Vibrate instead of ding on plug in?

This is trivial but driving uscrazy!  I just bought 3 new iPhone 5s.  All identical all running the same software.  We also have 2 others bought 2 months ago.  When you plug in to charge your phone, it makes a "ding" like when you get mail.
BUT inexplicably one of the new phones does not do this, but instead vibrates.  It is beyond annoying to the person whose phone this is.  She wants to hear the "ding" - she is my boss.
I have compared all the sound settings and ring settings and I see NOTHING any different on these.  They all seem to be set the same.  It is not on airplane mode, etc.
Does anyone have any idea why one phone does this while the others do not?  or how to set it to ding when plugged in and not vibrate?  there's no choice of "charging" under Sound choices.
Thanks!

Check the mute switch. That's normal behavior if the phone is on mute.

  • Vibrating instead of ringing

    good evening everybody
i have a problem with my iphone 4s........
it is vibrate instead of ring when i have incoming call , message ,alarm
also music and video files have no sound
how i can fix this problem ????................help me plz
    thancks in advance

Check the mute switch on the side of the phone to make sure it is not set to mute.
Check the sounds in Settings to make sure sounds are turned on.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • IPhone 5 vibrated for no reason while plugged to charger

I have a small problem (?) with my 1 week old iPhone 5. I have noticed yesterday that when phone was plugged to the charger
it vibrated once with no reason. Vibration was the same kind like when you switch the phone to the silent mode. The phone was on a table and when
it vibrated, it did not turn screen on or show other notifications of any received or updated data. I have also checked all possible apps for any updates but no new messages in Whatsapp, facebook or any other app.
I have seen some topics where problem was that email was on automatic update and phone vibrated upon arrival of new mail but my automatic update of email has been turned off since the day 1 and in my case this is not the problem.
Phone was not on silent mode or connected to any other device by bluetooth or airplay.
When I connected it to the charger, it came up with normal connection sound. I left it on the desk charging and this vibration appeared suddenly after the phone was connected for some time 30-60mins and completely untouched.
Do you have any advice what else this might be?

it could be a software problem but it could as easy be a hardware defect
a restart would likely be 1 of 2 things
1 a software error that the ios operating system can't handle and it makes it restart to try and fix it rather then deleting everything in it's storage which in many ways would be a much worse way of trying to deal with an error
    2. a hardware defect which result in 1 as the software try to do something which fail huge! because the hardware is broken not as much because the software is

  • Text message vibrate instead of alert sound

i am in a text message conversation screen (as opposed to the main message screen that lists my messages), and my phone ringer is on with vibrate activated. however when i receive a text message within the conversation, it only vibrates with no sound alert. is this normal?

Even just going back to the list of converstatoins (button in top left) you will not get alert sound while in the App.  Again, it assumes you are looking at it and seeing the indicators pop up for number of messages etc for each conversation.
You have to be out of the app for it to give a sound.
If you are not expecting a msg right away then why stay in it?  Press home and go back to home screen and wait.

  • Iphone vibrates instead of chirps when docked

iPhone has always chirped when docked or connected to computer. Now it vibrates twice. Can't find any reason in "Settings".

    Thanks for solving my problem.
I know it seems stupid, but I never knew what that switch was for.

  • Can i turn off the vibration when i plug my phone in

Does anyone know how I can turn off the sound and/or vibration that occurs when I plug my charger into my phone?

    Hello,
There is no possibilities to do that, even if you remove the vibration in silent mode on the iPhone's settings.
I would eventually advise to put your EarPods in when the sound is ON so you won't hear or feel any sounds/vibrations.
There is no other way to avoid the sound/vibration for stopping.

  • 3G S - Sound the device makes when plugging in to charge

    All,
Sort of out of the blue, started today, when I plug my 3G S in to charge rather than making the usual "plugged in to charge" sound, it vibrates. I restarted the device and have checked ... vibrate is turned off.
    Thoughts?
    Thank you!

Check the ring/silent switch on the side of the phone above the volume switches. If it is in the silent position you'll get 2 short vibrations instead of the chirp.

  • Strange behavior while plugged in

    Hi,
my X1 compact shows a strange behavior since yesterday:
I plugged it in via the USB port for charging, and it started doing crazy things. Screen brightness went flashing from low to high and back, the touchscreen showed slow or no response to pushing buttons, everything got laggy as if some kind of process was running in the background with no end. When I unplug it, it basically works normally. But - from this time on, I couldn't charge it anymore, as the charge went down instead of up when plugged in! I tried a factory reset several times (power + volume up for 3 seconds), and although it did reset, the charging problem remained. I left it turned off for one night while plugged in, and in the morning, it was just charged to 25% with the charge going down rapidly in the first couple of minutes (after 5 minutes to 11%). Now it's at 1%, but I can use it for quite a while, indicating that the displayed charge certainly isn't correct.
When I plug it in, the same things happen again and again. When plugged in, I can't even enter the PIN correctly, because touchscreen input is somehow recognized falsely.
What could that be, what could I do??
    Aleks

I'd like to, but... now it's gone from 1% to dead, and I can't bring it back to life, whether plugged in or not!
When it's plugged in, the red charging light doesn't even come up. When I hard reset it, it just vibrates as it should, but no charging light whatsoever. When I unplug it and try to start it, the red light just flashes three times.
Now I'll just try to leave it plugged in for some time, in hope that there will be enough charge to try to boot into safe mode.
But to me, it seems like some kind of hardware bug? I mean, it seems like the same problen bothers the phone even when it's shut down, so I wouldn't gess it's a problem with the apps or the system! But I just don't get why it worked all the time and then just suddenly this thing happens! I've had it now for 6 weeks, and I already had a similar problem on the second day already, but it went away with a hard reset while charging... after that, perfect charging and good battery life for 6 weeks!
    Regards,
    Aleks

  • QuickTime Plug-In Failure in Safari under Lion - HELP!

I'm building my website in iWeb, using MP4s (H.264) files. When I publish and visit the live site, Safari will not read the movies and instead gives me a "plug-in failure" error. Meanwhile, the files play no problem in every other browers. This is a Lion bug. I tried emptying the cache, re-setting Safari, running in 32-bit mode, and choosing QT7 to open all QT files. Nothing helps. Please advise. Thanks!

FYI, I've checked ALL the other posts with similar issues including the solution to remove the Quicktime Plugin.plugin, and still nothing works. I did notice that I had this older plugin. I added the extention webplugin which changed the icon to a Lion icon, but that didn't help either. Could it be that Lion failed to install the latest plugin? If so, how can I get this file? I really don't want to archive and install over one lousy plugin. Thanks.

  • AD External Authentication Plug-In verification issue

We are working on a Proof of Concept instance to integrate MS AD with OID for the first time for E-Biz 11i.
    1) I completed the bulk load of all the existing users from AD to OID successfully
    2) completed enabling the syncrhonization profile
    3) Ran the txkrun.pl successfully
    4) However i wanted to check the External authentication plug-in and i get the below issue.
How to debug ldapcompare ? Where is the logfile for ldapcompare ?
    ldapcompare -h OID_Host -p 389 -D "cn=orcladmin" -w ******* -b "cn=lastname\, firstname,ou=consultants,ou=users,ou=usaeast,dc=adadmin,dc=lps,dc=netsrv,dc=us" -a userPassword -v abcdefgh
The value abcedefgh is not contained in the attribute userPassword in DN cn=lastname\, firstname,ou=consultants,ou=users,ou=usaeast,dc=adadmin,dc=lps,dc=netsrv,dc=us.
An ldapbind on the same AD server is successful, but ldapcompare is failing.

I get invalid credentials. Though the network password is correct. I feel its somewhere i messed up the 3rd party plug-in configuration. Is there a method to get debug information for ldapcompare command ?
    From metalink NOTE : 277382.1
"When using the above command, ldapcompare binds to OID using the OID admin user (typically "cn=orclAdmin") and password. Then it provides the AD username and requests that the value supplied as AD-USER-PASSWORD be compared to whatever is stored in AD username's userPassword attribute. Because OID does not store a value in its own user entries/userPassword attributes for AD-synchronized entries, this ldapcompare call will cause OID to invoke the plug-in and verify the userPassword value in AD instead.
If the plug-in works, the ldapcompare should return a message saying that the given password is contained in the userpassword attribute, e.g.
    "

  • How do I set my text notification to just a vibration?

Im not even sure if this is possible, but I just want my text notification to be a vibration instead of a sound. I've tried putting the vibrate option on and text sound to 'None', but it doesn't work.

Will you phone vibrate with sound though? Do you have Mac or PC? It can be done a couple ways.
    1. If you have GarageBand on Mac> You can make a silent ringtone> Send ringtone to itunes>sync and set as text tone.(vibrates twice on mine).
    2. Try getting a silent ringtone from another source to set as text tone.
I have seen people ask about this for reg. ringtones to set vibrate to unsaved contacts.
I can explain further if any of this sounds helpful to you.

You'll need to reload the OS software to the phone.

  • IPhone 6 vibrate intensity is very very weak compared to previous generation iPhones.

Got iPhone 6 on 9/19. Found out that Vibrate intensity is very very weak on iPhone 6 compared to previous generation iPhones. I keep missing calls and alerts when on vibrate mode. Is there any solution to this ?

Yes. There are reasons why I want to keep it in vibrate instead of ringtone. At my work, I keep it in vibrate so that no one gets disturbed if I get a call or text. Specially in a meeting, I must put it in vibrate. When I have the phone kept on my desk in vibrate mode, I miss text or calls most of the time now. It never used to happen with my old iPhone 4s.
Also, I use my phone as a pager for my work and I want to keep it in vibrate in the night so that only I get up in the middle of the night when I get a page. I don't want to disturb others at home. I've been missing the pages now because the vibration is very mild and I don't hear even hear it. Again, I never used to miss the pages before on my iPhone 4s.
