[VIA] MSI 6382 v1 mainboard, & Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4400 AGP

I'm having a problem with this setup. I was using a GeForce 3 Ti200 on this board, but I just upgraded my main PC to a GF 6600GT from a GF4 Ti4400, and wanted to pass the GF4 to the MS 6382 v1 PC. I went ahead, and removed the drivers from the system using Driver Cleaner PE first, then I removed the GF3, and installed the GF4. I can't get any video now. The system boots up fine into WinXP without any error beeps, but I never get any thing to showup on the monitor. Not even the mainboards bootup display.
The sytstem works fine with the GF3 card. The PSU is enough as I was using it on my main (more power hungry) PC when I was still using the GF4 with it. Does anyone know if there is a compatability problem between the MSi 6382 v1 mainboard, and the Nvidia GF4 Ti GPU?

Wow ! As you said. More than enough power.  Only thing that you don't say youv'e done is to run PC  with GF 3 and set all AGP selections in Bios at default, or clear CMOS,  to see if GF 4 can run.
Well. I tried setting the default BIOS settings, and booting the PC with only the GF4 Ti4400, and it still won't work. At best I only get garbled lines, if I get a display at all. However. I must admit that the MS 6382 v1 board is capable of running a videocard more powerful than a GF3.
Today, my GF 6600GT in my FIC board just stopped displaying. In the middle of web surfing, my system froze, and the display went black. On reboot, all I got was a "no video" beep signal. I tried reseating the card, the VGA cable, and the power donggle on the back of the card, and still no signal. I popped out the GF 6600GT, and inserted the GF4 Ti4400. It worked fine, so I decided to see if the 6600GT would boot in the MS 6382 v1 board. I removed the GF3, and installed the 6600GT, and the thing booted fine. Didn't try booting into WinXP though. I only booted to a DOS floppy, but it seems that the MS 6382 v1 doesn't like the GF4 Ti, or at least the PNY version of it. Anyway, I reinstalled the 6600GT back into the FIC board, and it seems to be working fine now. Have no idea why it quit like that, but I hope it doesn't happen again.
I'm not gona sweat the GF4 Ti4400 not working in my MS 6382 v1 board as I'm gona upgrade to an Athlon64 AGP system later this year. I'll run the 6600GT in it, and run the GF4 Ti4400 in the FIC board as a second system. I'll pass the MS 6382 v1 with the GF3 onto my brother.

  • MSI GT70-2OC with NVIDIA Geforce GTX 770m: performance issues

I've setup some games on my gaming laptop and I'm seeing lower frame rates with various games (30-50), and there is a "line" in the 3D graphics (I'm assuming that has something to do with the refresh rate). Any idea as to what might be causing this issue? Any ideas on how I can boost the performance of my GTX 770m?
    thanks,

To me it sounds like a hardware issue (especially if you have rolled back to factory default and reinstalled from scratch)
It wouldn't be a hardware issue since you can play other games without problem.
Easiest way to tell if it's a hardware issue or not is to run the benchmark tool for example 3DMark 11 and see if the problem also happens during the benchmark.
For the rendering problem you were talking, please provide not only the problem picture but also the picture without problem to let us make the comparison.

  • How to install drivers for nvidia geforce 6800gt for AGP

I might be completely blind, but I have no idea as to how to install the necessary drivers I need for my new (used) graphics card. My card is not displaying properly (doing all this in safe mode) and I'm pretty sure I need the drivers. Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

So sorry for wasting anybody's time. Steve, you're right, the drivers were already there. I missed a very, very small detail on the card and the instructions. There were 2 minuscule pieces of tape that needed to be pulled off from the card (I guess they were left on in case the buyer had a g4. But with a g5, and 8x agp, those two little pieces of tape needed to be pulled off. After I pulled them off and re-installed the card, everything started up immediately and display works! Sorry again, but thanks for the quick response.

  • MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI driver problem

Hi.. I really need your help guys..
First of all, I have Windows XP Pro.
Okay, I have this MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI card, and wanted to change drivers.
I had 50.xx, and wanted to change back to 40.xx, because it works better with Counter-Strike.
So, I went into Device Manager and went into the video card properties -> driver.
I pressed the 'Uninstall driver', because you need to uninstall the newer driver if you want to install an older driver.
Then my computer restarted, and when it was booting, a blue screen or something came up, with text about my computer was deleting and scanning some files(?).
I don't know what it was uninstalling excatly, but when I got into Windows I had to use a 'VGA driver' or something..
I tried to install the 40.xx driver, double clicked the Setup.exe but when it was begining to install this error came up: 'An error occured while launching the setup. (0x80040702)'.
I don't know what it means, but I can't install any drivers for nVidia?!
I tried the Device manager, and I can't update the 'VGA' ..
It's like my computer isn't recognizing the card or something.. I've tried 'Add new hardware' and everything.
    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance.
    P.S. My PC specs:
    Intel Pentium4 2.0GHz
    Some IBM mainboard
    512DDR
    GeForce 4200 TI
    Windows XP Pro

Generally for nVidia drivers for the VGA, is what I explained above by going to Add Remove programs in control panel and look for the entry for nVidia display drivers.
Since you are asking me this, I fear you may not be at the experience level required to do this as it can be somewhat of a nightmare if all the drivers are not removed completely. This is what you just experienced.
Look at the top of this forum and you will se an Important thread called driver cleaner, by Bonz and then the one above it by me. Go to the DriverHeaven Website and download the DC utility but make sure you read EVERYTHING and understand it before you proceed. If you are confused or not comfortable, then I suggest finding someone that is experienced enough to do it for you.
    It should be pretty straightforward.
    Good luck

  • Problem with MSI Nvidia GeForce 6800 LE (128MB) when playing 3D games

    Games problem
I have bought a new MSI Nvidia GeForce 6800 LE (128MB) a couple of months ago and have been have loads of trouble when playing games.
In windows, the graphics card works fine. The computer never crashes and everything is speedy. Movies on DVD, Xvid, Divx all play fine without problem, the most I get is the occasional freezing and then windows will be normal again.
The problem arises when I try to play a 3D game. When I load up the game it goes into the menu screens ok, the computer will load up the 3D engine and it will play for around a minute nice and crisp then the screen will go blank and computer will lock up. Then all the drives will go quiet and the computer will make 3 beeps with the PC speaker. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL at this point does nothing, nor does the reset button. I have to turn the power on and off.
I really have no clue why this is happening, I have taken the covers off and kept it in a cool area, hoping that it was something to do with over heating, my computer is not overly cluttered and this has made no difference.
I have also unplugged the CDR, DVDR, USB ports, one Hard drive (storage) to see if it was something to do with the power no getting to the Videocard and then tried to play a game and the same problem arose.
I have two games that I have tried, Tiger woods 2005 and doom III, both of which crash in the same manner.
I have tried to be as detailed as I can with the descritopn of my computer below and the power details I'm not sure about so I posted a picture of the power unit to help.
Many thanks for your help in this matter, I'm desperately trying to get some worth out of this card and feel frustrated that its going bonkers only when trying to play games :/
Please tell me if you require further information about the system.

Firstly, thank you for all your prompt responses, I really appreciate it. From the sounds of it, the PSU is ****
    antec
From what I have read, the Antec PSUs have good reliability and ratings. I looked around and saw this one: Antec NEOPower 480W ATX PSU for around £65. I also went read that article posted by Dr Stu, which then stumbled on more articles about PSUs.
    I have a couple more questions….
The rating of my system (http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/Power_Supply_Calculator.php) with all the components running came out to be 422W.  So do you think that the Antec NEOPower 480W ATX PSU would be sufficient for the computer considering I might add more RAM in the future?
Or should I buy the 500W+ one then?
Does anyone know if the Antec PSUs are quiet? My current q-Tec one makes me feel I'm in an aeroplane.
    lucky I read the forum!
I was in Maplins (computer shop) at lunch and thought, that shiny 650W Q-Tec looks nice and there looks like loads of power, that much do the trick. i got to the counter and thought.....let me wait, till i get home from work and read some more on the forum about this PSU issue.
Thanks god I didn’t buy that S***. having read some of the reviews, i would have wasted loooots of money for nothing.

  • MSi GE70 Apache Pro w/ nVidia GeForce GTX 860M Graphics Issues

    Hi there,
I recently purchased an MSi gaming notebook with nVidia GTX 860M graphics. However, just recently I've been having game-breaking issues with textures rendering, artifacts and particles as well as the drivers crashing now and again(desktop flashing and flickering).
I've only had this laptop for just over two months and am quite disappointed with issues coming up already.
To get to the specifics; I have recently been playing through the Mass Effect trilogy and, just the other day, started up a file in Skyrim. The following screenshots show my biggest issues aside from the obviously serious driver crashing issues. I believe the issues started maybe a month into owning this laptop and since it has been getting progressively worse. I feel as though I have been all over the internet trying to find a fix to this, I've tried everything suggested, everything that I could think of, and I am just about ready to have it sent back. I was hoping someone may have some other options before I do send it in.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/d8koa8f8i1z9j3d/Photo%202014-09-30%2C%201%2040%2044%20AM.jpg?dl=0
On the title screen for Mass Effect 3 I get these consistent blue and red glowing orbs, they also occur on several other maps within gameplay.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/a9c47w320u5xylb/Photo%202014-09-30%2C%201%2043%2016%20AM.jpg?dl=0
Once I get in-game, this occurs everywhere. Textures "expanding" off of characters into random points.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/v37un4vespalosx/Photo%202014-09-30%2C%201%2045%2036%20AM.jpg?dl=0
This happens occassionally on characters; ridiculously shadowed faces to the point where they are barely recognisable.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/8cebgs4t10ghnh0/Photo%202014-09-30%2C%201%2046%2020%20AM.jpg?dl=0
On almost all wall textures there are white glowing particles like the ones behind the character here. In extreme cases, the wall becomes a texture of textures. All of the textures in the game are miniaturized into a wall of textures on certain objects.
I've also had signs and the game's menus and interface stretched and skewed all over the place. If I continue to play it with the above issues, the game eventually hangs and I have to alt+tab out and back in, or close it using the task manager. All of these issues also occur in Skyrim and any game using the same, or similar, engines. The only game I have been able to play almost seamlessly without any issues is Ragnarok Online 2, an online MMORPG.
    I have tried the following:
nVidia's GeForce Control Panel: any and all combination of options.
    Re-installing video drivers.
    Re-installing DirectX and PhysX.
Formatting and a fresh install of Windows and all games and drivers.
Any other troubleshooting other forums have provided.
Removing the pagefile for virtual memory limits.
Using Intel HD graphics to test for other issues.
    PC/nVidia power settings.
The one time I thought it may be fixed, all it took was me plugging in my laptop to cause the issues all over again. I've tried downloading MSi Afterburner to check GPU temperatures and I rarely even go over 65~70. I'm absolutely out of ideas. It was suggested to me by a family member that it may be a hardware issue, hence the consideration for sending it in.
    I'm running Windows 7 64-bit
    nVidia GeForce GTX 860M
    Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
    12GB of RAM
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. I would really rather not have to send it back. I've also posted this over at the nVidia forums because I'm -hoping- it's a software issue.
    Thanks in advance!

  • MSI drivers to nVidia GeForce 7 series?

Hi, I'm an old costumer of MSI graphics cards, and always enjoyed the D.O.T. functionality. Today I have a MSI nVidia GeForce 7 based graphic card, the NX 7800GTX-VT2D256E.
I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate with the latest nVidia driver, but I'd like to know if I may expect a MSI driver that implement the D.O.T. to my card, once I don't feel comfortable with Coolbits and softwares alike.

    Hi
The best answer that I can give you is 'I do not know' since this is a user to user forum and nobody here is an employee of MSI so we do not know what MSI has planned.
    Have you considered ATI Tool?

  • MSI CX61 20D-011, does the NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M have 128 bit or 64 bit bandwit

hello, i am planning on getting a new laptop and im very picky as to what i buy.
the MSI CX61 20D-011 pretty much ticks almost all my boxes for it performance to price ratio.
now i need to know what vertion of NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M graphics it has.
"The NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M is a DirectX 11 graphics card of the middle class. It is based on the Kepler architecture and manufactured by TSMC in a 28-nanometer process. In addition to an older version with the GK107 chip (384 shader, 810 - 895 MHz, 128 bit memory), there also exist models with the new GK208 (384 shader, up to 980 MHz plus boost, 64 bit memory). Both versions usually use DDR3 memory; however, GDDR5 versions are possible, too."
this has been quoted from the notebookcheck as external links are not allowed apparently
as you can see the 740M has 2 different chips a 128 bit one and a 64 bit one.
for me it would be desirable to have the wider bandwidth of the 128 bit one.
    can someone please confirm, thanks.

    This goes to MSI:
This is total disrespect to customers to offer 64bit, GDDR3 type GPU in nowadays laptop. This is very bad behavior, even though they never claimed CX as a gaming machine. WHat they do should be on 2009 laptop. Not on 2013 year.
    Thank you for a screenshot.
    1. Stop bashing MSI: >>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<
    2. It's quite normal to use that kind of GDDR3 with entry level gpus and it is meant by Nvidia to be used that way. Using GDDR5 instead is optional and not quite attractive for notebooks of the CX61 price range which aren't meant for gaming.

    A-diddy, welcome to the forum.
If this is the video card that you want to buy, I don't believe that it will work with the existing 300W PSU.  It has an additional power connector which means that it requires more that the 75W provided by the PCIe slot to operate properly.  The specs say that it only consumes 45W.  I don't know why they have an additional power connector.  Your existing PSU does not have the required cable for the connector.
I suggest calling the manufacturer's Customer Service to verify the requirements are correct.

The pinout in the manual says     P5  Right channel audio signal to front panel, P6 Right channel audio signal return from front panel.....and so on for the left side. Also is P2 Ground used by analog audio circuits. My question is, is P5 the (+) side of the channel and P6 the (-) side of the channel? Or is P5 the Line Out and P6 the Line In and P2 a common ground for all the audio? Any help is really appreciated

    Hi,
The front panel audio socket has a "send" and "return" line for the left and right channels. The green socket on the front panel has special switching connections inside it. Normally, the send and return lines of each channel are connected together. The signal returns to the mobo, and is connected to the rear audio out socket. If you plug something into the front socket, the switches open and disconnect the return signal, effectively cutting off the rear output signal.  If the front panel socket isn't connected at all, a pair of jumpers have to be fitted between pins 5-6 and 9-10 to connect the signals to the rear socket.
When experimenting, avoid connecting to pins 3 & 4, as these might have some voltage on them.
    Cheers

  • Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT question

Is anyone running Vista 32 bit using Bootcamp on their SR MBP with the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT?
I ran a vista compatibility scan on the MBP and it said that the card would not work in Vista.
I am curious whether this is true or whether others with the same hardware are able to do it ok.
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Luis,
Yes, I am running Vista via Boot Camp on my Early 2008 MBP (SR with 8600 GT). The drivers were included on my restore DVD. You shouldn't have a problem. Good luck!
