Vibe 3.3 and Java 7 Update 51

We have been running Vibe 3.3 for quite some time now and havent had really issues with it. But since the latest Java Update things went wrong. Before that update, if we opened a file out of Vibe (via "Edit this file") to edit, a Java warning (like this one http://www.java.com/en/download/help...variations.xml) was shown but if you accepted it, everything worked. After the latest JRE update to version 7 Update 51 we still get that Java warning but after accepting it, nothing happens.
After some research I found updated java applets for Vibe and installed them as mentioned here: http://download.novell.com/Download?...d=IjdLuwODIJM~
As you can guess, it didnt fix the problem.
So any idea and help is highly appreciated

Thanks for the hints, you got me in the right direction. In fact it seems as if the Java certificate Vibe uses is incomplete and since Java 7U51 it is blocked. If the Vibe Office Addin is used you dont even notice that there is a problem as the addin issnt using Java, but if you use a browser to work with your files you get hit by that Java problem.
After I did some research I found a blog with a description how to distribute Java Security Configuration via GPO which pointed me an (compared with that GPO thing) easy solution. I setup my Java Config on one client using the possibility with Java 7U51 to specify exception sites and entered my Vibe adress to teh exception list. Made a copy of the exception.sites file which is located within the user Profile (%USERPROFILE%\APPDATA\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deploymen t\security\exception.sites) (The file only exists if you alter the configuration with the Java Control panel), placed it on a share and deploy it using ZCM to every client.
Works fine for clients within the institute, everyone who wants access from outside needs to alter his configuration manually. It would be great to see an update from Novell adressing this issue, as the main issue seems to be an incomplete Novell Security Certificate.

I just updated to Yosemite and when I install Java 8 Update 25 it will not verify on either Safari or Chrome. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it from a USB but nothing seems to work. Even after I quit and reopen my browser. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Java 7 update 13....good or no good?

I've read that Oracle has introduced Java 7 update 13. This version has 50 security issues that have been addressed. My question is; Should I download this latest version and then enable it in Safari preferences?

I installed it a few days back when I was forced to by Safari. Today I was accessing a JPL NASA website for Near Earth Obects and Java 7 update 13 has continually crashed Safari. So, I would give an emphatic NO.

  • TMS and JAVA problem

I have TMS version 14.5 and Java 8 (update 25)
All of a sudden , when i go to TMS->Conference control Center,
i enter my credentials and then get Error Click for detail
I have tried this in Internet Explorer, Firefox , Chrome->same behaviour
I have added my TMS server to the Security Exception Site List in Java.
I also have installed Java 32 bit and 64bit version .
Any idea how i could resolve this?

    No worries Patrick.
Further to my response to the Original Poster - I'd also strongly suggest you empty out your browser and also your Java cache - having an older file in the cache often contributes to these sorts of issues.
Another possible solution could be trying both http and https and seeing if there is a difference.  Also see if you can bypass any proxy or web caching server as these can also interfere.
For what it's worth - I also have two PCs here  with pretty much idential builds (Win8.1 64-bit, Java 8u25 32 and 64 bit installed) - one works fine when using https, and the other I have to use http to get it to work.  And different behaviour/errors on both when it doesn't work.  We can pretty much rule out the TMS server as being the issue as it works both ways on different machines, but on these specific two PCs , there are some unknown differences that are causing issues - we're still investigating these ones, but the majority of our other PCs work fine with no errors reported.  So, if you're having problems on one PC, try another - or try from a RDP session on the TMS server itself to determine where your issue actually is.

  • I continually get a Java error. I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and nothing has helped. I've updated flash and Java.

I have used Firefox as my default browser for many years. I've recently started getting a Java error message. It pops up continually. I have updated flash and java. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and nothing has helped. I have had to start using Chrome instead of Firefox which I don't care for but I don't have the java error with Chrome. How do I fix this problem? The error reads as follows:
    Java Script Application
    Error: syntax error

Your '''JavaScript''' error has nothing to do with the Java plugin . It is likely caused by an added extension (the earlier forum threads [/questions/944619] and [/questions/943088] mention disabling or updating the Social Fixer extension will resolve the problem).

Apple Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10
Apple Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 17
    Apple Java 2013-005
I would suggest you upgrade your computer's OS minimally to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • After update June 28 of security and Java on 17in mac bk pro laptop cannot startup

After June 28 security and Java updates my 17 in mac book pro will not start up properly..I get a screen with text on the side and a window telling me to press the sart button to shut down and then press again to start up...( a gray panel comes down over the page before the window appears)...I have tried the install disc and done the disc and permissions repair...permissions repair could not repair "System/Library/Core Services/Remote Management ARDAgent/Contents/Mac OS/ARDAgent" a SUID file. Try to get into your machine and if you do, the first thing you do is backup your files to a external drive. (not TimeMachine) via regular drag and drop methods.
Disconnect this drive. and all others.
You can then c boot off the installer disk for your OS version and under the Utilities menu is Disk Utility > Repair Disk
Also you can totally reinstall OS X, shouldn't effect your programs or files (but backup all files just in case)
If that don't work, c boot off the installer disk again, this time use Disk Utility to Erase >format HFS+ Journaled with Security option > Zero All Data (will take some time) This will totally wipe the drive of everything and is a last ditch effort.
When it's done quit, and reinstlal OS X.
You'll have to go through the setup and reinstall your programs and files from backup. Secret is use the same user name and drive name as the previous time so your iTunes folder will work without a hitch.
If you restore from TimeMachine, it's possible whatever problem you had can return, but you can try and if it doesn't work, just repeat above without TimeMachine.
Later look at free Carbon Copy Clone your boot drive to a external HFS+ Journaled formatted drive and keep in a safe place, it hold option bootable, great if your hard drive bites it, or TimeMachine gets hosed. TM isn't bootable.

  • Java platform and Java Deployment should be updated but there is no other version, always the warning to update but thats not possible

Java Platform 7u9 and Java Deployment Kit plug-ins are yellow and asked to be updated.
The problem is that there is no other version than I have already installed.
Even if I try to instal this latest version again I've get the message that I already have the latest version.
The same problem was with Flashplayer where I installed the latest version but three days Firefox asked to update the plugin.
The last one is now ok but Java Platform and Java Deployment Kit is hopeless.
Why it ask for an update if there is none?
What should or can I do? I always be careful and patch my pc if necesserry.
All my friends who are working with Firefox have the same problem.
Can anybody tell me whats going on here?

    Hi
There is still an issue for me. When i check to see if add-ons are up to date it identifies "Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U9" as out-of-date and gives me an orange "Update" action. When i hit this it takes me to the Java website giving me "Recommended Version 7 Update 9". This is the one i've already got so i cannot get rid of the orange Update action buttons.
Furthermore, if i try the link earlier in this thread to test to see which version of Java i should be using it says "Congratulations! You have the recommended Java installed (Version 7 Update 9)" so i'm not sure what this talk of version 7.10 is about?

  • What's the difference between Java SE 6 Update 10 RC and JDK 6 Update 7

I want to download jdk and do some java development. But I saw "Java SE 6 Update 10 RC" and "JDK 6 Update 7" are both there for me to download. I don't know which one should I download. I used to think JDK is Java SE. Can someone explain it to me? Great thanks!

[Java 6 Update 10|http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javase/java6u10/] provides some nice enhancements for deploying Java to the Desktop, a nice new look and feel and some other nice additions.
Also, JDK 6 Update 7 is the latest, officially released version at the moment. The Update 10 is only a release candidate (that means it is what might become the final Update 10, but can still change).
For normal development (and especially when you're just starting to learn) there shouldn't be too much difference, so choose whichever you want.

  • Why are Java and Video Player updates appearing in Safari

Today these fake Java and Video Player update pop ups started appearing in Safari 6.2.4, in OS 10.8.5.  The Java updates say I need  version 13 which doesn't exist and the video player pop ups are gray with a red square that resemble the Adobe colors.  These are popping up on almost every page I load in Safari.
I've looked in the Launch Daemons folder and that other Launch folder that keeps being recommended in the post that says I don't need to download anything and there is nothing out of the ordinary there.  How do I stop these pop ups?
    Tracy

The update alerts are indeed fake, and are intended to dupe you into installing malware or disclosing private information so that your identity can be stolen.
You might get the alerts when visiting a website that has been hacked. Don't visit the site again. If applicable, notify the site administrator of the problem, but don't send email to an unknown party.
If you get the alerts when visiting more than one well-known website, such as Google, YouTube, or Facebook, then they may be the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to those sites are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker. It's possible, but less likely, that the DNS server used by your ISP has been attacked.
    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. If the fake update alerts stop, see below. Otherwise, ask for instructions.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
After resetting the router, quit the web browser and relaunch it while holding down the shift key. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Do the equivalent if you use another browser. Open the Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Then go through the router's initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
    1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option. Most do.
    2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits. Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed. Save the password in your keychain. Any password that you can remember is weak.
    3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set a different strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.
Check the router manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
If you downloaded and installed what you thought was a software update, ask for instructions.
