Vi Freezes upon Trying to Edit or Select

I am trying to edit a VI. Upon trying to delete or select a command with I/O Assistant 1 (the first write command) the computer freezes. Everytime I try to delete this command or commands below it the computer freezes. It seems to be a software bug. I have tried deleting the I/O Assistant and starting from scratch but I don't have enough skill yet in VI writing to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Freezing when trying to edit photo page

I am a longtime user of iWeb and have never had an issue. However today, in trying to update my web page, it began to freeze
I can edit every page except a photo page. The moment that I toggle to that page, it hangs up and I need to force quit.
I have already deleted the "plist" files and emptied the cache and rebooted. This did not affect the situation. In this situation, my ultimate goal is to delete the page, as I am a teacher and the new year is upon us.
Any advice for the deletion of that page would be greatly appreciated.

From the iWeb File menu select New Site: Shift - command - N
Choose a template and a blank page and then click the "Choose" button
A new site named "Site" is created along with a blank page.
In the left column of iWeb, drag the Photo page down to "Site".
Select "Site" and press your delete button.
"Site" is deleted along with the Photo page.
The original site is left intact minus the Photo page.

Crystal Reports freezing when trying to edit a formula

When creating a new report or modifying a current report, if I select a formula and click on Edit the applicatiojn freezes. Also, if I try to do anything with the database connection it also freezes. This just started happining yesterday out of the blue. Using Crystal Reports 2008.
Already tried to uninstall/nstall CR with no luck. Unable to do virtually anything with CR.

Just out of curiosity, might Crystal have been run by the same user with a very wide or dual head monitor setup (and you're on a smaller monitor)?
Crystal will display all dialogs where it was last displayed. If you run Crystal on a dual head system, drag a dialog to the far right, then run Crystal on a single head system and bring up the same dialog, it will look like Crystal has frozen (no response), but in actuality, it's waiting for input on the non-existent monitor! Generally, pressing the Escape key will close the dialog.
Crystal stores the location of dialogs in the System Registry. You can remove the entry for the given dialog and Crystal will revert to a "default" location. (Modify the registry at your own risk...) I don't recall the registry keys for these, but there are other posts (fairly old now) that has it. Searching the forum for "dual monitor" and similar, together with "system registry" should do it, I'd think...
There is a request in to have Crystal ensure dialogs are on the current desktop.

Acrobat Pro 9 freezes when trying to edit preferences

I have Acrobat Pro 9.3.4
When I try to Edit-> Preferences, the application locks up. It eventually goes to 'not responding" and I have to kill it using Task Manager.
I found this problem when I was troubleshooting a customer's issue where he could not Extract pages from a PDF document. The Extract window would come up, he would put in the pages he wanted and start the process. It would act like its going through the motions but nothing would happen and he would have to open task manager to stop the Acrobat process.
I was able to duplicate the problem with my Administrator account. I also found the same problem when I tried to go to Edit > Preferences. Acrobat went into a not responding state and I had to kill the process using Task Manager.
I have verified that the problem is not document specific: It happens on multiple documents. If I copy the document to another machine with Acrobat Pro 9, I have no problem Extracting pages.
I have uninstalled Acrobat Pro 9. That included removing c:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\acrobat* and c:\program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\* I rebooted the computer and then reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. Same problem for both my regular and my administrator accounts.
I have compared permissions and registry entries between this machine and one where its working but have not found any differences.
Any suggestions on what else to try would be greatly appreciated.

You would think. However, repairing Adobe, uninstalling (including deleting registry entries, c:\program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\* and c:\program files\Adobe\* , etc) did not resolve the issue.

IPhoto 8.1.2 (424) + OS 10.6.4 = crash upon trying to edit photo

I recently updated to 10.6.4. As soon as the update to the OS was finished each time I go into iPhoto and try and edit ANY photo, the app crashes and gives me a crash report.
I've tried trashing the prefs and I have also rebuilt my library - both did nothing to fix the issue.
Any other suggestions? I use this feature every day so this is killing me.

Did you repair disk permissions after applying the updater? Also did you use the Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update (Combo)? If not I suggest to download it (click on link) and apply it.
Other tests you can run:
1 - create a new text library, import some photos and see if you can edit there. If not then go to 2.
2 - log into another user account on your Mac, open iPhoto and see if you can edit there.
If you can't edit in the other user account a reinstall of iPhoto is warranted. To do so you'll have to first delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder, reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and reapply the latest updaters.

Captivate 7 freezing when trying to edit spelling preferences?

It's really as simple as the title says. My version of Captivate 7 freezes everytime I open spelling options?
I'm using the Mac version.
Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing some files, or something?

Hi nic_murdock, Can you check whether you have "Linguistics" folder created under "/Library/Application Support/Adobe"? if not, can you do the following steps
Close Captivate if it is open.
Step 1
Open finder
Open the Go menu and select “Go to Folder”
Type in /Library/Application Support/Adobe and click on Go button
Create a new folder and call it Linguistics
Inside the Linguistics folder, create another folder and call it 6.0
Leave this open. We will come back to it
Step 2
Open new finder window (File->New Finder Window)
Open the Go menu and select “Go to Folder”
Type in /Applications/Adobe Captivate 7/required/Plug-Ins/mac/Linguistics and click on Go button
Select the 2 folders LanguageNames2 and Providers and copy them
Go back to the other finder window which we opened earlier in Step 1 and paste it inside the folder 6.0
Launch Captivate and check the spelling preferences.

ITunes 11.1 freezing when trying to edit preferences

After updating to 11.1, so I could update my iPhone to iOS 7, iTunes now freezes every time i try to edit preferences. As soon as I click Edit -> Preferences iTunes freezes. I must Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the program. I am using a Windows 7, Dell computer. Everything else seems to work prefectly until I click Preferences.
Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone solved this problem? Any ideas howlong it takes Apple to solve these kinds of problems?

Even though no one replied, i fixed my problem.
Don't know if it will work for anyone else with similar problem
but all I did was a CHKDSK then a defragment of my laptop and now everything seems to be working fine.

Freezing when trying to edit

If I open adobe and simply leave it on, its fine, look at menu, options, etc...
If I open one of my projects, it takes about a full ten seconds to load, which is fairly high actually. Then, if I try to edit the timeline or click on any of the imported files, the program freezes up, eternally. It worked fine just 4 hours ago, and I didn't do anything to my computer since then.

I have never done this so do not know from personal experience, but I have read in these forums that Adobe software does NOT like to be installed on anything other than the boot (usually C:) drive... click the link above

Computer freezes upon trying to activate screen saver?

I recently went on vacation and downloaded some pictures to use as my screen saver. But everytime I go into Prefrences to choose a picture to be used as my screen saver, my computer freezes on me. Does anybody know how I can resolve this problem?

A drive that's too full can cause all sorts of problems, but I doubt that freeing up space will, in itself, resolve it. Let's hope I'm wrong! We'll soon see, once you free up some space on your startup volume. If this is the only abberration you're experiencing with the operating system, I'd go ahead and resolve your drive space issue first, keeping this issue open for some suggestions from the Members.
BTW - The reason I previously asked if you can launch System Preferences and change the Screensaver to one of the standard ones (without crashing) is to eliminate the files in that particular pictures folder - as well as the slideshow routine that drives the screensaver - as the cause of the problem.

I have a MacBook Pro, it recently started freezing upon startup. It would get to a blue screen and just sit there. I've tried booting in safemode to run disk repair and still doesnt help. If I do manage to get past the blue screen, it still freezes

My mac keeps freezing upon startup. It will get to the blue screen and promptly freeze. If I manage to get past the blue screen, and open up youtube on google chrome, it will freeze before it loads youtube. I've tried safeboot and disk repair, nothing seems to work. I even tried to factory reset it but it wont connect to my internet when I reboot with power + option.. any ideas?

This can be used to boot the machine and delelte enough files to get it to boot normally.

I think I figured out how to fix it-
I found that if I only delete a small amount at the beginning and at the end of the section that I want to remove - and then highlight that section - Then (and only then) does the "Delete and Move" function work to remove the unwanted section and automatically close the gap between the surrounding sections. I was trying to select a whole section and could only delete it - and then manually move it.
Problem solved.

Trying to edit contacts freezes program

I installed PSE8 a few weeks ago and was having a problem sending emails. I've since changed my internet provider and have a new email address and email provider, gmail (not by choice). I went back to PSE8 and tried to edit my contacts but every time I hit the icon the whole program freezes. Going into the edit has the same effect. I was using PSE2 but finally upgraded. PSE2 did not have a dedicated email program but relied on Adobe Photoshop Album 2 which came in the package. Therefore, I did not import any contacts from other programs. I've read NUMEROUS complaints on this forum regarding the freeze problem but really saw no solutions. How can you delete the contacts if the program freezes? I tried a search for "contacts.XML" but came up empty. Besides, I'm not sure I really understand that procedure. Can anybody provide a reasonably simple way to rectify this? Had Adobe addressed the issue at all? It would seem they should provide some help.

This problem is usually caused by the presence of a version of Contacts.xml from a previous version (which later versions can't handle) or by a corrupted Contacts.xml (PSE frequently corrupts its own files). So search your entire C drive for all instances of Contacts.xml and delete them. Make sure you've configured Windows Explorer to show hidden files:

Given that you had PSA, there is most likely a Contacts.xml for it laying around somewhere as well as the Contacts.xml for PSE 8.

This problem (or problems) has been around since at least PSE 6. Adobe is putting almost no effort into fixing bugs in PSE. There is a tech note for PSE 6 about the issue:
