Vibe Z2 Pro (K920) - SIM Management Issues

1. Provider name (which is set under SIM Management) frequently disappears from Dialer area. As such Card 1 and Card 2 SIM providers may not be known while making a call.
2. While making a voice call over Bluetooth through voice call guide, the process does not end up dialing the phone number. This is because after the last voice prompt, the SIM selection menu opens up, which has not not handled buy voice guidance. This is probably because Google Voice does not support DUAL SIM capability. This must essentially be handled by Lenovo themselves.

  • Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (K920) battery charging time

    Hello everyone,
I wonder, if anyone could help me, please.
I'm experiencing an interesting issue related to battery charging procedure of brand-new Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (K920).
The thing is, the first two battery charging procedures took about let say 2 hours 40 minutes both.
But the third battery charging procedure took about 3 hours and 10 minutes exactly!, which I consider to be rather strange, mostly because of web reviews of this smartphone, where 2 hours and 30 minutes typical charging time is described.
I understand the fact that brand-new battery has to be initially "formatted" and it's capacity is therefore gradually increasing after few battery charging attempts.
Needles to say, after that third battery charging procedure, the battery life has been also significantly improved. I use genuine Lenovo charger which comes with the phone in the box. The only thing, which I changed since first two battery charging procedures, was turning ON "Core efficiency" in the Lenovo Battery Manager.
Could it be the reason of such extended battery charging time or is it perfectly normal bacause of gradually improving capacity for brand-new battery? Could it be defective battery? Has anyone of the owners the same experience or what is yours typical battery charging time using in-box charger?
Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestion, explanation.
    Martin

  • Vibe Z2 Pro (K920) stock ROM improvements and bug fixes

Phone info: Lenovo K920, Android 4.4.2, K920_ROW_S133_141010 I've already posted this message, but, probably, to the wrong forum section. Hello to all I hope that if it is the official Lenovo forum, the respectable developers already read it from time to time & some thoughts about Vibe Z2 Pro stock software improvements and bug fixes will be useful for them. Interface1) "Double tap to wake" feature is, probably, the most requested one.2) There is very long response period between the long pressing "Menu" button and the showing of the earlier executed applications list. Even then Settings > Accessebility > [Touch & hold delay] is set to "Shot". I'd better to cut this delay twice.3) "Clear all" function in the the earlier executed applications list sometimes seems doesn't work properly: I press the button, clearance process indicator is rotating, but the list isn't empty.4) The system font is lengthened by vertical axis & it looks worse then the corresponding font on nexus devices. Lockscreen1) Lockscreen crashes when Poweramp with the default settings is playing a song (Poweramp > Settings > Lock Screen > Enable Android Lock Screen = true). Probably, this is a Poweramp bug, not K920 ROM (The Rocket Player with the same functionality works well), but who knows...2) There will be a good idea to realize option "Disable change lockscreen picture by swype" somewhere in Settings, because such an involuntary change take place regularly. Stock Camera app1) As far as I know, Samsung Galaxy S5 has an HDR option for recording a video. It would be cool to implement this feature (moreover, if I'm not mistaken, K920 has the same camera hardware).2) In professional mode I can drag "Photo camera" icon left and this will result in appearance the five curves of settings (like a Solar system) - just as in Nokia Camera for Nokia Lumia phones. Bute there are two shortages in this (generally very good) idea.2a) In Nokia Camera the "Photo camera" icon is moving left just under the finger while being dragged, while in K920 Camera app "Photo camera" icon is moving only after dragging is finished & the finger is moved away from the screen. Such a behaviour looks a little bit unnatural.2b) In Nokia Camera I can show the single curve for the tuning of a single parameter by pressing a corresponding button on the center of the top side of the screen. The K920 Camera app doesn't have such an ability at all (or I failed to find it). This video illustrates the problem.3) It would be very good to add the next options: disable shutter sound, change photo resolution (5M, 8M, 16M) and aspect ratio (16:9, 4:3).4) The Zoom function in video recording mode works like simple pixelization, not zoom. Neither Lumia 1520, nor HTC One X (my other phones) doesn't zoom in video mode like K920. The two videos - about Lumia 1520 zoom & K920 zoom illustrate the problem. This is the more so strange, that in photo mode K920 zoom is apparently better than the Lumia 1520 one. Sound1) It would be great to realize step-by-step volume increasing for incoming calls. Thank you.

    Hi monocats,
Yes, I have expirienced quite the same camera issues as you, but only 5 or 6 times of more than 200 photos, so made little for this issue.

I'm a newbie in photography, but noticed, that slightest chage in camera position result in disappearing such artefacts as on the photos above. So it can be result of a light sources mutual position and some camera hardware aspects.

  • Vibe Z2 Pro (K920) Board test failed

hiafter the lollipop update, there were occasional freezes and reboots but nothing major. few days back, the phone was connected to my pc and it rebooted but this time it froze on the boot screen. it stayed like that for hours..could not reset or switch on, even recovery menu was not working. i let the battery drain completely and charged it to 100% but on startup it hung again. being away from india at the moment i took it to the local service center but they were unable to help saying they did not have the correct software.i spent 2 nights searching the net for solutions and finally found a way to reload the firmware (ROW S126 updated to S230) and got the phone to start. however, i could not switch on wifi or bluetooth. 3G was available but i did not test call or data functions. i went into recovery menu and performed a board test and got multiple failures, WLAN+BT+Gsensor+Msensor+Gyrosensor.i will be away from india for a few months more and would really like to find a solution for this. is it definately the hardware or is it some software issue/missing device drivers etc?? any help or references are appreciated

Hello, I just purchased my Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. After charging it for 8 hours, I switched on the phone and there's an automatic firmware upadate to Lollipop. After the update, the phone is unable to restart. I cannot even access the factory reset/recovery mode. I sent it to the service centre and now they said they need to replace the board. What does it mean? Thank you.

  • Final Cut Pro X File Management Issues

    I have several issues
    1. Does anyone know if it is possible to import from camera to the standard Mac file system?  I can't see a way to avoid importing media in the FCP library and I definitely DON"T want any of my media files in the FCP library.
    2. Also I know I can copy the media files out of FCP back into the file system but I am not sure how to delete the FCP copy and re-point everything to the media I have stored in a proper file structure on a specific media disk.
    3. It doesn't seem to be possible to have FCP default new libraries to a media drive - it only wants to create them on the boot drive and the library has to be moved manually.  Am I missing something?
    4. Backup is an issue now - it looks like a change to any component within a library will trigger a backup of the whole library - it certainly does with the backup software I am using, and who knows what Time Machine does with FCP libraries... (but Time Machine DOES appear to delete files without notice when it runs out of space, so it is not suitable for any environment where permanent data retention is an issue - so beware...)
ps: don't EVER use the "move to library" function.  If it crashes you won't get a reason, you can't undo or recover, and the originals may be deleted even though the media never made it to the other library.  This is not good...

Hi Tom:  It was "Move Event to Library" that crashed, deleting the media from the originating library but not copying it to the new library.
I lot of my issues are down to lack of familiarity with the new interface after migrating from the old Final Cut; manuals which are incomplete or in error; courseware created in earlier versions of Pro X and which have not been updated, and what I regard as counter-intuituive defaults and assumptions by the Apple development team.  I spend a lot of time searching for answers:  For instance I spent at least an hour searching in the manual and on the net for a way to extract or move the media from an FCP library.  I came up with nothing.  It would never have occurred to me to search for the term "consolidate".
Another thing that caused me an issue was that I copied a library from one drive to the other to create a backup before I started trying to regularise the media locations in the original library.  I changed the name of the backed up library in file manager.  When I open it, FCP still uses the old name - hence a library which is opened on one disk and appears to point to data on another.  In fact I hadn't noticed that there were two libraries of the same name open at the same time in FCP - the apparently duplicated library was in fact the backup library on the other disk which was renamed in file manager but not in FCP.
In iTunes and Aperture, which both use this bundled library approach, you can only open one library at a time.  FCP is different - and I have no problem with this, but any user familiar with the other products would assume, as I did, that FCP worked the same way.  That it does not gives rise to the possibility of confusion.
FCP is a very complex piece of software.  That means it is impossible to make it easy for a first timer to understand - an experienced Final Cut user has to unlearn as much as he or she has to learn - and all this places much greater reliance on the manuals.  The writers of the manuals need to try and put themselves in the heads of their users and make sure that their TOC, Index and terminology corresponds to the thinking of the user - not the new terms they have created for the new version (e.g.: "consolidate media" - which means extract media from the library and move it into the file system, but who would know?)
In an environment where the file sizes are enormous; a library may contain several hundred clips and audio tracks organised in various events and projects; FCP can crash and "disappear" media; the manual is hard to search and the software behaves in an unexpected manner (library names in FCP do not necessarily correspond to the actual name of the library on disk and multiple copies of a library can all be open at the same time, with the same name) this all creates a great deal of stress.  One mistake and a great deal of work can be lost irretrievably.
However, with your advice, I have consolidated the media files from my largest library and confirmed that the library holds only the metadata now.  However, the new file organisation is unusable, so I will now need to change the file names and reorganise them into subfolders that make sense to me - I guess I will find out if this breaks FCP's links.  At the same time I have to figure out which files in the original file structure correspond to the newly extracted files so that I only have a single set.
My big mistake was to copy the files into the library in the first place.  This is the default, and also recommended on the Lynda courseware (which was created on an earlier version of FCP).  Since most of my existing files were imported in the old version of FCP prior to the upgrade (so already on disk), this meant creating duplicates of all files initially. However, all the newer files are only in the libraries and not in the file system - reconciling this now is tricky.   Since I retrieve SD cards on my notebook in the field and then copy to my Mac Pro, some of the new files have ended up in the file system and not in the library.  I am yet to find out whether FCP will automatically pick up new files added directly to the file system, or whether they have to be "imported" through FCP before FCP can see them.
The overhead of all this duplication is enormous and the inconsistencies tricky, and it is only now that I understand better how FCP Pro X works (and that it can lose stuff) that I now realise I have to undo all of this and move the media back into file manager and out of the libraries.
If you have to transition to a new, and radically different, version in the middle of a project you really need to understand all the implications.  I did not.  And now that I do, it is difficult, stressful and time consuming to sort out.
If I were able to go back and give myself some advice it would be to ignore the defaults, create logical and sensible file structures for all your media, keep all media out of the libraries and use the file structure to force FCP to organise your clips in a logical manner so that you don't then have to go through and laboriously assign keywords to organise them in FCP.
I don't know if the way I work is very different to other film-makers.  This is a doco - typically around 5% of what is shot will make it into the final program, and I double that because I use three cameras a lot of the time.  That's about 40 hours of HD plus WAV audio files.  Some of the clips are an hour in length and impossible to synch between the cameras until they are chopped up and new combined clips created - this is very laborious!  An hour of HDD is about 400GB (more if I shoot raw) - so there will be about 2TB of data associated with this doco by the time I finish shooting.  In an interview I record a separate audio track - and I generally use this as the master track since it is the only clip which can be guaranteed to run for the full duration.  But FCP Pro X assumes that the master track will be a video file and it is not possible to add an audio file to the timeline first.  I found a workaround - but, again, I am fighting FCP and the developer's preconceived ideas about how people might use this software.
Apart from the doco itself various other projects use the same media - but I don't want these projects cluttering up the doco library which is already cluttered enough.  If the media is in the library I have to copy clips to other libraries for these other projects, leading to more duplication.  Its another reason to move the media out of the library and another indication that FCP was not really designed for large projects.
Even just within a single library, file management is unsuited to the volume of files I use.  For reasons known only to themselves, the FCP developers have used a very specific view of the file organisation - and its not the view I use in file manager (which is the column view).  That makes using the file management in FCP very cumbersome - but its essential if you have a large number of clips.  My smallest library takes 30 minutes to copy from one Thunderbolt2 disk to another, so creating a backup before changing things in a library is not a trivial event.
Also, the keyword process is clumsy and, I think, poorly conceived but it is the only way to organise clips if you haven't created a file structure prior to import.  I haven't yet figured out how to erase the keywords I used for one event so that I can reassign the keywords for use in another event.  But I assume that means that if I go back to the first event, I will have to put all the keywords back in - or ignore the shortcut keys and type them manually (which is necessary for much of the time anyway because there are only 9 - a good indication of the size of the projects for which this software was designed).  Also, oddly, there is no shortcut key that I can find for turning on/off the keyword window - which is annoying because it takes up a lot of screen real estate).  It is issues like this that leave the impression that FCP has been conceived as a kind of iMovie + and that it just isn't architected for real-world proper film making.  It can be bent to that, and it has some nice features, but I find myself fighting it a lot of the time.
After all of this I can't find a reason why Apple would create library "files" anyway.  What advantage does this provide over the standard file system?  What are the implications for backups?  (If you are backing up incrementally only the components within a library then how can you be sure any version of the actual library file is current?  And if not, then is any minor change to any file in the library going to trigger a full backup of everything - (in this case 1TB+)?  And how does this differ between various backup options?  Again, assuming FCP users are mostly making home movies, with small file sizes and using Time Machine then a library concept might make sense.  But that is iMovie thinking.  And that Apple have implemented a "move to library" function without any transactional integrity (no deletions should be made until the successful copy is confirmed) further underpins the non-professional positioning of this product.
I hope it improves with age...
But thanks again for your help - it was timely and very much appreciated.

  • Auto Reboot and blue screen on Lenovo vibe z2 pro (k920)

Hi!I created a theme en Russian forum, but the problem is not solved. Repair and replacement of the motherboard authorized service center does not solve the problem. The phone automatically restarts randomly about once a day. Some people frequently. Sometimes before restarting the blue LED lights up and a blue screen. Please help us.Lenovo Vibe Z2 PROK920_ROW_S141_150109

Hello Lenovo team, I have the same issue. Took the phone to the authorized service center in Jayanagar, Bangalore, India. They replaced the display and told me that the issues was resolved. The reason for blue screen and restart was mentioned as overheating due to excessive use of 3G connectivity. I was suggested by the authroized service staff to minimize my 3G connectivity usage. In the process of replacing the display, i am left with no company provided screen guard either. I come back home and the very next day the issue appears again. It restarts with blue screen every 2 minutes. The same way as before. Now the WiFi is permanently disabled as well. Cannot activate the soft button itself from the drop down menu.I am very disappointed. I paid a good price to buy the phone expecting good performance, durability and reliability. I had definitely not expected the phone to have such major functional issues within the first 6 months of purchase. I am only hoping that Lenovo understands the seriousness of the issue and provides me a replacement for the phone. I do have some videos of the issue, if it helps you in resolving the issue.

  • Vibe Z2 Pro K920 bugs

Hello, i've been using my k920 for a few days now and i have found some bugs:
    - auto rotate disables on its own after reboot
    - im using a local sim on sim 1 and a roaming sim in sim2, when i reboot before sim2 register on the network the phone shows the name of the sim when a selecting the sim action is needed but after sim 2 registers then no sim name is shown

Agree with the post above. Tapping to release RAM in recent apps is not fluid and sometimes unresponsive. I hope the next OTA update fixes this.

  • Vibe z2 pro k920 camera problems: lens flare

    hi all
i have some serious problems when shooting photos at an bright day
in nearly half of the situatuion an annoying lens flare is present
i have to cover my phone either on the side or the top to get around it
do you experience something simillar or is my phone defective?
thanks a lot for any input!

I asked your question in a russian mobile forum (at the topic, devoted to K920) & got the next answer:
This isn't a sort of rainbow effect or lens flare, it's internal reflections on the lens optics produced when bright light source comes to it's (lens, not sensor) field of vision. This light source could be invisible in photos because it exposes, for example, only some lenses (first, second one, not all of them). Such situation takes place with the expensive lenses of the reflex cameras. In lenstip.com reviews for each tested lens the steadyness of that lens to such "sun spots" always stated. Primary compensation method - blend:
For the phones and compact cameras where blends attachment isn't provided, one has to cover lens with the palm.

  • Vibe Z2 Pro K920 WIFI problems

Hello, for some time i have a very annoying problem with wifi on this phone, if i am connected to a wifi router (any router) in DHCP mode and i leave the premises without turning wifi off, after a while when i return to that place the phone does not want to connect to the router, it stays with obtaining ip, if i turn Airplane mode on and off then it connects to the network. Its not related to a specific router or network, the problem is with any network. If the phone is configured to have a static ip address on the specific network then everything is fine. I have done the following: deleted the network and reconnected, changed the router security protocol, changed the password, factory reset the phone. Anyone has any ideea about how to fix this problem ? Thanks

When the phone is turned off and i plug the charger for the first couple of minutes it shows the green battery and the charging animation but the screen stays on and, the animation stop the charge percentage does not change but the phone keeps charging.
The touchscreen is much more responsive than Kitkat and i think is too sensitive.

Other problems noted - random restarts, forced closing of some programs, including stock apps (play store, contacts, messaging ...). I use a single SIM but sometimes, the phone search a signal for a second SIM but as I said already, I don't have inserted another SIM in the phone and seems to be possessed ... ) I made a factory data reset but did not help ... these bugs were not present in KitKat, only in Lollipop.

Interesting thread Let me be the first ''contribuitor''.
For example on the lockscreen if you press&hold the ''HOME'' button the flashlight will turn on.This feature is available on most Lenovo VibeUI 2.0 phones.
Also if you go to Settings->Feature you can find other interesting features/settings like ''Micro Screen''(useful on a 6 inch device),''Disable home button''(that's very useful if you're a gamer),''Poket mode'',''Smart Dialer''(also useful on a 6 inch device)....

  • Vibe Z2 Pro K920 slowmotion help

Hello, can somebody tell me why is it doing this thing when i record slowmo 120 fps hd video?
    What is it doing:
When I record regular HD resolution video its not 120fps but only 30 (29.97), but then when I record slowmo HD resolution it is probably recording too with 30 fps only and then slowmo video looks bad, can someone confirm this? Thanks

    Hi linqiuying,
It's due to my bad english, I meant totally different thing originally.
I meant to realize the next:
    1) Lets assume that maximum incoming call melody volume is equal to 10, minimum - to 1, your current volume setting is 7
    2) When your phone starts playing incoming call melody, it plays the melody with the most quiet volume (=1)
    3) After every next second (or every next dial tone) the volume of the incoming call melody is automatically increasing by one point (or step)
    4) Then the volume achieves your volume setting (=7) its further increasing is stopped.
So, when your are near the phone, you can hear incoming call at low volume, when far - it takes some seconds to increase the volume automatically to the level which could be remarkable for you.
This is very convenient feature, because phone's unexpected and very loud signal irritates other people and it is unnecessary if you are near the phone at the moment.
