS / MS Office Suite being used: Vista & Office 2007
Backend System: BW 2.0B
Frontend System: Being a large organization, we have a controlled environment wherein all users will have the following applications installed by default:
1. SAP Client Base 7.10
2. SAP BW 3.5 Patch 4
3. SAP BI 7.10 Patch 900
4. SAP GUI 7.10 Patch 12
Does anyone has any idea as to why we are getting this error? Is it a Vista issue? Is it a front-end issue?

Just a thought - did you guys apply any Microsoft security patches before this started happening - we had a similar issue in other SAP application due to MS security update. Raise an OSS with SAP

But since IBM will not support Hyperion solutions in the near future (jan 2007) I will migrate to Hyperion.
